Some 2000 years ago, earliest Christians waited for Jesus' coming. Some left their daily preoccupations and gathered at Pepuza (a small town in present day Turkey and the center of Montanist heretical movement, which believed the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21) was soon to descend on the Earth). There, they awaited Jesus' return. It never happened. In the 1970s and 80s, American tele-evangelists wrote all manners of books insinuating that Jesus' return was eminent, citing events that would herald Jesus' second coming - some of which are listed here in this thread. It didn't happened. Yes, "no one knows the time. Not even the angels." For me, that's a cop out. This is 2023, some idiots are still perpetuating the same lies. Jesus is long dead and the dead don't make come backs. In 4023 (i.e. in 2000 years to come), some idiots would still be talking about the Parousia. Claims about the afterlife, like any metaphysical claims, are connotative and non-cognitive, and as such unverifiable and unfalsifiable. 1 Like |

Experience is the best teacher.
