Only on very rare cases. Once you request for your passport, you automatically have asked for your application to be withdrawn. Nevertheless, you could still have then send back you passport alone but again, it will be dependent on the nature of the urgency,time from date of application and the chances your application have.

Is it possible to request for one's passport without the application being withdrawn?

Were you sent a procedural fairness letter before your refusal?

I'm new here and I didn't know Canada would figure I've been refused a US visa since it doesn't show on the passport though I listed a couple of countries that I've been refused even though they later granted the visa and I traveled there but I didn't include US.. Can the VO see that as a mistake on my part since I included other refusals but not US since I clicked yes if I've ever been refused but I didn't state US

The fairness letter is an opportunity for the applicant to explain why previous visa refusal/denial were not indicated. Well so far so good, it truly depends on the explanation of the applicant with serious proof to justify the explanation.
And to answer your question, yes a few percentage has been able to answer that letter and was granted visa.
While a good percentage that didn't give good enough reply with proof were given a 2 year ban.
Some others that still lied more after the procedural fairness letter were given a 5 yrs ban.
Kindly let us know why you didn't indicate your visa refusal(s)

Please a quick one. I have submitted my application, via paper route on May 15th. I have also linked my application online, and these are the updates I have gotten so far. Please, I am begging the house, anybody at all to help me explain what they mean in the update. especially the circled sentence in the attachment below.

I will likely pay my 1 yr tuition fee in few days time however some guys said it takes bank a week or so to get telex copy ready. my question is, what evidence will i show to VO that i have paid my tuition fee when Telex copy is not included

You should be patient till you get your tuition fee receipt from your school after they confirm payment
