oloriooko: Love this aruna guy spirit, full of confidence and skillful.

Is this his first olympic?
Yes this is his first Olympic. Aruna gives me hope in Nigerian TT. He has the passion lacking in the other olympians. He wants it really bad. I pray he makes it tomorrow.

hardeyincah: As It stand now, is there any doubles for the male... I mean Uncle Segun and Aruna...
Sorry no doubles. All three are out and should start preparing for next olympic. Segun Toriola's forehand play failed him today.

Sunday:
1st NIgerian show is D'TIGERS. Our group of exciting young men take on African Champs Tunisia. I expect a very interesting match. A win will be very good for Nigeria's chances of qualifying for quarter final. 9am Nigerian time. Watch out for Al-Farouk Aminu, Ike Diogu and Adeola Dagunduro...and Olumide Oyedeji as captain fantastic. Dont miss this game.
11:00- Aruna Quadri takes part in round 2 against a Turkish opponent.
14:30-Johny Akinyemi goes out as lowest ranked athlete in the Men's Kayak single. Wishing him luck.
So only 3 sports for Nigeria tomorrow. I pray for at least 2 of 3 successes.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 7:41pm On Jul 28, 2012
Thats it for today. Nigeria 20% success on day 1. Poor start. 1 Boxer and 3 Table Tennis players out. Not our strong points or medal expectations. Not too bad, only disappointment.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 7:39pm On Jul 28, 2012
Segun OUT! Aruna is Nigeria's only success on day 1.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 7:33pm On Jul 28, 2012

hardeyincah: Mr Ola Pluto, is Aruna Q better than Uncle Toriola cos I hardly know Him..... And. What has happen to dis family sister's playing table tennis KAFAYAT and GANIYAT....
Aruna is the most in form Nigerian no doubt. Segun almost out! 3-0 down. He has to win all remaining games. Unlikely, except he gets a miracle.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 7:16pm On Jul 28, 2012
Segun loses 2nd game. 11-7. Now 0-2 down against a 46 year old Swede. He needs to win this game
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 7:10pm On Jul 28, 2012
Segun Toriola loses 1st game 11-8. Toriola is a superb player, The swede has blunt reflexes, I expect Segun to win 4-2.
Sports › Re: Should Eko Atlantic City Bid For 2028 Olympics by olapluto(m): 7:06pm On Jul 28, 2012
The boys from ABUJA will feed fat! I estimate a budget of 100 Trillion Dollars! And they will ask for more! For now, corruption will not let us honestly host any games. Nigerians are not ready for such big stuff.

hardeyincah: . Pls help me tell Funke to go and start a table tennis Academy for female....
I will respect her for that. She should stop competing but start coaching. But I reckon she has 2 more olympics left in her. Table Tennis doesnt require much power, just mental alertness.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 4:49pm On Jul 28, 2012
Final Nigerian appearance of the day is at 7pm. When baba Sege Toriola takes to the table.

Final Nigerian show today is in Men's table tennis singles. 2 Nigerian men featuring. Not a good day for Nigeria so far. 3 out of 5 Nigerians out after 1st day.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:55pm On Jul 28, 2012
A white man has sold a bogus CV to our officials and they dumped Nigerian coach who has nurtured these guys. Na basket we go use carry defeat come home. This is a shame! Why do we always press self-destruct button?
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:53pm On Jul 28, 2012
If they dont come back home to take the National coach that trained these guys, I will not watch any of the boxing. This is a shame
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:51pm On Jul 28, 2012
Akanji is out jare. Losing round 2 by 8-2. His legs are wobbly and that is the end! But why is Nigeria like this. They ruined Kehide Obareh's chances by chosing a different coach for her. This is unfair. This coach doesnt even know Akanji's strength. I am guessing this guy was employed in Surrey! Insulting Nigerians!
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:44pm On Jul 28, 2012
Round 1 over. Nigeria down by 1 point. Not bad. Now he needs to up his game. 6 minutes remaining to stay at Olympics.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:38pm On Jul 28, 2012
hardeyincah: i sthere no doubles teams or mixed doubles for her?
None of them qualified for mixed doubles. Egyptians won it at the All African games in Maputo...Nigeria up next...But why did they drop our coach for Oyinbohuh
Sports › Re: Nigeria Olympic Thread...to Be Updated Regularly by olapluto(op): 3:33pm On Jul 28, 2012
Muideen Akanji about to come out now. Scores are not displayed during rounds anymore, so he has to fight and fight. A Ugandan friend told me how his country boxer lasted only 15 seconds at one olympics. Got into the ring and took a deadly punch-knockout. Lets hope Akanji can push through. Meanwhile, Anthony Ogogo representing Britain is in the ring.
