I wonder first of all why threads like this always make the front page. Are they at the discretion of the "succesful founder" of nairaland?

Anyway, for anybody to judge Churches or pastors, then you need to realy differentiate between churches that are being run as a business venture , or those that are divine mandates being set up by God. To the average orthodox christian, pentecostalism and anytg it represents is bad. However, have you tried to find out if some things you see in some of these churches are the same elsewhere? I personally know for instance that at least two of the men of God leading the two largest pentecostal churches in Nigeria do not take salaries. This is a STATEMENT OF TRUTH AND FACT. As such, where does the issue of "eating" tithes and offerings come in? What is wrong in driving good cars when te cars are got as gifts? Mind you, some of these men of God get car gifts of as much as 20 or more brand new cars in a month, yet they give out almost everything out, either to those in need or to the church. I have it on first hand informatin of the number of scholarships that some of our men of God give to indigent pupils. But, it is only an empty barrel that will come out and start boasting about what he is doing.

So, please let us try and watch what we say when we attack other people's belief because you cant know about an issue unless you really take time to study and understand it. If pastors are all thieves, why do u see learned and eminent persons going to those churches? Go to any parish of RCCG in v/i or ikoyi and you will be shocked at the calibre of people in such gatherings. Or go to the redemption camp forthe Holy Ghost serice and you will be amazed at the kind of people that go thru harrowing traffic just to get to the camp. Are these people fools?

They should start by sending their children to school and make knowledge available. I watched tv yesterday and i saw some youths protesting in the north, cant remember the state now. They were refusing the polio vaccination on d grounds that it will make them to be infertile later in life. Can you believe such?
So, Aliyu and the rest should dvelop their states and educate their people first before they start talking about not needing the oil money. Cos without oil money, they will all go hungry.

How can yu be talking rubbish about a sch that u hv never been to, u dont knw who the vc is, you dnt knw about the staff, nor anytg whatsoever.
I have been to Covenant university on severaL occasions and the kind of structures that they have in place is second to none in this country.Likewise, they boast of very good staff, both academic and non academic. Besides, they organise lectures and symposium regularly, the recent one had Jim Ovia as the guest lecturer. So, I wonder where the pple saying nonsense get their data and info from. As per the issue of religion and discipline in the sch, am sure everybody knows that Winners Chapel, the organisatin that owns the sch is a Christian religious organisation that preaches the bible. So, anybodythat goes to such sch shd ordinarily know wht he or she is going for. If you hae a problem with carrying bibles or being religious, then we still hv unilag and thers where u can dress almost naked. Likewise, we have islamic schools all over the place.
I am not a member of winners chapel, neither did i go to covenant uni, i left a state uni in 1998 and am proud of the sch, despite of the shortcomings then, and now
So, my advice, if you dnt knw about something, then u keep quiet rather than make a fool of ursf.

Its okay since they re changing their name to comply with their parent company. Besides, the new colours re cool and sweet.

It depends on your choice.If you drive through rough and unven terrain or if your routes entail flood and pot holes infested roads, then i suggest you go for the trooper. It is cool and fuel efficient as well. However as per the economics, a camry is cheaper to maintain and its parts cheaper than the trooper. Personally i will go for the trooper cos i prefer suvs, secondly, the camry is as common as pure water.

For all those saying u dont need a permit for your tinted glass, it is a lie.You need one. It is actually supposed to be free, but you have to pay btw 2ok and 35k to get it. It is ususally issued from the office of the DIG operations in Abuja. I got one for my car in February, i use an SUV that has factory tinted glass. I happen to have a very reliable police friend who is like a brother that helped me to get it. It was despatched through Ifesinachi from Abuja.
And no police man , Lagos and beyond has ever queried it's authenticity.

Dont let anybody deceive you that you dont need.
The policemen will always embarass you about it.

If you, and many others reading this thread are Christians and conversant with the bible, then you will know what the Lord Jesus Christ says John chapter 14 verse 12. He says we will do even much more than the works that He did then.
I can stake my life to tell you that some of the miracles that we have in some of the "true bible believing churches" are real. I am a recipient of some. The bible tells us in Hebrews 13 verse 8 that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday,today and tomorrow. So, it is your duty to identify a "true bible believing church". Too bad if u didnt study your bible enough and you fell to the gullible pastors out there.

It is only when you fail to study your bible that a pastor will tell u fables and you believe. I am talking of real bible events here, not fables. Check Exodus ch 7 verse 12. It is simply lack of knowledge that is disturbing most people. We are so engrossed with technological innovatins and advancement in knowledge that we fail to simply understand certain things.Hosea chapter 4 verse 6 says it is the lackof knowledge that destroys people.

At Seun, I strongly disagree with your assertions that idotic people believe that humans can turn to animals. Infact, i agree with you, quite a lot of people assume readers are daft or something. I hate seeing terms like "winter or chilling a/c", air bags, full options etc. Which car doesnt have air bag again, except the old ones? is a/c not supposed to be chlling?
And then they will attach outrageous prices to the cars. Some guy came some days ago to sell a maxima 95/96 model for 1.4 m, and i was wondering, is he crazy? @bilymuse- what did Abraham Adesanya of blessed memory do for the yoruba race? As far as I am concerned, they were only using the name of Awolowo to gain popularity and sympathy. They couldnt win elections or influence the yoruba people.
It is better we have a more dynamic and urbane person as a yoruba leader, rather than old men who only know how to converge in Ijebu Igbo and discuss issues that wont make any impact.

As for Pedro, I only see him as a frustrated politician. If he knew Tinub stole money, why didnt he resign, at least he was the deputy governor then. Was it not when he didnt get the governorship ticket that he jumped ship?

For our American based guys, am not disputing the fact that Obama is good or that he is not well qualified for the post. My line of argument is that most of the people supporting him here in Nigeria where I live are just supporting him blindly simplybecause he is an African American, rather than the fact that they know what he can do or not. Nowadays, you see Obama 2008 stickers on cars in Lagos,it has now become a sort of status symbol. Yet, some of these same people dnt even know who the deputy governor of Lagos is, neither do the y know the name of the president of Benin republic just beside us here.
