Most commonly, those Staph are contaminants. 90% of those labs will return your results with growth of staph.

Why not use another lab?

Morever, did they not do Sensitivity test for the cultured organisms? If they did, you may simply use of the drugs that the organisms are sensitive to, though this may just be encouraging antibiotic resistance as I strongly feel that the Staph is just a hoax.

My gynae advised that my hubby should do sfa/mcs which d result came out n we broke down again. total count is 8 million. active motile 10% sluggish motile 25% dead 65% morphology normal 70% abnormal 30%. culture yielded heavy growth of Staphylococcus aureus. For me, I would advise you live your life 'normally': Targeted intercourse, every other day, around and through the days of the expected ovulation.

Was diagnosed of hyperprolactinaemia and have been on bromocriptine drugs. My gynecologist decided to induce ovulation using menopor and hcg shots.
Pls I just want to know if I should have continuous bedding as suggested on some treads here or I should only bed on d days recommended by my doctor.

well 400mcg is the recommended dosage but I'm aware many people are given the 5mg tablet cos that is what is usually available. It is not overdosage.

You may also discuss with your doctor regarding omega 3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q and vitamin c and e.

But generally, intake of green leafy vegetables and fruits will provide you with your nutritional needs as well, along with a balanced diet.

Well, you just have to relax and your period would return, since your hormonal profile came out normal; intramural fibroid is most likely unconnected with it too, and - apart from a poorly treated PID - the evacuation cannot explain it too.

The 'period' dates you gave are rather regular.

You said it's (more of) a male-factor issue. I hope that is being addressed.

Manage the stress well and the flow will return. I really feel is something more psychological.

Your history is not clear.

Is it that you are spotting in between your period or that your periods come as spotting?

The "evacuation" last year what was it for?

Last time I bought it was about 12, 000 naira per ampoule.

Number of shots she will need depends on if she is sensitized already or not.

If this is her first ever pregnancy and she has not had any episodes of bleeding or major medical intervention yet in the pregnancy, then she is not likely to have been sensitized.

Ususally, for those not yet sensitized, a shot will be given at 28weeks of pregnancy and another within 72hours after delivery. Some people also give one at 36wks.

Management of the sensitized depends on antibody level present in the mother, and will need much more shots and interventions.

She should register for her antenatal care with a tertiary hospital.

First time I entered a mosque was the Central mosque in Enugu. It's a big, busy mosque.

Growing up in the 90s, during the military regime, if we wanted to see the Governor, we would just line up along the road to the mosque around 2pm on Fridays.

So there are mosques in core christian states and they do their business just fine.

Transvaginal scan is a type of scan whereby the probe is placed into the vagina rather than on the abodomen. It is non-invasive, not painful and shows ovarian and other pelvic structures in much more detail.

The progesterone test is a simple blood test done in any special lab, and in any tertiary hospital. You can either demand for it from your doctor, or get it done by yourself from a competent lab, and get interpretation from a doctor. The test must be done on day 21 of your cycle.

I strongly feel that you do not have ovulatory problems. If you have the money and time, do the tests. Otherwise, save energy and stress until his tests are proved ok.

Discuss with your doctor to invite him for at least a simple seminal fluid analysis. Seventeen months is too long for a dh not to have done this.

Those are the commonest symptoms of hyperprolactinaemia, which means an excessively high level of the hormone prolactin.

When left untreated, it could lead to anovulation (lack of ovulation), which can in turn affect the regularity of the mesnses as well as fertility.

It is a treatable condition.

Let her see her doctor to comfirm this diagnosis, investigate what may have caused it, and get treated.

It is unlikely that you are not ovulating, considering that your cycle has been so regular.

A mid-luteal (CD 21 for a 28-day cycle) progesterone test will comfirm if you are ovulating. Alternatively, follicular tracking using a transvaginal ultrasound will also comfirm ovulation.

How about your dh?

It is most likely that those are submucous fibroids.

If there is infertility in the presence of such fibroids, the fibroids should be removed to improve fertility.

There are many things that can cause anovulation (lack of ovulation)

Commonest causes include hormonal imbalance due to high prolactin, Polycystic ovarian syndrome, some ovarian cysts, psychological stress, severe exercise, obesity/underweight, and some drugs.

I advise that you watch it for now.

If the spotting/bleeding resumes less than 3 weeks apart, see your doctor.

Because, since you are not breastfeeding exclusively, your period may also have returned, and initially the flow may not be so much or so regular due to the high prolactin from breastfeeding.

Do you mean you kept seeing the menses-like flow continously for 15days?

For a 28/29 day cycle, the ovulation day is the 14th/15th day, where the 1st day of bleeding is the 1st CD.

Coituss from the 10th CD (ie, May 10) and then alternate days till the 17th CD (ie May 17) will have the best chance of resulting in conception.

Am a TTC Lady, i have being experiencing lower back pain for 3 weeks now (5th May 2015 made it exactly 3 weeks )
i was supposed to see my period last week monday, but it didnt come till 4 days later being Friday 1st of May: it was very scanty and could barely notice the light brownish discharge unless i wipe and it stopped 2 days later (that Friday i equally did Home pregnancy test before i notice the spotting- it was negative)

pls what do i do ?

If you have not already done so, please do see a doctor to properly diagnose your low back pain and menstrual problem.

Before then, if you do not have peptic ulcer, you may take moderate pain relievers such as diclofenac tablets, 75 or 100mg twice a day, with food, as needed, for not more than a week.

Then avoid excessive worry and purposefully seek to solve all the challenges regarding your ttc.

At CD 17 it is generally too early for PT to be positive.

Of course, it is possible to conceive with PID and ovarian cyst, which I'm sure you are already doing something about.

Some specialists withhold all avoidable drugs, except folic acid, till after the 10th week of pregnancy for fear of the unknown

I think it's safe, as some vitamins have been linked to teratogenicity, although at higher doses than are normally included in prenatal brands.

You may commence folic acid now and start the Pregnacare subsequently, unless of course you already have specific challenges like iron deficiency anaemia.

Normal urine is somewhat yellow or amber, sometimes yellow brown during hot weathers.

Dehydration is the commomest cause of darkening of urine, and the urine should lighten in colour following rehydration.

Since you said the discolouration is not improved on rehydrating, then you should do a simple urinalysis and microscopy to comfirm that all is well.

to answer your questions, i dont smoke, i do take alcohol like some few occasions in a year, definitely not an addict. i dont take recreational substances, i aint overweight, please shed more light on BMI for my sake

i must confess i have taken a lot of carbonated drinks due to the nature of my job and the stress involved, tryna work on that i swear. i have begun incorporating lots of fruits and veggies in my diet and take to other advice, especially rhe exercise aspect.

BMI is a measure of how overweight or underweight one is.

It is calculated as: BMI = Mass/(height)2; ie, mass in kg divided by the square of the height in meters.

Eg If you weigh 75kg and measure 1.7m your BMI would be : 75/(1.7 x 1.7) = 25.95kg/m2

Interpretation: Less than 18 = underweight.

18 - 25 = optimal weight

25 - 30 = overweight, but not obese.

Above 30 = Obese

Above 40 = morbid obesity.

NB: I forgot advice about not increasing the temperature around the scrotum by not wearing tight trousers and undergarments, not placing laptops on the laps and not sitting down with legs tightly together for too long.

These little things can go a long way to help in situations like yours.

The first was emergency as the baby couldnt descend. We later found out the cord was wrapped round the neck and arm multiple times and this held her back.

The second was elective due to the position. baby was not head down

ok. Well, both indications do not fall under the recurrent indications for CS.

However, the fact is, no doctor will professionally advise you for a VBAC after 2 cs, even if they were both low transverse incisions. The risk is enormous, including maternal and foetal deaths.

I have seen both sides of it: women who had successful VBACs after 2 CSs, and those who lost their lives, babies or wombs following catastrophic VBAC.

The choice is always yours. But professionally speaking, it is not worth the risk. The risks outweigh the benefits.

I really might have been pregnant last month because my af lasted only two days instead of the usual four days with light spotting on day five. it stopped on the morning of the third day and spotted till day six. oh, well, till next time. once it's day 21, and I'm having the usual pregnancy symptoms, na to go sleep for lab till the test shows positive. Thanks for the info.

lastly, I've heard of natural progesterone. is it advisable to use such to boost my progesterone and do you know where I can get it? thanks a lot

I do not know about natural progesterone.

Primolut Depo is effective though, for treating habitual miscarriages due to corpus leutum (progesterone) deficiency.

The doctor at the private hospital said there is no need for evacuation of the dead foetus, but would rather place her on antibiotics for the period till delivery.

Standard management involves monitoring the woman closely until the delivery of the surviving twin. If the twins were less than 4 months sef, the dead twin can be absorbed into the mother, leaving little trace of that at delivery.

There is increased risk of premature delivery for the baby. Risks are higher if the twins are identical.

There is increased risk of infective and blood clotting problems for the mother.

With effective monitoring, these problems could be prevented or effectively solved.

The surviving baby will go on to develop, but mother and baby need specialist medical supervision.

When I traveled to see a specialist gynecologist, he told me I have progesterone deficiency which is why my body can't maintain a pregnancy, hence the miscarriages. he prescribed proluton depot injection for me to be taken once a week for four weeks once pregnancy is confirmed.

my problem now is that I usually miscarry before the pregnancy test shows positive. like last month, the pregnancy symptoms were there but the tests showed negative until I started bleeding. I was scared of taking the injection incase I wasn't really pregnant and scared of side effects because I heard your body deceives you sometimes because you want it badly. I was pregnant by December but didn't know about the injection then. Please what do you advice I do incase of next time ?

It is a fact that most pregnancies are lost even before the next period is missed, and this loss could coincide with the time of expected menses and will pass as another menses. Most are due to genetic abnormalities.

But if this is actually wat happens in your case is debatable, as their is no evidence of pregnancy since December.

Following conception, serum (blood) pregnancy test will be positive about a week from ovulation, ie from around Day 21 of the average cycle. Therefore, even before you miss a period, run a pregnancy test if you "feel" that you are pregnant.

If the test is positive, inform your gynaecologist.

Normally, Primolute N can be commenced right away, weekly, till as long as the 7th week of the pregnancy.

Take folic acid supplements too before trying to conceive.
