The University (LASU) Coordinator, Center for Information,Press and Public Relations, Ademola Adekoya gave this caution through a tweet via Twitter on Friday.

“LASU has not yet commenced admission exercise for 2022/2023 academic session”, LASU entitled the release.

It was said that LASU has not yet commenced its’ admission exercise for 2022/2023 academic session whereas some fraudsters have been using this opportunity to defraud unsuspecting students and their families.

At the weekly briefing that was organised by the Presidential Communication Team,PCT, The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu gave a statement.

He said Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is the only Union that refused to end it lingering strike action that was embarked since February 14, 2022.

“All other Union that went on strike had decided to end their strike next week lastest but ASUU refused to end their strike next week”, he said.

During the Union’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting that held at Abuja yesterday, Monday 1st August,2022 ,it was disclosed that the Union again extended their lingering Nationwide strike.

ASUU strike continues as National Executive Council, NEC, did not consider an option of suspending the industrial strike action embarked by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, at a meeting that ended in Abuja in the early hours today.

It was only showed that the leadership of the Union only made a briefing at the meeting on their interactions and also made submissions to Prof. Briggs committee set up by the Federal Government in order to renegotiate the 2009 agreement with the Union.

Base on the report gotten from Allschool, President Muhammadu Buhari will be meeting with ASUU chairman today.

Information was also released that the following people are to meet too; the Minister of Education (Malam Adamu Adamu) and Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC (Prof. Abubakar Rasheed.

The meeting is to be held together with the Vice-chancellors of universities at NUC. This is the part of the last ditch effort ending the Nationwide industrial strike action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities,ASUU.

The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah, assured the public in Owerri on Saturday that the Muhammadu Buhari administration is committed to ending the strike action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

While feeding the press on Saturday in Owerri during a reception organized by his friends, he gave a statement saying,” I can assure you that government is very concerned about the situation. Even as I speak to you now a lot of thinking, a lot of discussions and meetings are going on to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.”

During an interview with the Punch, The ASUU President, Emmanuel Osedeke gave a statement which he said, “It has been a while I received my salary and that was around February.”

He added that the government tactics of holding their salaries weakens their resolve over the Union’s demands.

The Union has decided to be firmly loyal even if the available work remaining is a servant or become a farmer to earn money, they have decided to wait for the government response, he Said.

This is the third week of meeting with the other party and yet, we haven’t received anything from them. We have also met with the renegotiated committee that is headed by Prof Briggs.
