it your choice to choose as a baby farmer, but i think you should ask more inquires such as insurance etc b4 u think of unseen circumstance, let me put u true, calculate your gain turn over yearly compare with ur intend amount to collect to invest in a year, calculate the overall profit then deduct the our interest from it, then see if the remaining profit will be ok by you. try to get the statistics, those on the field will understand better.
Am not against you bro. ..........you are doing your job now. Am sorry if you've been disturbed.

As an intending farmer, its not advisable to start with loan.
There are lot of unforseen circumstances in agriculture.
For instance, rain usually begins from March and at worst April.
But this year was exceptional, nit until May ending and even June in some places.
Manage with what you have.
Start small
Grow big
My 2 cent
God bless you my sister. Just telling innocent minds not to jump from frying pan to fire.

Beginners in farming/agriculture, wait ooooo. Lets do little Maths. 2.2% interest in 12 month makes 26.4%. As a baby farmer, 100% ROI is not sure for most of us. What if we lose our investment due to unseen circumstances? Who will bear the repay? BOA 12% interest is what we are running away from, with 18 month repayment. What shall we call this 26.4% with 12 months repayment?

The picture is A fruit fly trap hanging on a mango tree with dead fruit flies. lt attracts males, which are lured into the trap thinking they are heading to females for mating but unknown to them, the scented trap is laced with some chemical that kills males. The more males that die, the lower the chances of fertilisation, meaning that finally, the pests are eradicated. One trap can attract insects from as far as a kilometre away but it is advisable to use each (trap) for a quarter acre piece of land. The trap can last up to three months before being changed. It can catch up to 1,500 male fruit flies. l am told it costs about N950 each here in Kenya.
Thanks Pavore. it is sold for N2,000 here in Nigeria.

Sincerely you are wrong with your assumption, come and get a gram of tomato seed in my office we will count it and you will know that something else went wrong which you could not trace. Many people can testify I will rather give you the least number of seeds you get per gram, I will never over estimate. Peace.
Mr Sam........... take it easy. If my perception is wrong, you dont need to reply in a bitter way.

With people like you, i doubt if this country can ever move forward. An sure you are older dan this poster and am very u people still depends on ur parents. just sit down and think and come back to check the advice you gave to the poster. Smh
Laaaaaaaffffff...... ;DAre u a practical farmer? am afraid, you are not. This guy is a 200 level student in a university. To start farming with 20k, it means the tedious labour works will shift onto you. As a university student, dont you see that kind of endeavour as detrimental to his study?. Moreso, if you are a responsible farther, and you sent a child to school, will you be happy seeing your child to come back home with "pass" ? Next time, mind your language. this is not PHONE section. tnx

Direct Seeding Vegetables.

Direct seeding is often the beginning of many vegetable gardens.

Seeding directly into the garden is the easiest and least expensive way to grow vegetables. However, you may not have the climate that will let you direct-seed some vegetables:
1. The seedlings may take longer to grow, making them more susceptible to weather conditions than transplants grown indoors.

2. The vegetables to grow from seed are those that will mature within the span of your growing season and those that don't like to be transplanted.

Soil Preparation:
The key to successful planting is proper soil preparation. When the soil is neither too wet nor too dry, turn the soil to a depth of 8 to 12 inches while adding organic matter. You should also apply a complete fertilizer, working it evenly into the soil.
As you're preparing the soil, remove all stones, rocks, lumps, and the assorted debris that accumulated.

Planting Depth:
The depth you plant your seeds depends on their size. They only need enough soil to cover them and supply moisture for germination. Seeds buried too deep may not be able to struggle through the soil to the surface.
As a rule of thumb, seeds should be covered up to twice their diameter at their largest point.
After you've set the seeds at the correct depth, firm the soil by tamping it with your hands or the end of your garden rake. This will improve contact between the seeds and the moist soil.

Seed Spacing:
Seed spacing is also critical: If plants are forced to grow too close together, they may produce little or no yield. If seeds are large enough to handle, such as beans and corn, it's fairly easy to space them correctly. But with tiny seeds, spacing can be tricky. Take your time in spacing while planting, but you'll still probably have to thin seedlings soon after germination.

Decide whether you'll sow seeds in a single row or a wide row. Vegetables such as beets, carrots, collards, kale, leaf lettuce, mustard, radishes, and spinach will produce nicely in wide rows while conserving space and water. The rows should be no wider than about 36 inches, making it easy to maintain and harvest vegetables.

Prepare the row by loosely raking the soil, leaving the indentations made by the rake. Sprinkle the seeds evenly over the soil, and use the rake to press them into the soil. Cover the row with a thin layer of soil, straw, or loose compost to help keep the soil moist.

Planting in a single row is the most commonly used seeding arrangement. It's the easiest to maintain because you can comfortably cultivate between rows, but it's the least economical. Plants dry out faster, and there is more unused garden space.
good

To my surprise, only 70 seedlings were transplanted. I suspect the seeds are not up to the stated number. I think it was less than hundred.
