Timewilltell3:I dont like your tone. I expect you to be more calm and lets have a civilized discussions as fellow Africans. Kenyans are not our enemies!!! |
The pogrom in northern Nigeria. After the initial coup which claimed the life of the most powerful figure in northern Nigeria ,Sarduana of Sokoto ,who is also the leader of the muslim population in Nigeria and much of west Africa the northerners werent gonna let that pass they were bent to take revenge in full dose against the Igbo "murderers" and massacre ensued across the northern Nigeria, and Igbos suffered a huge loss. I have family members whom their bodies were not found. This is very difficult for me because the Igbos paid bitterly for that coup and we are still paying but I see light at the end of the tunnel. I tried to be honest when I tell the history of the war because only that way might we find healing. About thirty thousand Igbo dead bodies were shipped on a truck to the eastern Nigeria and everybody went nuts and there was need for a dialogue. Ojukwu and Gowon went to Aburi Ghana to iron things out and the meeting produced an accord for regional governance that will relegate power to regional governors while center weakens. Needless to say but at this time oil has been discovered in the eastern Nigeria and this was also a factor in the deliberations. The northern leaders felt they were gonna miss out on the oil wealth while some accused Ojukwu of wanting to secede because of oil discovery. Upon return from Aburi, Ghana the Nigerian state took a second look at the agreement and felt they were conned and decided to retract their position and pushed for a central government that will give superior power to the head of state ,as it were, at the time. |
The northerners suspected fowl play and there was tension. Aguiyi Ironsi(Igbo) took over to restore some order but the northerners werent having it and its only a matter of time before they retaliate. About six months after the bloody coup the northerners retaliated and killed Aguiyi Ironsi in a brutal and bloody fashion. Yakubu Gowon (northerner from Plateau) took over the affairs of the nation while Odumegwu Ojukwu (Igbo) was the governor of eastern Nigeria. Odumegwu Ojukwu ,just for a little information, was a Cambridge trained historian from a very affluent background. Upon his return , he joined the Nigerian army and was promoted to the rank of a Colonel while Gowon is a rudiment soldier with a humble beginning. Remember what I said earlier to a poster a out pride....VERY DESTRUCTIVE !!!!! |
After the northern Nigeria took over the government of the newly created country with Tafawa Balewa(Fulani) at the helms of of affairs there was widespread corruption by the government appointees. Ministers were living lavish and extravagant lifestyles and there was need to restore some accountability and orderliness ,henceforth, the coup. The purpose of the coup was to seize power from the corrupt politicians and restore sanity. However, most of the coup plotters were of "Igbo" extraction and most of the executed politicians were northerners including influential figures like Sarduana of Sokoto and Tafawa Balewa, the prime minister. |
ghostfacekillar:That is not correct ,please. Let shove sentiments aside and show integrity and forthrightness. If you want a change start with the man in the mirror. The northerners has a well structured and governable state and that favored them unlike Igbos that didnt have a well organized single structure that can easily be governed. The northerners ,by the was were very intelligent too and you can see how it has benefited them. They played a better politics because they have experience from building an empire. |
omadeltason:And those ugly red and pink roof tops should be phased out too. They look ugly and poor. |
There are a lot of Igbo adages that encourages the people to aspire to become not just rich but very wealthy and most Igbos carry ideology into their various endeavors. This ideology, however, is very intelligent but due to the fact that in Nigeria there is no law and order nor discipline coupled with lack of a true leader who can craft and shape the minds of the youths with ideas and words many things were were left unfixed. Corruption eroded the very fabric of the system and everything fell apart. I needed to nibble on this issue a little before I dip into the soup. Hang on. |
But I need to describe the mindset of an Igbo man and how it has caused us alot of problems. The Igbo man believe in the concept that every man is a king in his own right and we have a very different governing system before the Europeans arrived. The Igbo man doesn't attach too much importance to a king unlike some Nigerian groups even in the south. The Igbo practiced a democracy like system. |
The northern Nigeria has a much simpler governing system that made it easy for the Europeans to deal with but in the south we lived in little communities setting that made it very difficult to penetrate and get everybody into a single unit like the northern people. This made the European to favor a northern leadership and Tafawa Balewa (Fulani)was made the Prime Minister and (Igbo)Nnamdi Azikiwe a mere ceremonial President. But people in the south, especially the Igbos were very enterprising by nature and quickly took up alot of vital positions even in the north and that created fear in the northern people. |
TayserMahiri:Alot of factors contributed to the resentment of Igbos in Nigeria but I think the lumping of the three major ethnic groups were the root of the problem. These ethnic groups has major differences that separates them. Their world views are very different, culture is different and before the amalgamation they knew little about each other. Upon independence there were bound to be lack of trust because they do not know each other very well and has not developed enough interactions to iron out their differences. I will deliver my points in little details but stay with me. |
Litmus:You are one of the problems of Nigeria. You are shortsighted and this hurts my soul. Look at where Nigeria is today? The poorest country in the world! I hope you derive pride in that. |
You have a President who doesnt know how to treat the emotions of his people and the diversity....How can Buhari declear Ipob a terrorist group, that shows you what an ignorant and incompetent leader he is. Buhari told South Eastern Senators they should be glad he even appointed some of their sons ministers when they met him to discuss the non existence of a single Igbo man in his security appointments. This is very disheartening! |
Nigerians are hardworking and probably the most successful Africans due to our population and the very harsh system that has toughened us and made it literally impossible for us not to survive anywhere. But actually it is not a positive thing because it has compelled us to sustain and bear pains sufferings. We are more desperate and will do unbelievable things just to get by in life due to hopelessness. Nigerians are aggressive, rude and unrefined yet they mistake it for "confidence". We need a President who will change the thought process and worldview of the average Nigerian because it faulty. You can insult the Igbos and call me IPOB or whatever but these are facts. |
Litmus:Pride is a very destructive thing!! Infrastructure wise Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda has left Nigeria behind. Look at the quality of leaders they produce to begin with. Today, Niherians are trooping to Ghana, SA , Kenya to acquire quality education and you are here wasting your energy. Have listen to Uhuru , Akufo Addo and Kagame speak ? They exude immense knowledge and conviction. Nigeria on the other hand is still contemplating among Kwankwaso, Buhari, Dambazzu, Attiku and the rest of those trash who to elect....I am frustrated with our condition. Why can't we elect people in the mould of current Emir of Kano, Soludo, Kingsley Muoghalu and co. I don't mean to actually elect the guys I listed but Nigerians in their mould. What is wrong with Nigerian youths? |
davidnazee:Keep quiet, Mr man! Bini people has no knowledge of Ezechima and this is a fact. What we know of Ezechima is that he arrived during a brutal war called AGHA IDUU NA OBA in Igbo folklore and settled in Anambra farmlands near Orimili Niger. Historians were not able to trace his ancestry to the Bini empire and the conclusion was that he lived with his subjects in what is known as current Edo state before a rift with the Oba of Bini. The culture of Onicha people were carefully studied by many historians including the Europeans who classified Uhrobo and Itshekiri as Edoid subgroup and concluded they were proper western Igbos with influence from Bini kingdom. You can twist the Ezechima name all you want but the evidence is too staggering for you to tamper with. At no point did Onicha nor any Delta Igbo town ever spoke any edoid language....Thats the most painful truth you lot dont want to deal with. You find it hard to swallow that your so called "almighty" Bini kingdom was after all a little village who dug a hole around herself for fear of invasion. Your kingdom will continue to shrink because the world has moved on. |
Lol...I don't have problem with you bragging about your little chiefdom but don't cross your boundary in the name of your deluded expansion. Bini "kingdom" didn't grow past what is currently known as Bini city. Calling Onicha an extension of Bini kingdom is childish and delusional. |
davidnazee:Lol... Did Onicha Ugbo, Onicha Olona and Onicha Ukwu also changed the names of their ancestors upon arrival to their current location in Delta state? The average black man is innately ignorant and ffoollish. By the way Onicha of Anambra is not the oldest Onicha town as there is Onicha Olona located in Delta state and their ancient names right from their foundation have always been Igbo including their deities...lol The thing about lies is that when you tell one you have to make up another one to cover up the first one...lol |
The kind of humiliation Nigeria has suffered on this thread is depressing. I swear, I have tried to defend Nigeria on multiple occasions but it very difficult when you have a dumb leader like Buhari. And yes, I am a confirmed Igbo man so you can call me ipobs yoot or whatever term you can coin to mock a peaceful agitation for secession of the Biafran people. But the fact remains that Nigeria is a failed country and foolliish is anybody that tries to defend that cesspit! In a country where IPOBS were declared terrorists and the murderous and bloodletting fulani herdsmen were exonerated of any wrongdoing. God will punish Buhari till eternity!! |
Investnow with his ugly pictures...lol |
TundeBricklayer:Do not feed the troll. If you paid attention you will see he has been ignored. |
BabaRamota1980:You are constituting a nuisance here. We have heard your opinion and now you can leave! |
However, I love that DMGS makeover and the elephant tusk and beads idea. |
Something is definitely not screwed on tightly with Investnow...lol. Dude post some of the poorest pictures but you can't doubt his passion. |
B2mario:I don't mean to delay this thread but do you actually know what is gross domestic product ? |
Moreover, I hate any business dealings with Chinese people. Those people doesn't mean well for Africa. They come to deceive, steal and destroy. Africans need to open their eyes, Chinese hate black people 1 million times more than whites. They will bring nothing but destruction to us. |
I am so patiently waiting for the completion of the Golden Tulip hotel. I must chop money there. And we need at least about 2 more of those in Anambra, especially Onicha and Awka. |
Curlieweed:Less than 10% Anioma claim Igbo...fact. And now they want to persuade Ndi Onicha to claim they are non Igbo and to say they want Anioma...lol. Onye ilo m' di ndu mia anwuna anwu! Fear will not even let Ndi Onicha want to join Anioma...They are surrounded by many dangerous lions and they know this....lol |
prolog2:Let me guess, you will pull that Zik's interview where he states his mother told him they are from Bini and of royal blood...lol |
ariesbull:And his name is Ikechukwu Keagborekuzi...ffoolish king leading a lost people...lol. They fit each other |
This Anioma issue is a distraction. We have a beautiful thing going on in Anambra and I can bet you when Anambra finally rises these same "we are not Igbo" iidiots will change their story because thats who they are, a bunch of trifling Bini wannabes. |
These Anioma sshit heads need to be forgotten and done with. These people have inferior mind set, always selling Ndigbo out yet they will eat sshit even if it comes from a Bini LovePeddler. |
