Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerians Prefer To Buy Used Car Rather Than Buying A New Car? by Omila007: 6:03pm On Dec 18, 2013
Every_LadY: the responses so far goes a long way in showing the bunch of Nigerian mentality towards 2nd hand goods. Why is our country a dumping ground for mechanical /electronic and textile waste? simply because we do not have any more value for our dignity. Our new born babies are welcome to the world with 2nd hand clothes and some people tell me it lasts longer. what a thinf? huhAm an anti second hand wear of all type,be it car/cloth/electronics.... we can reshape our future with a change of our mind set.am sure some other Ngerians share same sentiment, no matter how small the percentage it must surely increase.
Mii Lady
Firstly used products are used everywhere in the world make no mistakes about it. It has nothing to do with the mentality, be it cars gadget or anything.
Secondly most news things are financed in the developed world from gadgets, cars, homes and etc.
If you will agree with me that financing is yet to be rooted in our system as a nation then you will understand why used things sell more.
If you doubt this please go online to e-commerce websites like ebay, amazon, kijiji etc., you will see the amount of used products sold there everyday both locally and internationally.
Cars like 1998 Toyota camry still remains a very high demand car even in the u.s, they only spice it up with the type of expense chrome rims they put on it, which most times comes more expensive then the car itself.

demoah: No i haven't and i dont know St clair college. I should remind you that not all colleges in Canada are run by the Govt. You should find out if your choice of college is a private one or run by the govt because if you attend a private college, you wont be eligible for anything such as off campus work permit or permanent residence. Meaning, you get kicked out once you are done.
Its Public college and they said i could apply for work permit after 6 months.

Bro my best friend in school just graduated from Lambton and my older bro is graduating April next year.
They both unanimously said Sarnia in a dead town.
I also have another classmate who just graduated from Contestoga in Kitchener.
They said Kitchener is a very nice place for but unfortunately i didn't find any course of interest there.
Fanshwe in London is cool too.

Laziness and productivity are two very different things but closely related.
You can be hard working and be under productive. Productivity is a function of Education, economical and geographical resources.
We all know African is lagging in one of those.

PhonesRe: Which is your best smartphone in 2013? by Omila007: 7:49am On Dec 05, 2013
Typical naija, just as i expected s4 carries the day.
Meanwhile a monster and best awarded phone of 2013 is totally ignored.
Htc one was the most awarded phone this yr.
Premium metal build quality, innovative camera, dynamic sense 5 software and the best super ips screen in the market.
Naija is always one way traffic when it's comes to gadgets, if hp is the trend, everybody goes for it not even considering other products and world wide reviews.

Samsung s4 is a good phone but falls wholly in so many areas that makse a device premium.
Plastic body, no innovative camera they just keep increasing the mega pixels, lacks durability and floods the market with too many models of phone at the same time.

Do a little research and watch YouTube videos including hammer drop test and see the result for yourself.

My older brother barely made 2nd class lower in engineering here in nigeria, today his is graduating top three in his class abroad, companies are already after him.
RomanceRe: I Think Life Is Unfair To Women & Guys Need To Be Realistic! by Omila007: 3:25pm On Nov 19, 2013
DailyNews: I know this may come as a surprise to so many regular users of nairaland who think and believe that DailyNews is always against women and supporting guys, anyway, that's my own cross to bear, but I just couldn't withhold the truth after observing this ugly trend amongst guys of nowadays.

for some time now, I have observed something ugly in today's world, especially in Nigeria, and I think Nigerian guys aren't saint by the day, how? Read on...

You are a guy with less than 100thousand naira savings in your bank account, and maybe u are also a student, an unemployed or under-employed graduate or even a school drop out, you are not handsome, not intelligent and not in any viable business or life train...but you want a girl like Kim Kardashian or let me say, Juliet Ibrahim to date u and also love u with all her heart, how and why?

In life, u must have something relative to offer to the other party if u want to be valued and treated like a king.

Most guys of nowadays don't cut their coats according to their length...they want a very pretty girl that's also fashionable and they don't even have anything to offer to her besides unnecessary sms and phone calls, and highest, sex.

Come on guys, be realistic, nothing good in life comes free, and if u get one free pls be watchful and tread cautiously.

If u want a hot girl, then try and be a hotter guy, simple!

You saw Peter of Psquare's wife, Omolola right? You want a girl pretty like her? Then work hard like Psquare and stop daydreaming.

Why should a very pretty girl agree to date and love u if I may ask?

Even if she accepts u out of pity or whatever u guys call it, believe me u are in for it if u don't up your game ASAP!
For instance, an ugly poor guy is permitted to dream of having a very pretty hot girlfriend but a beautiful girl is not permitted to wish or publicly declare her love or desire for rich guys, uh uh...that's really unfair guys!

We want girls to look very pretty, sexy and trendy, and we also want to date them for free and still expect them to keep looking cute and being faithful to us becos we are King Solomon without a palacegrin

We guys don't want girls to cheat but we are cheats ourselves and not planning to change...jeez! Life is really unfair to women, I can feel your pains, sighs.

I just felt like telling u guys this for once pls...if u want a very beautiful and hot girl like the ones u see on billboards or on TVs or wherever, then work hard to make yourself a desired man and stop complaining of heartbreak and turn downs pls...cos it won't change anything, so get busy and stop wasting your limited time online chasing girls and daydreaming in the hope of getting a hot girl for free online.

And to the girls...this isn't a backup pls...if u want a rich guy yourself, then try and make yourself worthy for one...cos so many hotter girls are out there to snatch him away from u, that's the reality of our today world!

Goodnight allsmiley
Brainless Post and typical of a Nigerian Girl.
Apparently beauty should be sold to the highest bidder, And beauty that fades is all she brings to the table.
Why complain when the highest bidder gets fed up and needs change of flavour.
Reasoning like this is why some girls end up grossly unhappy and marred in marriage and relationships.
Go and add value to your life so you have something to bring to the table, No man would value you more than you value yourself beautiful or not.

Jman06: Much as i am not in support of the the so called IGBO SON for his comments on Obi,i must at the same time rebuke you for your unguarded and utterly fallacious comments about Enugu state and Chime's administration. Now let's assume that Chime is a womaniser like he is being accused, does that change the fact that most of our roads in enugu are now motorable? That residents of enugu can now get the best of medicare? That there has been no record of strike in Enugu state civil service since Chime became governor because workers are now paid as and when due? Why do you think Anambrarians find Enugu state a safe heaven to reside? It's because of the availability of basic social amenities in the state. You said that there is poverty in Enugu state as if it's all bed of roses in Anambra state,i guess those destitutes recently 'deported' by Fashola to Anambra state are from Bermuda? And not Anambra? It'll do you alot of good if you can learn to think before you post trash in a public forum next time. I love Anambrarians and i 've got many of them as friends but that doesn't mean i should sit back and watch you play down on my beloved state.
You have a lot anambrians in Enugu because it was the capital of Anambrians state up till 1991.
Enugu city was virtually built by anambrians.
That been being said, Enugu was greatly transformed since 2007 when gov chime assumed office, all major roads and streets repaired and maintained to standard plus newly built roads e.g presidential road extended through agric bank, ujuoji and up to enugu pH express. Same with bisalla rd.
Since then there has been new development every time I visit.

EBK2: people like you will waste their time trying to get their kids to learn how to speak Yoruba/Hausa/Ibo/etc. When they grow, they wont even be bothered.

What I am trying to say is that priority should be to speak a language that helps you fufil your potential. I am Ibo but speaking Igbo language is the least of my priority and that will apply to what i get my children to speak. I will focus on getting them to speak a language that prepares them for the future (unless they want to contest for local govenment election which i doubt will ever happen lol).

There is a story I would have love to tell your to educate you but because you abused me, i wont bother tongue
We have loss this one.
Even referring to himself as IBO instead of IGBO.
I agree that learning languages that will help you fulfill your potential is an advantage but then Not being able to identify with the language of your heritage is not something to be proud of neither.
An American of german or Irish heritage appreciates anyone who speaks the language.
Your heritage and language is your history and who you are.

sexkillzmother: no wonder my Igbo neighour's children preferring to speak Yoruba to Igbo here in Lagos. i dnt think Yoruba lang can fade away.
Children easily pick up the local language anywhere they grow up. While I was in enugu I had hausa neighbours whose children spoke igbo fluently. And all so spoke there native language.

One Question though, What has your Region done locally to Checkmate Corruption? The T.A Orjis, Uzor Kalus, Osita Izunasor, Stella Oduah etc still hold you to ransom yet you can't do poo about it, and you dare profer solutions to problems affecting the ND!

Only the SW have the Right to Demand Secession because they have demonstrated the Will and Political Maturity to Survive as a Nation!
They have carved out a wonderfully progressive niche for themselves in the Cesspit of Corruption simply by rejecting its agents!

They refuse to allow the Central Govt drag them back! And today, they are lightyears ahead of all other regions in political maturity!

The SE is worst! Because despite the Ethnic Homogeneity which confers additional advantage in regional reformation, its still the most politically immature part of nigeria!

Unity & Secession are matters of politics, the intricacies aren't what I wanna discuss here!

BusinessRe: The Effect Of Sanusi's Exchange Policy - (Black-Market: N173 To $1) by Omila007:
remzytimer: well' from my point of view, i think Sanusi has just done the right thing, just that their is no policy without a negative effect, haven consider the greater effect of the advantage over the disadvantage and because our currency is more important to us.... permit me to say, this is good policy!!!!!
Please I would love to be enlightened as to the benefits of forcefully making me source for foreign currencies for my international transactions?
Yes international transactions should be paid in our local currency Naira that is something that needs not to be questioned nor contested. Owing to the fact that naira is our legal tender and not other currencies.
But why financial institutions should ask citizens to bring USD or GBP for there foreign transactions still eludes me. A citizen has no business handling any currency that is not a legal tender in his country.
BusinessRe: The Effect Of Sanusi's Exchange Policy - (Black-Market: N173 To $1) by Omila007: 2:54pm On Nov 13, 2013
stannydon: After Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's policy which stopped banks from issuing foreign currencies to people, citing that no other country does that.

I was also expecting him to mandate banks to convert people`s naira to any currency they want when doing international business or sending money overseas based on prevailing exchange rate. Why is it that Nigerian banks only issue BTA to people who are going for studies with a maximum of $4000 or its equivalent? If you want to travel or send money outside the country, banks can't issue you exchange, you still have to go and buy foreign currency through black market which is now being hyped by his cronies. Then where is the base for his policy? Because foreign banks transfer money straight from your account to anywhere in the world apart from Nigeria.
Bro you can't imagine the frustration.
A few weeks ago i was at Gtbank to wire money internationally to my brother, one would think that the financial institution would take the equivalent of the cash from your Naira account domiciled here in naira, exchange it, add there charges and wire.
But to my greatest surprise I was informed they don't do such, Instead i should withdraw from my saving account, source whatever currency i want to send from bureau de change, then present to them for wiring.
I was manically bewildered as to the origin of such policy, They offered to call one of there close by bureau de change guy to make the transaction easier for me. I was also soon to find out that this is a policy exist in all financial institutions in Nigeria.
Then again today, going by my little experience i decided to change my naira to USD before heading to the bank for an international application.
I was dumbfounded again when the cashier guy told me they don't collect denominations of twenty dollars and below, i had to ask him if they gave out these denominations if i withdrew from my domicilary account and he said yes. Imagine that?
This is currency i have no business handling as a Nigerian in Nigeria.
I am no Economist, accountant or Business administrator, Im not sure who this policy is meant to protect or whose interest its meant to serve but i do assume that it is the duty of financial institutions to provide foreign exchange for international transactions. If the CBN could direct that all foreign transaction be paid in Naira which i find very normal, why then would such person be asked to present a foreign currency for an international transaction..
No British would be asked to present south African (Rand) for an international transaction originating from England to South Africa.

Someone should please enlighten me if i am missing something, i am an engineer so i have no business in banking and finances only when it affects me directly.
