Exactly the point I was making and not him sounding pro-GEJ like the other poster I quoted assumed. What's my problem with anyone sounding pro-establishment?? Absolutely not my problem!

UchihaMadara: No no no, I ain't here to really fight or anything, just wanted to state the facts so we could all work with them, facts that is.

Yeah I know all about the re-basing, and the point still remains it was done with other industries now rightfully factored in, thus increasing the prominence of Nigeria as an important investment destination which is encouraging further investment in Nigeria. I, like the typical Nigerian, at first saw it as worthless as tangible things are still non-existent like constant light and so on, however I have read professional economists view on the subject and they all seem very optimistic about the future of Nigeria based on the new re-based GDP.
Errrm, not here to fight either, but a lot of young lads with very impressionable minds come in here to read the things we write, so it would be a great disservice to them if we don't put things in their proper perspective. grin

You said "Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa under his watch", and that, my friend, if absolute misinformation!!

Anyone could simply read that and conclude that Jonathan saw to the growth of the economy to a point it surpassed that of every other African country which, as you and I know, is absolutely untrue.

Like I said, all what Jonathan's admin did was a mere "re-calculation" and nothing more!! Whether or not that brought any added benefits to the country remains a matter of argument.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Former Leaders That Crippled Nigeria+photos by omenka(m): 11:07pm On Aug 26, 2014
berem: there is improvement of electricity due to the rainy season. Stop making it look as if Jonathan is responsible for that.
Leave them. All these people shouting improved power supply, including that clueless lady called Omotola, make me wonder if they were born just yesterday. Hasn't this been the normal routine since the days of Obj?? Improvement at the peak of the rainy season, and then the whole thing crashes again with the onset of dry season. Why are some people making it seem like a first time experiencehuh

Politics › Re: Nigerian Former Leaders That Crippled Nigeria+photos by omenka(m): 10:55pm On Aug 26, 2014
UchihaMadara: Hmmm, okay lets see:

Economy: Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa under his watch.

Unity: I really don't see how he has messed with the unity of the country directly, it would seem that said dis-unity only exists probably due to his tribe as has mostly been the case with Nigeria anyways. Evidence for this point exists in the fact that so many politicians and Nigerian leaders advised him against running in 2011, without any credible or logical reasons as to why. They just stated vague claims like "him running would destroy the country", and to me, statements like those are the REAL causes of dis-unity.

Security: I will give you that one, I am totally appalled, even by the demeanor, tech/gear of your typical neighborhood policeman.

So based on a score of 2/3 using your criteria, he can't be the worst saboteur as you claim.
Oh my days!!!! Hahahahahahahahaahahah!!!

Shey I said it in another thread some days back! I asked what exactly Jonathan could use to campaign this time since he now has countless number of shoes. The economy and security of the country are in tatters, ethnoreligious intolerance is also at its peak! Then was like, perhaps he would tell the gullible that "under my watch, nnigeria became the largest economy in Africa!" Now here's someone who's already bought the lie hook, line and sinker, and poised to propagate it!! Lmao!

Bros, abeg, just so you don't go make a fool of yourself in public. Nigeria has beenn the largest long before Jonathan became the president. What Jonathan did was just to RECALCULATE and state in figures just how big it is!! cheesy
It is called "re-basing", an exercise which is usually carried out every couple of years but which Obj and Yar'adua didn't do. The contributory factors that pushed nigeria ahead (entertainment, nollywood, construction, and IT/telecoms) are all factors that pre-date the Jonathan's admin!

Wouldn't mind if you thanked me for the free lecture thogrin

Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel And Palestine Agree Gaza Ceasefire by omenka(m): 8:01pm On Aug 26, 2014
RockMaxi: angry angry Do you care to find out how the problem started at all?
The problem started just after the WWII when US had to carve out a portion of another man's land for the occupation of Jewish settlers instead of leaving them in their native lands, Poland and Austria!!

They were given a yard and before you know what was happening, they wanted a mile!! That was the beginning of the problem.

Politics › Israel-Hamas Sign Long Term Ceasefire. Gaza Blockade To Be Eased. by omenka(op):
Hamas and Israel agree long-term deal which will ease
Israeli blockade of enclave after talks brokered by Egypt.

Thousands of Palestinians are celebrating in Gaza after
Israel and Palestinian groups agreed an open-ended
ceasefire to end seven weeks of fighting in Gaza.

The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, said on Tuesday
from the occupied West Bank that a formula had been
accepted by all parties and that a ceasefire had gone into
effect at 16.00 GMT.

He hailed the agreement as a chance to "build a new nation
and end the occupation", before thanking Egypt, Qatar and
the US for their roles in brokering the agreement made
during indirect talks in Cairo.

The Reuters and AP news agencies quoted Israeli officials as
saying that the Israeli government had accepted the deal.
Israeli media reported the same.

Hamas's exiled deputy leader, Moussa Abu Marzouk, said
the agreement was a "victory for the resistance".

Crowds took to the bombed-out streets of Gaza to celebrate
the end of hostilities. Many used the v-sign to signify
Palestinian victory over Israel.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Simmons, reporting Gaza, said that the
deal agreed an immediate easing of Israel's blockage of
crossings into Gaza, and a gradual lifting of restrictions on
fishing off the coast of the strip.

"The embargo will be lifted and the five border posts will see
considerable changes, with the Rafah border crossing
opening," he said in reference to the crossing between Egypt
and Gaza.

Discussions on the creation of a seaport and airport will take
place in a month, when indirect talks betwen Israel and
Palestinians will resume.

Ofir Gendelman, the Israeli prime minister's spokesman for
the Arab world, said operations in Gaza were a victory for
Israel. "During the last 50 days, Hamas was dealt the hardest
military blow it received since the foundation of this terrorist
organisation," he said.

Politics › Re: ISIS Captures Key Syrian Air Base. by omenka(op): 4:20pm On Aug 26, 2014
vedaxcool: It depends on who u are refferng to, asaad has lost huge territory to a motley of insurgents groups. Hence he still remains in a pickle. I doubt the us would want to coordinate with assad, for many reasons, including the fact that doing so would be handing russia both a pr and strategic victory. Hence the us might focus on fighting isis in iraq while leaving assad to face a double pronged attack from isis and other rebel groups. US can decide to bombard syria at will esp as the govt is not in control of large swaths of territory. Assad would still live to regret the day he deliberately ignored isis while fighting the more moderate syrian opposition.
Have you been watching the news at all?? smiley It is just the way said. They are reporting a possible coordination between Washington and Damascus to handle the IS threat. The US plans to fly spy planes over territories in Syria captured by IS to gather intelligence, and there is no way they can do so without approval from Damascus, and such collaboration could be seen as legitimising the Asad's regime. Very precarious and fluid situation we face.

Rubbish to me.

I'm not surprised. He's just setting the stage for name calling. He does this now so tomorrow when he starts criticising Tinubu, who is by no means a public office holder, he could stress that he stands on a higher moral ground, compared to progressives, having accepted his boss' record breaking failures!

We refuse to be fooled by these idiotic gimmicks and insist the current government is an all round failure!!

Indeed!! It is high time the president started using every part of his brain to ensure that doesn't happen, because apparently it is more likely than not that's exactly what is going to happen!!

If the FG had been working as much as they've been talking, this problem would have been a thing of the past by now.
