@topic, most privately owned companies are guilty of such, but who is to blame? I blame the government, the national assembly, the ministry of labour, and all those officers who do not even know the scope of their jobs

I mean, where are the labour laws? Who makes those laws? Who implements them? Who prosecutes offenders of such laws? Who even protects the defenseless citizens?

Well, who even values the citizens in the first place.

No, it is not ethical aborting fetuses with congenital anomalies or conditions that may cause functional impairments such as mental retardation. Like most questions of ethics, it is a tough call.

Personally, I believe life begins at fertilization, and this is the principle upon which I base my reasoning. As such, I believe Induced abortions for such purposes as 'preventing painful and sub-normal lives' are a grave disrespect of the human life.

Fetuses that will live should be allowed to live. It is not for us to determine who will live and who will not live.
Ok, who will determine the dividing line between what constitutes a 'serious' congenital anomaly or 'impairment'....one that should require abortion?

Will the same conditions that will strike you as a 'serious anomaly', strike the other person the same way? Or do we just abort any fetus we personnally feel will not give us our desired quality of life?

Consider that sometimes we have babies who develop cerebral palsy with severe mental retardation, after sucessful pregnancies and intrauterine development, following birth trauma, birth asphyxia, neonatal infections and so on. Do we 'abort' or 'kill' such babies afterall ....as they are going to 'cause and experience pain', maybe as much as babies who developed their abnormalities congenitally?

Again, do we put our family members to death because they developed a disorder, or abnormality, in adult life, that have left them mostly dependent, thereby living in pains and causing others pain too.

Or is the intrauterine fetus just easier to do away with?
While many congenital anonalies may happen spontaneously and idiopathically , many of them yet are caused directly or indirectly by the mother's behavioural practices while pregnant. Have we considered that too?

These are difficult questions, but anyone who believes that we do not have a right or authority to take ANY HUMAN life will not support *** INDUCED abortion, *** for such reasons.

ABUJA – Health workers and other professionals in the health sector, under the auspices of Joint Heath Sector Unions, JOHESU, yesterday declared an indefinite nationwide strike after their meeting with the Federal Government ended in a deadlock in Abuja.

Addressing newsmen after rising from the failed meeting, the National Coordinator of JOHESU, Comrade Faniran Felix Olukayode, who is also the National President of NUPMTPAM, directed members of the unions to begin immediate strike.

Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, MHWUN, JOHESU and Federal Government representatives, led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Fatimo Bamidele, could not reach an agreement during the meeting.

Those proceeding on strike include members of MHWUN, National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives; Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions , SSAUTHRAI; Nigeria Union of Pharmacist, Medical Technologists and Professions Allied to Medicine, NUPMTPAM, and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU.

Speaking on behalf of the unions, Olukayode declared that after the meeting with the Federal Government yesterday, there is need to go ahead with the strike having earlier issued a 15-day ultimatum before the meeting.

According to him, “We are hereby informing the good people of Nigeria that having presented our demands to the Federal Government through various Health Ministers since 1980 and especially the past three years without any serious commitment to meet them, we have no other option other than to embark on an indefinite strike to press home our demands as a last resort. “However, we sincerely apologize to the members of the public who are likely to be hurt by this action. It is due to circumstances beyond our control.”

The issues in contention according to the JOHESU National Coordinator are non-skipping of salary CONHESS 10; National Health Bill; Presidential Committee report on harmony in the health sector; promotion of health professionals from CONHESS 14 to 15; consultancy and specialist allowance and call/shift and other professional allowances.

Others are request for implementation of 2008 job evaluation committee report; re-constitution of board of managements of teaching and other tertiary hospitals; need for review of retirement ages and appointment of ministers of health.

Comrade Olukayode however, stated that the unions are still open to dialogue, adding that if the Federal Government invites them and consider their demands they are ready to meet them.

Jose Mourinho has explained why he puts on John Obi Mikel for Chelsea.

Mikel is currently in his ninth season with Chelsea since making his controversially move from Norwegian side Lyn in 2006 - a fee which originally saw Mikel sign for Manchester United and Chelsea at the same time.

My Aunt has just been diagnosed with Tuberculosis, after spending a lot of money thinking it was another sickness.
I know Tuberculosis can be cured but the high-cost of drugs is causing fear.
Also heard there are FREE(not sure) Health Centres in Nigeria wher Tuberculosis Patient are treated sponsored by FG,WHO,NGO etc

Indeed, the officer behind the camera also lost his job over the incident.

Masoud George, a lawyer at the Tanzania Legal and Human Rights Center says that as severe as the punishment seems, the decision is unlikely to be illegal. "It is according to their code of conduct, so from a legal point of view we can't say their dismissal was unfair," he tells the BBC.

But its so saddened here in my country (Nigeria) the way Medical Student(Pharmacists,Nurses, Medical Lab Scientist and Doctors) are being given mouth watery treatment on NYSC service ground and the future Engineers are being treated like idiots. Infact in Benue State where I'm serving Med Guys are paid like 60k @ppa, 30k @state level followed with 3bedroom flats of Doctors quarters(free of charge) nd 19k of allawee compared with an Engineering Student sent to primary or secondary school with 2k@ ppa and just your 19k of allawee with no accommodation even if you had a First Class(B.Eng) in school.
