Foreign AffairsRe: Glenn Beck Says He May Go Blind by omofat: 12:24pm On Jul 22, 2010
You're right that the Obama administration has been flawed so far. Matter of fact, I'm actually quite mad with the guy - although I suspect for different reasons to why you may be mad at him.

However, I don't hate Glenn Beck because he opposes the government. I do because he is a hateful creature who constantly and consistently spews lies, fabrications and phoney tales - the more outrageous and outlandish the better.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by omofat: 11:39am On Jul 22, 2010
I don't know why you keep equating Zaachaeus with RCCG and not Akingbola in this your false analogy. AKINGBOLA is the one accused of stealing.

It's like you guys are all willing to give Akingbola a free pass as long as you can nail rccg and by extension Adeboye.

That can only be possible if you can prove Akingbola acted under orders from Adeboye.

Otherwise

Your analog is wrong - or maybe i'm just reading it wrong!
Christianity EtcRe: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by omofat: 11:29am On Jul 22, 2010
Pastor AIO:
Why not? Agreed, but go and do it in the politics section. Let's keep the religious section on religious matters.

RCCG is a criminal organization, and this is just the highest profile case. I have personal anecdotes from my personal life. Anyway sha, RCCG is not a christian organization. I repeat, RCCG is not a christian organization.
I suspected that most of your position was fueled by hatred (probably justified) of RCCG as an organization. However, that is not the point of this thread.

Stay on track

do you know the Christ whom you claim to serve?
do you read your bible, especially the new testament to know the nature and essence of Christ?
it is obvious your hypothesis should not apply to Christ who is the only son of God but then just shows what goes on in today's christendom as opposed to the standard set by Christ and maintained by the early church. See 1Cor.10:23

10:23
You obviously miss my point. Perhaps you can start another thread to educate me on the nature and essence of Christ.

You brought up a biblical story to illustrate your criticism of RCCG and my point is your story doesn't even do that which you set it up to do. Zacchaeus refunded the money himself, without compulsion.

My point really is simple:
Erastus Akingbola allegedly stole money, go after him.
Rccg may decide to return some money or they may decide not to. It's up to them.

Trying to tie up rccg with akingbola's crime is duplicitous unless you can prove a direct link of them working together. Or perhaps, that rccg (GO) gave akingbola orders to go and steal.

If you cant do that, then you're engaging in guilt by association and that's wrong. Plain wrong.

The yorubas have a saying:

eni gbe epo l'aja ko jale bi eni to gba lowo e= he who stole oil from the shelve is not as guilty as the one who received it from him.

are you now claiming ignorance=innocence for our supposedly all-knowing GO who has tea etc with his daddy god.

For most Niaja christians Proverbs 14v34:

does not exist in their personal bible.
Quoting one scripture here and there doesn't necessarily make a spiritual somebody.

So now your whole legal standpoint is based on a yoruba proverb?

^^^ Since you're so into this particular story, let take abit further.

Christ went to eat in this man's house, no?
Lets imagine that Zacc didn't feel convicted and make the offer to repay, would Christ have had to vomit the food he ate?
Would the folks outside have been justified to come and carry Christ because he "knowingly" ate in a crooked man's house?

I'm not saying the church should be a haven for all kinds of criminals but come on, be fair.

As someone said earlier, are you also going to go after the children's schools and everyone Akingbola ever donated money to?

Come on

Christianity EtcRe: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by omofat: 10:20am On Jul 22, 2010
Enigma:
^^^ And RCCG does not feel convicted about receiving stolen money? Is RCCG really following Christ then?
Let's take your argument to its logical conclusion.

So Akingbola donates money to rccg.
Rccg donates some money to an up and coming "KiniKan ministeries" in Kotangora.
Kinikan ministeries has a benevolence fund where they help struggling members with small monies here and there.

How far are you prepared to follow the money trail?

Or God forbid RCCG donates food to an orphanage some place in remote borno state.

Are we going to demand Akingbola's stolen funds from them too?

Or is it just the private jet that is worrying you?

If Akingbola stole money, Go after Akingbola.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by omofat: 10:07am On Jul 22, 2010
Enigma:
So, Zacc felt convicted by Christ's teaching; but the RCCG does not feel convicted by Christ's teaching!

Which one of them is Christ's follower then? Does RCCG believe in Christ at all, then?
RCCG didn't steal the money.
Akingbola did.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by omofat: 10:05am On Jul 22, 2010
Akingbola stole money.
Out of good conscience, Akingbola should return said money.
Akingbola will probably not return said money because he is still contesting that it was stolen in the first place.
If convicted in court, then said money can be forcefully collected.
RCCG has no real reason to return money stolen by Akingbola.
One may argue that RCCG has a moral imperative to return the money, but this is not compulsory and really just depends on their good sense.
Maybe RCCG can donate a sum to a named charity or something. But then they can already claim they are a charity themselves and do numerous charity works.

Summary: Minefield.

Enigma:
Very good answer  too.

Also, below is an interesting exercise in 'logic':

- Akingbola has not been convicted of stealing

- RCCG has not been proven to have received stolen money from Akingbola

- James Ibori has not been convicted of looting

- Babangida has not been convicted of looting

- Abacha was never convicted of looting

- Abacha was never convicted of brutality

- Abacha was never convicted of killing Ken saro Wiwa
Christ didn't tell Zacc to return the money, Christ didn't force Zacc to return the money - Zacc himself felt convicted and offered to refund whatever stolen money he had with interest. Get the story right.

^^^ I think you're getting worked up over nothing much.

If you had been following the thread, you would realise that Texazzpete was only referring to the author's bonafides and questioning his objectivity as a result. I understand that the single quote you cite might make it seem that way but perhaps read the quote within the context of the entire thread and it's not so difficult to see.

I really don't think you can make that leap to equating it with racial discrimination solely based on name.

Foreign AffairsRe: Glenn Beck Says He May Go Blind by omofat: 4:41pm On Jul 20, 2010
Well it is claimed that he has some kind of degenrative eye disease.

And believe me when I say this, when I read the story, I really tried to summon some element of human compassion. I tried bruv, honest, I tried.

But it just didn't happen. I would be lying and would be a hypocrite if I said I wished him well cause I really don't. Now thats a dilemma I'm battling with because I know I shouldnt hate him so much. I shouldn't repay evil with evil, but it's haaardd. If he really did go blind, it would be some form of cosmic justice.

Beck, Limbaugh, Bachmann and the whole bunch of them,

Ah - one can only dream,
