All depends on the circumstances surrounding his 'arrest'. If he was extradicted, that's in order. But It is clear he wasn't extradited. If he was kidnapped in UK, US or from any western country, Nigeria will be in for a very long thing. If he was kidnapped from neighbouring weak African countries and the country acknowledges it, then Nigeria will be violating international law with its implications. |
olatade:did UK say he violated any law? He is not recognized as a terrorist in UK and no extradition hearing was done for him. If at all UK handed him over( which is unlikely), it would be for the basis of dialogue. |
ajailer:let's be honest, if the FG are capable of kidnapping such a threat, won't they rather poison or assassinate him there than wasting time on trial in Nigeria? |
Who also noticed that words like "arrested" "extradited" and "interpol" were conspicuously ommitted in the AG's press statement. He only said KANU was "intercepted". |
thebosstrevor1:you have not proven anything. The AG didn't say he was arrested. He also didn't mention interpol or extradition. He only said he was "intercepted" through the collaborative effort of Nigeria intelligence. IPOB has also not made any official statement to acknowledge his 'arrest'. So I'll assume his presence in Nigeria has to with dialogue. |
How come the atourney general didn't say how or were they got him? Why did he also avoid using the words "arrested" "extradited" "interpol''? Instead the media are the ones saying . He only said that KANU was " intercepted through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence agencies" My wild guess is that he is here for dialogue. Well let's see events unfold. |
thebosstrevor1:it means you are guessing right? |
thebosstrevor1:can you show me any news link to your claims? |
proxillin:I already replied this in my last comment |
thebosstrevor1:UK cannot strip one of citizenship if they don't find him guilty of any crime. If they find him guilty they will conduct a public extradition hearing. None of this happened and last I checked, UK grants asylum to IPOB members. I would rather wait to get the details. |
vedaxcool:The earlier you realize that this thread is not made for people like you, the closer you are to finding peace. |
NwaNimo1:Buhari tried to crate Dikko back and failed. But yet, it caused serious diplomatic row BTW Nigeria and UK. If ever that is the case of a figure like KANU, you can rest assured it won't end well for Nigeria. |
The atourney general said he was intercepted by Nigerian intelligence service. Nothing was mentioned about where and how he was arrested. Was he kidnapped illegally and brought back? an action that can land Nigeria into serious trouble. Was he extradited? It wasn't mentioned Was he arrested while on a visit here in Nigeria? Then that's no capture. The details is more important than the headline because that will determine a lot of things. |
I THINK dialogue has already began and ceasefire on both sides is one of the conditions. |
There is little the FG can do now except dialogue. |
Who can comfirm the gunshots around the area and Inec office? |
Sima04:OK. |
Yes. There are also reports of a current shootout between the army and the UGM. |
2015 election was a standoff between North and South. As a result, people thought the outcome could lead to break-up of the country. Since the so called prophecy was made in 2014, he could be making reference to the 2015 elections. |
Femoje:'state level' |
Mistake? |
This is the story I heard from those on ground. Dialogue is the solution, if you ask me. |
businessone:You didn't answer my initial question. Was the operation to kill Ikonso worth it? |
Coronabirus:And when you deploy all those, Book haram in the north east and armed bandits in the north west would just sit down and wait for you to finish such operation before they resume? Victory is judged by how efficiently a force uses the resources at its disposal to achieve maximum result. what happened yesterday was far from victory. The army guys were rejoicing as though the Ikonso guy was Biafra himself. |
Nigerian security forces have now lost 22 men within 24 hrs since Ikonso was killed. Was the operation worth it? |
Ngeneukwuenu going berserk with her monikers. it won't help us. |
Nigerian army will be overwhelmed. This is very predictable. |
News broke yesterday of the killing of an ESN commander Ikonso and "six others". But Beneath the media sensation which expectedly followed lies the question of competence of Nigeria armed forces. It was initially reported that the ESN commander and six of his men were killed in an ESN base during a raid by the police, with the police incurring no loss. This would have been a fair win from the police to me. But later it was learnt that it was actually a combined special force operation from Army, police , DSS, Irt from Abuja that lead the ambush operation in which only two ESN men were killed and several security operatives including police and army were killed by few ESN men. The army initially denied casualty but has now admitted it lost four men . Considering the low pedigree of our armed forces when it comes to transparency, the figures could be close to ten men as claimed by people on ground, not including security officers killed during reprisals yesterday. The worrying part is that the military hierarchy are celebrating when actually they incurred more loss. Note these were almost the best guys drawn from our security agents. Note also that the killed guy has been contacted by the Governor to head the SE vigilante ebubeagu, which made his identity vulnerable to attack. If the prevailing celebration mood of our military hierarchy truly reflect their mindset despite loosing more men and risk of heavy escalation, it means they are fighting a war in which army will most likely be overwhelmed in the nearest future. |
I hpoe security operatives are prepared for a major escalation. |
explorer250:You can't get justice and equity in Nigeria. |
If election is held today in Rivers things will no longer be the same. Pdp no longer enjoys the support it had in 2015, and judiciary is no longer what it was. Sharia CJ won't give Mary odili any liverage. Even Jonathan an his wife no longer maintain a hardline stance on Rivers being a PDP state. Wike might see the rug pulled from his feet. |
