chaircover: What I meant by lunch was the fried rice/jollof rice orishirishi. Sandwich ke. Even I just walked past their sandwiches LOL

Being my first visit to shoprite in Ibadan, I initially thought that the scanty turnout was because of the kenya mall massacre and people were now afraid to visit malls for now.

Its good jare. I just wish that there were shops like ASDA in Ibadan where I can pick up everything I need under one roof instead of going from shop to shop. Its very stressful. You buy tomatoes from the market, buy chicken from another shop, buy bags of pure water from the roadside and so on. I think they should focus more on Nigerian foods and supplies all under one roof.
But they also sell tomatoes, chicken, etc.
Their tomatoes are okay.

chaircover: Isnt a weekday lunch time period deemed to be peak hours with all the banks and traders around that area in the Dugbe/ogunpa/ekotedo axis? Lets also not forget all the staff who work in cocoa house too, Especially as shoprite does heaps of different hot foods at the deli and bakery counter?
yeah but our people don't 'lunch' that way. Don't compare with the way Oyinbos lunch. How many people lunch on sandwich in Naija. Check Shoprite out most evenings, they are making money.

BTW, we will get there wink
BusinessRe: Shoprite To Open Another Store In Ibadan by Olaone1: 7:05pm On Sep 29, 2013
chaircover: Yes my local ASDA store is virtually empty at 3am in the morning, but very busy during lunch times, so I dont think that it is a good idea to compare ASDA with Shoprite.

I was there and made a comment based on what I saw. If they are doing good, then thats great. I am all for biz because it provides jobs for people.
It wasn't an attempt to castigate you, Ma. We good

BusinessRe: Shoprite To Open Another Store In Ibadan by Olaone1: 6:50pm On Sep 29, 2013
chaircover: I was in Shoprite 2 days ago and it was virtually empty and there were def more staff than shoppers and I had a choice of which check out to use. We found a parking slot almost opposite the entrance and I am almost convinced that it is not as well stocked as the Lagos branches.

I understand that there is another one being built along ring road, but that has been under Construction for a while so maybe it makes sense for them to complete it, rather than just abandon it especially as the location is a very good one.

Not all branches of the same business make money, and some branches subsidize others, but they keep the biz open to keep the brand name alive and to make it look as if the brand is doing very well which in turn entices customers as we all like to be associated with successful brands.

Nevertheless, their meatpie is the best in Ibadan grin
Haba!
I'm sure your local Asda store is also virtually empty during off-peak hours. Let's be fair here. Do you expect the place to be bustling with life and shopping activities during off-peak hours; especially on a Thursday afternoon after the so-called Environmental?

Those guys are making a killing in Ibadan!

StateOfMind: Yes na..me I'm teamfoodco all day everyday cool..their bread still stands out for me. After the whole shoprite bread hype, I was so disappointed when I eventually tasted it cos I tot it would taste like bread made in heaven gringrin.

..And ever since foodco moved to idishin, I have never tasted any other fastfood's snacks, especially chicken pie. I can eat it in my dreams. grin
Shoprite bread is wack grin

StateOfMind: Very true. Even though idishin, where I stay isn't very far from dugbe . I personally don't see myself going to shoprite from my end when I can shop conveniently at foodco in jericho. So I don't expect someone staying in bodija, challenge, UI or iyana church as you said going all the way to heritage mall regularly cos of shoprite, except of course they have something else to do in the mall.
Really? cool cool

BTW, Foodco is okay. Luv their peppered chicken, Bread, Moin Moin and chicken pie

IslamRe: Reactions To Westgate Murders By Muslim Scholars/imams by Olaone1: 8:25pm On Sep 23, 2013
It is very hard for me to defend Western countries because they have done a lot of harm to many countries around the world. And, this issue is more political than religious right now. I understand the so-called terrorists and I understand what they want.

We all know it's worse in Palestine yet Nairalanders don't comment with so much empathy and Western media don't give it as much coverage.

But, it is wrong for some Muslim NLanders to attempt to dissociate Islam from the issue.

Yes, it is political but it's religious undertone cannot be overlooked.

(Hear the 'terrorists') read this:

After discovering the advertising producer was French, the men began to plead with her claiming that they were not monsters and that the Muslim faith ‘was not a bad one’.

‘He told me I had to change my religion to Islam and said “do you forgive us? Do you forgive us?’, Pauline told The Independent.

maclatunji: Hello people,

Yes, you are in the Islam section, keep your comments within the rules because I do sanction people with little or no hesitation.

Thank you.

Continuing on the topic: I think Aisha got bitten by the "I wanna be famous" bug. Nothing wrong with that but don't make yourself an object of ridicule.

Majority of Non-Muslims won't be impressed neither will sincere Muslims. It really is sad that she will now be subjected to much ridicule on many fronts.

Foreign AffairsRe: Vladimir Putin's Letter To America On The Syria Crisis by Olaone1: 4:42pm On Sep 13, 2013
Interesting comments from Yahoo!:
It starts with the comment below
Even if the Assad regime gave up all its weapons and his military dressed in Teddy Bear outfits armed only with tickling sticks the US would still find an excuse to launch an attack.
^^What America would say if Assad did this? Read this:
grin
Teddy Bears are dangerous and not only that but there is a military of them holding sticks! Children around the world cannot be traumatised with the sight that their favourite cuddly toy has turned into a tickling machine. STRIKE!
\/\/\/ America could also try this and, erm. . . erm, use CNN to inform jackasses around the world :
grin
The CIA funded Al Qaeda will just do another chemical attack and say 'Assad never handed them all over' - in the meantime all the main stream media will be banging the drums until almost all of you believe that Assad is a lunatic. Lies and propaganda that they always spew, if you repeat it often enough, and loud enough, get some celebrities to say they believe it and the sheep all follow.
And, finally:
Yes they will find an excuse to attack. Because this is not about Chemical Weapons. This is about Gas Pipelines. And the creation of 'Greater Israel'.
