OfoIgbo:Emefiele makes Adeosun look like Einstein, but you conveniently overlook him. At least Adeosun only failed to do NYSC, instead of wrecking the livelihood of 200 million Nigerians for an entire decade. Hypocritical tribalists like you have no business accusing anyone else of "fake expertise". |
prof22:The clown means that as long as the deaths were those of "mere" Nigerians, we can safely ignore them, since all that matters is whether this might provoke American intervention, not the deaths of several fellow nationals who were very likely Igbo themselves. At least, that's the attempted spin by those trying to make this out as "good" news. |
Here's more of that SE ritualistic barbarism that is supposedly exclusive to the SW. https://saharareporters.com/2022/02/11/exclusive-community-residents-south-east-nigeria-others-desert-homes-over-rise-ritual Some residents of Isiala-Ngwa and Ihiala in Abia and Anambra states have fled their homes over the rising cases of ritual killing in those places.Let's not forget the infamous Okija shrine. https://www.thecable.ng/we-are-all-ritual-killers In 2004, police discovered fifty bodies in Okija Shrine in Anambra state. Prominent Nigerian politicians visited this shrine from nearby states like Abia and Imo to faraway states like Sokoto and Adamawa. Okija Shrine is where these politicians take secret oaths often aimed at defrauding the people of Nigeria, sharing resources of the state, channeling them into private use, and protecting that ill-gotten wealth. From the same article, we also have the following. In 2016, construction workers discovered three dead bodies in the foundation of a church building under construction in Enugu. The building owner was a ritualist masquerading as a man of God. When the man was arrested and investigated, the bodies turned out to be those of missing keke drivers. So many like him successfully built their churches without being discovered. That Igbo trolls have been the ones exclusively focused on posting articles about "skull mining" shouldn't allow us to mistake propaganda for reality, which is that the ridiculous superstitions which encourage such barbarity are a shared heritage of Nigeria's entire south, and in that whole region, only in the SE (in Ohafia, in particular) was head-hunting practiced as recently as the 1920s. |
AdaojoTheUrchin:Where was Clifford Orji from again? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford_Orji Did the Otokoto incident happen in Ogun state? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Otokoto_Riots And in which region have we seen disgusting pictures taken by "unknown gunmen" of human hands and heads in cooking pots? https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/02/20/killing-in-the-name-of-biafra/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lidxQzAnCXY Enough with the pretense that such barbarism isn't as commonplace in your own homelands. |
STRI1:You're the delusional one, and apparently you have poor reading comprehension skills as well. Where have I ever claimed Jews believe in Jesus? If you'd ever actually read that Christian Bible you claim to believe in, you wouldn't consider this news worthy of sharing with anyone. Why do you think they had Jesus crucified in the first place, because they didn't like the way he made pancakes? What Jews do or don't believe has zero relevance to the question of whether this inflammatory "news" is true or not, and the facts are clear: this is a made-up b*llsh*t story from Newsmax, a right-wing b*llsh*t outlet pretending to be a "news" network. Israel's Knesset has 120 members, and 2 extremists out of the 120 proposed a stupid bill that never had any chance of passing. The bill has never been advanced to a vote, and if it were, Prime Minister Netanyahu has already said he would never sign it. The whole thing is a hysterical piece of nonsense intended to fan the paranoia of intolerant, Trumpist "Christians" who need to feel they are the ones being persecuted rather than being overwhelmingly the ones persecuting others. |
STRI1:Not a single one of the links you provide is from a credible source. While CNBC is a serious news outlet, the link you include is not to CNBC, it's to a right-wing, American Trumpist "news" network called "CBN" (named in a deliberately deceptive manner to associate it with CBS News). So no, you haven't done anything to convince those of us who don't already live in a Trumptard echo-chamber of alarmist right-wing hysteria. The day your eyes open ehnnI said America is a majority-Christian nation, not that it has Christianity as an official religion. Here, educate yourself: https://www.prri.org/research/2020-census-of-american-religion/ Seven in ten Americans (70%) identify as Christian, including more than four in ten who identify as white Christian and more than one-quarter who identify as Christian of color.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_the_United_States Christianity is the most prevalent religion in the United States. Estimates from 2021 suggest that of the entire U.S. population (332 million) about 63% is Christian (210 million). |
mbaise1000:Newsmax is fake news almost by definition. I bet you can't find any credible news source carrying this ridiculous claim. Why would a country so dependent on an overwhelmingly Christian state like the USA suddenly decide to jeopardize that relationship for such a reason? Here are some links indicating this story is nonsense. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2023/apr/27/facebook-posts/is-israel-banning-christianity-no-prime-minister-b/ https://www.logically.ai/factchecks/library/486c7fd5 |
CodeTemplar:More meaningless drivel from an economic illiterate. Why don't you take a hint and stay the f*** out of my mentions? Buzz off, I don't have time for your nonsense! |
tungamaje:Why not quote the full paragraph from which you cribbed that quote? Because it doesn't support your attempt to exonerate your kinsman? Here it is, for the record: However, there are three issues for which the CBN, in the discharge of its functions, is required to seek external authorization, and only from the President of Nigeria: any alterations to the legal tender (the Naira); any investment of the Bank’s funds outside Nigeria; and the Bank’s annual report. However, this is as far as it goes. The president can neither direct the Bank on what policies to take nor issue directives on how the policies of the CBN should be implemented. So much for your attempt to deflect blame from where it is due. Emefiele needed Buhari's authorization to carry out his "New Naira" policy, but it wasn't (or at least, shouldn't have been) at Buhari's direction. It's hardly surprising that an economic illiterate like Buhari should have simply rubber-stamped a CBN proposal under the delusion that Emefiele actually knew what he was doing. |
tungamaje:Contrary to what the Emefiele apologists would like you to believe, he is not in fact at the beck and call of Buhari. The CBN is statutorily independent: once Buhari appointed Emefiele to a second term, he lost any real control over what Emefiele could or should do. As such, any decision by Emefiele to go along with Buhari's preferences would simply have been due to a lack of backbone on Emefiele's part, not because the law compelled him to do so. https://businessday.ng/news/legal-business/article/what-does-the-cbns-independence-really-mean/ What does it mean for the CBN to be independent? It is quite telling that so many can be found trying to shift blame from Emefiele onto Buhari despite all of the above. Even more telling is that every single one of them happens to share the same ethnicity as the feckless CBN governor who has single-handedly done more damage to the Nigerian economy than even the utterly useless Buhari. Worse yet, these are the very same people who make a big show of supporting the mediocre Peter Obi because they value "competence", even as they rally round a kinsman who has been the most spectacularly incompetent person to hold high office in Nigeria for the last 30 years. They are quick to accuse others of tribalism, yet exemplify it in their inability to acknowledge any flaws whatsoever in their own ranks. |
Supremos:Given how many apprentices Tinubu seems to have in Asian prisons, I hope you'll agree that Tinubu is far from being an Igbo-hater. To the contrary, he loves Igbos so much he trusts them exclusively over his fellow Yorubas when it comes to Asian drug trafficking. Instead of being Amoda Yekini Ogunlere from Iragbiji, perhaps Tinubu is actually Arinze Emeke Chukwudi from Abakaliki! |
I hate lies, tell your people to stop deceiving gullible minds with propaganda
Whatever dude. Like I said, I really don't care - I just find it sad that this is the best way a grown man can think of to spend his time. |
Not interested in your epistle, exposed your lies
Lol! "My" lies? What makes you think I give a damn what Ogunlesi or whoever owns? How does it affect my life in any way? You really are pathetic. If only Nigeria had a better healthcare system, so that you could receive the psychological counseling you so clearly need for your massive inferiority complex. |
Is this kind of nonsensical topic what someone with meaningful employment and a smidgen of self-esteem would be harping on about? Have you nothing better to do with your sad life than your endless d**k measuring with all things Yoruba? The real tragedy here is that someone should be so obsessed with the ethnicity of a far more successful person - a person who will never even register the existence of the loser OP - to the extent of opening multiple threads on the very same stupid topic. The clown of an OP couldn't broadcast the chip on his shoulder any louder even if he were to walk up and down Third Mainland Bridge carrying a billboard saying "I have a massive inferiority complex". Nobody with a healthy self-image would be constantly going to so much trouble over things those with self-pride devote no time to thinking about. I could care less which Igbo man "owns" or "controls" what, as it has zero impact on my life - but then again, I actually have a life, which is more than can be said for "Anambra's last wayward son" and his many obvious sock-puppet accounts. |
taylor89:What a lot of tribalistic rubbish! So everyone from the SE is now a saint? There are no corrupt people in Igboland? Isn't the young man who was killed one of those very northerners you so clearly despise? To think 13 bigoted nitwits actually gave a "like" to this steaming pile of dung you vomited out. I pray you and your ilk do eventually get your little landlocked enclave of a country, so we can see whether it becomes another Switzerland as you imagine, or it turns into even more of a lawless hellhole of criminality than your huge numbers of drug-dealers and ESN "unknown gunmen" have already made it. Cast the log out of your own eye before talking nonsense about "the north and their slaves"[sic]. |
dalass:Nigeria's educational system is so focused on memorization and assuming there is always one exclusive "right answer" (and only one way to get that answer) that it sucks the joy out of nearly subject, so her poor early performance is no surprise. The sort of independent mindset needed to get a PhD in mathematics is precisely the kind the average Nigerian teacher hates the most. |
onuman:This latter is the real reason why governors indulge in white elephant absurdities with impunity - the so-called "resource curse". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_curse Most states (with the exception of a handful) depend almost entirely on "federal allocations" rather than taxation for their revenues. As such, there is little incentive for their citizens to feel any personal stake in how said revenues are spent. If governors decide to squander most of their allocations on airports nobody will use, or religious buildings that do nothing to provide healthcare and clean water, nobody feels "it's my money being wasted", especially if whatever is left over is spent on paying salaries to a bloated state bureaucracy that does little of use. Instead of feeling anger, people hail such governors as "working". If state-funding were changed to a matching grant system, with the FG's grants matching state IGR on a 1-for-1 basis (rather than flat federal allocations based on population and land area), there would be a radical turnaround in attitudes, as suddenly most people would see the direct connection between the taxes they pay and the spending of their governors. However, I am doubtful this will ever happen, as the overwhelming majority of states simply aren't viable under their current setups. Take away most of those "federal allocations" derived from oil money from the SS and tax revenue from the Lagos ports, and the state count would have to collapse back to no more than, say, 9 at the very most. But everybody wants "our pikin" to have a governor's mansion and ride around in a big convoy while handing out pretend-jobs to "our kinsmen", even if that means the quality of governance they get remains abysmal. |
dgmoni123:This is a comforting lie ugly people tell themselves to cope. In fact, the opposite is true: intelligent people tend to be more attractive than the less intelligent. https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/the-scientific-fundamentalist/201012/beautiful-people-really-are-more-intelligent https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0160289610001315 https://www.spring.org.uk/2023/03/attrac-2.php I suppose I can't blame you too much for not knowing this, as few highly intelligent people would want to associate with the likes of you ... |
Savechild23:You are just as contemptible as all the savages calling this woman "ugly". None of you have anything worthwhile to add to the discussion, so you try to drag it down to your gutter level by spitting inane drivel. |
Biodun556:As if you had anything more to offer than personal insults ... Keep your fantasies to yourself, and no one will bother you with unpleasant realities in future. You can't expect to open topics on a public forum and only hear back from people willing to reinforce your daydreams. |
Biodun556:You are the troll, not me, for constantly spamming this forum with your Tom Cruise wannabe fantasies. You don't have any "ideas" to exchange in the first place, just fanboy yearning for the Nigerian government to squander hundreds of millions of USD on 5th-generation aircraft at the expense of real priorities like reducing infant mortality, providing clean water, ensuring universal primary education and other such matters you no doubt find "boring" but everyone with sense considers vital. As if a clown like you were the alpha and omega of defining what constitutes a "serious country" and what doesn't! |
Biodun556:Only for those few who are like you in fantasizing about fighter jets, even while 90% of the Nigerian government's revenue is already going towards the servicing of loans, and basics like clean water and functioning roads remain neglected. That's leaving aside your total ignorance of geopolitics, which is why you fail to understand America kicked Turkey out of the F-35 program because of Erdogan's perverse insistence on buying Russia's S-400 system instead of going to one of its NATO allies. What sort of "ally" patronizes the very country you're supposedly in alliance against? There are far more important priorities on the incoming president's plate than this particular niche obsession of yours. Who does Nigeria need such aircraft to defend itself from? Benin? Togo? Cameroon? Niger? Even Boko Haram doesn't need F-16s to combat, let alone F-35s, so please stop bothering us with your irrelevant "Top Gun" fantasies. |
Karlovych:Is that the same Awo who demanded a secession clause during pre-independence talks, only to be vehemently opposed by Azikiwe? The same Awo who was only a finance minister under Gowon, the actual head of state during the civil war? It's almost as if there were a tribalistic agenda driving your comment ... |
totit:There's no point expecting anything better from someone stupid enough to think posting random pictures proves anything about the viability of an airport. That's all the guy knows how to do, post random pictures and screenshots of tables with no context, all in a futile effort to shore up his fragile self-esteem. |
CodeTemplar:Whatever - trolls like you are why this place so badly needs a "blocking" function. You certainly have nothing to say worth reading. |
GreyLaw:Nonsensical tribalistic gibberish. Look in the mirror and you'll see the true source of the "hatred" you perceive. |
Here Peter Obi demonstrates what so many having been saying from the start of his presidential bid: more than anything else, his rabidly intolerant supporters were the ones who cost him any chance of victory, by alienating everyone who wasn't in perfect alignment with every single one of their opinions. Just compare and contrast the vicious insults and personal attacks they unleashed upon Soyinka's head with this statement by Obi in which he forthrightly acknowledges what all his ignorant and bilious supporters couldn't: that Wole Soyinka paid an unimaginably high personal cost for the Igbos during the civil war, and has more than earned his right to speak out on public affairs without fear of frothing mobs calling him every foul name in the book. |
Ghostwon82221:It's nice to know that you are more than 600 years old, and can therefore tell me at first hand where my ancestors were. Meanwhile, here's a starting counterpoint to your distorted, self-serving excuse for "history". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awori_tribe The settlement of the Awori clan is known to have preceded the establishment of Abeokuta as an Egba kingdom in 1832, as Ota, a foremost Awori kingdom's existence dated back several millenniums ago.[5]Ultimately, it doesn't matter how many lies tribalists cum historical "revisionists" like you paste on Nairaland or elsewhere, you aren't carrying Lagos anywhere, nor will it ever cease to be surrounded by other states also populated by the same Aworis, Egbas, Ijebus, Eguns, etc. No amount of wishing on your part can ever change these realities and their political consequences - as a certain Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour learned to his own cost, after having the nerve to pretend he was more of a "real Lagosian" than those of us whose ancestors have been here before Oronmiyan sent his son Eweka to begin Benin's current ruling dynasty. To that extent, even the period when Benin extracted tribute from the original Awori settlers of Lagos Island should still be considered Yoruba rulership, albeit indirectly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Benin |
Ghostwon82221:Another revisionist joker, here to tell those of us whose ancestors have been living in Lagos for 600 years that we are actually migrants because the Benin empire once extracted tolls from us. By that reckoning, all of your ancestors are nothing but slave migrants to what is still British land. The cheek of someone like you pasting such historical balderdash while calling others "tribal warriors". You are the very definition of the bigoted tribalist ready to distort any fact and tell any lie to "big up" your own kinsmen while demeaning others you fear and envy. |
Vado2:This statement is utterly worthless - even Hitler thought he was "an objective thinker". What puts the lie to your supposed "objectivity" is that you focused your entire post on Yorubas, even though most of the Yoruba comments you single out are made in mockery of the far, far more common "Igbo amaka" nonsense anytime someone of Igbo origin does anything even slightly notable anywhere in the world (except when it comes to crime, at which point the same people suddenly start insisting on "One Nigeria" thinking). You wouldn't know what objectivity looked like if it came right up to you and slapped you in the face. |
Exc2000:But this particular lawmaker had the money to buy 40 houses, even though he could only live in one of them at a time. Why couldn't he have diverted half the sum he spent on houses destined to go mostly unoccupied into either existing medical facilities or into building a new one he could have felt trustworthy enough to treat his daughter? Instead he preferred to spend lots of money on plane tickets to the UK, to bribing a doctor into violating his comments under Britain's medical codes, and to luring a penniless young man abroad to "donate" a kidney under false pretenses ... |
