After leaving office, Baba is still found useful outside the shores of the country and so is he respected. I wonder what would become of "someone" after he leaves office. I doubt he would even be found useful in the community he hails from.

It might be a different story today, granted, but in the past (pre-colonial and early post-colonial era) the political elite (the Ahmadu Belos and Tafawa Balewas) of the north were as (perhaps even more) deft, sophisticated and educated as those from other regions of the country. The same might not be said about their subjects though. Avail yourself of some clips from the past where these men made speeches, listen to their arguments and read about their diplomatic engagements within and outside Nigeria then you'd understand that the person who has been telling you the north couldn't have produced leaders in Nigeria on merit has been feeding you with terrible lies!!

This question should rather be directed to the north that choose Jonathan as vice to yaradua but even at that if the presidency of Nigeria was best zoned based on competitive edge would the ever northerners like tafawa balewa, shagari, yaradua had ruled Nigeria till now.

The north don't have better quality and qualified candidates based on any criteria than the east, West or Niger delta,we all know those who lobbied obj to close the businesses of competitors and who evaded business rules and import duty during the military rule and who are now masquerading every where as genuine business men
