KayLayChi:Yes. Infact port health is better. Even with the one from your doctor, you'll still be sent to get from port health |
Hi Coolcathy, Check your mail. I have just sent it. I just read your post here. I tried replying your pm earlier to no avail quote author=coolcathy post=49464850] Please can you share a copy of the change of intent email you sent to the embassy, Dont know the format to use for it. My email addy is coolamyh@yahoo.com Thanks alot for your kind response[/quote] |
herzern:This is a private organization, an international one at that. Not a Nigerian govt office. So you can be sure the recruitment process is based on merit and only the best gets hired. So apply now n best of luck in ur application |
Lajoie33:Lajoie33, it is well with your son and your entire family IJn. My prayers are with you always. I read ur case to my sister that I'm staying with, she and her husband are both doctors here in the US (with years of practice in Nigeria before they moved to the states. They advised that your doctors may also want to look out for a condition known as Burkitt Lymphoma. Common among African children. It may take them time to diagnose it here as its not common in the US. Said its a very common condition amongst children in Nigeria and its not expensive to treat. Not terminal either if diagnosed and treated promptly. You can read more about it on Google |
TripleKMama:It was good. Travelled with my older kids tho. They kept me busy kind of, so time ran so fast. Layover was 5hrs. |
I finally got a quote of $86.40 for my baby's ticket with Lufthansa airlines as against the initial crazy quote of $356 I got earlier even after calling them on 3 different occasions and speaking with their supervisor, trying to get an explanation for the high quote. All I did was to monitor their website for a drop in fares on my travel date. Their one way ticket to Naija dropped from $3690 to $900 for my date, I quickly called them to have mine baby added. For mamas that are flying Lufthansa or intending to, you can monitor fares yourself before adding your infant ticket. Same is applicable to other European and American airliners I think. @Blaize777,thanks for encouraging me not to pay the initial fare. I'm glad I was able to save almost 300 dollars. That's quite a lot in this economy. |
blaize777:Thanks so much @blaize777. Did your friend get the cheaper rate on her travel date or she went to the airport to book ahead? |
@ Blaize777, thanks a lot for the tip. I called Lufthansa again, I was given the same quote, so I demanded to speak with their supervisor who also maintained the same quote even when I insisted that it should be 10% of my fare. She told me what they calculate is 10% of one way for my travel date, as it is the cheapest for my date is about $3690 for one way. Pls house, has anyone tried booking return ticket for an infant while the accompanying adult has a one way ticket? |
Hello house, here's my second testimony of this missionary journey. Celebrate with me as my LO arrived on Friday the 19th of August at 39 weeks 4days. Delivery was very short and smooth (got to the hospital at 10:30am, I was already 7/8cm dilated) Baby came at 12pm. LO was given vitamin k shot, erythromycin ointment for the eyes and hep B vaccine Baby's one week appointment was kept also. We have both been doing great. Pls house, I have a little question, people that have flown Lufthansa on this missionary journey, pls how did you add infant ticket? Was it over the phone or at the airport on the day of travel? Also, how much was baby's one leg ticket added? I have called their customers service and I got a quote of $356. I thought its meant to be 10% of my own fare. Do you think I can get a cheaper quote at the airport on the day of travel? Kindly help a sister. Though our trip back to Naija is still in October. Thank you |
Good day my wonderful e-family. I ought to have done this at least 3 weeks ago. But for one reason or the other I couldn't write my POE experience on time. But like the common saying goes "better late than never" I got my visa in December, 2014 for vacation, that's for myself and kids. Hubby already got visa twice then. However, we were not able to embark on the trip due to sudden changes in hubby's work schedule. Fast forward to 2015 December, I discovered I was pregnant. So we started making plans for our vacation and to have the baby in the US. (Bro-in-law's wedding was in July too in New York). To cut the story short, we flew Lufthansa from Abuja to JFK on the 10th and arrived on the 11th of July. I was exactly 34 weeks. I had my fit to fly letter, but I wasn't asked for it at any point of the journey. I also sent the change of intent notification to the embassy like 3 days before my travel date and I got the usual response. The flight was good and so on time. The plane for the Abj-Frankfurt leg was empty, I had about three seats to myself at the back, so I was able to lie down and sleep all thru the journey. The Frankfurt-Newyork leg was filled to d brim. Even though it was a bigger plane. In flight entertainment was very good. The kids had something to keep them busy at every point in time. We got to JFK around 1:30 pm. The airport was like a crusade ground. Too many planes came in at the same time. We got called by the CPB after queuing for about 2:30 mins, our time with him was short and uneventful. It went thus: CPB: Hello, can I have your passports? DH: Good day officer (handed him the passports) CPB: why are you in the US DH: For vacation Me: And childbirth too (I quickly chipped in) CPB was busy with his computer and the passports so I thought he probably did hear what I said. So I had to ask him again if he heard me say childbirth, he then nodded and answered yes. The next thing was he was already taking DH's finger prints and then mine. Before we knew it, I saw that he was stamping the passports. There's this self automated machine at JFK where you input your details before getting called by CBP. There we declared that we had food and that we wanted to declare our currency, as we were carrying about 26k dollars ( our own personal money was about 10k only, the rest was for some one else? The CPB handed our passports back to us and directed us to where we would get the currency declaration form. While waiting at baggage claims, a random female officer walked up to me and asked why we were in the US and how long we were staying. I told her childbirth and vacation, she asked how far along I was, I told her. In my mind I thought maybe she would be the one to send me to secondary inspection, but I was wrong. She only wished us the best and told us to enjoy our stay. After getting our luggages and filling the form, the next thing I saw was exit. Even though I declared that I had food(fish, ogbono, egusi, knorr cubes, crayfish, garri, plantain flour and all), I wasnt sent for secondary inspection, nothing was checked, not even a single document was asked for. JFK is the best POE. We stayed for the wedding which was on the 23rd of July. The hospital I'm using is in Flint, Michigan. So I arrived here on Monday 1st of August. My first appointment was on Wednesday 3rd. It was awesome. So this is the first part of the testimony. I'm earnestly awaiting the second part (d arrival of my LO in less that 3 weeks). Sorry for the long post and once again sorry for posting late. |
I thought he already denounced his membership of PDP, even going as far as tearing his membership card publicly. Yeyenatu!!! |
I hope our govt put precautionary measures in place and not wait until it happens. In Nigeria, we're never prepared for eventualities. |

A preliminary report on the earth tremor that had been occurring in Saki town, Saki West Local Government, in Oyo State is an impending signal to a damaging earthquake in South West region of the country in the next four years, precisely before 2020. This was disclosed in a report by Dr Adepelumi Adekunle Abraham of the Department of Geology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, in a report entitled “PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF EARTH TREMOR OCCURRENCE IN SHAKI AREA, SHAKI WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT, OYO STATE,” which was made available to Sunday Tribune. Adepelumi had carried out a research after a similar tremor occurred in Abeokuta, Ogun State, September 11, 2009, suggesting that the risk of the quake in South West region was 2.8 per cent, but stated that the risk had risen to 91.1 per cent. In recent months, residents of Saki, especially Medinat, Veterinary, Salam salam, Abimbola layout and Ogbooro areas, had been living in palpable fear over the recurring sound of a earth tremor, which had been brought to the attention of the state and federal governments. Recently, a state government delegation led by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Chief Teju Ishola who visited the scene, appealed to the residents to remain calm, adding that government both at the state and federal level would proffer solution to the problem. Before then, member representing Saki-West/Saki-East and Atisbo local governments at the House of Representatives, Honourable Olajide Olatubosun, had also raised the issue at the floor of the House under matter of urgency. Olatubosun in a letter dated June 9, 2016, which was addressed to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara and entitled: “Matter of urgent public importance (standing Order VIII rule 46) urgent call on the Federal Government to investigate the persistence earth tremor currently being experienced in Saki, the headquarters of Saki-West local government area of Oyo State,” called the attention of the House and Federal Government to the “persistent vibrations/tremor in Saki.” According to him “anytime the earth vibration/tremor occurs, the building and other physical structures in the affected areas would shake violently and this, he said was responsible for a large army of internally displaced persons (IDP), as they had to vacate their homes, farmlands and their places of business.” However, Dr Adepelumi who led a team of Geologists and Seismologists from the Federal Government through the Center for Geodesy and Geodynamics and Geodesy (CGG), Toro, Bauchi State to assess the situation as reported by the people of the community confirmed their fear, as well as the danger to the South Western part of the country. Adepelumi stated that “After the earth tremor of 2009 in South western Nigeria, was felt in several towns and villages in Oyo, Osun and Ogun States, a detailed short-term propabilistic earthquake prediction was carried out by our team, our findings indicated the probability of earthquake occurrence in the study area between the year 2009 and 2028 increased from 2.8% to 91.1%. The result also showed that the probability of three events occurring has the highest likelihood within the predicted years. Also, found that the Weibull probability density model predicts a damaging earthquake (M= 5) before year 2020. “Our findings showed that the earth tremor that was experienced in the Shaki area is a series of fore-shock, main-shock and after-shock of a small scale earth-tremor with local magnitude 2.5 on the Richter scale that originated along the Ifewara, Romanche and Charcot fault system in the Atlantic ocean that passed through Shaki town. These mega structure are supposedly the longest linear feature within the Precambrian basement complex of Nigeria, and extends northwards from Ijebu-Ode area in southwestern Nigeria through Okemesi area to Zungeru and beyond to Kalangai in northwestern Nigeria (They are deep-seated mega-lineaments) that transcends the south-western part of the country.” He then suggested that an earthquake monitoring device called seismometer be installed in Saki for proper monitoring in case of an earthquake. Concluding his report, Dr Adepelumi warned that “It is concluded that earthquake monitoring device called seismometer should be install in Shaki town for proper and effective monitoring of the likely occurrence of earthquake precursors, foreshocks, main-shocks and after-shocks that may likely occur in the area in the very nearest future. A preliminary assessment of the reported earth tremor in Shaki area gave a focal depth 5 km within the upper crust with a stress drop of about 0.115 bar and a 1.8 km radius rupture. Considering the areas where the tremor was felt, the rupture process propagated up to north-east to south-west direction. The majority of the fault plane solutions for the rupture process suggested a normal dip-slip mechanism with a local magnitude (ML) of 2.5. An analysis of the series of the event provided a normal fault mechanism with median solution of strike 180°, dip 45° and rake -90°.” Tribune. |
Nigeria has not only failed the Yoruba nation, but the hope and belief of Nigerians in this entity called Nigeria has been eroded. True Federalism now more than ever! |

Copied In a shameless show of banditry and treachery that looked more like a broad daylight gang-rape or armed robbery of a nation than lawmakers passing bills, the Bukola Saraki Mafia cabal at the Senate, presided by Ike Ekweremadu, hastily passed the Code of Conduct Bureau Act (CCBA) and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) amendment bills through their second readings in just three days! This is the fastest for a bill, in recent memory. Insiders at the Senate reported that 36 Toyota Landcruiser V8 engine Sport Utility Vehicles were allegedly purchased and distributed as bribes to the Mafia cabal, to facilitate the hurried amendment of these two bills, which directly affect Bukola Saraki's pending court cases for forgery, false declaration of assets, grandeur theft and money laudering. This is what happens to the laws of the land when a criminal gangster like Bukola Saraki fraudulently becomes the Senate President. The shambolic theatrics of the bills amendment was initiated by Senator Nwaoboshi. His motion was supported by Dino Melaye, who thought that the proposal was justified. The Senate Chairman of Ethics Committee, Sam Anyanwu, also supported the amendment. Other traitors who supported the bill during the debate include Senator Biodun Olujimi, who said "if you don't support your neighbour when his house is burning, it will extend to yours!" Senator Yahaya Abdullahi supported the bill, but added insult to injury by urging the Senate to be “mindful” of public perception, due to wrong timing of the bill! But his hopeless statement was rendered even more useless by Senator Abu Ibrahim, who supported the bill and unashamedly said that "the time is right!" The CCBA and ACJA amendment bills have therefore fraudulently passed their second reading today. They are now forwarded to the Senate Judiciary Committee for review, which will report back to Senate in two weeks time. Fellow compatriots, let us give the fraudulent Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over this show of shame, a dose of our mind. Let us call or text Ekweremadu on +2347034033888, +2348075757000, +2348065290996. If the traitors have balls to bastardise our constitution in broad day light, we must have the courage to react lawfully. This is a bad day for democracy in Nigeria. Finally, please note that 26th April is the new date for #OccupyNass to #ReclaimNigeria from the traitors. May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Amen. Please circulate generously. Together we can stop these thieves! Dr. Idris Ahmed. @CUPS_Nigeria. 14/4/2016. |
enlightenedmind:They're most probably in Borno state govt's lodge enjoying life to the fullest. |
opeaceo:One of the girls in the video was even trying so hard not laugh in front of the camera. The trauma of being with those animals alone for that long, talkless of the unimaginable things they would have done to them would have been well written all over their faces. |
opeaceo:And if you have been following the Chibok story, you would definitely be able to deduce that the stories don't add up and all recent updates concerning them are questionable. The most recent is the purported video of the girls which the military has even confirmed as fake and concocted. How do you explain that the girls who are supposedly in boko haram captivity are looking so robust, and well fed? There are just too many questions begging for answers concerning the story abeg. |
Wonders shall never end. Two years of abduction, some Chibok Girls' phone lines are still working and about 4 of the girls called their parents from their hide-out,according to information released by Chibok Community leader in Abuja on Wednesday on a day Ibrahim Shetima, governor of Borno promised the possible return of the missing school girls. When did these girls come out to complete their biometric registrations with their network providers since MTN,GLO,AIRTEL and others disconnected people who did not do that. My appeal is for Shetima and his APC gang to stop embarrassing Nigeria further with all these 'childish' games and pranks.. Since Jonathan is out,let them end this drama by opening the door of the 'Government House' where these girls are kept and allow them to go home. |
Few days ago, I wrote about the disclosure by Ibe Kachikwu, a technocrat given political appointment, and upbraiding from Tinubu, a typical politician so adept at double speak. Kachikwu had said we won't get fuel until May. Tinubu nearly said he was foolish to say so. Kachikwu swallowed the humble pie and gave April 7 as the 'new' date for availability. But we all knew Tinubu's anger towards Kachikwu had nothing to do with fuel. My issue now is that no one seems to be communicating with us over this fuel thing. First, someone, in a moment of inexplicable giddiness, said what we had under Jonathan was "artificial surplus". Now, we are having " real scarcity". No be so? Can someone let us have artificial surplus even for one week? There is even a greater surprise for me. Here is it: Before, Department of Petroleum Resources always shut down any filling station selling beyond the normal price. As I speak with you, the last time I bought fuel at N86 was FIVE weeks ago. The least I had bought since then is N140. Filling station owners don't even bother selling at any official price and no one is questioning them. Why? Government is helpless. Why are they helpless? The mistimed and ill-advised subsidy removal of January (done secretly though) is coming back to haunt us even when it has been reversed. What is the implication of all the social and economic upheavals we are facing? It shows how God has a way of humbling us mortals. Perhaps, He wanted to show some people that ultimate wisdom resides with Him and no one else. Meaning? It is easy to shout and criticise when in opposition. Very easy to promise heaven and earth. Telling the populace that electricity will be available within TWO months of your party getting to power. Promising that fuel will be readily available at N40 per litre. Telling us that within six months, you would create SIX MILLION jobs. Chibok Girls would be found. I can go on. As a citizen, I do not expect my president or minister of petroleum to be a magician. Running a disjointed and bastardised entity like Nigeria is no tea party. But when you make promises, even in our private lives, the burden of delivery will always be on you. Not on those reminding you of your promises as is the case now. My sympathy is with those educated folks who helped spread these promises. Giving authoritative statements over what they had NO control over. Just to market the candidate and party they supported. Oh...lest I forget. "16 years of rot cannot be cleared in 11 months". My question: were you aware of the rot when you helped spread these promises? If you were, then you can figure out who is being unreasonable here... -by Samuel Ajayi |

In the words of Adetomiwa (2016), development is a culture and not a product. We can’t buy development no matter how much money we have or borrow. Today, some section of the country are jubilating that freedom has come. They are happy that God, through the republic of China, is about to deliver them from the formidable hegemony of US. They are happy and they want everybody to be happy.https://www.thecable.ng/nigeriachina-fx-deal-aid-bondage |

by Tola Adeniyi The National Assembly is about to pass a Bill that is set to kill whatever is left of our so-called over-centralised federal System. The Bill if passed will be the greatest rape on our democracy and the biggest insult on our collective sensitivity as a people and as a country. “The Fulani National Grazing Reserve”, is presently before the National Assembly. The bill has successfully scaled through second reading in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. For it to become law it is to pass through the third reading. “The bill seeks to provide for the establishment of national grazing reserves and stock routes. It is sponsored by Senator Zainab Kure. “The Bill proposes to establish a National Grazing Reserve Commission (NGRC) for the country. The NGRC will be charged with the responsibility of using funds received from the Federal Government to forcefully acquire farmlands from Nigerians in all the 36 States of the country, develop same at government expense through the provision of bore holes, water reservoirs, etc; for the exclusive use of nomadic cattle rearers.” The issue here is very clear. Fulani Herdsmen are cattle farmers. They could as well keep their cattle in ranches. They could devise whatever means like their counterparts in Argentina, Australia and the rest of the civilized world to do their animal husbandry. The men and boys roaming the streets, roads and bushes driving cattle are not the owners of these animals. They are just employees, labourers, attendants or whatever name they are called. The owners of these cows like Generals Obasanjo, Nyako, Abdulsalami Abubakar and our president Buhari are big time farmers. They are businessmen. It is immoral to ask tax payers to finance the operations of these businesses. Cattle owners must provide capital through bank loans or whatever means to create their grazing lands in their localities. The cows are not owned by the Federal Government. Just as the Federal Government is not creating farm lands for cocoa and kolanut farmers in Sokoto or Katsina, or creating farm lands for Agatu yam farmers in Enugu or Maiduguri, or creating special areas for fish farming in Zungeru, it cannot for any reason ever consider creating special lands for herdsmen for grazing. Let the herdsmen run their business without encroaching on the lands of other people. Let the cattle owners buy into the Fodder technology and other modern methods of providing feeds for their animals without roaming the streets and plundering other people’s farms. To ever dream of this perverted Bill is to step on the toes of other Nigerians and step on sore foot, and by so doing create a dangerous precedent. Nobody should play ethnic game here. This is not an issue directed against any ethnic nationality in Nigeria. The simple matter is to let those who trade in cattle fund their business like all other businesses, including farming, in Nigeria. The Bill must not see the light of the day. The sponsors want to create serious problem in the polity and their design must be nipped in the bud. The Nigeria Bar Association, the Coalition of Civil Societies, and all those who care about the continued existence of this troubled country must rise up to strongly oppose and kill this obnoxious and self serving Bill. It beats my imagination that members of the National Assembly did not see the serious danger posed by this corrosive Bill. In a reaction to the threats posed by this obnoxious Bill, the National co-ordinator of the Oodua Peoples congress Otunba Gani Adams says, “Without any doubt, this is a very dangerous proposal for Nigeria. We all have seen how the Fulani herdsmen kill and maim members of the community where they graze their cattle without the backing of any law. I am sure that we can only imagine what their attitudes would be if the supposed grazing reserves are forcefully taken over by government and handed over to the herdsmen.” Nigeria has enough problems on her hand right now; we should not provoke new and potentially more dangerous ones. - Chief Tola Adeniyi |
