Politics / Re: When Dora Akunyili Is Senate President by Olaedo1: 10:23pm On Jan 16, 2011
etimek:

I can see a bright light in the nigerian horizon. Just imagine when Dora is sworn in as the next senate president of Nigeria come 2011,the popular adage would have been correct/ confirmed!!! ,"WHAT A MAN CAN DO, A WOMAN CAN DO EVEN BATTER" It will be modified to read, "WHAT SHAMELESS'LY CORRUPT MEN COULD NOT ACHIEVE, DORA CERTAINLY WILL AND WILL EXCEED MENS EXPECTATIONS. EVER BUBBLING WITH ZESTLY LIFE AND A BRILLIANT SMILE OF CONFIDENCE,, THE EXECUTIVE WILL REALLY SWEAT TO THEIVE/STEAL /LOOT OUR TREASURY backside ALWAYS. IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. BOLD AS EVER,EVEN WHEN SHE CONFRONTED THOSE KITCHEN CABINET MEMBERS, EVEN WHEN THE KITCHEN CABINET OF FORMER PRESIDENT WERE HIDING YAR,ADUA'S NEAR LIFELESS BODY AND DECEIVING THE NATION.

As good as this sounds. How is exactly is the senate president chosen and why do you have the feeling that she will be the next senate president?

2015 Is not about who takes over. I bet you, no matter where the President will come from, what will ache the minds, hearts and thoughts of Nigerians, is the condition of their well-being. Lets make every day of the next four years count, by making sure that the President after the 2011 elections rules so positively that Nigerians will never talk about Presidential geo-politics ever again!

True talk.

Well what do you know? Maybe you should quit commenting on issues that you know nothing about! Its not your fight and none of your business.
But I am curious as to what kind of pictures you expected to see of a WAR that was fought almost exclusively on Ojukwu's home base?

Maybe you should do the same. And why isn't it her fight? Is it your fight? You are not an Igbo but she as a Jamaican, has Igbo ancestry so who is inclined more to speak on this issue, you or her? Definitely not you! You don't have Biafran blood so shut your mouth.

No one is whipping anyone. If the igbos try such, it might be viewed as a Christian crusade and would lead to another cycle of violence!

Sorry but he said beroms and igbos. And no it would not start any cycle, the fight is already on now so nothing new would happen Mr. I jealous any attempt of the Igbo showing their strength in any avenue.

Actually MASSOB needs to be like MEND but with more sophistication and reach across Nigeria.
The blood of the Igboman has been the manure feeding the Nigerian contraption. It needs to stop.

MEND has a little bit of an upper head, being that they are fight on the sea and have many ways to manuvear without civilians getting killed.

Well maybe it is time for us to start our own group. You are correct about the name of MASSOB.

Lets name it the Amadioha Liberation Front (ALF) or Ikenga Boys

Hey sounds great, now all you have to do is promote it,facebook, etc. I seriously don't know why common sense wasn't used in alot of the avenues taken my massob. A lot of their members lives could have been saved.

Am not ibo but i was born in the east and have lived with ibos all my life,,,my best friends are ibos, but i strongly think they are the main cos of their problems ,so the the moment they remove their selfish character from their behaviours .there and then this rubbish dat is happening to them will stop. becos they are a selfish and selfcentered race dats why they cant rule this country and i think its high time they stop complaining and get their acts together, nobody has a monopoly to violence

jason123:

Ikwerris did not, it was forced on them since Igbos were the majority in the east. The Kalabaris are more related with the ijaws than Igbos. What about the invasion of the MW? Is that not bad? sine they were neutrals.

Ikwerres are Igbo so what are you talking about?lol. You argument is an oxymoron. And who told you that the Ikwerre, which is an igbo clan, did not support Biafra? And again this shows you know nothing about nigeria and definitely nothing about the Old East, the Kalabaris are Ijaws lol.Look it up. Did nigeria(Northern and Western armies) not invade the midwest?

jason123:

@ darkskin*
I have followed your argument and I can comfortably tell you that you do not know anything about Nigeria or her past. Do some research and stop believing every garbage spewed by some pro-biafrans on this site.
The war was a land and resource grabbing war. How can you justify Ojukwu (the biafran war lord) invasion the SW and MW? How can you justify Ojukwu annexing almost the whole of SS even up to Warri (my people reside there)? How can you justify the killing of every leader from other ethnic groups but yours was spared? How can you justify the appointment of a lot of igbo officers after the coup? There are lots of question you need to ask yourself before you try to talk about these issues. I would advise you to do some independent research. The pro-biafrans would NEVER tell you they are at fault, infact, they would never tell you the truth since the truth. They would fuel your hatred for other Nigerians as their parents did to them. They would not tell you why the whole country fought against them. Learn the truth!!!MO

Sorry jason i think us nigerians here made it clear that YOU know nothing about nigeria. You don't even know the name of your village and that's a damn shame. I can justify Ojukwu's invasion of the West(there was no SW at that time dodo), Nigerian army invaded Biafra. That is the justification of him invading the West. Annexing the whole of SS,can you clearify what that means?Umm the Coup of january 1966 was parcipitated by a fight for control between political parties, read your history. And the killing of every leader but yours? I guess ur refering to Nzeogwu. The same the northerners lost the most and the Igbos and yorubas lost roughly the same amount you a-hole.Do your research.Read your old posts, even YOU yourself said that the January '66 coup was not an Igbo coup so stop trying to fill her head up with nonsense fella. In fact after that coup the whole of nigerian civilians were rejoicing, even northern leaders. It wasn't until later on when the Ironsi government wasnt so favorable and the british built propaganda, that people started displaying high tension and opposition. And about the appointment of lots of igbo officers after the coup, can you provide proof and that no other officers from other regions were appointed.I'm lost on that one.Maybe your getting confused with another country like Congo or something. So her listening to a bias nigerian like yourself is learning the truth? and I guess if she looks at the politics of today in nigeria, the Igbos are not singled out or discriminated again federally are they? The good onld TRUTHFUL nigerians could never do something like that could they? Yo stop lying, state the facts, and treat everybody equal jason. All you talk about is yoruba, yoruba, yoruba and ore, ore, ore but you are not even yoruba or so you claim.

Mukina2 and Seun, i love this site just like millions of others that read comment on this site even if they are not registered to nairaland

i admire the work and commitment made by nairaland staffs and mods

there has been something really destroying this website, and i think people who are reading commitments on this site are getting tried of.

the issue of biafra is really the problem here; some of my igbo brothers on this website have been make propaganda's, lies and all sort off other things to make northerners and other nigerians look bad in the face of the outside world.

the pictures posted in the crime section is an example of sure, for the past 2 weeks now everyone have been enjoying nairaland because it few ethnocentric people sure as some of my igbo brothers have been out of this site

other nigerias sure as yorubas, kanuris, hausa, igala, ijaws, itsekiri, edo, fulani, beroms, etc have been enjoying this site and all it's contents; but each time SOME of my igbo brothers start there ethnocentric views such as "igbo this biafra that" it just spoils the mode of the site.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-582396.192.html#msg7539428

this trend is now making non-nigerians that know nothing about biafra or non of there family die in biafra are now talking about how evil nigerians are.

this is not proper for the image of nigeria at all,  this site is for "nigerians and FRIENDS of nigeria" not friends of igbo, yoruba or biafra

i do not think it is proper for biafra war to be displayed almost every day on this site as it is bad for the image of the site and also bad for the image of nigeria and africa

please i appeal to SEUN and MUKINA2 to do something about it

images of biafra war will non bring peace on others but bring hate and strife to others about there neighbouring country men

And why is your right up one-sided? YOUR Igbo brothers have not been out of this site.if you don't like nigeria history then so be it.Nothing is made to taylor only to your likes. Aren't your the main one bringing up the civil war with that subtitle you have?Hypocrite.

First off, it is an insult to say people seeking for opportunities to better themselves are money lovers. And who told you Igbo people do not come back to invest.

Well, when Ohanaeze becomes a focused leadership group of elders, only then will we be able to support their work. Actually, support will come naturally.
While we wait for Ohanaeze, we need to hold our SE governors and leaders accountable, they have learnt to cover their deficiencies with the cries of marginalization and anti-Igbonization.

kcjazz, clearly your way of thinking would never work within nigeria. You better take notes and stay put.

Muslims as animals In the south Even dokuba is a muslim, isn't it? Guy, I think you are wrong. Southerners even the south-south cannot view muslims as animals. NO! angry. 2 of my brothers are muslims.

Asari Dokubo did not become a muslim in the SS, he travel away from the SS and began practicing islam. Learn your facts. They see muslims as animals there. The only thing most no about islam is what they hear about from radio,tv, and word of mouth. And what they here is violence and they see these people(muslims) as animals. You yourself said that you all didn't grow up in the SS so what does you brothers being muslim have to do with the SS. Look if you don't know, you better ask somebody. After the first paragraph, I stopped reading.

THE WEST AND SOUTH DO NOT THINK MUSLIMS ARE ANIMALS OOO! my own dad is a muslim but he does not take it to the extreme level the northern muslims take it to. Infact, my mother is still a christain and the islam religion was not imposed on her. The southerners respect muslims and we demand that the respect should be reciprocal! How many times have they heard southerners killing muslims? Why is it that the killing only occurs in the north?

You are itsekiri, who are as christian as the Igbos and other SS indigenes. There are more native religion practice going on in itsekiri land than islam. They view muslims as animals.I guess you haven't been to the SS or niger delta period.

That's a tough one.  I think that actually depends on what everybody else decides to do actually. They would just be left playing the waiting game probably.

If left to them, I think they would just try to resurrect Bendel minus the groups that want to leave, and when that fails (I think the only people that would stick around would be the Urhobos/Isokos, so it would be a landlocked country of about 6 million, which is fine with me actually.) they would join Oduduwa republic. After all, Edos believe Oduduwa was a Benin man grin  grin, so that would be no problem having it named after an illustrious Edo son. I would want a better name for such a country though. You can't call yourself an Oduduwan or and Oduduwaian. It just sounds strange and weird.

Sounds good. I think it may be called O'odua Rep. so O'Oduwan isn't bad at all. cool

Thankyou Missy.

@ Ileke Idi, you don't understand. The Igbos were being oppressed and fought a war to escape such suffering. One million Igbos died fighting for that dream. 1milliom people gone, one million hopes and dreams sacraficed, one million was one tenth of our pop at that time. And as if that was not enough, we today are still suffering more than before. One million people died for no reason, my own ancestors died in that war, they were forcefully conscripted, pulled from their farms and equipped with rifles and caps to fight an enemy with machine guns and tanks. Entire villages destroyed, (My heart weeps as I write this), towns were burned and families separated for no reason. Today millions if former soldiers maimed and injured beg alongside the highways. These were the same people that Guwon promised "peace and reassimilation".

My people are imprisoned in their own land and no one seems to care. The highest a young Igbo bot can hope to be in Nigeria is a governor in his fund-chocked state. While an illiterate Hausa or Fulani boy can answer Alhaji at the age of 15.

Odumchi, She understands that. What she is saying is that we are all being oppressed.Everybody(southerners) want out of nigeria as much as the Igbos do.

What's this about them not functioning well if they stand on their own?

Edo and Delta have a higher GDP per capita than every other state that came out of the Western region.

So how would your people, the Edo people, most likely go about this separation thing. What would you all most likely do based off of what you know about your people?
