Politics › Re: Reports From International Organizations About Nigeria: How Factual? by olapluto(m): 6:25pm On Nov 15, 2012
shymexx: Yes, there's propaganda against Nigeria and the rest of Africa by the west... And hell yeah, there's a conspiracy against Africa... However, we can't continue to blame everyone except ourselves for our woes...

Are people from the west the ones looting your sovereign wealth? - Nigeria is messed up on so many levels and we're the architects of our own woes... China didn't just sit down and blame the west when the west imposed arms embargo on China in 1991... The military complex and survival spirits of the Chinese led to their industrial growth and the rise of China... China is about to become the largest economy in the world... Yet Nigerians are still looking for who to blame smh...
No one is blaming the West! I rather blame the less intelligent ones amongst us who swallow 'western concoted lies' hook, line and sinker. If you tell a child who's scoring 55% that he is an olodo, he may try harder the next attempt. If he gets 50% next attempt, he starts to doubt himself. The more you downgrade a flimsy person, the less they believe in themselves. I think for every report that comes out, Nigerians need to pause and think.
Yes Nigeria is not the best it can be, but by how much are we behind? I live in the 'West' and do not see an insummountable gulf in class between Africa and the west. The only gulf is in believe.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Hamas Military Chief Killed In Israeli Airstrike, War Says Hamas!!! by olapluto(m): 11:50pm On Nov 14, 2012
The only difference between Israel and South-Africa of pre 1991 is RELIGION. Israel gets its strength from brainwashed religious fanatics who believe any enemy of Israel should be killed. Most forget that biblical Israel is not the Zionist Israel. Zionism is the most extreme form of racism. It is a radical idea funded by money and religious sentiments. Jews oppose zionism. I have included below some shocking videos of the horrors caused daily by Israelis on Palestinians.
Shame on us all as humans if we dont condemn Israel. Hamas is NOT a terrorist organisation. Hamas is like the ANC of Nelson Mandela. They are freedom fighters. They are recognised by most foreign governments including the British govt.

If you ask me, I say the MOGs and Daddy GOs are to blame. If a boy grows up seeing his father smoke pipe, and he starts to sniff marijajay at 14, I think he is omobolanle. With MOGs now using plane, it is only fair that SOGs use bentley....and the money can come from anywhere.
Politics › All General Overseers Must Go To Prison - Pastor Tunde Bakare (Video) by olapluto(op): 12:35am On Nov 13, 2012
I do not agree a lot with Pastor Bakare, but on this one, I agree.

If trully the laws of the land are to be properly applied, ALL MOGs and daddy G.Os will be in jail for fraud, corruption and deception.

If we can manage to rid Nigeria of religious leaders who collect money from Politicians, I think we have solved 30% of our problem.

OK I have lived and worked in Britain and I disagree with you sir! I have worked in R&grin and I can assure you they have a lot of PhD holders working for them. I worked in a team of 6, with 4 of us having PhD and post doc experience of over 3-10 years. I doubt if the company can move forward if PhD holders dont hold so much role. I can safely tell you that over 60% of people working in that R&grin are PhD holders. about 20% of the remaining are experienced researchers with at least MSc. The remaining few are fresh grads undergoing training. Forget the hollywood stories of bill gates, steve job et al. Their companies are nothing without the researchers working day and night to improve them. Imagine if iPhone was still its model of 4 years ago? Researches are still on going to improve it. Obadiah, you need to stick to the facts on ground. If you do not know the facts, its better to go sleep.

anti-cancer drugs ? there is no cure for the damn thing. so much for your phd losers

all the artificial intelligence machines are designed in china by high school kids

you know what your problem is ? while the rest of the world have wisened up to the fact that vocation studies is the way to go, you africans still clutch desperately to your phds but not as a means to innovate but as a social status symbol. thats the only reason you get it
You're just throwing inaccuracies all over the place. Yes there are Anti Cancer drugs. Yes there are over 100 PhDs currently going on in various aspects of improving cancer treatment. Yes Phds currently going on in AI.
The world simply CANNOT move forward without PhDs. Israel vs Iran is really not BiBi vs Ahmedinijad. It is Israel's PhD vs Iran PhD. When you get to the interphase of world development, where things really happen, you will only see PhD there. How did computers drop in size from the one a room extra large mini memory gadget to a palm size I can walk around with? Answer: PhD.

You're the kind of person I listen to in a barber's shop and wont respond to. How intelligent is that bolded part? The mobile phone that rings and you press the green button is the cumulative work of researchers. The touch screen is not the idea of a college drop-out. Can a dropout formulate anti-cancer drugs? can a college dropout design artificial intelligence machines? Unfortunately we hear the hollywood story of some dropouts who have idea, but get developed by PhD holders.

He wears suit, he talks nonsense (typical). He doesnt even understand what a PhD is. As someone in science and at the very cutting edge, I tell you that the world cannot advance without PhDs. It is only a narrow minded thinker that sees PhD as only needed in academia. PhD is about innovation. If Dangote's PhD holders actually carried out a proper research with a meaningful conclusion, then they have a source of livelihood for a long time. What did they do their PhD in? Do they have publications? Why havent they carried their research further? Why decide to go and kill their braincells behind the wheel on the Nigerian highway?
Politics › Re: PhD, MBA Holders Apply As Truck Drivers At Dangote Group by olapluto(m): 1:26am On Nov 04, 2012
Either Dangote is a LIAR or the PhD holders applied for another position within the company. It defeats the meaning of PhD to be driving trucks. A phD should mean you're a demi-god in your field. A properly done phD will make you an authority of sort. You CANNOT lack job. Except in Nigeria, people get PhD by marking undergraduate student works and butt-licking professors around.
A properly done PhD will have taken at least 3 years of hard work and research. You conclude with a 70,000 ish word write-up on your work. Anyone who has done so much extensive work and then decides to go back to the brain draining truck driving shame of Dangote shouldnt be taken serious.
Dangote truck driving scheme is a big dent on Nigeria and it is exposing the sorry state of our nation.
Dangote can do a Truck Driving apprenticeship program. He can recruit secondary school leavers and train them to be good truck drivers. He only went to BSc and MBA level because Nigeria is flooded with all sorts of BSc holders who are not up to standard. It is a big shame.

very gullible you! Read and re-read the article. Where in it does it say Islam/Muslims? Now let me open your eye to how you are being manipulated. Prostitution is not allowed in Islam. Forced prostitution is frowned against even more. But I suspect that once you saw 'Afghan girl' and the word 'beheaded', you assumed Islam. And the writer knows that his target are people like you, so in a mid paragraph, he brings in the Taliban and uses the word 'Islamic Taliban'. You have been well and trully wrapped up by the writer.
Now un-wrap yourself, reread the article and make a better judgement of it.

Looks like the shape of Nigerian football team can be seen from this stat. Baring any exceptional talents, Yorubas seem to be more effective finishers, SE/SS mostly midfielders. Defense not so certain, but mostly SS/SW/SE. Wingers and committed utility players: North. Goalies: SW.
If you need a player in the national team to run into bricks for you for the whole 90 minutes, go to Kano state or anywhere up North. I think its a very decent balance and any coach who uses this formula will most likely get results. Also, our best midfielders seem to be Southerners that grow up in the North. Mikel Obi, Victor Moses are recent examples. I think football discipline is more up North than down Souths
I watched the U17 today, and it was very similar and they looked sharp.
P.S. I do not intend tribal war here, just stating my own observations.
Politics › Re: Achebe: There Was Never A Country by olapluto(m): 5:22pm On Oct 14, 2012
MAYOWAAK: Let us examine certain area from the book that has generated so much furor in the polity:

When it comes to how Ojukwu starved his own people to death, by admission of Achebe himself, this is how Rudolf Okonkwo, one of the reviewers of the book, puts it; “Achebe argues that some questions will be debated for generations. One of such questions has to do with the security reasons behind Ojukwu’s rejection of Nigeria’s Federal Government’s proposal for a road corridor for food and the Federal Government’s rejection of Ojukwu’s alternative.”

When it comes to rejection of Ojukwu’s alternative by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Prof. Achebe was quoted as follows:

”It is my impression that Awolowo was driven by an overriding ambition for power, for himself and for his Yoruba people. There is, on the surface at least, nothing wrong with those aspirations.

“However, Awolowo saw the dominant Igbos at the time as the obstacles to that goal, and when the opportunity arose — the Nigeria-Biafra war — his ambition drove him into a frenzy to go to every length to achieve his dreams. In the Biafran case, it meant hatching up a diabolical policy to reduce the numbers of his enemies significantly through starvation — eliminating over two million people, mainly members of future generations.”

This is a wonderful peek into the Biafracentric frame of mind of a man that wrote that attack. So, the Federal Government actually made a proposal for a road corridor for food to the starving women and children of Biafra and Ojukwu rejected it for “security reasons?” That does not really sound like a people with genocidal intentions to me; ask Rwandans if you care to know.
Let us dwell on these. Security reasons for Ojukwu, Genocidal ethnocentric ambitions for Awo. Funny how someone much younger than Achebe can see through his bigotry.
Politics › Re: Achebe: There Was Never A Country by olapluto(m): 4:23pm On Oct 14, 2012
Something with the Biafra war is that the story has not being fully told. I am just learning in this article that FGN actually offered a food corridor, which Ojukwu rejected based of security concerns. FGN was ready to feed the women and children. Awo also stated in his interview that food was being send to Biafra but the soldiers were starving their own people while eating to sustain the war. My Igbo brothers chose to ignore these facts. Lets forget Awo and start to say things as they are for the sake of generations yet unborn.

Ok this is a touchy issue, and I was listening to a BBC podcast where a simple analogy was made. What is the difference between Bishop(?) Oyedepo slapping an innocent child in the front of almost 1 thousand people congregation, and the people of ALUU lynching 4 university students in the full glare of the villagers.
The people who do not see anything wrong in Oyedepo slapping an innocent child (helpless) should re-examine their reaction to the ALUU 4. Are we a nation of selective justice? Do we stand up for each other honestly or do the rich get away with things? There is a video of near lynching on Youtube. I have attached a lynching video of journalists which did not get as much reaction from people. It is good we are all demanding justice for the #ALUU4, but then let us use this opportunity to address violence in our system.
Attached is the video:
