IPPIS: FG begins payment of civil servants’ withheld salaries
6th December 2023
Tommy Etim
National President, Association of Senior Civil Servants, Tommy Etim

By
Deborah Tolu-Kolawole
Kindly share this story:

Civil servants whose salaries were initially withheld by the Federal Government owing to what was described as “technical glitches” and discrepancies on the platform of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System have now started receiving credit alerts of November salaries, The PUNCH reports.

Several senior civil servants confirmed the development to our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday.

The PUNCH had exclusively reported that thousands of civil servants had their November 2023 salaries withheld by the government owing to irregularities on the IPPIS.

As of Monday, November 4, 2023, sources within the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation confirmed to our correspondent that the technicalities would be resolved and the affected civil servants would start receiving their salaries.

A senior civil servant who confirmed receipt of her salary on Wednesday said, “The alert dropped a few minutes ago. I am happy to inform you that my November 2023 salary has now been paid. Same thing with others in my office.”

Another civil servant who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “It is true, we have now been paid.”

The National President, Association of Senior Civil Servants, Tommy Etim, had earlier warned that about 5,000 civil servants risked forfeiture of their November 2023 and December 2023 salaries over IPPIS verification and other discrepancies.

“As of today, only those who had earlier completed their verification exercise but were mistakenly delisted have had their salaries restored while 5,000 of civil servants still have discrepancies on their date of first appointment and dates of birth.

“A total of 2,772 have been verified and forwarded to IPPIS for payment because there were no issues. The names of 5,000 workers who have discrepancies are to be forwarded to their DHR for confirmation.

“There are six teams working tirelessly to ensure that the exercise is completed on time. It is advisable for public servants to develop the habit of checking the HOS website for regular updates. We have confirmed that the salary for the month of November 2023 is concluded, therefore, those affected will not be able to get their salary for the month of November,” Etim said.

*Salary Update*
The implementation of peculiar allowance was not factored into the 2023 Personnel budget.
In order to ameliorate the deficit on MDAs salary line. OAGF is awaiting funds from Service Wide Vote from The Ministry of Finance through Cash Management Department. That's why till now salary is yet to be paid. Hopefully this week it will be sorted out.

is a shame on all of those who called themselves leaders in this country and those who go about supporting their devilish and wicked way of leadership and governance. adding 25,000 to a low income earner making it about 50,000 in a country where a bag of rice is already 50000 plus is okay right? don't worry your their punishment and that of all those who support their evil and demonic ways will be more than what we the poor and oppressed have support from your hands. God ll prove to you all just soon that He's God. it's a matter of little time okay.... See More

Tinubu to announce new minimum wage next week
13 hours agoby Ihesiulo Grace2 min read
Tinubu
Baring last minute changes, President Bola Tinubu will announce a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers next week.

President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Festus Osifo, disclosed this while speaking on the outcome of the union’s Tuesday meeting with the federal government on the fuel subsidy removal.

Politics Nigeria recalls that the TUC had given the federal government a two-week ultimatum to address its demands or risk industrial action from workers across the country.

Speaking on ChannelsTV’s Politics Today on Tuesday evening, Osifo noted that the minister of labour, Simon Lalong, told them he had met with President Tinubu and the minister of finance, Wale Edun.

Osifo said Lalong told the union that the issue of wage had been reviewed adding that President Tinubu would speak on the matter in the coming days.

“The minister of labour told us that he had an audience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the minister of finance and had reviewed the issue of wage award. But the president asked them to fine-tune the issues before he makes the announcement,” the TUC president said.

“The minister told us all these issues would be streamlined but because the president has travelled we should give him an extra two weeks. We said no; we don’t have an extra two weeks to give. After more discussions, he said the president would make proper announcement next week.”

Osifo noted that the union had engaged the federal government on the palliatives released to states.

“We are going to monitor distribution of palliatives in states to make sure the scheme is implemented appropriately. We want to see the template of the implementation that is why we engaged the federal government on this issue. We also raised issues around taxation and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas),” the TUC president added.

But I read that the negotiation between the union and government has reached a standstill.

If the government has accepted to pay as asserted by this post, how comes that the dialogue has not yielded a consensus between the government and the union?

Career / Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by omotolanibaby(f): 7:58pm On Sep 18, 2023
Good afternoon
There's no need for any confusion. The info is actually true and correct.
a memo from the IPPIS office of the Accountant Generals Office 2 weeks ago on this, and it's actually the outcome of deliberations and negotiation between Labour and FGN on Petrol Subsidy palliative for Federal Civil servants.
The option of paying a daily palliative sum ranging between 4k to 7k was recommended by Labour to the Govt to choose from, and calculated by 22 working days of the month. The payment was to take effect from July.
From the above info, it's evident that Govt picked the sum of 5k from the options given by Labour, which will amount to N110,000 monthly and aggregates to N330,000 in arrears by this September.
From the said memo, every Federal worker will receive a flat rate irrespective of your cadre or grade level in service.
From October to December, the flat rate of 110,000 will now be the sum paid to everyone. This sum is in addition to the normal salary already being paid to workers.
It is a palliative measure to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal for Federal workers for a period of six months (July to December 2023), before the proposed new and improved salary increase for workers will commence in January 2024. # copied # how true is this

Personally, I will not advise any student that is on a budget to go to Ontario. Coupled with fact that the highest housing crisis is in Ontario. With the possibility of a cap on study visa, please if you have not applied to schools for admission. Please apply to smaller cities. Your pr will even be easier than in Ontario.

I personally don't see what people see in this Ontario. A lot of people will school there and still move to other province to be able to achieve PR. Abeg if there is gold and diamond in Ontario please let me know....
yes u are so right on this on this one.paying 2000 above for house per month.is there plenty work in Ontario than other province
