The organisers of the Headies have announced that the award will hold on May 5 at Eko Hotel & Suites.

The nominee party will hold on April 28 in Abuja.

Superstar Davido leads the pack with the highest number of nominations – six (6), while Wizkid, Olamide and Adekunle Gold follow with five (5) nominations each.

Tiwa Savage, Kiss Daniel, and Johnny Drille got four (4) nominations each while Flavour, Nonso Amadi, Banky W, Niniola, Runtown, Phyno, Reminisce cupped three nominations respectively.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has been named among 100 Most Influential Africans of 2017 by a London-based magazine, the `New African’.

A statement by Mr Idang Alibi, the Director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry, said Kachikwu was chosen in the category of Business and Finance.

The statement quoted Mr Omar Yedder, the Publisher and Managing Director of the magazine as saying “Kachikwu is adedicated to changing the African narrative and fighting for its interests.

“It is in accordance with that tradition that Dr Kachikwu was spotlighted as one of the greatest influencers of the continent in 2017.

“My organisation hope to continue on this journey alongside people engaged in transformational roles across the continent.

The police have trailed and arrested in Lagos two of the Offa robbery suspects who took part in the deadly attack on five banks and a police station on 5 April, killing as many as 17 people.

Mr. Jimoh Moshood, the Police PRO identified the two suspects as 39 year-old Alexander Reuben and 28 year-old Jimoh Isa. They were all arrested on 11 April.

They were among the 12 suspects so far arrested by the police.

Another suspect Adetoyese Muftau, 23 was picked up in Ibadan, while three other suspects were arrested in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state. The three were identified as 18 year-old Aminu Ibrahim, 23 year-old Richard Buba Terry and 25 year-old Peter Jafar Kuunfa.

Jimoh also said in the update released today that six suspects were arrested in Offa, where the dastardly crime was staged.

Two out of the suspects nabbed in Offa were caught with the SIM cards and phones of some of the victims of the robbery violence. They were identified as Azeez Salawudeen, who is aged 20 and Adewale Popoola, who is 22 years old.

Police gave the names of the four other suspects arrested in Offa as 29 year-old Adegoke Shogo, Kayode Opadokun a 35 year-old man, Kazeem Abdulrasheed, 36 and
Azeez Abdullahi, who is 27.

Police said they recovered from the three suspects picked in Ilorin a Beretta pistol and 14 bullets.

In all the police have collected from the suspects, two Beretta pistols, 20 bullets, four Phones and SIM cards belonging to victims, some of whom were killed during the attack.

According to the police, nine of the suspects now in custody took part in the robbery and attack on a police station in the town. They were arrested by the high powered police investigation team, who worked in synergy with the State Criminal Investigation team.

”The Police teams engaged in massive raids of identified criminal spots and flashpoints, stop and search operations, visibility and confidence building patrols, intelligence gathering which led to the arrest of the suspects. Some of the arrest also involved serious exchange of gun fire between the Police and the suspects in their various hideouts”, Moshood said.

Mark Zuckerberg defended Facebook’s business model on Wednesday against fierce criticism of how it feeds user data to advertisers, even as he admitted his own personal information had been leaked to outside companies.

Facing tough questioning in a second day of high-stakes hearings in Congress, the 33-year-old CEO conceded that regulation of social media companies — under mounting scrutiny over the misuse of user data — is “inevitable.”
But he stiffly defended Facebook’s use of the data and postings of the 2.2 billion users of its free platform — in order to attract the ad revenue that the $480 billion company depends on.


Speaking in the wake of a scandal over the massive leak of data to a British political consultant, Zuckerberg reiterated that the company had shut down the pipeline that allowed such data, including his own, to slip into the hands of third parties.
A day earlier, Zuckerberg said he took personal responsibility for the improper use of 87 million people’s personal data by Cambridge Analytica, which worked for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.


Yet in his testimony to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, he was also steadfast in arguing that Facebook’s users themselves are choosing to make their data available, and that the company’s “opt-in” provisions were enough to protect their privacy rights.
“Every time that a person chooses to share something on Facebook, they’re proactively going to the service and choosing that they want to share a photo, write a message to someone.”

“Every time there is a control right there,” Zuckerberg said.

– ‘Real trust gap’ –
Zuckerberg faced tougher questions from House lawmakers over Facebook’s stance than during Tuesday’s five-hour session in the Senate, where his defense of data sharing was weakly challenged. “It’s strikes me that there’s a real trust gap here.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Mr Chris Ezike, says the command has recovered 168 guns and 2,323 ammunition during its mop-up of armaments in the state.

Ezike, who made the disclosure in Owerri on Tuesday while displaying the weapons, said they were recovered from criminals and some individuals who surrendered their own voluntarily.

He said the command also recovered 99 cartridges and 25 empty magazines.

The commissioner said the command would deposit the arms and ammunition in the public armory.

He said the arrangement was in compliance to the Inspector General of Police directive for all state police commands to deposit all mop-up and surrendered arms and ammunition to the public armory.

Ezike said all persons arrested in connection with the recoveries that were not voluntarily made are facing various charges in court.

He explained that the arms recovery had become a proactive exercise aimed at checking the activities of would be political thugs.

Brazil’s former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, will begin his 12 year prison term from Friday, after a judge gave him 24 hours to surrender to police.

The order from Judge Sergio Moro, head of Brazil’s huge “Car Wash” anti-graft probe, came as a complete surprise given that lawyers had earlier said the leftist former two-term president had at least until Tuesday before he’d have to go behind bars.

Lula, 72, was once one of the most popular politicians on the planet and he easily leads polls in Brazil’s October presidential election. His incarceration will throw the race completely open.

Moro’s office said that in view of Lula’s stature as a former president, he would have “the opportunity to present himself voluntarily” to police in the city of Curitiba, where the “Car Wash” probe is based, by 5:00 pm (2000 GMT) Friday.

There was no immediate reaction from Lula, who had been described earlier by supporters as facing his jailing calmly.

However, Senator Lindbergh Farias, from Lula’s Workers’ Party, issued a defiant call for supporters to congregate in front of Lula’s house in Sao Bernardo near Sao Paulo on Friday.

“Moro ordered prison for Lula. Everyone to Sao Bernardo tomorrow from 5:00 am in front of Lula’s house!” he tweeted.

Lula had been due to address a Workers’ Party rally in the city on Friday afternoon, but that event would now coincide with Moro’s surrender deadline.

Lula petitioned to the Supreme Court on Thursday to be allowed to remain free while pursuing appeals in higher courts against his conviction for receiving a seaside apartment as a bribe from a construction company. A lower court appeal failed this January.

Less than 24 hours after opposition Julius Maada Bio was sworn-in as President of Sierra Leone, some of his supporters have engaged in violent activities.

The violence erupted in the eastern Sierra Leonean district of Kenema, after the installation of Bio as the country’s fifth president.

Reports out of the town on Thursday suggest running battles between irate youths and the police.

A police station is reported to have come under attack.

Reports also indicate multiple injuries, some as a result of gunshots.

A source in Kenema told APA that jubilating supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), whose candidate Bio was declared win of the presidential election, went on the rampage trying to attack the resident of a minister in the outgoing government.

The source said the SLPP supporters later resorted to attacking defenseless APC supporters and destroying their market stalls.

Pictures on social media show several people supposedly injured from the incident.

A video footage shared on the social media platform, Whatsapp, shows angry youths mobbing a police officer, while a second officer ran for his life.

Cee-c revealed that Bambam was madly in love with Teddy because of his physical appearance.

The federal government has invited young innovators and entrepreneurs from North Central and South East to apply for support on the platform of private-sector driven “Start-up Nigeria’’ empowerment programme.

Mr Godwin Arigbonu, the Communication Associate of the programme, said on Thursday in Abuja that applications into the programme has been kick-started by the coordinating firms, opening from April 7 to April 19.

“Interested candidates are invited to apply via the website www.startupnigeria.ng.

“They are expected to take advantage of the opportunity and have their innovative ideas taken from mind to market,’’ he said.

He assured them that the empowering programme would help them a great deal in entrepreneurship development team.

Evicted Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate,Bambam, has said she will handle rumours of her sex with Teddy A as a process in her life.

DAILY POST recalls that Teddy A and Bambam who were shown the way out of the reality show on Saturday and Sunday respectively were few weeks ago caught having sex in the toilet.

Viewers showed diverse reactions to the sex scene, with some describing the act as a show of disrespect.

Bambam in an online video, said although the duo were caught, she will not allow the scandal get to her. She said what took place in the house already happened and it is a story she will stick to.

Egyptian authorities on Wednesday sentenced 35 Muslim Brotherhood members to life in prison for allegedly forming “terrorist cells” to attack security forces and state institutions.

The Sohag Criminal Court in central Egypt sentenced another 155 defendants to three to 15 years in prison on similar charges, including plotting to kill public figures and security officials, and joining an outlawed group, a reference to the Brotherhood.

Wednesday’s verdict can be appealed, and 124 suspects who remain at large will be re-tried once they are apprehended.

The Brotherhood won a series of free elections after Egypt’s 2011 uprising, and a senior Brotherhood figure, Mohammed Morsi, was elected president in 2012.

A year later, the military overthrew Morsi amid mass protests against his rule.

Egyptian authorities have since branded the Brotherhood a terrorist organisation.

Canon in September 2015 announced it was developing a couple of ultra-high resolution CMOS image sensors. Chief among them was the 120MXS with a staggering 13,280 x 9,184 effective pixel count (120 megapixels). We’ve seen the sensor crop up (no pun intended) a few times since then but now, we’ve got some sample video to admire.

The 120MXS is an ultra-high resolution CMOS sensor with 13280 x 9184 effective pixels (approx. 60x the resolution of Full HD). It has a size equivalent to APS-H (29.22mm x 20.20mm), and a square pixel arrangement of 2.2μm x 2.2μm with 122 million effective pixels. Ultra-high-resolution is made possible by parallel signal processing, which reads signals at high speed from multiple pixels. All pixel progressive reading of 9.4 fps is made possible by 28 digital signal output channels. It is available in RGB or with twice the sensitivity, in monochrome.

In Canon’s latest video, we can see the incredibly high detail that a sensor of this caliber is capable of capturing. Fine details that are lost in standard Full HD are readily apparent with the 120 megapixel solution.

Pep Guardiola fears a fight to keep Raheem Sterling after admitting the £100 million-rated Manchester City and England winger’s fine form has put him firmly in demand.

Sterling is due to enter the final two years of his existing £180,000-a-week contract this summer.

City want to extend his deal and are prepared to offer a substantial pay rise but Sterling’s impressive displays have caught the attention of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris St-Germain.

Sterling’s valuation could soar again if he thrives for England at the World Cup finals in Russia and Guardiola is aware the 23 year-old – who has scored 20 goals is all competitions this term - is increasingly sought after.

“No doubt, it is so important [to keep Sterling]. But the deals are the deals. The agents, circumstances, maybe other clubs are interested in him,” the City manager said ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton.

. In his opinion, though Wizkid, Olamide, Davido’s music is far from what he would score as good music, he has no choice but to like it because they are just giving the audience what they demand.

“Good music? No. But they’re giving the people what they want to hear for the moment. So I can’t hate that. But it’s far from good music. Wizkid is trying though, I played the Starboy album the other day and I still went gaga. That album is going to be evergreen”, he stated.

Speaking further, he argued that Mr. Real, whose hit song, Legbegbe, is currently ruling the streets and airwaves, is just a musical wannabe who would soon be blown away like ashes.

Dylan Curran is a data consultant and web developer, who does extensive research into spreading technical awareness and improving digital etiquette.

Curran began the disclosure on 24 March with this tweet: “Want to freak yourself out? I’m gonna show just how much of your information the likes of Facebook and Google store about you without you even realising it.”

Buhari, who unveiled a plaque to commemorate his visit to the Eko Atlantic City project, expressed his appreciation to investors after being shown round the project by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.

He said that their investment had helped to provide employment for Nigerians, reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.

“I am extremely grateful to those that agreed to invest so much in our country.

“I have just gone round to see the Eko Atlantic City. I am extremely impressed with the potentiality of this project and the amount of jobs and its effect on the economy and what it is capable of bringing,’’ Buhari said.

The President, while expressing his satisfaction with the ocean reclamation embarked upon by the state government and its partners, said that the investment had impacted on the country’s economy.

Earlier, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode said that the project was an example of what the private sector could do to the nation’s economy.

Ambode, who said the project was initiated by the Bola Tinubu administration, noted that it had actually saved the whole of Victoria Island from potential danger.

Luck appeared to have shined on Libya returnees from Edo State, as the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has placed each of them on three months salaries.

A statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Desmond Agbama, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday said Oba Ewuare, announced this when he hosted to Libyan returnees in his palace.

Apart from the allowances, the Oba said the Oba Ewuare Foundation would provide the necessary tools/facilities for those who had gone through the various skills acquisition programmes.

He expressed disappointment over the mentality of the Nigerian youth, with the quest to make quick money without legitimate means, noting that youths must embrace agriculture and other legal businesses to excel.

The statement said the monarch frowned at the attitude of some parents who encouraged illegal migration via sea and desert, stressing that the palace would employ all traditional means to eradicate the scourge.

Oba Ewuare, who was full of praises for ancestors and for steps taken so far to curb the menace of human trafficking and wave of crime in the state, called for concerted efforts of all to win the fight against the inhuman acts.
