All these ethnic thugs are hurting the image of the president, the earlier he stamp his authority on them, the better. If he can fulfil a quarter of the promises he made during the 2011 electioneering campaign. am okay by that.
Salam Alaikum. Ola_pluto reporting for duty! There is nothing extra-ordinary about me. Male, closer to 30 than 20, born Muslim, started practising less than a decade ago, still striving to stop some bad bad things I do.
Nairaland Islamic section is a fun and educative place to be. I do not think I know anyone here, but I naturally take you all as my brothers and Sisters.
Don't tell me you are a newbie. Lol.
PoliticsRe: Election Of The Aare Ona Kakanfo Leader Of NL Yorubas Declared NULL & VOID by olawalebabs(m): 9:24pm On Apr 11, 2012
Jarus: My apologies for showing up late here.

First, I'm humbled by the consideration for this respected position in Yorubaland. I'm especially surprised because I'm not so much into ethno-cultural things on Nairaland. Making it more surprising is the fact that I have also found myself defending other tribes(or people of other tribes) in the past, especially Hausa/Fulani and my mentor, Sanusi, to the extent that I had been labeled a Yoruba sell-out(omo ale) on Nairaland far back 2008! With this history, I was surprised seeing my name repeatedly being mentioned by my tribesmen and friends of our great race.

This is a position I would have loved to take, if not for anything, to work with leaders of other groups to stem tribalism on Nairaland. But the issue is, I'm too level-headed and too detribalized to be the leader of any tribe. By my reading the expectation of my people here is that Aare should be a fighter, a waarior(just war at least), and I'm clearly not qualified. I cannot be at the forefront of Igbo-Yoruba or Hausa-Yoruba wars on Nairaland. But if it's about representing Yoruba and presenting Yoruba agenda in decision making, then that is fine.

Pabambari e, being a mod here, I should not be the face of any tribe.

While thanking people that nominated me, I hereby withdraw.

If I'm qualified to nominate then 3 people readily come to mind.

Katsumoto: He is an enclypedia of Yoruba political history, but with doubts around his Yorubaness, I rule him out

Becomrich: Nobody here is as passionate about Yoruba race as Aare Mapomeji. But with concerns about his upstairs, he is out for me too

Dayokanu: DK comes from the lineage of the penultimate Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief S.L Akintola, for the records. But beyond that he is a proud Yoruba guy and will surely fit into the expectation of many peole here on ideal Nairaland Aare Yoruba: he can deliver fatal punches to other tribes when war starts!
brother, you did not disapoint me. You've said it all.

Seconded.
Goes to show that the ediot poster is not Yoruba.
I also doubt his yorubaness.
PoliticsRe: Election Of The Aare Ona Kakanfo Leader Of NL Yorubas Declared NULL & VOID by olawalebabs(m): 3:33pm On Apr 11, 2012
I don't have intention of nominating, but 'Aare Onakankanfo' is not the same as yoruba leader. Get that straight.

IslamRe: Let Us Celebrate by olawalebabs(m): 9:26pm On Apr 08, 2012
maclatunji: Abeg what kind of flavour does Ajanosi add? Is it vanilla, strawberry, chocolate or curry? Are lectures supposed to be flavoured? If I want to go for a concert, I should know I am going for a concert and if it is a lecture I am attending, it should be just that.
there's nothing bad if sermon is a little bit 'entertaining' once, the message is not lost. I've no problem with that.
IslamRe: Let Us Celebrate by olawalebabs(m): 9:24pm On Apr 08, 2012
maclatunji: People keep on talking about this guy. I don't think I have ever heard any of his lectures though.
where are you staying.
toba: at times when i listen to those sermon on TV, the ajanosi can be nuisance with intermitten interruptions

Ajanosi add the flavour to waasi. Buhari said he has his target audience that's why he's preaching that way. (though i don't support his style)

deols: marrying a nonMuslim woman is a big gamble.
real gamble. But the sisters too make it inenvitable at times
IslamRe: Marriage: Hijabi Or Non-hijab by olawalebabs(m): 8:45am On Apr 08, 2012
Jarus: Some 2-3 years ago, Ndi (NSE DG) banned dressing in Hijab, in fact scarf, on the floor of the stock exchange, as if the Hijab stopped them from doing their job. It was at the height of that woman's uncontrolled power in NSE and few people dared look at her in the face.

One of IBTC's key stockbrokers, G(full name withheld, a year my senior in Ife), was an Hijab-wearing sister(very small Hijab for that matter). IBTC needed to take a decision based of DG's new dress code. She offered to resign instead of going to the floor of the exchange without head cover. But she was too valuable to be left by IBTC, so they took it up. They beckoned on some powerful Hausa big men who run things in this country(and are on the board of virtually every corporation, including NSE or know top guys there) and they got NSE DG to reverse the decision, which is stupid anyway because their brain and not their Hijab will do the work.
where am i when this was happening.

IslamRe: He's A Muslim by olawalebabs(m): 6:22am On Apr 08, 2012
@Tbaba, I agree with muslim men marrying the people of the book, but for those ladies to keep their religion is what am confuse about. There's an hadith that state that Men (as the head of the family) will give account of his family. i.e man is responsible for his immediate family actions and inactions. (wife inclusive)

You can say that again, not only education that is witnessing decline. All other sector is also. You will be surprise by the yearly statistic being release by waec and neco year in, year out. It really calls for sober reflection as to what brought us to this pitiable condition.

I'm interested in this topic.

Somebody mentioned Onyeruke's ban on hijab-wearing stockbrokers on the floor on page 1, yeah, it's a case I'm familiar with and know some of the players!
can you please shade more light on this?
