Up next. Basketball. Lets hope Nigeria wins on a high. |
akintun: We put a lot of pressure on dat girl, and I saw it on her face in d semi finalI agree. She carried 160 million people on her shoulder. |
There goes our brightest medal chance out of the window. Long Jump will be tougher because she's suffered the emotional bruise. Nigeria so unlucky. She beat them all in prelims, but couldnt beat them in final. |
HA! This thing pain me ooo. Blessing was too slow out of the blocks. She took the field for granted! And once the start went poor, she gave up |
These gals are all pumped up! It will be decided from the start! |
The time is nigh...Nigeria will get her first medal soon. Pray it is gold. |
Olamisoji: Is ajoke odumosu not in d olympics at allJoke runs tomorrow in the 400m hurdles heat. I pray she makes the final of her event too. |
3 Americans, 2 Africans, 2 Jamaicans, 1 from trinidad. Alyson Felix will not come near 1st 5. I predict Blessing (gold)-Jeter(silver)- Shelly Fraser(bronze). Patriotism driving me |
Blessing gets lane 6 for the final. That is very nice! She's beside Jeter and Shelly Price. Now this is very good. She can react better with Shelly Ann fraser-pryse beside her. If these 3 are level at any point before 60m, then Blessing will win gold. |
hollandis: I have no hope for d tigers ,off I go ...where are you going? Wont you wait for the final? abi you got the tickets free ni? |
Future is good for Nigeria's 400m women! Lara ran a brilliant race. Places 4th. 51.41 is a good time for a 21 year old. Please let us send this gal to America to start training for next olympics. Let her be under coach Egbunike, Lara can be dominant. |
51.35 is not a bad time for a 21 year old. Lara up next. |
Too much for Regina. But she is one for the future. She was reacting to the people in front of her. |
Regina up first. She has big sister Amantle Montsho to guide her through the race. |
Lara and George need to execute their races and not panic. One of them will go through. |
Our 400m gals are the youngest in the field. I really hope they put up brave fights. Lara was almost crying yesterday, I hope she can execute her race well today. Regina can qualify. She is a lioness. |
akintun: Okagbare has used up lots of energy. I hope she recoversShe has 2 hours bro. She will recover and she will come better. I am very happy and confident how she masters the race from 40m. I only fear for those Jamaicans who always have brilliant starts. Blessing can run, but can she catch them because Jamaicans will be ahead after 10m, but they may not be able to hold on. In 10 minutes, we will see Nigeria's future 400m runners. Lara and Regina. Raw talents. |
Haa. She scared me!She's not happy with her start. Ahoure also in! I told people that Keron Stewart wont run in final! Blessing, please work on your start! You have few minutes to speak to your coach |
Phew! Blessing has chosen a lane far from others. She wants to execute her technique well. C'mon Blessing. C'mon Ahoure. I want 2 Africans in the final. |
bjdon: very poor start just from Gloria in the 100m Semi cost her.Correct. Gloria usually has a bullet start. But never mind those Jamaicans. I still am confident Blessing will come up with something around 10.80 in the next semi |
Welldone Gloria. I am ok with that position. You have tried! Take a bow and go prepare for the relays. |
If Gloria Asumnu can come top 5, I will take! |
Something is wrong with the coaching. No one know how he was feeling. If he completed that race with that technique, it might result in injury. He was bound to hit a hurdle, and I think it was better to quit where he did. |
bjdon: Morton was an absolute disgrace! Such poor technique it's unreal.I disagree. He whole-heartedly chose to run for Nigeria. Thats enough. He obviously lacks adequate technical input from the coaches. If he gets a world class coach, he can be the best within 4 years. He's amongst the youngest in the field also. If Nigeria had supported him more, maybe he wont be dropping out like that. |
akintun: I knew Morton was injured after d semi finalsHe wasnt injured!! His technique was clearly not working after 200m. But he should have finished the race. I will try get to him later tonight. He normally gets into his strides at around 200m, but today, he clearly wasnt counting the 13 steps after 100m. Lets get this behind us and look towards blessing Okagbare. |
Shame. His technique has always been a big question. |
Only a PB will take Amaechi through. Big moment for my man |
Amaechi Morton comes in next. He needs to avoid hitting the hurdles. I hope he makes it. |
when is the time for semi final and final respectively?
Blessing runs at about 7:51pm and Gloria runs 8 minutes before that. The final is at 9:55pm, 20 minutes before Nigeria vs Argentina basketball. I hope it ends well for Nigeria today. |
Within the next 3 hours, Nigeria will win an Olympic medal. It can be gold, it can be silver, it can be bronze, but we will enter the zone today. Blessing Okagbare should take a Nigerian flag with her when she goes out for the final tonight. She will need it. |
Nigeria will win a medal tonight though. By Monday morning, I expect 2 medals for Nigeria. 100m women and +77kg weightlifting women. |
All Nigerian 100m runners out in round 1. I said it since March that they should never have been sent to Atlanta to train. They are past their prime..if they ever had a prime. |
