Did a road trip with family from saskatoon, to Banff, then Calgary last month... Meanwhile I don't live in Canada, came visiting from the UK

Believe me, you'll enjoy this.

N/b, rented a car with Hertz at Saskatoon airport
wow, from Saskatoon to Banff would be minimum of 6 hours, Banff is so beautiful no doubt, I went there last year

Last month I went to Toronto and I told myself that I would create a thread when I'm back because I wasn't comfortable posting a live update but I was totally reluctant to do so when I came back so I'm going to Kelowna today for the long holiday and I decided to post as it goes.

I just finished packing my bag about to sleep before the seven hours trip

Hi everyone. Tech guys in the house, please what IT skill would you advise your friend to acquire if he's planning to relocate to Canada.

Is python with Django enough to earn a living (Either Nigeria or Canada)

Thanks in advance for your responses
Django is not enough at all, for web, most places prefer full stack, with python the person can easily move to data though but not software

LIVING IN MANITOBA
Please if you are living in Manitoba. I need a mentor who can guide me on the tech journey. I am caught in choosing to learn DATA ANALYTICS AND WEB DEVELOPMENT. I want to choose one but don't know the one to go for in terms of job prospect after learning.
Please I need a mentor on who has gone through this journey and where to learn. Any bootcamp in Manitoba Biko!!!. I am on my knees begging eehhh. Thank you. Please reach out to me. Thank you.

I would say go for data analytics, data and web pay almost same but there are more things to learn in dev and more things to do.

Check out lighthouselab bootcamp, they were funded by the government to give scholarship at some point this year, I don't know if it's still open.

Likewise, don't be limited to Manitoba, I don't know how the tech job market is over there but you should always be open to remote

But the guy you quoted actually said the truth. This is not about tribalism. Even here if you are selling agege bread to me, you must not touch it with your bare hand else I leave it for you.

I am not making a case for akpu, but after processing akpu the way you have described it is normally cooked three good times before serving for consumption .

Meanwhile, I am amazed at your level of pettiness
you're the one being petty, must you condemn other region? If they reply back now you'll call them bigot

Those people are simply ignorant, without more immigrants the country will collapse. Their opinion doesn’t matter in reality as IRCC will keep increasing the numbers. Same way some citizens will say they are coming to take our jobs. Same job you don’t apply for Any job that has small stress they are quick to scream mental health bla bla bla. Don't let anyone discourage you o.

You will be forgiven when you get on ground and face the realities! If you read his post very well, the issue is not because immigrants are anti-immigrants but when immigrants and all other members of the society see the challenges they face in “accessing” basic things, they wonder on the need for more. It is a natural instinct to survive.

If you get on a rescue boat, and the captain continues to allow more people, you may want to ask at what point he will stop allowing more people because you are dealing with finite resources
I'm here and I don't know the realities you're talking about.

If Canada is a rescue boat that's sinking, what's Nigeria? Maybe the person might as well jump out to create space for people.

If you like leave conservative and vote NDP, they'll all keep bringing people grin because of some reasons.

No wonder Ontario folks are moving to our sweet Alberta and price of house is beginning to rise here.
I placed an offer for a laned home here for $440k, PSA was prepared and sent, before I could say jack, someone from Ontario added 15k to the house and owner accepted, was shocked.
Met a Nigerian nurse who moved to Edmonton Jan last yr, as I speak, he has 3 houses in Edmonton.
Calgary prices are going up because of the interest rate and people moving down here. Edmonton houses are more cheaper though

And we complain about price increase and millions of young people not been able to afford to get homes?

I don't blame these buyers buying 3 , 4 houses to rent out and make money but housing should never be a primary investment. Buy house , sit on it without any investment or brain power. After 2 years it is worth 40% more. That's unsustainable for any economy.

Government should be taxing any 2nd , 3rd house which isn't the primary place of residence by at least 60% . This should discourage this nonsense.
real estate has always been a sure investment and will continue to be. A lot of incentives for first time home owners and from there you can continue to buy. YOLO

Haba! that is a huge exaggeration. There’s probably a decent number of people earning in that range but not 80%. I agree that Canada is an expensive country, the cost of living is insane. I’ve never lived in UK so can’t offer any insights there but I have several friends there on work permits and study visa and they are all on this Canada waka so something is obviously missing that is spurring them on to still pursue Canada.
The only place I believe is unreasonable is even some parts of Ontario like Toronto, GTA and the likes as well as Vancouver every other place is much more affordable

Go and vote labour party in your village. Let's compare the achievement of APC in Lagos in the last 8 years to any state in Nigeria.

Don't tell me the money they generate because we know how much Delta and Bayelsa receive with their tiny population but yet they are still part of the worst states in Nigeria, I know Sanwo Olu has been useless for the most of it sha

Thanks for your reply.Would you recommend it for a start for newcomers? I've been doing alot of research and I'm mostly choosing for its cheaper homes both for renting and buying. And I'm hoping commuting to and fro isn't too far from Calgary Downtown as I plan to open a business and don't want to be very far from immigrant population
Move to Calgary, the difference in rent doesn't worth it. It's like "Mowe to Lagos". Just my opinion sha
