Nollywood: lols, I can't sit my @ss for 2 hours or more to watch ridiculous productions with bad execution of great stories. But just as you've said, I just have to shine my eyes. Cos though I don't watch movies, I can't deny that I got to watch Figurine, Phone swap, mirror boy, ije:the journey and I watched last flight to abuja this week. I was impressed with the movies, so as time goes on, I might get to stick to the nollywood movies; cos I prefer their own stories(the good ones) to Hollywood.

Fulaman198: What about people like Nwankwo Kanu who was one of the best strikers in his time when he was not sick. He was easily as good as Ronaldo when in his prime. Also Henry who is over 6 feet. Being a tall footballer has its advantages. Not really many disadvantages when you know how to play.

Also African footballers are very underrated. It is hard to really say what makes and breaks a strong team. When Nigeria was good in the 90s it was due to their speed, precise ball handling and passing. Don't forget how we bested Brazil, Argentina, and Spain in the 90s.

It is due to the corruption of our country that we can no longer field a team like that.
Kanu was never prolific as a striker, he was never good as Ronaldo and he a subsitute for Patrick Kluivert

Don't forget how we bested Brazil, Argentina, and Spain in the 90s.
Thats an Under 23 tournament which goes nowhere FIFA's ranking despite using overage players

gbokukueba: The men's gold was off the field so i didnt count that.
So...

USA were disqualified due to drug cheating so Nigeria was upgraded to Gold whats wrong with that, Carl Lewis would claim that he successfully defended his 100m title despite the fact that ben Johnson blew him away on the track.

If you say it was a team effort then I would agree

The football team should not come into recognition because we cheated with over age players

@the rest, I haven't watched them and I will not cos they are not Nollywood movies but hustler movies. Why? Cos they didn't premiere at the cinemas, so I can't regard them as a movie. If you check my former posts, you Will understand my point. I don't even spend my money on them.
Such movies are not included in any awards (aama etc) cos they are not recognized. So I hope you know the difference now
Sharon Stone of Abuja was acted by your beloved Genevieve (is it still a Hustler movie?)

The main fact is that I saw both Indian and Chinese movie grow from the 70's to date, but with your beloved Nollywood stayed stagnant, One of the Nigerian Actress starring in the above movie was complaining about the amount of time, 5 months on the set of the movie! When you have Will Smith moving to New Zealand or Australia to stay with his wife (Jada) who spent 8 month down under shoot one of the Matrix trilogy. I once saw a Nollywood movie that had the same story line as one of Tyler Perry's movie, its bad enough they copied the storyline but Saheed Balogun made Shane Moore look like Denzel Washington.
TV/Movies › Re: Half Of A Yellow Sun: Best Nigerian Movie For 2013 by omar22(m): 8:36am On Aug 08, 2012
@sisi kill, my advice to you is stop hyping Hollywood for them. Afterall its not gonna change how they always portray your country(and africa as a whole) in their movies. Eg. Tears of the sun, the Sahara, George of the jungle etc... What pains me the most is that, you guys always watch such movies and praise them not realizing their main aim; which is to ridicule Africans in the eyes of fellow Americans and the world.
I actually saw a comment of a white man on a documentary about nollywood on youtube which says
EXCUSE MEhuh??

Coming from an Industry that released £150m, Sharon Stone of Abuja, Blackberry babes, Jenifa, Cassanova etc. tell me what are those movies portraying.

I agree with you jare. A rating of four stars out of five stars is possible for movies (vote is caste by site visitors)because the last time I checked, I did not even see "last flight to Abuja" on the website. You can check http://www.odeon.co.uk/ . The rating may have been done by Nigerians in the UK (with a fairly large population in London). The author of this story is just misleading people
Exactly because 4 stars out five is extremely high that normarly goes to an Oscar winning movie, even Air Force one only got 3 stars and Snake on the plane got 2.5 so for some movie from a Car-Crash industry called Nollywood to be rated 4 stars was a bit worrying!

Dear D'banj (what happened to Dapo Oyebanjo)

Am not a Nigerian (and you listened carefully to MOBOLOWOWAN)

I cant remember anyone saying that Dbanj and DonJ are joined at the hips, according to Don J recent interview he said that they have grown far enough that they need to branch out to grow further. They dont need each other anymore, Yes Dbanj could approach Don J to produce a track and get paid for it but as business partners well that boat has sailed.

After I saw the semi's I knew that she wont win a medal.

Her drive was poor but has a strong Cruise (finishing) when your chasing instead of running you easily tie up and struggle.. She should either concentrate on the 200m or go and improve on how to drive out of the block with power and speed.

I'll be honest, I followed this guy throughout his stay at Man Utd, till he was loaned to Newcastle and then loaned to Parma. I never heard of SAF trying to use Rossi to replace Scholes. That would have been insane. If I am right, it was around this time he bought Alan Smith and turned him to a midfielder and destroyed his career. Now I am really glad Rossi didn't make it at Man Utd. I hope his deal to Napoli goes through.

Thanks for the links, My bad. sad sad cool
I do know what you were talking about as Rossi being a striker but Fergie's wanted to use him as a striker like Iniesta or Cesc playing behind the main striker because he could drop deep and pick up the ball, but it didnt work out remember that Fergie brought Alan Smith over to play as a central midfielder but
Sports › Re: Mikel Is Underrated By Outsiders - Frank Lampard by omar22(m): 8:56am On Aug 03, 2012
You are wrong here. I followed Guiseppe Rossi from when he was brought to Old Trafford. He was always a creative finisher. If you remember, there were games (I think against Sunderland for instance) that he replaced Ruud Van Nisteelroy. I believe his problem was Rooney. Sir Alex could not stand having to drop Rooney to allow Rossi shine.

The Rossi SAF wanted to use to replace Scholes was De Rossi of Roma.

thegoodjoehunt:
That made Kaka still the whole shine while Pirlo was actually the best player. Although Pirlo was the most important player of AC Milan then, Kaka stole all the shine because he was in the preferred position. Mikel is doing well as a deep lying playmaker, but he will flourish as a CMF. Just the way Fabregas played for Arsenal.

By the way Guiseppe Rossi was never Paul Scholes replacement, he was a striker and left because Solksjaer refused to retire to create room for him to play.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlMf1ohJdaE
Alex Ferguson wanted to use Rossi as a drop off striker the postion Scholes plays at the early stage of his career playing in between Midfielders and striker.

Godogwu: So you actually think the state of that stadium and the state of Nigeria will remain thesame until 2028? ....don't you think that's way too shallow for you to think?. The Govt can only do this much to better the lives of citizens, they cant go around giving N1m to every citizen. The betterment of the life of a Nigerian citizen lies solely In their hands and not the Govt.

God BLESS you for giving us those old memories of the GREAT mikel back in 2005 . That Mikel was light years ahead of this Mikel , He played elegantly back then and could shuttle between the center midfield and defensive midfield role until the defensive control freak called Mourinho brought him to Chelsea and destroyed his Career . Had Mikel signed for a team that encourages creative football like Bayern , Barcelona , AC Milan or even Arsenal he would have been THE BEST at the CMF / DMF role he plays . Take a look at how A.song has improved under Wenger .
Sometimes when people speak you have to leave them and let talk gibberish.. Mikel at 2005 WYC was still growing and was raw, is it because great manager identified the talent within Mikel and enhanced it, but no he didnt become the next Jay Jay Okocha people want him to be! Mathias Sammar the East German star of Chile 87 was an attacking midfielder but when he captained Germany to Victory at Euro 96 he was playing as a Sweeper we dont have the moaning and whinging people complaining, Bastian Schweinsteiger was a winger at World Cup 06 and Euro 2008 but because Ballack couldnt make the world cup in South Africa he was pushed back to partner Khadeira in the midfield and the rest is history. Andreas Pirlo was a supporting Striker but Carlo Ancelotti turned into a deep lying playmaker.

At the end of the day its Mikel's career. Man Utd signed Eric Djemba Djambe to replace Roy Keane where is he today, They signed Rossi as Paul Scholes replacement, hes gone, Mikel would have been another player for Scholes replace he would be benched or shipped out.

Its a shame the way Nigerians view Mikel, it was the same view the Real Madrid president viewed Makalele, he said he doesnt, score or attack only passes the ball side ways... Zidane why respraying the bentley when you are seeling the engine (by beckham as replacement)

Are they at the Olympics?

Are they in a competition?

The last time I checked one is a Singer and one is a music producer!

Is there a talent show going on..... Some people really need a lot of growing to do, they might have missed out on br£@st milk when they were kids[/quote]Well said.......................

People are comparing a singer to a producer as if they are in the same race or career.

D'banj is a S-I-N-G-E-R
Don Jazzy is a producer

I believe people could tell the difference? its like comparing Madonna to Quincy Jones

But typical Nigerian with their shallow way of thinking what next? who is winning between the Fish and the bird

Beaf: The most useless WDC's in living memory:

1. Jacques Villeneuve
2. Jenson Button
3. Sebastian Vettel

Living memory is defined as the last 15 - 20 years.

https://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w275/oesinorden/c650.gif
I wont put Vettel in that category....

Vettel had a driving style and Andrian Newey designed the perfect car for him (RB7) that had the EBD not fast but extremely quick round corners and extremely high down force...
