Travel / Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by ollyruffy: 11:34pm On Oct 09, 2020
Gudnexvincent01:
Hello everyone. So my question today is:

Will having a traditional wedding disqualify is from getting the K1 Visa? My parents are insisting on a traditional wedding since they won’t be available for the white wedding when we eventually go to the US. So can we have a small traditional ceremony to make up for that. What will be the result of that? Does the embassy regard traditional wedding as being married?

I was moved to respond to your question so that you don't jeopardize your visa chances of approval.

My sincere and technical advise to you is not to do any form of traditional marriage before you enter the U.S. on K1. If you conduct the marriage, it is not technically advisable to hide it from the VO since terms of your visa is against any form of marriage before you use the visa. If you hide and they find out during your interview, point of entry or later in the U.S. You have technically commuted a visa fraud and can lead to a bigger problem for you and your spouse. Lieing or hiding is not permitted or tolerated in U.S. immigration process.

If you conduct the marriage and tell the VO, it is the VO's discretion to deem you married or not. There is a 50% chance the VO might deem you married. If that happens, your visa will be denied and the K1 petition be sent back to USCIS to expire. It is not advisable to take this risk because many people have been denied K1 in the past based on deem married.

You can conduct traditional marriage after you have your advance parole. This will be after your wedding in the U.S. and you have filed for adjustment of status.

Wish best of luck !

Religion / Re: Coronavirus: Winners Chapel Reacts To Criticism Of Service Held On Sunday 22nd by ollyruffy: 7:48pm On Mar 23, 2020
One of the most stupid excuse I have read in a while.

I am not surprised at the action of the church. Their business is more important to them than the lives of their followers. Most likely the church still collected offerings from the attendees of the service.

I only pity the gullible followers. Even the GO himself is afraid of the virus and the followers went to pay offerings and risk getting infected on top of it.

I think most of these pastors are miracles workers. They should start using their miracles hands to cure corona virus patients. It's time for them to proof to the world that nigeria has many miracles hands.

This is why I never have a pity for any nigerian police man or woman when misfortune catches them.

This is a very sad story.

Travel / Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer Pt. 2 by ollyruffy: 7:34pm On May 05, 2019
Hello VO,

It is very sad the way our case was handled by the immigrant unit of US Embassy.

We sent them international passports since March 26, the passports were delivered to the embassy on March 28. We sent several emails to them through the month of April asking if they have our passports. They refused to reply our emails, only for them to call us on phone on 30th April that they do not have our passports. The following day, DHL confirmed to us with signed proof that the embassy received the passports. We have informed embassy by email again using LagosIV@state.gov that the passports were delivered with name of the embassy employee who signed for the passports. Same silent treatment is what we are getting. They are not replying our emails. We tried to call on phone . We were turned down that we can not speak to the immigrant unit by phone, that we must send email, we have sent emails but they had refused to reply us.

Hello CO,

Please I need a favour from you. Thanks for helping on this. We have case specific questions that cannot be answered on telephone by the embassy on our immigrant case, we have sent 3 emails to LagosIV@state.gov with no single response.

Please we need your favour to help us inform the team monitoring that email handle to please check and respond to our questions. I know they are very busy but we have been waiting for response for more than 2 weeks now

Thanks for your anticipated support.

Hello CO,

After an IV interview and the CO requests for more documents to be dropped at DHL office. Please help with the following information.

1. How do we know when the document is received at the embassy after being dropped off at DHL

2. How long does it take before the document is reviewed at the embassy after reception

Thanks

Those immigration officers will surely double the price to 150k. If you claim you want to pay official price, they will purposefully thrash your file.

Why are Nigerians like this. Tomorrow we will be praying that Nigeria should develop like America.

Travel / Re: Samuel Getachew Complains Of Extortion By Immigration Officers At MMIA, Lagos by ollyruffy: 8:51pm On Oct 26, 2018
We don't need evidence in this case. Any ordinary citizen of nigeria that has passed through that airport can testify to the way those immigration officers extort every traveler.

At every check point you meet them, they ask for bribe and look for means of extorting you.

It is national disgrace what those officials practice at that airport.

If they extort their fellow Nigerians. How much more a foreigner.
