Well but do we have film Producers / directors willing to go down that channel

Do you think the average Nigerian Nollywood fan is open minded for high school stuff, which could attract the attention of every Kid ranging from 5 to 18 yrs,

Its all about those who could see things others cant see.
Autos › Changing Rhd Drive To Lhd In Nigeria (or Shipping Cars From Uk) by omar22(op): 11:31am On Jan 06, 2012
Please can someone please give any advice on buying a right hand drive vehicle and changing over the steering wheel over to the left side in Nigeria or Europe? Because I see the price of cars on here and they look scary! Buying a right hand and changing the whole steering mechanism seems more like a cheaper option and I would know what I am buying.

Because last March My Friend bought a 2007 Peugeot 407 for around three and a half grand pounds and shipped it to Nigeria cleared and changed the hands over and it’s perfectly fine. But when you see the prices of a 406 in Nigeria it makes you wonder what’s the alternative?

I strongly urge Nairaland members to avoid buying any car if the seller doesn't provide a chasis number or VIN.  Sellers should also try to upload pictures of any vehicles for sale.  Let us do what we can to restore confidence in this little automobile market or ours.  There is no penalty for not including the chassis number but nobody will buy your car!
Can you do the right thing? meaning more info is required!
TV/Movies › Re: The Fall Of Nollywood by omar22(m): 11:03am On Jan 06, 2012
I tell you that in Ghana now, they don’t show Ghanaian movies on Africa Magic. They show only Nigerian movies because they can’t afford to pay the Ghanaians. Do you understand me? We are fools! We are dummies! We wear suits, long beards and speak elite English, but we are being cheated by foreigners and we can’t do anything. Those people just laugh at us all the time and wonder at our gullibility. All you hear on television and pages of newspapers is my colleagues saying, “Africa Magic thank you”, “Africa Magic is wonderful”, “Africa Magic is this, and Africa Magic is that”. Now, Africa Magic has rendered us all jobless. Nobody is working right now.
If you have a good Lawyer you could sue any TV station that shows your movie without your authority its simple as ABC

You dont want a re-run of High SChool Musical (9ja version)

In reality where would you get up to kids between 15 - 18 years THAT COULD ACT

When we have an industry that uses a 30 plus as a uni student?

I could remember a Yoruba film were this lady squeezed into a jeans, with all the make up in the world trying to make her look like a Uni student? the next minute she's a housewife in her Iro and Buba,

I never knew afro Caribbeans were dropping out of school, I have seen many that are hardworking in school but most of the time they were Haitian(and at times female)

You are right though, blacks need to stop that mindset.
If you look at the Rap industry in the late 80s early 90s its about police brutality, white oppression etc from NWA and Flavour, KRSOne etc yes they send the message where did it get them, but when you realise that 75% of people who buy Rap albums are white then you think again! 50Cents, Kanye music is not about "because we are black"

I nearly fell into that trap when I was in Uni, I hardly attend class and I failed woefully, but I was given the second chance over the summer to resit my papers and I passed and I changed Uni straight away and I was the only black guy in the whole faculty, most foreign student from all over Europe.

Look I do understand your point, the same as most black actors and actresses! A black singer was interviewed once and he was asked that why did he move out of the Black community? he said they wanted him to behave a certain way!!! They asked Venus William why is she dating a white man, she said Blackmen feel intimidated because she is richer than them,

But let us not pretend that Nigerians are not obsessed with skin colour either. It is the reason we see so many threads discussing skin tones. I have never in my life met a group of modern human beings who just waste away talking about skin shades and which one is better than the other; dark-skinned this; light-skinned that etc etc like Nigerians do. They take the crown am telling you! We should all accept that God chooses our skin tones, we don't. I don't see why we should always have this big debate on something we all have no control over. A thread discussing skin tones will run to 16 pages on nairaland because everyone wants to grab the opportunity to diss the people who have a different skin tone and promote their own. It is so 1987.

@ topic,
I too noticed a long time ago that Ghana promotes the likes of Michel Majid and Van Vicker, but why shouldn't they when we've got thousands and thousands of Ghana girls and nairaland females drooling over them? (If I have more time I'd retrieve topics).
So, yes; so long as frantic females will continue to fantasize and covet them, colour will continue to rule the Ghana industry.
Thats the fact of life, most African men are first attracted to a light skinned lady than a Dark skin one (no wonder bleaching cream is rampant in both Africa and Asia) Once a upon a time a white man would go for Blonde ahead of Brunette, Black, White or Ginger, A World Beauty competition in the 80s where in the first round, they eliminated everyone except for those with Blond hair.
Celebrities › Re: Is The Ghanian Movie Industry Ruled By Color? by omar22(m): 3:40pm On Jan 05, 2012
Look all am saying here is that, for example if Barack Obama had mindset that the white people wont give him the chance to rule, he would have lost at the first hurdle but no he saw it differently!!! These are barriers we as blacks all over the world need to get out of our thinking system,  We have so many blacks most of the Afro Carribbean dropping out of school because they think the white wont give them a job so whats the point.

We all cried blue murder when Kevin Spacey won the Oscar ahead of Denzil, but when the dust settled and looking at Kevin's performance in American Beauty was fantastic. you have to realise that the Jewish Americans control the film industry in American, they put up most of the funds and they could say who they want in their movies.
Celebrities › Re: Is The Ghanian Movie Industry Ruled By Color? by omar22(m): 3:21pm On Jan 05, 2012
Now at this point you and me are going to stand with our own opinions, just leave it as that because you are in a bubble(which is fine) but don't force me into it.
Am not forcing you into anything! Not everyone feels political oppressed or suppressed by their white colleagues, white peers or white neighbours. Not everyone sees the worst in people, some do see the good in people.
Autos › Re: Whats D Price Of Audi 80? by omar22(m): 2:46pm On Jan 05, 2012
I believe your initial confusion between the Audi 80 and 90 was due to you comparing the B4 80 and B3 90. Very different cars, built upon very different platforms.
Interesting I always thought that the white one was an 80 Sport (which I still do) it was a K plate 2.0 (1993)

All I am letting you know is there is racial politics in Hollywood.
The thread is not about race,  its about Complexion (light skinned vs Dark Skinned actors / actresses)

And what the hell is Black Hollywood ? (or do you mean low budget movies produced by black directors) get your fact rights and go and check Morris Chestnut's profile.

Whoopi Goldberg - Just say you dont watch her movies,

Sidney poitier is retired and old, and yeah he won a Oscar decades ago in 1963 but there was never a actor of his calabar since then for many years for a while when he was a actor, also no black man won best actor award many decades after Sidneys win, until Denzel won it in 2002, so whats your point
Name a year that you think a black man should have won best actor? The only year I could think off was in 2000 when Denzil was nominated for the Hurricane but the family of Ruben Carter protested,

Djimoh Hounsou, he's a good actor especially after "Amistad" and "Blood Diamonds" but he hasn't really been in a major role since,
Again get your facts right!!!

White Americans don't know any of these 3 black men you mentioned
Idris Elba - Again get your facts right!!! go and get his profile he has films line up to the end of 2013

Taye Diggs - He is more into TV series which sometimes pay more than the actual movies but apart from the movie directed by Rick Famuyiwa all his movies are not low budget acting like they are from the Ghetto.

Morris Chestnut - Nuff said!!!

But most of the prominent male black stars sit on the other side of 40. The best known of the next generation -- say, Derek Luke (36), Chiwetel Eijofor (33), Idris Elba (39) and Mackie (31) -- are not only less influential, they're not nearly as popular in their 30s as the previous crop was at their age. (Washington, for instance, had already won an Oscar and made "Glory," "Malcolm X" and "Philadelphia" before he hit the big 4-0.)
Jamie Foxx won an Oscar before he was 40 the same with Cuba Gooding junior,  in the 70s and 80s not many coloured actors get major roles Denzil, Freeman, Portier and thats it, theirs a wide range of Black actors to pick from now, so many!!! Those who limit them selves to acting "am from the hood" and the "world is against me" bottom line is one the world most expensive movie and the most successful movie of this decade had a leading role given to a Black Lady! in Avatar.

That's not because any of these actors aren't capable of pulling off a "Malcolm X" or a "Philadelphia," of course. It's because they're not given the chance
GO and read about the movie, or do you honestly think they just pluck someone out of nowhere to play a role? name another blackman THEN that could play such role as Lawyer Joe Miller,   look Hollywood is not Nollywood that churn out rubbish in minutes,  making requires alot of thinking and investment and no one doesnt want to throw money at an investment that wouldnt yeild interest!

The role of Malcolm X, well Malcolm X was going to be produced by a whiteman before it went to court over the issue before the Spike Lee came in. Again you cant just put anyone in the role.

By your logic we should have a Black James Bond.
Autos › Re: Whats D Price Of Audi 80? by omar22(m): 12:47pm On Jan 05, 2012
Omar, the silver car labelled Audi 80 Sport is not any old Audi 80.

It's an Audi S2 Sedan, European-only model. Power came courtesy of a 2,226cc I5 DOHC 20V turbo, which made 230 bhp. This power was put down through a 6-speed manual gearbox and standard Quattro drive, with TORSEN centre differential.
Ok it was more like this one but (PIC BELOW) slightly lower to the ground and bigger rims

Bro, the Audi 80 and 90 B3 shared the same bodyshell. The 90 had a higher spec, chrome trim around the front and rear screens, along the side trims and tops of front and rear bumpers. The bumpers were also colour-coded,the headlamps were dual hella units, foglamps were standard, and front indicators were set in the bumper.
The Audi 90 looked bigger  huh but may be from both front and rear bumpers and all other add ons made it look more bulky than the Audi 80

Those pic are not my cars but they looked so similar to what I had in the 90s

ROFLMAOOOO!!! @To be honest, the only two Ghanaian actors I can think of is Majid and Van. There are lot more darker actors.
Thats my thought but I pay less attention to Gholly or Nolly whatever they are called,

But Hollywood? if its Blonde over Brunette I might say "may be" but not definite but favouring a light skinned Afro-American over a dark skinned actor/actress? nah!!!!

I dont know what they would gain? but a major out cry, but in Bollywood oh yes it does happen, During the IPL (India Premier League of Cricket) they selected white looking Indian girls as Cheerleaders for the teams and the dark skinned girls were a no no no!!!

One of my Favourite car

In the 90's I had an

Audi 90 quattro - After I bought it, I didnt like the plain look of it, So decided to pimped it up, 5 Spoke 15 inch rims, dropped it with a 39 mm sport springs, twin bore sport exhurst, boot spoiler etc The sound system was heavy (by Dynamic sound in south London). It was so low that I had to change my driving style, but on the motorway it corners through bends at high speeds that I would dear trying with another car. BUt something didnt look right about the car. But one day I got an offer I could not refuse from a guy who walks to the college cark park everyday just to see my car,  so I had to let it go

Audi 80 - I bought my Navy blue car, I had the same upgrade done to my Audi apart from the sport springs which was 45 mm a little taller than the one I had on the Audi 90. My audi was a beauty, much more beautiful than the Audi 90may be because the Audi 90 had a wider body, the Audi 80 looked cute and beautiful and the only thing missing was the power! the Audi 80 E made the Quattro look like a formula 1 car. After a year I sold it!

Audi 80 Sport A Lady who bought a brand new Audi 4, and She wanted the car away from her drive way, so I took it off the lady, the engine sounds just like the Audi 90, it had everything, I couldnt be bother with pimping the car up (May be I grew out of those things) only changed the car stereo to a more powerful one. Enjoyable to drive so reliable but in the end I gave it to my brother after a year

Audi 4 (People (Friends and Family) called me nuts for buying another Audi) I used it for 3 years,  before I started looking at Japanese and French cars

Koenigsegg had its record-breaking CCR on display at Geneva. The company is claiming the world speed record for a production car, having clocked 387.87kph (241mph) on the Nardo test track's eight-mile bowl. This just beat the McLaren F1's figure of 386.7kph (240.1mph). The F1's figure, however, was achieved on the VW test track's 9km straight, so there should be even more to come from the 'Egg,

Jaguar XJ220

Jaguar bosses had approved funding for a one-off show car and the team had gained the support of a number of third-party suppliers. With Group B regulations and a 200mph top speed in mind, the car was given a 6.2-litre, 500bhp version of Jaguar’s production V12, a bonded aluminium chassis from Alcan, an integrated steel roll cage, underbody Venturis for extra downforce, a four-wheel-drive system from FF Developments, AP Racing brakes with ABS, and race-derived double-wishbone suspension designed to accept four-wheel steering

RUF CTR Yellowbird

Just weeks later, America’s Road & Track magazine organised a little get-together at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. Amongst the nine cars in attendance were representatives from the supercar establishment, including a Ferrari Testarossa, a Lamborghini Countach 5000S and a Porsche 959, and a handful of highly tuned specials that included an AMG Hammer (a 375bhp Mercedes 300E), a Koenig/RS (a wide-bodied Porsche 911 with twin turbos and 520bhp) and a narrow-bodied, 469bhp 911, officially called a Ruf CTR, but nicknamed ‘Yellow Bird’ by the photographers on the test because of the way its bright paintwork stood out in the dull weather conditions.

Its hard arguing with people here,

They are going for a 15 years old refurbished carriages, we are talking about carriages that would we carry people, its like saying Nigerian airways are buying refurbished planes from Canada, its ironic that the Canadians recently upgraded all their rolling stock, so which part of the project does safety play?

or how would you refurbished a train carriage? would change the shoes, wheels, breaking system, seats, the whole design,

At the end of the day its still a USED train

Speaking at the third Lagos State Taxation Stakeholders Conference, held recently in Ikeja, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, explained that the new tax regime was scripted to enhance the state's revenue base and promote effectiveness of governance.
Fashola explained that churches and mosques, who owned buildings used for business purposes, were not exempted from paying taxes to the government because they earn income from such businesses.
Well most churches are registered as a Charity organisation which means you cant tax them!!!!

And how would he regret it?
Sports › Re: Taye Taiwo Is An Error -maldini by omar22(m): 2:07pm On Dec 21, 2011
even now Babayaro is not too old to play football. I do not think Baba's problem is just age. He did not look after his body and went astray in many ways

we must not forget that Maldini is 43 and only recently stopped playing. costacurta is 45 now and he played until 2007 at the highest level
Baresi quit at 37
Roberto carlos 38 is still playing for big money
By the way Maldini was a centre back originally and only became a Full back in the final years of his remarkable career.
Babayaro partied like hell Champagne here and there most especially at Moonlighting Night Club in Soho Sq. also wrote off his car after a drinking session, I once saw Moby Oparakwu in a buka in South London, he was eating what you dont expect a professional footballer to eat during the season.

Ryan Giggs is 37 and he said if he eats one slice of bread that has butter on it he would feel it, But Mikel, Essien and Adebayour getting drunk at along the Old Kent road, Its not what they drink but also what they eat all the fatty Nigerian food, no wonder Mikel was always late for training before Jose gave him his last warning.
