An Update in the athletics. Lauretta Ozoh will not be running for Nigeria at the olympics. I think Damola Osayomi will replace her in 100m and Blessing Okagbare will be given the spot for 200m. This is semi good news because I believe Blessing can also get to the final in 200m, and Damola looks to be running good now. Bad thing is that we are stripped 2 gold medals we won in Porto Novo at African champs. Both Damola and Blessing were on reserve for 100m and 200m respectively.
As for Regina George, I knew she was clean as she is a raw talent.
As for Viv. Chukwuemeka, she should be banned from anything sports for life. She is a bad influence on upcoming talents. She has a hand in the doping of one of Nigeria's best youth athlete then, Amaka Ogeogbulam. Now Amaka has been suspended and just returned, she cannot compete on that high level again. It seems any young athlete that mingles with Vivian ends up testing positive for dope. She should never be allowed near even interhouse sports competitions. She was never a medal prospect anyway.

Felix is done! Coaches in Nigeria need real koboko. They were trying to push him too hard. Though I was not at his training, but trying to push him 8kg higher on round 2 is too much. He carried 180Kg easily, they should have gone for 185 or 183 instead of trying to carry 188. He failed in the 188 anyways and needs to wait till evening to see if he falls into top 8. For now, Felix is winning silver. Thats if the remaining 8 lifters(all better than him) dont turn up.

ogbeche77: How was the performance of our weightlifter in the 75kg category today? Any update guys
Felix Ekpo currently 2nd in his group. I think he's yet to be done though. Currently lifted 330KG(4 times my body weight). He is on course for a good run. But it is not easy guys!!! See his picture courtesy of BBC. Boys are not schmiling!

semid4lyfe: I expected the loss but not by that wide a margin undecided

For me, our victory over them in Venezuela was just a one off and wasn't going to be repeated.

I expect us to lose our next 3 games too embarassed
Believe it or not, I expect Nigeria to go through by beating France or (and)Argentina. they will also stand up to the USA. I havent lost hope yet.
Weightlifting going on this morning. I am at work, but will try to keep all abreast. Felix Ekpo not expected to win medal, but a top 8 finish will be OK.

hollandis: Are you for real? 10.11 seconds and he is representing us ,wtf .what's the difference between this and the women world record of 10.49 seconds.Nigeria shouldn't have wasted tax payers funds by sending this mediocres .
angry
My sentiments exactly. These guys were sponsored to America many months ago to prepare for Olympics. The best some of them came back home with is 10.11s, and even that could not be repeated! I personally think Nigeria will not produce good male sprinters until coaches are able to dissuade sprinters from taking on to football. However, we have some exciting new talents coming up. Seye Ogunlewe is one of them. The coaches and former athletes are also doing a good job in bringing 'home' talents developed in America. Regina George, Idara Otu, Christy Udoh are all 'fresh' athletes who have just been given Nigerian citizenship though they were raised in America. I expect us to have good sub 10 runners within 2 years. Our administrators just need to get serious. A man of 30 years has no business in sprinting anymore. Be it 100m or 400m. Sports scholarship should have age limit. Imagine if a 30 year old woman had taken up scholarship meant for Blessing Okagbare. We wont have a star today!

Its a good thing that we feel bad losing to Lithuania. We're ranked 21st, they're ranked 4th. I just pray we can keep the scores low against USA and Argentina. France we can beat. That should be our ticket to quarter finals

DAY 2. No medal hopes dashed as of yet. Any medal outside Taekwando and Athletics will be a bonus. BUT I believe one or two wrestlers can go far. Boxing =0 hope (male and female) because too much politics being played out. They left the best at home and took mediocre coaches with them. They went to a gym in Surrey and handed olympic coaching to one average Oyinbo.
Weightlifting, we can win one bronze in Mariam Usman.

ortopazz: ah ah I feel say Naija full london, wetin happen na?
Nigerians full London, in fact, we full ground for Stratford, but the way the ticket is, its hard to get. They were sold by lottery a long time ago. You bid, so its luck. Except we get other people selling their own tickets, we may not get in to most matches. And these tickets are expensive. I found ticket for women 100m final for £295. Thats almost 75,000 naira for one small corner of the stadium, where I may not even see the race clearly.

stevenosa: When you are in the Northern part of this country, called Nigeria, you must do and obey the tradition of the inhabitant of that part. Now, they are here in the South complaining of ORO disturbing their movement. Are they the only people that were affected by the restriction? Those who knows the tradition in that part of the State have all moved to nearby towns, while should a stranger now be the one to go to the government and report. Time is running out my people. The earlier we stand our ground, the better.
Who are the 'they'? Some people have so much hatred, but they very easily hide it behind the 'cool, loving xtianity', which is not the case at all. In most indigenous Yoruba villages, you have a 70-30 Muslim-pagan population. Now reframe your 'they'
Politics › Re: Tension In Ogun As Muslims, Traditionalists Clash by olapluto(m): 11:13am On Jul 29, 2012
CHouse: But seriously why is it always the muslims vs adherents of other faith. From d recent embarassing Oloolu saga in which i was highly disappointetd in my yoruba brothers inaction on the situation to Anambra mosque demolition to the apparent cleansing of the Christians up-north. Cant y'all just live and let others livehuh Why must it always be violence, tension, enmity wherever you people are. Places where relative peace can be found are regions where other faiths have been subjugated or totally wiped out yet you clamour for religious freedom and equity in places where you are the minority. It's a shame my yoruba people are losing it in the aspect of the protection of their cultural and religious heritage. We risk to have the destruction of important cultural sites as being experienced in mali replicate itself in Southwest Nigeria if the excesses on the part of these islamists isn't curbed on time.
You're not being honest with yourself, or you chose to blindly follow a thought school. Wake up and look around you..
What angers me by the way about Muslims is how fvcking hypocritical they are.

They want to ask you to do for them what they would never do for you.

How many Christians are in Muslim universities in the world? -MANY

How many Islamic clerics do you see giving money to Christians? -MANY

In Nigeria, they are not persecuted at all in the south, yet in the north Christians are killed arbitrarily. -NOT ENTIRELY TRUE

Hypocritical-azz muthafuckas, for real.
NO. we play Lithuania next on Tuesday at 14:30 Nigerian time.
And for those empty seats, its due to the lottery in ticket sales. I looked for tickets for the game, but it was all SOLD OUT! Obviously not according to the crowd. Its unfortunate London olympics will not be remembered for supportership.
