PoliticsBuhari, Osinbajo Happy With Compensation Of Centenary City Site by oluwaSmith1(op): 2:50pm On Aug 28, 2015
The Presidency Friday in Abuja welcomed an assurance from Centenary City PLC that all the original inhabitants of the site have been fully compensated.

Speaking after being briefed by the Chairman of the company’s board of directors, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and members of its management team, President Buhari praised the Centenary City’s main development partners from the United Arab Emirates for having enough confidence in Nigeria to agree to invest about $18.5 billion in the project.

President Buhari also welcomed the assertion by Gen. Abubakar and his team that the project will create about 250,000 more direct jobs in the Federal Capital Territory and about half a million indirect jobs.

The President noted that skills, expertise and vast experience that will be brought into country to build the Centenary City on the Dubai model, will also be of immense benefit to Nigeria’s overall development.

He said that he looked forward to regular updates on the Centenary City’s development.

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo who was also present at the briefing, said that the issue of the rights of the original inhabitants of the site acquired for the Centenary City had been of concern to the present Administration.

“We are glad that it is being handled,” he said while welcoming the assurance that compensation had been paid to those who will be displaced by the project and that the issue of their relocation was being addressed.

Gen. Abubakar and the management of the Centenary City also told President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo that the project will be totally private sector driven.

PoliticsBuhari’s Appointments To Be Balanced In The Long Run–femi Adesina Replies Critic by oluwaSmith1(op): 1:55pm On Aug 28, 2015
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina has called on those criticizing his principal for appointing mostly northerners into his government to first look at how qualified those appointed are for such positions, adding that it is the President’s prerogative to appoint whoever he pleases into his government.

While enjoining those already crying wolf over Buhari’s early appointments to first take cognizance of “the personal merit of each person that has been appointed,” he stressed that: “You cannot run away from the fact that each person appointed merits the position. They are qualified!”

Adesina, who made this known Friday while speaking on RayPower’s flagship programme monitored by DAILY POST in Abuja, said: “But then in terms of the spread, the thing I will also like to say is that the President has the prerogative to make appointments and he knows that there is federal character in our constitution. I’m sure he bears that in mind as he makes the appointments that will come in the future.

“I believe that at the end of it all, there is going to be a balance.

“These are still early days in the appointments he is going to make. At the end of it all, I believe we are going to have a balance,” he stated.

Responding to the need for Buhari to make appointments bearing in mind that Nigerians of northern extraction are already leading the legislature and the judiciary, Adesina said: “Let’s not forget that some of those were by elections, some were statutorily the next person in rank. There is nothing the president can do about that. If it’s by election, what will he do about it? Because he doesn’t control the election; the National Assembly came by election.”

“For the ones he can control, there are still so many ahead,” he said stressing that any position can be key depending on the way the person appointed into the position “applies himself to that position.”

On whether Nigerians can begin to expect ministerial list, the Presidential spokesman assured that Buhari will keep to the September dateline given by him. He added that, “September is just next month and it has 30 days. I believe that within those thirty days, the job will be done.”

No I don't. I personally believe ALL POLITICIANS ARE A$$HOLES. And that includes PMB.
But I voted him ahead of the "jesu of otueke" on the ground of performance.
I voted PMB to reduce corruption and stop insurgents.
But he seems to be over-delivering already!
BH that was bold in engaging the Nigerian army are now suddenly on the back foot.
To make thing even better, He just approved 65 private refineries in addition to the clean-up order of Ogoni land.

I did not vote PMB to make Fashola or any Yoruba man a minister or to give my tribe men appointment.
I voted PMB to reduce the waste created by the corrupt PDP gov. and bring peace to our land.
Every other thing is just an icing on the cake.

CrimeI Became A Prostitute Because I Was Stranded In Russia – 24-year-old Nigerian by oluwaSmith1(op): 2:21pm On Aug 27, 2015
A 24-year-old Nigerian, simply identified as Juliet and a supposed undergraduate of Economics at a Russian university, has revealed how and why she became a prostitute.

DAILY POST recalls that there have been recent stories about prostitution ring run by some Nigerian ladies who lure innocent girls into travelling to Europe to sell their bodies.

Recounting Juliet’s heart-chilling story, a Russian photographer, Tatiana Egorova, revealed how she was tricked into prostitution.

She further exposed the antics of some Nigerian pimps who lure girls into sex slavery abroad with the promise of better job opportunities, only to force them into selling themselves for money after making them swear to an oath to repay the money used in sponsoring them.

According to Tatiana, the most pathetic of the girls, is 24-year-old Juliet who went to study Economics in a Russian University only to be tricked into prostitution.

Tatiana said on her subversive discoveries, she met with four young girls, all of them from Benin City in Edo State, who were recruited into the prostitution ring.

She said, “Juliet is from Benin City, Edo State and she was first girl I spoke with. Juliet said her neighbor who was later revealed to be working for a gang, suggested to Juliet’s parents to send their daughter to study Economics at a Russian university.”

Quoting Juliet directly, Tatiana said, “I’d just finished school and my parents agreed to send me to Russia after they were convinced by a neighbour that it would be best for me.

“My neighbor helped to get a student visa for me. When we landed at Moscow airport, her friend met us and took me to Voronezh, 543km away from Moscow.

“When we arrived Voronezh, the neighbor told me I owed her $45,000, being what she spent on me on transit and I must become a prostitute so as to make money to pay off the debt.

“She took away all my money and passport and with life being so difficult for me, I had to join in the sex work because the woman and her friends tortured me every day for disobeying them.

“I was stranded and left with no other option. I became a sex slave to both men and animals and nothing to show for it because my madam takes all the money,” Tatiana ended Juliet’s narrative, promising to get more details and find a better way to liberate young Juliet.
