Don't make the same mistake I made. Go with 2018 tax papers, 2019 if possible.
Thanks. So I did not go with it but I was granted the visa.

Congrats on your visa application. You can call NVC via +16033340700. Make sure you call them 12.59pm or 1pm on the dot. They are just resuming around that timeframe and it is 100% sure, you would get in touch with them. Always worked for me .
Thank you. I will try that today

Hello everyone.

My visa was eventually granted.

However, for my siblings, all documents have been submitted and summary page is showing completed and accepted on CEAC website, but on requesting from NVC why there's delay in receiving documentarily qualified email since August despite being Current, they said the only thing we have done is just to make payment.

My siblings submitted their documents at the same time as mine.

It takes eternity for them to respond through AskNVC.

My siblings are wondering what next. Does this happen at times? How else can we contact NVC?

Who else was able to travel to the US with a pending petition and the reason for the travel? Kindly share, thank you[/quote]I renewed my visa twice while i was waiting as well. It does not change anything, however, you should be truthful. I was even asked again at the point of interview if anyone filed for me.

I wish you luck.

Hi everyone,

Interview is in few days. I submitted 2017 IRS transcript and it was approved. Do I need to go with 2018 IRS transcript if available?

What is the implication if I don't?

Okay, but even if you want to get a new one make sure it's the same information as the old one since you're taking the photocopied one and it's the same information they already have on file with USCIS.
Thank you.

To be on a safer side why don't you just take the photocopied one to NPC and show them so that a more original one from the photocopied one can be done.

Were you able to resolve the above last concerns of your?
Thank you. I will try the option of obtaining another copy but if that does not work, can i get a new one and explain at the point of interview when asked?

About the interview letter for my siblings, we contacted the consulate in Lagos and they said their documents have not arrived, however, we have been asked to contact NVC about the status. All their documents have been approved but no case complete email.

I misplaced the original attestation of birth that was submitted to NVC but i have the photocopy. Can I go with the photocopy instead or I request for another one from National Population Commission before the interview?

Good day everyone.
I will like to find out something. My father filed for my 3 siblings and I was the only one who received the Immigrant Visa Interview Appointment email. Since the petition was filed together, I understand we will attend the interview together. What I don't understand is the fact that the interview letter was addressed to me alone. How do I print for my siblings because I heard we must take the letter for medicals.

Kindly help a sister.

All documents have been submitted and all fees have been paid, though they have not sent the case completed letter.

What does that mean please?

That’s Cedars Sinai, the hospital is very expensive (that’s where all the celebrities... the Kardashians and all the Hollywood people birth).

Look for another doctor and hospital
I totally understand you. I want to believe we are not Visa officers and they know what they are looking for.

I would appreciate if you can show me one person who got a Private insurance, not insurance for residents, and was denied on that basis, then I will totally agree with you.

I believe my case was more of God's grace and not "Luck".

You can opt in for a private insurance, I was on insurance and my total out-of-pocket was $6,500, despite the fact that my baby was in the NICU for 7 weeks.

I renewed my visa and no issue was raised around the fact that i got insured, they were only concerned about me fulfilling my part of the contract.

I hope it helps.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 10:19am On Mar 29, 2019
Hello everyone, thanks for the contribution. I thought I should share the outcome -

VO: How long did you stay the last time?
Me: 176 Days
VO: Why?
Me: I started bleeding right after I got to the US. I had my baby taken out prematurely to save my life. The doctor said I could not fly back to Nigeria and a written note was given to me to that effect.
VO: Can I see that?
I handed over the report
VO: How did you pay your bills?
Me: I sourced for a private insurance following the incident and it got approved. I bought the Platinum Plan, which costs about $500 per month.
VO: Did you pay the insurance premiums out of pocket?
Me: Yes I did
VO: Can I see the premium receipts and itemized bill?
I handed that as well.
VO: Has anyone filed for you?
Me: Yes
VO: Who did?
Me: My Sister
VO: Do you intend to have a baby this time?
Me: No I don’t
That was how he handed a white paper to me and told me to pick up my passport in 3 working days o.

Isn’t God just wonderful?
That was how I packed my burden of proof back.
Apparently, if you have a guarantor in the US, a Private insurance can be approved.
To everyone who contributed, thank you and I wish you good luck in your endeavor.

Thanks.

I actually have nothing to hide. I paid $6500 in total, which includes the Premiums and Ambulance fee.
Let me add that the insurance is Private. It has nothing to do with the Government.

They did not request for my SSN, so they knew I was there visiting. They assessed the situation before I got approved for it.

Honestly, it’s not looking good. Everything drafrican wrote is true. The biggest red flag I see there is the insurance. I know you got the insurance during open enrollment and all that but truth be told you still cut corners. Massive ones. Correct me if I’m wrong but you’re not resident in the US, don’t work or live there, why are you buying insurance to pay for services that should have been paid for out of pocket? That’s kinda like insurance fraud and some VO might flip out depending on who you meet.

Then the issue of charity taking care of part of the bills and the rest.... it’s just a lot going on. My advise though will be to come clean and not lie during your interview and hopefully you meet a good VO who is ready to listen.

How much was the total you paid out of pocket?
Thanks.

drafrican:
Truth is if it were usa embassy before you can explain all these and then it depends on if the vo is sympathetic.

But these days them dey craze well well, they have sent people for pregnancy test, they have denied people with a usa travel history of over 10 years who never had kids in usa.

The issues you may have are
1) violating your visa rules but if u can explain these complication trust me it must be a life or death complication like you had a cardiac arrest a d got resurcitated or your membrane ruptured while at walmart and they called an ambulance not hypertension or diabetes .

2) the VO will then expect a bill of @1500 neonatal per day till discharge at 34/36 weeks thats 1500 x 7 days for 7 weeks.
Your bill should be like 100-200k dollars.

3) the hospital wrote this off trust me the vo wont have expected you to sort it out but they will expect u paid at least half of that $30-50k or expect to see a payment plan u have been following

4) the worst thing on your profile is the insurance which i donno should have been in nigeria, also you can take a health insurance in the usa but for a foreigner it comes active after 1 year ,to them you cut corners and then what was your premium.

5) u ended up with an insurance suspected you wont be able to pay took an insurance and the hospital had to weite off your bill thats the summary

It doesn’t look good ,i appreciate your honesty but you never know pray hard and hope but if i was ur sister i will say ,dont apply just wait till trump leaves office n try your luck.

No one has come here to say it so i will help them inthe last one month they give most people life ban not visa denial life ban. Try canada or brazil and let usa rest for now.
You may be lucky and get it but the odds are not in your favour.
1. About the complication I had, my cervix was opening and I was cramping and bleeding heavily. I was taken to the hospital with an ambulance. I have fully paid the ambulance fee ($3,600). The doctor gave me a letter stating that I was not fit to fly back to prevent having the baby on the plane. I was barely 5 months. I was bedridden till I had the baby.

2. I was not planning to have my baby there, it was an unfortunate incident. I won't have traveled 4 months before my actual delivery date if I had plans of delivering there.

3 & 4. The insurance was obtained during an Open enrolment period, the emergency event triggered the approval of the insurance. Oyinbo's won't cut corner or bend rules when it comes to such.

It is well o. I will take whatever happens in good faith.

Thanks for your response.

Hian! You be God? Or are you a VO?! huh undecided
Good morning MamaOO.

Please I need your thought on this. I didn't stay beyond 180days.

Is it wrong to obtain an insurance as a non immigrant?

The hospital gave me "uninsured courtesy discount" for the balance not covered by insurance.

Now I have been asked to appear for an interview.

I'm more than worried.

Waiting for your response.

Thanks

jericho2006:
As for documents, make sure you have:
*all correspondence with the hospital and doctors
*all the billing they gave you, including the breakdown of services and charges
*copies of the flight tickets you purchased and the boarding passes for the airplane
*receipts from the hotel you stayed in and if you rented a car
*a notarized letter from your pastor saying that are a lady of honor and strong faith

Collect all these and organize them neatly in a binder.
Then go to trash heap and throw them all away, because you are never going to get a visa ever again.
What are your reasons for coming to that conclusion?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 7:10pm On Mar 27, 2019
MamaOO:
No vex, I should have known better than to engage with you, Aunty Sparkle. No vex, you hear?
Please I need your urgent thoughts on this.

I traveled to the US while I was 4-5 months pregnant and landed at the hospital on emergency due to complications - I have the doctor's report to prove that i was not fit to fly back to Nigeria.

The intention was to visit my dad who lost his wife earlier that year (That was my second visit on that visa).

I was enrolled for a private insurance (USA) in October 2017, and got approved in November 2017. The premiums for the 3 months were paid in full.

Unfortunately, baby came at 29 weeks, earlier than usual due to complications. Insurance handled the major part of the bill and the balance of my bill was taken care of by the hospital through Charity care (Not government funded according to the hospital).

Now, I applied to renew my visa via dropbox and I have been asked to appear for an interview.

Should I be worried? I have non-indebtedness letter and zero balance statement, also the insurance premium receipts are available. I also did not stay beyond 180 days.

What are my chances?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 6:58pm On Mar 27, 2019
Beautyaddy:
Yes, this will be the main determining factor of her chances.

Now hopefully she got pregnant after she was given the visa...her chances of getting her visa renewal might be more possible.
I got the visa before I got pregnant. I first travelled in January (then I was not pregnant). I spent just 2 weeks.

The second visit was when I had the whole drama. I spent less than 6 months all together. 2 months before the baby and 3 months after.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 6:47pm On Mar 27, 2019
Babyvet:
Her chances of visa renewal are slim . They gave her visiting visa, she end up staying here longer and gave birth. In addition she ended up public funds. The VO’S are not going to take kindly to that , she better have plan b. I wonder what the the time line was from getting the visa, getting pregnant and actually arriving to the U.S.
Thanks alot for the response. I did not stay beyond 180 days
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 3:31pm On Mar 27, 2019
Beautyaddy:
Okay, this discount by the hospital is contradicting.

According to your statement you were approved of private insurance which you also state paid most of the incurred birthing bills.

So why would the hospital still give you a discount rate to some of the bills if you had private insurance...hopefully you were paying this private insurance out of your pocket.
The discount is on the bills I incurred before the insurance was approved. I was admitted on 15th October through 30th October (Uninsured) - The hospital covered the cost incurred at that time.

I paid the insurance premiums out of pocket.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by olamie: 3:13pm On Mar 27, 2019
Babyvet:
You should be very concerned , you violated the terms of your visa , and then you used public funds to pay for part of your bill. They’re going to ask more about the charity care. So your saying the charity care is privately funded ?
I confirmed from the hospital before accepting and they said it is funded by the hospital itself (It is a private hospital).

The major part of the bill was incurred before insurance kicked off. The part taken care of by the hospital (in the zero balance statement) is labelled as "uninsured courtesy discount" - Has anyone heard of that?
