PoliticsRe: How Security Agents Hunting For IPOB Killed Unarmed People In Enugu - PUNCH by omenka(m): 9:56am On Aug 28, 2020
Okoroafor added, “Unfortunately, one of the DSS guys missed their vehicle and he ran across the road looking for an escape route. I learnt he was one of those, who started shooting at the unarmed IPOB boys. So, the IPOB boys pursued him with sticks, stones and planks and eventually caught him; they brought him to the main road and stoned him.

“Those IPOB boys were not bearing arms, but what I observed was that some of them had charms, because when those DSS operatives were shooting at them, the IPOB boys were pursuing them and when the situation got tense, the operatives jumped into their vehicles and ran away. I am not telling you a story. I was there as an eyewitness.

“I learnt that the one person, who was killed and burnt, was filming them when they were protesting and when they wanted to take his phone, he resisted; that was what I was told.”
Interesting.

People of the world, know ye this day that "not bearing arms" doesn't cover GUNS ONLY. If you bear objects that could inflict futile injury on people, including bottles, sizable stones and "planks", as explained by this "eye witness", you are ARMED.

These were the same objects they used to KILL the officer and whether it was that was videoing them.

Just to make things clear.

Why does it seem like we're averse to seeing or promoting green culture in this part of the world?

I find it so irritating when I see edifices surrounded by nothing but concrete floors. Whatever happened to making walkways and parking lots with concrete, while allowing trees, lawns, and flowers to cover the rest of the surroundings of the edifices? This would not only enhance the quality of the air in the surroundings, it would also do great wonders to the aesthetic appeal of the structures.

Infrastructural development we all desire, yes, but it is also imperative that we did it in the right way.

What will you speak of Buhari?
The story is about Ortom and Benue, not Buhari, and I'm speaking from the perspective of one who KNOWS what's happening in my state, not some useless political nutjobs who think everything has to be about support for political party figures, even when they know not a squat about what's going on in the place under discussion.

Even when Ortom was in APC, I strongly condemned his actions. From the very time he took office and set out to buy extremely expensive cars for his commissioners when the country was under recession, I knew he could be a gargantuan failure and I wasn't wrong. You pdp supporters attacked him then when he was in APC, but he became an unblemished performer when he decamped to pdp, a performer beyond reproach.

I dont play that sort of foolish politics.

I have criticized Buhari several times, especially with respect to corruption and security, notwithstanding the fact I support APC. You pdp supporters should learn to do the same, no one would kill you.

Foolish failure jailing people who criticize his government on social media.

Ortom is worse than the devil himself. A man who could boast of ONLY ONE good tarred street in MAKURDI in nearly SIX YEARS of his administration.

Pensioners are owed over twelve months arrears while civil servants are owed 5 to 11 months salaries. Rather than fix these problems, all he's doing is buying up choice properties in Makurdi. Look at the gargantuan castle his wife's brother is building in Ankpa Quarters. What is his source of income?

Whenever people start talking about his failure, he begins to play the Fulani card. Thankfully, the people of Benue state aren't buying that crap anymore.

(CNN) Vice President Mike Pence is no longer invited to deliver a commencement address to the graduates of Wisconsin Lutheran College amid ongoing unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, after Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times by police.

Pence had been slated to give the address Saturday to the Christian college in Milwaukee, less than an hour northeast of Kenosha, which his office announced in a press release Monday. The college cited "escalating events" as the reason a different speaker would be presented.

"After further review with careful consideration of the escalating events in Kenosha, the WLC Board of Regents and the College's Administration have jointly decided to present a different speaker instead of the Vice President of the United States, Michael R. Pence, at the Saturday, August 29, 2020, commencement," the college said in a statement Thursday.

A spokesman for Pence confirmed he would no longer be speaking.

"Vice President Pence understands and supports Wisconsin Lutheran College's decision to prioritize the safety and well-being of their students, and wishes the students well as they celebrate the accomplishment of graduating from college and as they embark on their next journey," Pence's press secretary Devin O'Malley told CNN in a statement.

A local pastor, Rev. Mark Jeske of St. Marcus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, will deliver the speech instead.

The decision comes amid some vocal opposition from alumni and current students who penned a letter earlier this week, updated Wednesday night, renouncing Pence's participation and claims from the college that the event was not political.

"We are concerned about the college's blatantly inappropriate decision to invite the vice president to speak for this monumental event for the Class of 2020. Not only is the invitation disrespectful, but also the remarks provided by the college fail to recognize the reality of the decision," the group wrote in an open letter.

His reason for thinking the journalist had no right to ask him such a question is because he is a former minister, and a lawyer.

The man against whom he has been dishing out these acerbic remarks is a VICE PRESIDENT and a LAWYER OF FAR HIGHER PEDEGREE.

A BIG HAMMER TO #FFK'S COFFIN FROM VETERAN JOURNALIST Asaju Tunde

-----------------------------------------------------------
I can share my column later. This Can't Wait
By Asaju Tunde
-----------------------------------------------------------

As a journalist, I am simply outraged; first to read the views of my chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche and later to see the clip of my dear sister, Ruona J. Meyer on events in Calabar. It's still early in Ottawa and I need to take it easy today so that I don't transfer my aggression on others (including members of my own family). But I am totally miffed!

I mean, this is an assault on journalism. Journalism is a noble profession. A profession that have rules. A profession that is practiced by the best of the world - yes (subtract me). Canada's Deputy Prime Minister is a journalist! The founding fathers of Nigeria - Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe were journalists!

I am disturbed and totally angry that a rabble rouser, a lickspittle, an abysmally corrupt, inept and uncouth Femi Fani-Kayode would insult a journalist the way he just did and get away with it. I am totally angry that this idiot of no compare would exhibit his madness on a halpless journalist who was only holding him accountable to the ideals he wants to be credited with, but which he lacks both in character and comportment.

But above all, I am totally disturbed, that colleagues who were present did not see this as assault on their profession, on their own integrity and on their noble profession - they were nodding heads and apologizing like agama lizards that they all are.

I am disturbed that a tv station even uploaded it with a caption that FFK reacts to a rude journalist! I am shocked that this is happening in 2020. I mean, Donald Trump has done worse to journalists, but he has also received worse. No journalist worth his calling and training should be insulted like that by a fraud! FFK is a fraud! I say so!

I think the NUJ should not let this lie low. If it does, it would have created a precedent and who knows what happens next. Maybe he would assault a journalist because he is a lawyer...there are lawyers in our profession too. Chuks Ohuegbe is a lawyer, Shareef Mohammed is a lawyer, Mohammed Adamu is a lawyer and there are many more. Sir Richard Akinola II is a respectable lawyer with a veritable source of income and a mileage of philanthropy that Fani Kayode would never reach in seven lifetimes, he is a journalist. Need I mention more?

Fani Kayode has no known job. He has never been known to have won a single case anywhere in life. His record of mental health issues is well known. Here is a man who has no decency or decorum. Here is a man who attacks everything that moves. Here is a man who kisses and tells...that is the lowest of the low. Here is a man who is hiding under judicial privileges to escape justice for corruption. Which of the journalists he denigrates carries this plethora or evil resume? None!

Yes, maybe people collect brown envelopes. But if there are no givers, there would be no takers? What are those giving brown envelopes trying to hide? That is also an issue, not that I support inducing journalists.

I am interested in what happened after this press conference. I'll be monitoring how his threat to report the journalist to Daily Trust would be resolved. I am waiting for the official reaction of the Daily Trust Management to this assault on their reporter. A news organization is as good as how it allows idiots treat its reporters.

Fani Kayode must be told in no unclear terms that he has no integrity to protect. He should go and clear his case before the courts with evidence. If he was picked up and detained, it would not have been for telling truth to power - it would have been for hate speech that he spews out daily; and it must have been for his shameful record in public office. FFK has no integrity to protect. We are all witnesses to his record in service, his dodgy lifestyle.

No journalist should endure insult from anyone. If you ask a question, you want answers. If people are not ready to give answers, they are free to walk away, but assault and insults does NOT come with the profession. No colleague must stand by and watch his comrade denigrated the way FFK has done to the Daily Trust reporter.

NUJ must investigate this. What happened before the question? What happened after the press conference and if people are known to (as would probably be) have egged on this demented idiot in his tirade just because of the brown envelope that comes after the deal, then, something must be done.

We must save journalism from charlatans and from political jobbers who want to hide under one finger. This assault on my profession by people of doubtful character MUST STOP.
Bull's eye!

Cut the crap. Stop sounding like a sycophantic asslicker, all in the name of whatever.
FFK overreacted and that makes him look not so different from the people he criticizes. The verbal attack on the journalist was way too much.
For the record, majority of you guys in Politics section are zombies. Even though you divided yourselves into two, where one side regard the other as zombies, but all I see is zombies and sophisticated zombies. Most of you are always bias in your judgment, always defending crap or twisting the truth.

It's very easy to become a zombie, that is why, while I'm religious, I also allow elements of freethinking, so as not to become a victim of cheap brainwashing. While I support a party, I try to be realistic so as not to end up a zombie.
Being a zombie tarnishes sound intelligence and most people won't count on your judgment since it's very much predictable.
We can't help being bias once in a while, but it doesn't mean one turns to a cheap zombie on every trivial matter.

By the way, the OBJ this FFK is trying to compare himself with wouldn't likely create a long scene of childish display and intolerance FFK created. FFK already turned it to a war of verbal assault on the journalist, plus the petty display of ego and lack of self control.
