“I am calling on the people of Borno State to continue to pray and fast so that the incessant attacks and killings in the state cease peace and unity are restored" MOST IDIOTIC REMARK I'VE HEARD IN RECENT TIMES!! |
Ngwakwe: Proper investigation may prove this article wrong. What manner of dunce are you Since when does asking the govt to spend public resources more judiciously rather than on a frivolous janboree constitute a crime?Your type is the reason politicians would keep farting in the face of Nigerians and expecting to be applauded for so doing! |
@OP, please can you post it in such a manner one could download? |
NBC or not, can't they challenge such illegal decision in the law court? I don't want to believe they paid that fine moreso as this piece is coming from sahara reporters.
Keep decieving yourself... Whether it's coming from sahara reporters or Radio Utuoke, worst things are happening behind the scenes that escape the notice of the media. These were some of the events that preceeded the fall of some regimes across the mideast; govt intolerant of criticism! I have said it time and again, the Scumbag would wind up one momumental failure and I hope Nigerians, who never fail to learn to set aside emotions when making critical decisions, would learn their lesson by then. |
So much for free speech! |
The growing assault on free speech in Nigeria took another dimension on Friday as Kaduna-based Liberty Radio FM was slammed with a hefty N2 million fine over a phone-in discussion programme. The station’s ‘crime’? It aired a live comment by a caller who objected to the planned visit of the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, to the state. The caller suggested that the governor of Kaduna State spent the N150 million it cost to host the Minister’s so-called "Good Governance Tour" on more meaningful things. In addition to the fine, Liberty Radio FM was also asked to feature the Minister as a guest. The popular station, it would be recalled, also recently interviewed the governor of Niger State, Governor Aliyu Babangida, who declared categorically on air that President Goodluck Jonathan did sign an agreement with governors of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2011 to spend only one term in office. A source at the station told SaharaReporters that they have received up to 15 letters querying their broadcast from the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC), a body set up under military dictator Ibrahim Babangida to censor electronic broadcasts in the country. The attention to the station culminated in the letter received on Friday announcing it has been slammed with the fine over the comment by the caller on a live Hausa programme - "InA Dalili." The letter demanding payment of the fine was backdated to April 4, 2013. Last week, the police in Abuja, at the instance of Mr. Jonathan, illegally detained four journalists of Leadership newspaper for a story about a “presidential directive” aimed at muzzling opposition in the country. mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/liberty-radio-fm-kaduna-fined-14000-airing-phone-call-condemning-good-governance-tour |

kutchs: You people outof hate for GEJ just rush online to post rubbish. Tell me how setting up a committee to ascertain the workability or otherwise of amnesty a foolish decision.I beg to disagree with you. Let me give u an analogy: u have kids, right, and they have come of school age. A school just opened up down ur street but you know the quality of it's teachers to be nothing to write home about. With this knowledge at the back of your mind, do you go pondering on whether or not to enroll ur kids in such school knowing you have the resources to give them a better education? I bet you wouldn't tinker with the idea even for a second! In my opinion, GEJ goofed big time even mulling on the idea of amesty in the first place. The need for a committee shouldn't have arisen AT ALL! |
If the electricity supply problem has been fixed, and people like Obj, Atiku, IBB, Labaran Maku, Aondokaa, Anenih, OGD, Bode George, Ndudi Okereke, Cecilia Ibru, Jonathan, Patience, tony Elumelu, Bode George, Adamu Ciroma, Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Abdulahi Adamu, Rev Jolly Nyame, Uduaghan, Bello Adoke, Timipre Sylva, Tafa Balogun, Amadu Ali, Tukur, Maurice Iwu, Bankole, etc etc ect, are all serving life sentences without posibility of parole (not to mention pardon) with hard labour, I'd like to come back as a Nigerian, otherwise, a citizen of the Vatican or Luxemburg would do. |
ochukoccna: Whether you dig the ACN or not,you sure must give props to them for their classic punch lines which more often than not conveys the totality of their message just by the message titleWhen the president himself can descend so low as to say 'I DON'T GIVE A DAMN', 'THEY CAN INSULT ME FROM HEAD TO TOE', on national tv, what can one expect of his sorrogates? They are all from the gutter therefore are only behaving true to type. |
This man just spoke my mind. Since when did it become the work of the opposition to suggest how to run the govt? If they are overwhelmed by the problems confronting the nation and are out of ideas on how to solve them, why not step aside let more competent hands take over? I guess the word 'resignation' doesn't exist in the dictionary of African politicians. |
Are you sure u are living in Nigeria? I got 30 hrs of electricity ystday!! The Transfiguration Agenda is on course! |
I don't think the solution to our problems lie in dividing the country. I think we exert alot of influence over other African nations just because of the size of our population. We must try to maintain that element that gives us some leverage over others. We see clashes, bickerings, and hostilities even within thesame states and ethnic groups. So, if we think division is the solution then we must be looking at deviding the country all the way down to an extent every single family constitutes an autonomous country! In my opinion, our biggest problem lie in our justice system that seems to reward offenders and punish victims. Put away small thieves in the slammers and throw away the keys while the Big Crooks get a slap on the wrist, a pat on the back, a pardon, followed by a chieftaincy title! Once the law is applied as common sense would dictate, alot of things would take shape. The sense of oneness and patriotism would be re-awakened and the sleeping giant would wake up from it's age long slumber. I have no doubt in my mind justice if the key to our salvation. |

Sincere 9gerian: A maintenance work is being done on the PIPELINE that transports gas to certain power plants, including the largest power plant, Egbin power plant. This is an all time low for you man. What a shame. |
ckkris: Well, well, alhaji, tchief, doctor, Gbawe, JP, can do that for them. How clever!U realy do sound like a kid. One shouldn't join issues with u. |
The mods in this section are begining to act like wimps and cowards! Why are they easily bullied into putting some topics on the front page? Most topics critical of the scumbag remain ellusive amongst other general topics, and no one complains. But once any topic is raised that suposedly gives imaginary credits to the scumbag, that his Chiwawa troll on NL barks like the dog he is and, bam, topic hits the FP!! This cowardly attitude of the mods must stop. They should not be seen to easily cave in to the pressures of any select member! |
Well the report was in 2007. Most of his criticism of GEJ covers the period leading to the 2011 election to date. One's opinion about people changes with time as new facts becomes available. That's my understanding of the situation.
Exactly! But gullible sycophants would never understand that. Jonathan is corruption personified!! |
According to thesame wikileaks, Oronto Dauglass once described Jonathan as “part of the system of corruption that had impoverished the Niger Delta for decades.” And that “successful development programme in Bayelsa”? "Even his development initiative is viewed with skepticism by the populace," Douglas said. He said that the outstanding corruption charges against Jonathan and his wife were troubling, and that while Jonathan enjoyed the support of the "Ijaw leaders," the "restive youth" had little respect for the "so-called leaders." Now, how about that Hmmm. I dey laff.mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/wikileaks-goodluck-jonathan-was-part-system-corruption-had-impoverished-niger-delta-deca |
Sincere 9gerian: Now that power generation dropped due to temporary systemic collapse, the reasons were clearly identified. Hopefully, when those things are sorted out and power generation peaks agains, mischief makers will not attribute improvement in power supply to RISING WATER LEVEL at the dams. You are unbelievably disgusting! |
"I would love that you ask any ordinary Nigerian on the streets of lagos or Abuja. That is one area that Nigerians are quite pleased with the government...", says the Scumbag to Amanpour when asked about the electricity situation in the country. What a Liar! Nigerians would be pleased to send you back to your village to preside over community meetings come 2015. |
We don't have "leaders" but Rulers and Oppresors. That's why. |
Afam4eva: @OPAfam, u get tym oo! The OP doesn't undstand these things. He is brain dead. |
Kolade lost my respect when he accepted to run that fraudulent program instituted by the most fraudulent government in the history of this country! Should this news be true, then the man indeed just salvaged his reputation big time. Only crooks associate with the Scumbag. |
