talking of movies, south africa doen'nt even come close. all they know how to do is shoot hate movies
SA movies, Comedies, soaps are far better,  and their shooting looks real compared to shooting through a window and the person dies but the window does not crack with they dont use palm oil or ketchup as blood,

Your point being? Genny is a celebrity in her own right and if you ask me, I think the ball should go the other way.She could do better than D'banj.
Genny na LOKI (LOCO), compared to the Big Koko!!
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 4:10pm On Apr 22, 2010
Jackie is far far better than those Nollywood shits you people are mentioning. This is actually the second time she is winning (2007 and 2010) in a row as best actress for supporting role(2007) and best actress(2010). Now tell  me which Nollywood actress has set such an amazing record. Has even that so called Genevieve you sing about achieved that within 3 years. That shows how good and supreme Jackie's talent is. When are Nigerians ever going to stop their so called Jealousy over Ghanaians and Ghana. Why do u always feel uneasy whenever Ghana is mentioned. The fact is that Jackie is the best actress in Africa and thank God her efforts were awarded. She is a raw talent and no one can take from her what God has given her. Congrats gal, we proud of u. may you win more and more and as for those that are envious of u, they're gonna die of envy cos you are getting better day by day. Haters can go to hell and cry their hearts and blood out for all i care. May you have a more successful career Jackie. Always know that u are the best and none is close to u.
I guess someone has blown a gasket,

I don't blame her because a lot of resentment has been shown on here

Whats the voting process for these awards,

The oscar,  all the members (actors and actresses) vote for the nominees
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 1:51pm On Apr 22, 2010
@Omar, have you actually ever watched a Ghanaian movie? I dont really get what you're opinion on their industry is based on if you haven't.

Thats like a vegetarian making an assessment on a steak dinner, lol
Well I ve seen a few when OBE started on Sky, They do suck as well!!! I have some Ghanaian friends that are also obsessed about these movies, when I vist their house and I realised that everyone in the house is watching a Ghanaian movie, may be 10minutes or more before I get up and leave but you could tell the difference from when OBE started about 9 years ago… They are not as good as Nollywood but they are moving… and moving fast, with Nollywood the acting is the same, the storyline the same ok the properties are better, better cars, getting a very old oyinbo man to make unilag students fall head over heels for him takes the biscuit,

You can't see Obama on Okada na.
So you put Obama and Genevieve in the same group? INTERESTING,

Next time she could ask for a PRIVATE JET

@ OMAR22. I KNOW U ARE A SMART PERSON, SO PLS REASON A BIT MORE RATIONAL,  I CAN'T BELIEVE U HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THE STORY IS A TRUE STORY,  CAN'T U SEE THAT THESE PIPO ARE TRYING TO MAKE MONEY WITH GENE'S NAME, BECAUSE THEY KNOW ONES THEY MENTION GENE'S NAME IN A TITLE THEN PIPO WILL FLOOD ALL OVER THE NET,  THIS IS ANOTHER LIE.
LOL,  you could be right

you could as well be wrong!!!

Anyway dont mind me,
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 12:37pm On Apr 22, 2010
Secondly, you say you have never seen and a film "A Perfect Picture" or any of Jackie's films, So what is your opinion based on then?
Honestly I have only watch one nollywood movies (actually 2) in the last 3 years, one on the Nigerian movie channel on sky from around 2pm to 6pm because it had so many parts and the famous Jenifa which it took me over night, I wish I could get those hours back but I cant, theirs reason why I dont rate the acting in Nigeria is because they dont want to improve themselves, they want to stay stagnant, Nigerian music, I love to death why beause they are improving by the minute and a lot of international singers want to work with the Nigerian singers, I know the level of acting but I believe its about time they take a giant leap forward, and that what bogs me, Ghanaians actors are in the same boat as Nigerians, but its like a Nigerian calling a Ghanaian black sheep!!!

But most of the Nollywood fanatics cannot stand the site of the Ghanaian Movie industry but the problem here is that they are catching up and if care is not taken they would leave Nollywood behind,

obesity related diseases arent even in the top 10 or top 20 killers in nigeria
Someone dies of heart failure the next thing they say is the mother in law, or the second wife or the neighbour that killed them,

I know of a lady who came for treatment in this country (UK) and the Dr told her that she should first loose some weight, but she died some weeks later,

we see people between 70 -90 jogging everytime just to get their heart beat working in perfect other and burn of some calories, but in Naija, dont let me say, i am not say they should jog but the efo, egusi, red meat, the fry-up food need to be cut back,
Celebrities › Re: Nigerian Divas And The 'orobo' Syndrome. by omar22(m): 6:45am On Apr 22, 2010
Stay ignorant.
Whats ignorant about that,

Watch RMD playing a romantic movie was head scratching its like watching Anthony Hoptic playing Romeo in Romeo + Juliet,

Its hideous!!!!

Another flat-track bully,  who thinks the sun shine through her back side,  this is what you get when you feel on top or your better than someone else,  they say take care of your character and your reputation would take care of its self I could see why some cant stand her, why didnt she ask her God Fathers (e.g Atiku) to provide her with a chopper!!!
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 6:07am On Apr 22, 2010
why are you even assuming such from his posts? all he said was he believes ghanaian actors suck, and whats your problem?
did he even make a comparison?
Wow,  the voice of reason just spoke!!

Thats the point YOU were icthing to say(in Bold),  That Ghanaian actors suck!

We all know When they talk about South African actors they are refering to the whites. Blacks there seldom get chances! South africa is not that great cuz the whites do the thinkin for them!
I wasnt talking about the White Afrikaans,  have you watch any South African movies?

Picture editing
Sound editing
Story line
Acting
shooting
Cinematography
Directing
Production
Sound tracks

Are all a million times better than Nollywood home movies

I'D rather watch their movies than Chalize's.  Cool
So, In ma opinion, YES!!!
You have hit the nail on the head,  "Your Opinion"

but you cant compare a kite with a boeing 747,

Bonginkosi Dlamini,  is a far better actress than the bunch of so and so churning out rubbish
Celebrities › Re: Nigerian Divas And The 'orobo' Syndrome. by omar22(m): 6:56pm On Apr 21, 2010
Exactly . . . I always knew you had it in you, you need to stop hanging out with daft people, it's bad for you. Cheesy Cheesy

Poor people are malnourished by eating only a little, and these are usually staple foods (generally starchy) while the rich eat way too much unhealthy food without caring about what nutrients to include in diets. . . 'evidence of good living' as Lagbaja called it.
This results in Nigeria having two extremes of eating-habit related diseases. . . one of which we'll be seeing in the Eucharias soon if they don't slow down.

Of course Malaria and HIV are up there, but then we had extreme levels of Kwashiorkor cases in the 90s and we all know how high heart complication figures were in the 2000s.
SPOT ON

THE LITTLE I SEE ON AFRICA MAGIC IRRITATES ME BOTH GHANIAN AD NIGERIAN! TO ME THE BEST MOVIE PRODUCERS IN NIGERIA TO ME REMAINS "MAINFRAME" "OPOMULERO" THEY HAVE GOOD STORIES AND THEY DON'T JUST WRITE UP A STORY TODAY AND SHOOTING THE NEXT DAY!. AND YET NIGERIAN MOVIE DIRECTORS EXPECT AN OSCAR WITH THE TRASH THEY DO!
South African actors and actress are far better
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 1:34pm On Apr 21, 2010
In ma humble and un-biased Opinion,
The contest should be between Genevieve, Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, Rita Domnic and Nelson Yvonne( Not so sure about this one though).
Would you say they are better than Chalize Theron?
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 12:12pm On Apr 21, 2010
gHANA STILL SUCKS THEY TEND TO OVER DO THINGS! WHILE ACTING
The way you sound, someone would think that Nigerian Actors and Actress are far better than Hollywood stars not knowing that they are below both Bollywood and South African counterparts,
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 11:51pm On Apr 20, 2010
Na still Ojoro!! Cheesy
Not even best actress of the week.
Ok who do you think the best African Actress is?
Celebrities › Re: Nigerian Divas And The 'orobo' Syndrome. by omar22(m): 8:10pm On Apr 20, 2010
If I wanted to see an ugly and untalented actress to play a high school chic, I'll get sumone off Nairaland. Grin Grin
Can you imagine, after watching the over-hyped Jenifa, I saw some of the oldest student you could find anywhere in the world, they were so big and old to be student.
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 7:51pm On Apr 20, 2010
She's good but can't be the best in Africa. Where do you place Genevieve, Mercy Johnson Rita Dominic and the likes. We have very talented female actresses in Nigeria. If Jackie was in Naija, she would be around no. 5 in rating
Jackie is the best actress in a leading role for 2009, they didnt say she is the best actress ever, they said of the best the year, why do people find it hard to understand

Sandra Bullock won the best actress at the Oscars for 2009, but do you really think Sandra Bullock would be in the top 20 actresses in the world
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 12:20pm On Apr 20, 2010
DON'T GO THERE!

You probably like Jackie Appiah, i don't! So deal with it and stop asking me silly questions.
what are you talking about, If it was you, I wanted to say wow!! you are a beauty!!! nothing to do with Jackie, I am not a great fan of Nollywood movies and I havent seen her movies before I just wanted to comment on your beauty (if it was you in the picture)

Look an award is given out for an outstanding performance in ONE movie in the previous year………. Whether some one is better than the other is irrelevant.

People win awards doesnt mean they are a better actor / actresses than the next person

Jamie Foxx or Will Smith, I would choose Will Smith everyday of the week but Jamie playing the role of Ray Charles pushed him to the top, Whereas Will Smith playing Ali had to compete with Denzel Washington in the same so he missed out,

Jackie Appiah had ONE outstanding performance which landed her the award, its not about how many movies or films or blockbusters you have had in the past, no!!! its just one shot in a year,
Celebrities › Re: Nigerian Divas And The 'orobo' Syndrome. by omar22(m): 11:06pm On Apr 19, 2010
Africans in Africa eat more healthy/locally-grown food compared to Americans with all the processed foods.
fried eggs, akara, dundu, puff puff, mosa, bun, fried meat or fish etc all fried with Vegetable or goundnut oil (not sun flower oil) is not healthy compared that grilled steak, fish, skinless chicken, even burgers are grilled

In Nigeria its palm oil, the Asians use olive oil, you would see a 70 years old man or woman being able to jogs 2 or 3 miles 2 or 3 times a week! I could bet a 50 years Nigerian would struggle to make 1 mile in 1 month
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 7:49pm On Apr 19, 2010
@Omar22, you need to allow people their opinions, I have mine just like you have yours. I feel she is not a good actress I am entitled to my view. I also feel" a perfect picture" was absolutes garbage, Although the quality of the picture and the sound was a breakthrough as well as the directing. Until now, I can not tell you what the storyline was. Apart from a friggid honeymoon night.
I do apologise, but some peoples views is here, reading between the lines, its out of bitterness that the award didnt go to a nollywood star or nigerian
Celebrities › Re: Jackie Appiah: Best Actress In Africa by omar22(m): 6:39pm On Apr 19, 2010
IMO purely on acting ability, Genny is far better than Jackie.
wHY Didnt she win it, Jackie holds the crown, and till next year when we have a new winner, you lot need to stop the bitterness,

The whole world thought James Cameron's Avata would win picture of the year but it went to his ex wife for the Hurt Locker, nobody cried over spoilt milk
