The answer is obvious. Omo Yoruba gets the job done, while okoro sleeps after chasing the elusive Naira all day long.

Okoro? Who be that? You no know that Urhobo, Isoko, and Itsekiri dey have name Okoro?

is a popular yoruba proverb similar to the shakespearean quote: "Our destiny lies not in the stars, dear brutus"

julius ceasar i think.

It means you have enough sense to solve your problems.

nwoke means looking up [wo oke] and could also be transcribed as lan woke instead of la nwoke, which is what makes it seem igboid.

Don't make me laugh. Is it the same America that has been systematically frustrated by China in the level of sanctions that could be applied to Sudan, Iran and North Korea?
It matters not if the man is an 'IMF puppet' or whatever you say. The people of Cote d'Ivoire chose him to be their leader. That is the only thing that counts.

What sanctions did the UN put on the U.S. after they defied their order to not go into Iraq and take military action?

If you struggle with the 'international community' tag, i hope you understand 'United Nations' at least? The ECOMOG's position is supported by the UN.

The UN is countroled by the superpowers(The West). Btw, you can't even solidly claim the "UN" is behind it but you can say some countries in the U.N. are because clearly Russia said they are against it, Ghana, China, and so on.

You are not getting where i'm coming from. What he said was more of a reaction from fellow yorubas bringing up things that have to do with yorubas in this thread. The things were rather negative so you can't really blame him for doing that. Search for the beginning point that caused his remark.

^^So because the international community failed to intervene in the Rwandan genocide, they have no business intervening in future crisis of such magnitude. What a warped logic

You have to ask yourself who really is the "international community".Notice how they never give names of countries in that community. It could very well just be France, the U.S., and maybe 2 other African countries.

[s]Any knowledgable watcher of Ivorian politics will tell you that France owns huge swathes of the economy. They don't need to fight for it, neither do they need to back rebels. To gain what? Fight for what is already theirs? You aren't making sense my brother.[/s] All France wants in that country is their peace piece, they actually don't give a damn whether Outtara or Gbagbo is in power, but they surely care that Gbagbo is destroying their peace piece of the cake. That pretty much sums up the French position.

By the recent news,it seems as though the AU is listen and ready to work around the military action that the West is pushing them to take. If they pull this off in a way that options of a re-run election is taken, power is share between north(Ouattara as leader) and south(Gbagbo as leader), or a referendum between north and south to split the country then I think all will be well,or at least better off.

The bank's ATM machine that ws destroyed by the robbers this morning along Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos

A gang of robbers in the early hours of today invaded a new generation bank in Ayobo area of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, LCDA of Lagos State, South West, Nigeria.

A police source informed P.M.NEWS that the robbers were armed with dynamite and other sophisticated weapons. They arrived the bank at about 1.30 a.m. and blew up the vault of the bank during the operation which lasted for about three hours.

They also broke the bank’s automated teller machine, ATM, and carted away an unspecified sum of money.

Residents of the area, who witnessed the robbery attack, said it was as if there was war as the robbers were shooting throughout the period the robbery operation lasted.

The police were said to be helpless because of the sophisticated weapons the robbers used.

An eyewitness claimed that the robbers came in through the Ayetero-Ijele, Ogun State boundary and escaped through the same route after their successful operation.

The Area Commander of Area “G” Police Command, Mr. Mobolaji Odesanya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, visited the scene of the crime this morning.

He promised that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo will also visit the scene very soon.

Mr. Odesanya also added that investigation into the incident has commenced.

In another incident, an army sergeant and a hotelier identified as Mr. Ogu, were yesterday night killed by armed robbers near a fast food restaurant along Morocco-Bajulaiye Road, in Somolu, Lagos State.

Mr. Ogu was said to be in his car with two other occupants when he ran into the robbers and was shot.

An eyewitness told P.M.NEWS that the sergeant, who was a guard nearby, was attracted to the scene by gunshots but he was also shot by the robbers before he could do anything.

A source at the scene said the robbers, who were about 10, were attacking a popular beer parlour in the area when the car rammed into them.

As at the time of filing this report, Ogu’s car with registration number AT 988 AGL, with blood stains all over and perforated by bullets, had been removed from the scene to Alade Division of the Nigeria Police, Somolu. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of the station declined comment.

He referred P.M.NEWS to the state police command, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Frank Mba for further enquiry.

Kalu Akanu:

Gbagbo has his support from the South. The majority of Southerners support him, while the North supports Quatarra. They need to split this nation.

Yes, you are correct. There are even those in the north that support him. They were contemplating a share in power, Quatarra for the north and Gbagbo for the south. The so-called international nations(France and US) siad that it was undemocratic and that they should not accept it. The sharing of powers could have solved the matter.
