Education / Re: "Converting HND To Degree Is Absurd" By Punch Editorial Board by OLULAW: 8:39pm On Oct 26, 2023
babakb:

Conversion and Top Up means the same thing.

I'm currently running a conversion program and it's 4 semesters so there's no argument here.

It's like some people are not Happy that HND graduates now have a Pathway to obtain a Bachelor's Degree and enjoy the benefits that comes with it.

We are saying the same thing. But simply swapping HND with BA/BSc as if they're pounds and dollars is what I said isn't ideal. What you're doing matches my description. It could be called top up or conversion degree. That's not an issue for me and shouldn't be for anyone. Sadly, the editorial didnt provide enough background for anyone not familiar with the saga.

CJStarz:
NUC created the unwarranted disparity between Bsc and HND holders, hence the emergence of the Top up programs. No one wants to be treated as inferior or second class. They should allow HND holders breathe.

There is no where in the world where parity exists between HND and BA/BSc. They're two different programmes with different learning outcomes. If you cannot be admitted to a university and you went to Poly to gain ND/HND, to gain a unuverdity degree in the same subject, you'll have to undertake prescribed number of units before being awarded the degree. This is what overseas universities call top up. But you simply cannot convert HND to BA/BSc, it's not a currency.

Politics / Re: Their #AllEyesOnJudiciary Crusade Failed Woefully - Reno Omokri by OLULAW: 8:58pm On Oct 24, 2023
Certainly, this man is under curse. One could have asked that he goes for mental health check. Nigeria is a social milieu where the abnormal has become normalised, where forgery and fakery to get to the highest office in the land has become normalised and the nonsensical judicial system normalising it. And, before you brainless chavs call me Obidient. I'm not in support of any of the candidates who contested the last election. I'm in favour of the JJ Rawling treatment of Nigeria's political class as a channel for sanitizing the Nigerian polity.

He lost everything. Now he's a dead man walking. Unfortunately, life means life in the Nigerian useless legal system.

Anyone found guilty of embezzling public funds should be given the same treatment.

The reality, which I see everyday, is that quite often, if and when those kids land in Europe or North America, they have to relearn the English language. At that time, they've already lost their mother tongues. Double jeopardy, really.

Reno Omokri was right when he said Tinubu was the best governor to ever come out of Nigeria. I laugh when people compare that Agulu local champion that invested Anambra's money on hero beer factory grin

As a result of Tinubu's ingenuity, Lagos recorded annual IGR of N14.6 billion in 1999, representing a monthly average of N1.2 billion. When Tinubu left office in 2007, the figure rose to N83.02 billion, a monthly average of N6.9 billion. Between 1999 and 2007, the IGR growth rate of Lagos stood at 468.63 percent, showing a considerable increase.

Peter Obi on the contrary grew Anambra State IGR from N7 billion to N8 billion, a measly N1 billion after spending eight years (his tenure).

I hear you. The greatest issues with Th1efnumbu is twofold. First, he's a faceless human being with no verifiable place of birth, paternity, educational history and educational qualifications. Essentially, he's a ghost. Second, how much of these grnerated funds end up in Th1efnumbu's purse?

The girl is a slut and cheerful giver who freely gives becsuse she freely received. Bleep her as much as you want with protection and let her go when it's time to move on. If you let her fell pregnant for you or you ended up marrying her, it will be the biggest mistake of your life. Remember, leopards never change their spots. If, however, you're not a playboy, just end the relationship. Shalom.

Palliatives and poverty alleviation schemes...new channels for embezzling public funds under Thievesnumbu. Nigeria's soul is, sadly, forever lost. Once the envy of the world, Nigeria now has at the helms of affairs an Escobar, drug lord, a qualification and identity fraud, someone whosevreal identity and qualifications are shrouded in mystery. Until this fraud is kicked out of government and the government house, it will not be well with Nigeria.

Islam has been in Osun state since 15th century so what do you mean by it's not native to Osun.

Lack of proper education implies that for people like you, issues must be scaffolded before you get the gist.

African traditional religions are as old as the Yoruba people. The Yorubas have been living in present day Osun State, worshipping pantheon of gods and goddesses prior to the advent of Islam in the 15th century. If those people acted like the senseless ragheads in Ilorin, then Islam wouldn't have taken roots in the now Osun state. It is by adopting the principle of live and let live that Islam took roots and people freely choose what religion to practice. The senseless Ilorin muslims aren't respecting the right of other people to religious freedom.

After all these your grammar, isese will still not hold. So let us use this period to settle all the misunderstanding. Going to court will draw more blood and bad belleism the more. That is my stand.

Courts are supposed to settle matters rationally. Drawing more blood is always the work these Muslim terrorists. Why aren't Christians stopping Isese adherents? You convert people by persuasion and love not through hate and terror. Imale, imo lile. Imale fe alaafia.

Why will Osun state ban Muslims from their land

Because Islam is not native to Osun state. If indigenous Osun people who were animists acted like these Ilorin terrorist Muslims, there will be no Muslims in Osun state today.

This lawyer is not Yoruba and should keep off. We know how to settle our differences amicably.

Your ignorance knows no bound. Stop displaying your stupidity to the whole world. Isese is not exclusively a Yoruba festival. Omirhobo is an Edo name. The Edos or Binis worship Olokun, and other Yoruba deities, celebrating Isese. The current Yeye is an Edo woman. Right? Islam isn't native to Ilorin. It came through Uthman Dan Fodio satanic jihad. If the earliest Muslims were treated the way Muslims are behaving today, there won't be Muslims in Ilorin. Civilised people respect human right to freedom of religion, thought and conscience. What happened in Ilorin is a violation of this right, hence the court action.

Family / Re: How Some Men Package For Marriage And Deceive Women by OLULAW: 8:32pm On Aug 13, 2023
Born2Freak:
As I am writing this, my friend's sister is considering divorce just after 5 months of marriage. She recently learnt that her husband is a serial debtor- a specialist in borrow-posing (borrowing things and acting as if you own them).

The husband in question is from a rich family but he spends money recklessly and borrows recklessly. His family was covering up for him and she thought that the man is responsible.

The point is that the woman (my friend's sister) was fooled by her husband's rich family and big house in Lekki. The family has a house in Lekki while the man rents in Ibeju Lekki.

But can we only blame the man? If my friend's sister was wise enough to do investigation into the man she was marrying, she would not have married him. She saw a rich family and didnt ask questions. The man does not really have a job. He just helps to manage the family's properties. The man also parties like a wild animal. But because he spends on her, she believed that he was a "big boy"

Now, the reality has set- loan apps and police have come looking for the husband at their apartment. The wife is getting different threatening phone calls and the husband quickly ran to the village to chill.

Please, for any woman that is going to get married, please do your proper investigation.
-Is your husband to be financially responsible (does he have a steady job or business?)
-Does your husband to be flirt with other girls or have cheating spirit?
-Is he a wife beater?
-Is he respected in his own family?

Open your eyes. Ask questions and be careful. Marriage is not a joke. My friend's sister is depressed today because she was carried away by greed and didnt look into her husband.

Most women don't marry for love but financial security.
