A few days after a female pastor in the Redeem Christian Church of God, Mrs. Eunice Olawale, was brutally killed by suspected Muslim extremists, about 200 Muslim youths on Friday attacked St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, which is very close to Zuma Rock in Niger State, for worshipping on Friday. According to eyewitnesses, some Catholics had gone to the church to pray and were attacked by the Muslims who claimed that Friday is their day of prayer and that the Church only has right to worship on Sundays. https://africanspotlight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/13710576_1246770145357926_3438571724792664964_o-768x432.jpg https://africanspotlight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Muslim-youth-destroy-Catholic-church-near-Abuja-for-worshipping-on-Friday.jpg https://africanspotlight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Muslim-youth-destroy-Catholic-church-near-Abuja-for-worshipping-on-Friday1.jpg https://africanspotlight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Muslim-youth-destroy-Catholic-church-near-Abuja-for-worshipping-on-Friday-1.jpg Information gleamed from eyewitnesses said that the invaders destroyed Church properties, including doors and windows. Although some soldiers managed to get there later, however, a lot of damage been done to the building, while the Christians ran away in different directions to avoid being killed. It should be recalled that Alhaji Kabiru Sokoto had on Christmas day four years ago, detonated bomb that killed several Catholics and passersby at St Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, close to St. Philips that was destroyed. Rev Fr. Luka Sylvester Gopep, the Vicar-General of the Diocese confirmed the incident. According to him: “Sometime around 2pm, some Muslim youths in their hundreds left their Mosque after their Friday Jumat prayer and rushed to the Church premises, climbed the wall and destroyed everything in the Church: the windows, the alter, musical instruments, the chapel. The security man in the church premises was beaten to a pulp. Some women who were holding a prayer meeting were chased away. The seminarian who is resident in the premises was also beaten up and chased away,” he stated. Just last week, Mrs Eunice Elisha Olawale , a mobile preacher of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was killed by some fanatical Muslims in Kubwa, FCT. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/07/photos-200-muslim-youth-destroy.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Governor Ayo Fayose's claim that his election was sponsored by Zenith bank is a "blatant" lie, according to former secretary of the People Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Mr. Tope Aluko. Speaking on ADABA 88.9 FM, Aluko said Zenith bank approached Mr. Fayose after he won the election. Aluko said Fayose did not have up to N10 million in his personal account before contesting the governorship election in 2014. He said his primary election was sponsored by Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Fayose was given N200 million by Zenith bank after he had won the governorship election, he said. He added that Fayose got cash from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) after he won the primary, and that oil contractors were deployed to fund the election campaign. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/07/nnpc-sponsored-fayoses-election-not.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration would rebuild Nigeria, including the Niger Delta region, and therefore solicits patience and understanding from the citizenry. Receiving a delegation of Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group, led by His Royal Highness, King Alfred Diette-Spiff, the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, Bayelsa State, at State House, Abuja, Thursday, President Buhari pledged that under his watch Nigeria will witness judicious utilization of resources. "We intend to rebuild this country; so that our children and grand-children will have a good place they can call their own. A lot of damage has been done, so I want you to tell the people to be patient. "When you get together with other leaders, please pacify the people. We will utilize the resources of Nigeria with integrity and rebuild the country." The President said the gazette on the Niger Delta amnesty programme by the Umaru Yar'Adua administration is being studied with a view to determining what had been fulfilled, promising that whatever is left would equally be addressed. "I want to get as much intelligence as possible on the situation in the Niger Delta. I have encouraged law enforcement agencies to contact leaders like you in order to have enough information to deal with the issues once and for all, “the President said. He sympathized with investors who borrowed lots of money to invest in the Niger Delta region and have not recouped their investments due to insecurity. He used the occasion of his audience with the Group to reiterate his appeal to those who perpetrate violence to embrace peace and give government a chance. The leader of the Group, King Alfred Diette-Spiff, said the group was made of peace builders, dedicated to peace and stability in the region.
