Different Strokes for Different Folkes, i think their process is getting faster and perhaps different depending on the state, for me i didnt get my EAD, rather it was my Green Card, but my wait time was 5Months and 6Days . A friend in Maryland as well did not get EAD but her Green Card arrived after 6months and few days of her application. Dregeorge: Hi guys. It’s been a while Just to back up @airboy fact I got my work authorization approved today that’s under one month as well. I even got my driver’s license in less than 2months of my arrival. For anyone coming to Nevada if you need any info you can reach out. All the best |

Oh yea, I got my SSN few weeks after i got in, which even says (Valid for Work ) edimatsgal: Congratulations on your journey Ola. My interview was in April and I got to the states in May. It’s interesting to note that you got your SSN card before applying for AOS. . I was under the impression that you only get that after you apply for your AOS. |

Really? This is new to me. how does this work? recall the only mean of ID i have is my SSN and my international Passport, will that suffice? LegitBachelor: I think creating an account is easy to do. You both can create a joint account. |

yes , i have that, they needed more than one. LegitBachelor: @OLAOREOFE50, thanks for your update.
Regarding your application for State ID, the document that should have both your name and US address should be the letter from Social Security Administration. Another document is your joint bank account statement.
You are right about the k1 application not over even after getting the visa. It's a continuous journey. |

Hallelluyah!! LegitBachelor: Guys I have a testimony. I know this is not the religion thread but it's still related to this section.
So I usually keep my social security card locked in my "vault". But I was told by Bank of America that I will need to come with my social security card for them to update my bank account with my social security number. So I took out my card and placed it in between a book.
Now, when I was leaving the bank, I placed the book on my car so I can strap my daughter into the baby sear. So I forgot the book along with my social security card on the car and drove off. It was when I got home that I remembered my social security card and started wondering where I left it. I tried retracing my steps and also went to the bank but didn't see my card there. Then it occurred to me that perhaps I forgot it on the car....of course it was no longer there when I checked. I also checked where I parked the car when I went to the bank and it also wasn't there. Then it occurred to me that the book possibly still remained on the car until when i got to the highway where it possibly got blown away by the wind due to the car speed.
So I commenced searching for my social security card on the highway, at that point I had given hope that I will see my card. I thought about the stress of reporting my lost card to the police and the stress of applying to get a new card. I also thought about the risk of identity theft as my social security number is now exposed to anyone who finds my card.
But low and behold, I saw my book in the middle of the highway. It was battered beyond recognition as many cars have run it over but I did not see my card in it. The card is just a little paper and can be blown farther away due to the wind...so the chances of seeing my card is still slim. But I kept searching and then I saw it! I saw it stuck in a shrub farther off from where I saw the battered book. The card was not scratched one bit. It was as if someone just secured it for me. God is wonderful.
I will never be this careless with my card in the future. I hope you all learn from my mistake. I also want to share this testimony on God's Grace in my life. |

Very True. I was approved last year Feb from USCIS and i am currently in the US. my interview was May this year. its really dicey, i have people waiting as well. So you never can tell. Scenerios differ SmartJac: The thing is dicey, earlier in February this year, the available dates were only for 2023 but around March till early July this year closer dates of one to two months period became available in 2022, dates can be available at anytime. Cases differ for each individual and so you can not use the case of someone with Noa1 of 2021 January who just got interview date recently as your yardstick to judge because you don’t know what caused the person delay outside the normal processing time. I know people whose K1 cases got approved from uscis to nvc including their interview just between March last year and July this year. Just stay positive and pray to your God |

you have to wait for the sms and go the next day after you receive the SMS (Not the same day) Nommsy: Hello Airboy333, please how do you know when visa is ready for collection. They said I will receive both email and sms. I got an email that says document has been picked up from consulate. Does this mean I can go to DHL in Lagos or should I still wait for sms before embarking on journey? |

Congratulations Everyone JadesolaAde: Congratulations quote author=ezinwaJesu post=112266056]Let me first thank God Almighty who made it possible that we embark on this process and see it to the end. I reserve my special thanks to all the great comrades in this house for your immense contributions. Truly, Nairaland is a university with distinction.
I finally went for my interview today and got approved. I will say, 98% of cases that were interviewed today got approval. That was really encouraging especially when you stand in the line and see people ahead of you going home with slips and smiles on their faces. It was even more encouraging that you could hear all the transcripts today and that helps the person next in line to be better prepared knowing the likely question to be answered.
My transcript was one of the simplest and most straightforward.
VO: What is your name. Anw: .....
VO: Raise your right hand and take the oath: Answ: I did
VO: Have you ever been married Anw: No
VO: Do you have kids Anw: No
VO: Does you fiancee have kids Answ: No
VO: has she ever been married Anw: no
VO: What is her occupation Anw: I told him. (VO replied: that's wonderful)
VO: Place your right four fingers on the scanners. ( Repeated same for thumbs)
VO: Where did you meet her Answ: I told him
VO: When last did she visit you. Anw: I told him two months ago
VO: I will approve your visa. Once you travel to the US, you must marry within 90 days. But if you chose to change your mind, you must leave the US as soon as you decide.
VO: Passed a printout to me with description on how to pick up my visa and passport.
When I stepped outside, I could hear the song "a new day has come". The feeling cannot be explained. Called my fiancee who has been awake all night waiting for the news. The rest was history.
Anyone reading this, may you receive favour. Isee...Iseee...Iseee!!! |
