These shameless entities think they can fool Nigerians. Apology or no apology, timing or no timing, the message has been resoundly passed. For someone that enjoyed tactical support of Buhari in 2015 (even at the tribunal) to turn against him in 2017 simply shows how unmarketable the President has glaringly become. No amount of rethorical padding can change the narrative. |

[quote author=doctokwus post=60158783] You're not completely right on this. The same NBS that proclaimed recession some months ago is the one now telling us otherwise. It's still the same govt agency with the same personnel. If corruption has not abated in Nigeria then it couldn't have been responrible for reccession in the first instance. APC is falsehond personified. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Nbote:You're absolutely spot on. Imagine a govt giving out different exchange rates to pilgrims, importers of essential goods and other forex users turning around to blame PDP or corruption for reccession. That can only happen in Nigeria. 5 Likes |

smartty68:Friend, whether the NBS new claim is real or not, the fact that we're told the country is out of reccession less than 18 months after its herald simply shows that APC has been lying to Nigerians. Corruption has little to do with the reccession but APC cum Buhari's naivety and unprepareness in governance. 9 Likes |
Politics / Corruption Was Not Responsible For The Reccesion Afterall by OLADD: 2:03pm On Sep 05, 2017 |
At virtually every forum and slight opportunity the govenment of Buhari through its spokepersons and image launderers had always cited corruption in the last administration as the main factor responsible for Nigeria sliding into recession. Now that the country has officially crept out of the doldrum within a spate of 18 months with corruption indices still on the upward trend, can we still attribute the recession to corruption? Contrary to the govt's claims, the inability of Buhari to form a cabinet 6 months after inauguration, multiple exchange rates, banning and unbanning of essential commodities and flipflop in economic policies were the major causative factors for the recession. With the govt now seemingly navigating through its learning curve, eschewing trial and error governance, reversing its own thoughtless and obnoxious policies, it was just a matter of time before the anomaly of post 2015 reversed itself, hence the 0.55% GDP growth. 7 Likes 1 Share |

989900:Dude, this govt is the greatest enemy to itself. Nigeria went into recession largely because of the 6 months wasted on assumption of office contrary to their claims of corruption and plummetting oil price. The multiple exchange rates and banning of 41 imported items; all contributed to the recession in the first place. This latest development shouln't be a surprise since the govt is gradually coming to its senses by reversing its own obnoxious policies. 1 Like |

There he goes again. I just don't know why some elders wouldn't stop engaging in empty boasts. A Tinubu that couldn't do anything about the death of Abiola despite his threats of fire and brimstone should stop unnecceary grandstanding. While we detest any military coup at this stage of our nascent democracy, the likes of Tinubu can't do jack if it happens. Politics / Magu: Osinbajo's Explanation On DSS Report Is An Afterthought. by OLADD: 12:37pm On Apr 12, 2017 |
Vice President Osinbajo, no doubt is an eminent personality both in law and in letters. Powerfully endowed with sound and infective oratory prowess, he combines his enviable academic attainments with political sagacity having served as Attorney General in one of the leading states of the Federation. However, his latest statement on Magu-Senate faceoff attests to the fact that when it comes to our own brand of politics, professionalism is set aside, prejudice takes the centre stage and sentiments become the order of the day. In defending the President on his position about Magu, our erudite professor was making us to believe that Buhari's blatant disregard of DSS reports on the Acting EFCC Chairman simply amounts to noninterference. This position is not only watery and ridiculous, it echoes how APC leaders often take Nigerians for fools. How on earth will an agency that reports directly to the Presidency bypass its principal and send a damning report to another arm of government with our president feigning ignorance and pretending not to have a firsthand knowledge of the content of such report-all in the name of noninterference? Allowing the DSS to perform its statutory responsibility without undue pressure from the Presidency does not in any widest imagination amount to noninterference but a basic requirement for accountability and probity. With this latest fable from such a personality like Osinbajo, it's becoming glaring that all Nigerian politicians are the same no matter their level of education or background. This is the lowest point the VP can go in defending condemnable actions of his boss. 1 Like |
