The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that some miscreants on Tuesday hauled stones on the Abuja-Kaduna train. The corporation denied however, the story that the train was attacked by robbers. Mr Yakub Mahmood, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of NRC, said there was no gunmen attack on the train, “but an act of stoning by miscreants’’. “There was an incidence of miscreants along Abuja-Kaduna railway corridor who engaged in an unwholesome act of stoning our passengers’ trains, as against the unsubstantiated and purported media report of attack by gunmen. “The does not constitute security threat to the operation of the train service. It is a deliberate attempt by unpatriotic individuals to damage federal government’s asset and property. “These properties are provided to alleviate the transportation problems of Nigerians, besides being a source of employment to the people residing in the environment. “ Read more: https://bah.com.ng/2018/03/09/nrc-confirms-miscreants-hauled-stones-on-abuja-kaduna-train/

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition is scheduled to take place in France from Aug. 5 to Aug. 24. At the Draw Ceremony held at Rennes in France on Thursday, Africa’s other flag-bearers Ghana were drawn in Group A alongside hosts France, New Zealand and The Netherlands. Nollywood actress Uche Jombo who seems to be far behind in her acting career has refuted claims that her marriage to Puerto Rican American, Kenney Rodriguez has brought bad luck to her career. “Marriage didn’t stop me from acting regularly. Even before I tied the knot, I had already started selecting projects I do. I choose my projects now because I am not interested in being in every film again. Also, if people cannot see that I am good for a certain role, I don’t need to convince anyone at my level. I have been acting for 18 years and I have matured in the business. I got into acting at a young age, but I need more time to promote the projects I do and still focus on my marriage.” Uche Jombo whose marriage to Rodriguez crashed long ago is now a single mother though she claims otherwise. United States President Donald Trump’s newly announced tariffs on steel and aluminium won’t help the U.S. economy and may cause bigger job losses in sectors using steel, an EU economist has said. “Trump is really shooting himself in the foot,” said Fredrik Erixon, the director of the European Centre for International Political Economy, a Brussels-based think tank. “Trump’s new tariffs won’t help the U.S. economy,” she said in the interview published by Xinhua. These measures, if put into place, will affect exports to the United States from Europe and many other countries, he said. On Thursday, Trump announced the imposition of additional import duties on EU exports of steel and aluminium to the United States, set at 25 percent for steel and 10 percent for aluminium. Similar restrictions will also be imposed on exports from other suppliers. Previous steel tariffs in the United States led to a small increase in U.S. steel jobs, but far bigger job losses in sectors using steel, he said. The cost of construction and car production will go up, making it more expensive to build new infrastructure and to be globally competitive in the automobile sector, the economist added. Moreover, Erixon warned that U.S.-EU trade relations would be affected by imposing additional import duties on EU exports of steel and aluminium to the United States.
