In all this, we seem to have lost sight of the bigger picture.

The whole thing smacks of an executive scam poorly put together by the minister with tacit approval from the president.

What was realised from the registration exercise was in excess of six billion naira, an amount Jonathan supposedly "ordered" the minister to return back to the applicants.

Now, out of that Six Billion, less than one hundred million naira has been dolled out to some select individuals with the aim of securing some political goodwill. Tell me, what then happens to the remaining 5.9 billion?? Where did the money do to huh

Who are the beneficiaries of the blood money huh

If the new government fails to perform, the fear that they risk eviction will make them sit up.

I couldn't agree with you more Op. A change in government is the only panacea to the perpetual problem of bad governance we've always had. PDP has been too comfortable and complacent over the past 16 years on the saddle due to the absence of a strong opposition hence their mediocre performance. It is simply thesame reason why our governors always tend to perform better during their first tenure; they need to have some substance upon which to request for renewal of their mandate. But most of the time, once the mandate has been renewed, all they do is sit back and plunder the treasury to hell because our votes would no longer be needed.

When you make these guys understand that incumbency isn't an express guarantee of victory at the polls, they would definitely sit up and try as best they can to deliver on promises.

Don't worry buddie, just like Jonathan, if he messes up Nigerians would send him to Daura to go tend to his cattle. And so shall we send whoever succeeds him packing if they as well mess up. It is the only way to get government wake up to their responsibilities.

Imagine the things Jonathan has been doing in the last THREE WEEKS all because his defeat is imminent. You think he would do any of these had his victory been guaranteed "no matter what"?

We shall keep doing so until we get the right crop of people in Aso Rock.
