A former National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Anthony Sani has frowned at those labeling President Muhammadu Buhari a dictator over the way he is spearheading the affairs of the nation.

Sani said Buhari’s actions since May 29 were democratic and not dictatorial as many had thought.

Speaking with Punch, the northern elder also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ban girls from wearing hijab.

He noted that young girls were now more frequently used by Boko Haram to carry out suicide bomb attacks in the North-East.

“But given the fact that hard power of military cannot eradicate terrorism, and given that small girls use veils to cloak the explosives with which they blow themselves and some others up, as well as the fact that God has put religion for the benefit of man and not for Himself (God), I would suggest Mr. President should ban small girls from using hijab until Boko Haram has been defeated completely,” Sani said.

According to Sani, who was spokesperson for the Northern Delegates’ Forum at the last National Conference, democracy preferred strong institutions to strong men.

“It is difficult to say at this time that President Buhari is exhibiting dictatorial tendencies in a democratic setting that is under the checks and balances of the legislature. I believe President Buhari knows that the problem of one-man show is not that it does not succeed, but because such strong men driven by force of personality are rare,” the former ACF spokesman added.

Crime › Medical Doctor Arrested For Carrying Out Abortion In Edo by oluwaSmith1(op): 5:16pm On Aug 31, 2015

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested the Managing Director of the Ofure Royal Medical Centre located at Upper Uwa Street, Benin City, Dr. Omokhomion Kingsley, for allegedly conducting abortion at his clinic.

Dr. Omokhomion was apprehended by police officers from the Zonal Criminal Investigation Bureau, Zone 5’ police headquarters, Benin City, following complaint that a woman’s pregnancy was terminated.

It was learnt that police operatives brought a patient disguised as a pregnant woman demanding to abort her pregnancy.

The doctor alongside four nurses were arrested while attempting to terminate the pregnancy.

A Police source told the Nation that its operatives recovered a lifeless foetus and hospital equipment suspected to be abortion apparatus.

The hospital was raided following a complaints sent to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, Mr. Musa Daura who stated that the woman whose pregnancy was aborted happens to be on a danger list at another hospital.

The arrest of the doctor was confirmed by the acting spokesperson for the Zone, Emeka Iheanacho.

Iheanacho affirmed that the police have been investigating the case of abortion, adding that the hospital has been under surveillance.

“All of them were arrested because they were involved in the act and they are telling us their involvement in the act.

“As I am talking to you, the person involved is still laying critically in a hospital,” Iheanacho averred.

Come to think of it, i have not seen anything wrong with Buhari's appointment so far.

If he allow people like Ameachi to be SGF, we will still be the one to attack him that why must he appoint Ameachi when he's facing Wike's probe panel.

Kanye West delivered a memorable and totally bonkers acceptance speech during the 2015 MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 30, 2015 and capped it off with a bombshell declaration: his bid for presidency in 2020.

The ‘FourFiveSeconds’ rapper took to the stage toward the end of the show to accept his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after a brief introduction from Taylor Swift, and used his time in the spotlight to let America have a piece of his mind..

He said, at the end of his speech: ‘I have decided in 2020 to run for president.
In addition, Kanye at the beginning of his speech thanked ‘lady of the night’ Taylor Swift, while recalling how he interrupted her on stage 2009, which was reportedly the first day they met each other.

He said: ‘Thank you, Taylor, for being so gracious and giving me the award this evening, I often think back to the first day I met you also.’

Taylor cuts in and joked: ‘It seemed like everyone knew about our infamous encounter at the VMAs, I’m really happy for you and imma let you finish.’

Crime › Student Arraigned, Gets N20,000 Bail Over Phone Theft by oluwaSmith1(op): 3:24pm On Aug 28, 2015

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday in Lagos granted bail in the sum of N20,000 to a student, Yusuf Ishola, who allegedly stole a cell phone worth N16,500.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Famobiwo, in her ruling, also directed that the accused must produce one surety that was gainfully employed and whose address could be verified.

The magistrate adjourned the case to Sept. 18 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Clement Okuoimose, had told the court that the accused is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Okuoimose said the accused committed the offences at Oladipo Labinjo Crescent in Surulere, Lagos State, around 2.20 p.m. on Aug.25.

He said that the accused, with others now at large, stole the Infinix camera phone belonging to one Ayodeji Olorogun and disappeared with it.

“Olorogun reported the matter to the accused person’s mother, who helped to search for it.

“We also tracked the accused person’s whereabouts, but by the time we got him, the phone was already broken,” he said.

Okuoimose said that the offences contravened Sections 285(5) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
