If you are the type that cared for your battery health before now (i.e. not letting your inverter battery to due to even beep before turning it off) , then you will need 24V 100Ah Battery has replacement.

But if you always allow your Battery to shut down when using your inverter better go for 24V 200Ah

Also you will need to change your inverter to one you can edit the parameters, preferably an Hybrid inverter.

Good evening great engineers. I would like to replace my weak luminous batteries with a Lithium battery. I currently have 1.5kva inverter without solar and two 200ah batteries .

What capacity of lithium battery should I go for? Thanks for your assistance

This is always factored and dependent on weather conditions, but lowest I have seen is 105W from a 2,280Wp

BTW I replied your Mail, i don't know if you noticed that.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 9:12am On Jul 26, 2023
You know 80% of Inverter user today do not put off their inverters and the scenarios described earlier are for cases of Inverter being turned off.

Also, the idle current is something that i will dispute but then i have inverter within reach to test with.

If you are an installer, nothing beats being able to diagnose and troubleshoot a problem remotely.

Am in search of a good 2.5/3/3.5kva 24v inverter.

I wanted to go with the growatt system , am ok the datasheets i saw but the previous statements here abt the mppt side switch on and off just discouraged me.

I would appreciate your response

This hard to determine, you need to be creative with your load and use that to determine what your energy usage is, then the next step is possible.

you can play around with the calculator on my bio.

I will be installing tie grid solar power systems in new 3 bedroom buid... No air condition, no heater, no microwave... Just the regular appliance with 0.5 hp whale submersible pump.
Am currently on 12v system with tubular battery but will ignoring all that with new total systems...
I will love recommendations on what capacity of panels(jinko) , battery(lithium battery) and inverter (brand recommendations required) to work with.

Good day everyone,

I want to share with you the updated version of our offgrid energy calculator

"It is a DIY Off-grid Energy calculator which you can use to determine your energy requirements, solar panel size, Inverter size and Battery size too".

This is the Version 2.0, which is built based on feedback from previous release and it is improved with more additional appliances.

I will like to recommend it to those just starting there Solar journey and pro users alike to use it.

Attached in my bio is the link to the website where you can make use of the web application and also a short video showing how to use it in follow up thread.

Antibot keeps banning me cry with the links attached.

I will strictly advice that you follow the manufacturers guideline to prevent a issue down the line, if this is your personal setup by all means experiment.

A recent setup of 3 Growatts ES series inverters, the HUB was planned but not used because we used a comm/BMS cable from only one from the inverters and all the battery info was sent to all inverters.

All behave just fine with no problem.

jonescosmos:
Hello house, i need this Growatt CAN/RS486 Hub. The Growatt RS485 Hub with 8 ports is a device used to connect 1 battery bank and up to 7 Growatt inverters or charge controllers.
I don't if it's going to work with Deye, but I am willing to try it out.
This is because I discovered that only the Master inverter in a Deye Parallel Setup is able to read Battery Information (those who have Deye Inverters in Parallel should confirm this).
And this in turns reduces the solar energy harnessing power of the Slave inverters. So the solution to this is to make a splitted kind of Parallel communication where both or more inverters get their battery information individually.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 7:19am On Jul 17, 2023
It works this way

If your total Imp is =/< 32A the breaker will not trip, if you have did your calculations and see that you go over 32A from Imp then you can shell out the extra funds to buy a new breaker.

If not, continue to use it, since breaker are only meant to prevent overload of a circuit and not limit the current passing through them.

osayuwamwen:
Pls guys does using a 32amp DC breaker from solar panel to controller and from controller to battery limit the amps to not more than 32amps? even wen d controller support 60amps changing and the panel can generate more current?

I believe that zeestone sells something of that nature, it is a DIN rail mounted device that allows you to set the max. wattage to be drawn also current to be drawn. Maybe sintolord might be of help here

I'm planning to give my cousin 100w power max. I need to install something like current limiter that will stop them from consuming above the given watts.
Please, what device will handle this work perfectly for me?
Something that will trip off at my end if they attempt to plug appliances above 100w.
His house is opposite mine and they have been disturbing us with phone charging too much.
100w would be enough for phone charging and perhaps 3w bulbs 3-4pcs for night and 1 energy efficient fan.

Quite a keen sight to spot these inconsistency, i have not experience these before, but then it is worth a trial to test these conditions out in the real world and i will cirle back with a feedback.
viperVIP:
DON'T BUY GROWATT SPF 5000 ES WITHOUT READING THIS. sad

PS:: I am writing this not to defame the brand, but to read from others on their experience or maybe they just never find out.

I discovered growatt inverter on youtube channel of David Poz and further research on it led me to nairaland where I read from Olopan and his good experience on them. So I fell in love with the ES model and bought my first 2 inverters (SPF 5000ES) to be installed for a client as an upgrade from his previous nightmare YOHAKO, the 2 inverters were installed in parallel, after 7 months, client didn't find a use for 10kw inverter, so one was traded for more solar panels.

NOW, here was my observation.

When the decommissioned inverter was installed at another client's premises, the inverter will not come on with PV alone as designed, so I thought maybe it's from my installation, but i knew 100% that my installation is OK with no issues. For the inverter to work, it must be connected to battery, switched to ON position, then you will see it charging via PV. But if it's connected to battery and in OFF position, the PV will not charge your battery until you put it on. You may now put it back to OFF position when the charging starts, but if you switch off the pv breaker at this point and switch it on again, it won't charge until the inverter is back to the ON position.

The client didn't know this and thank GOD he has enough battery bank to take him 24hours, so he might never witness this issue.

While feeling unsatisfied and thinking a damage has happened to the inverter, I went back to the previous client that traded it out, on a maintenance note, I tried the system with same sequence, it wouldn't charge unless I follow the sequence listed up here. so they both suffer the same challenge. While google searching and thinking of a way forward, I proceed to buying 6 units of the Growatt model again, for 5kw installations in 3 premises and 15kw parallel installation in my personal site under construction as at that moment.

I will write further on how those ones went tonight.

You can mix the lithium batteries. The BMS makes each battery behave like individual cells and allow them to go at the pace appropriate for them.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 11:23pm On Jul 02, 2023
With your 10KVA Growatt inverter there is almost zero chance of upgrade as it may have appear you may have exceeded your configuration due to your much PV (27 Pcs).

It is best you get an external charge controller or change all your panels to bigger wattage and a simple design this time around in two set wrt the two MPPTs

Good day,
i need advice.
I have the following setup:

8.1kw Solar Panels (300w x 27)
10kva Growatts inverter
10kwh batteries x 2 (2 nr - felicity lithium batteries)

I want add more solar panels/increase the my PV array to 12.6kw
and increase my batteries size from 20kwh to 30kwh by adding another 10kwh felicity batteries.

The old setup is about 18 months old, i'm just wondering if it is wise to mix old and new lithium batteries after 18months of use.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 10:20am On Jun 14, 2023
If you have not taken the plunge yet

Going for Addo/Eastman setup will do you a big advantage of 1 year warranty on inverter/2 year on battery.

You will need 2 battery for the inverter.

Under standard operation PV should generate ~21.6KWh give a take if the loads are hungry or batteries heavily depleted.

Sizing of PV has always been what the energy storage capacity is + energy consumed by loads = estimated PV generation.

Trippledots:

What's the anticipated watt-hour this System is supposed to supply daily? I've always been intrigued to know how installers size PV for installations, given it's unstableness.

Sorry to hear about your loss and the aftermath expenses.

There are two ways to which power comes in through you inverter

1. Solar
2. Nepa/grid

Your protection for surge needs to come into play at these two areas.

Example here is if you're using a 500Vdc charge controller
You need something close enough to this
E.g. a 500Vdc/550 Vdc clamping protector
Or a 275Vac protector for NEPA

If going for premium SPD e.g. Midnite best to have over 200k for both
If average ones like explained above e.g. from china

contact these places/people to get your SPD

Techland, solar shop, saipro from this forum or me( I will only source for you)

Hello Good People,

My 5kva/48v inverter suffered lightning damage a few weeks ago. I’ve spent some reasonable amount of money in the course of the repair, and I wouldn’t want to have a similar experience again.

Please I need a help on how best I can protect the inverter from lightning damage. I would appreciate any device (with price) that can help me achieve this protection.

Thank you all in anticipation to your kind response.

This 23.4V is based on while loaded right?

Also I believe your electrolyte mixture is the reason for your quick sag.

But since it delivers, then fine.

But if not satisfied, then take them to the company to demand for replacement
joseph4sales:
Thanks a lot, So for the voltage drop, should i just consider it normal, owing to the fact that it doesn't beep low battery?

The lowest i have seen it go is 23.4V after 26hrs usage

As we speak, its on 24.1V as attached
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 3:27pm On May 20, 2023
The voltage drop is normal for tubular but yours seems kinda peculiar

There could be a chance that the water level is too high or the wrong electrolyte is used.
joseph4sales:
Good afternoon house

I need advice on this issue please

I recently got a pure sine wave inverter 2.5KVA with 2 220ah Tubular Batteries

When fully charged it displays on the inverter 27.7v, but immediately i start using it, it drops to 25.4v and within 30mins, it drops to 24.3v then to 24.1v within an hour. Now, it lasts for 24hours on same load which is, 2,55w standing fans, 90w tv and lightnings 30w

My installer is saying there's nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't beep low battery, also i noticed that water drips out from one of the batteries

I want to know why the voltage drops so low on less than 300watts

The need to be well educated and informed when it comes to investing or own solar can not be emphasized enough.

To know the type and potency of your equipment via taking time to research saves you a lot of stress in many ways.

We were at a site recently to add extra panels due to business expansion and the panels installed by an installer was just not it.

To give to your client that kind of panels without their knowledge will be the biggest scam ever, except it was chosen by they themselves.

Picture 1-4 showing the levels of colouration to aging and also to mismatched panels.

Always watch.
