does this look like development.. or which Aba is O.P talking about?
Lagos has being far developed even before Nigeria saw its first drop of oil in 1956 and the money had always come in through trade and exports, from the slave trade to the cocoa days
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Lagos
. Lagos was nothing before it became capital over hundred yrs ago. |

Onitsha, Nnewi and Aba are the only cities in Nigeria that developed neither from its capital city status nor as an oil hub but solely from the commercial and technogical prowess of its people. |

morpheus24: The s.t.u.pidest religious and bigoted gibberish I have ever read. The person that wrote tis cannot be over 30 because it reeks of infantile thought and un-rational thought.
Love is an emotion therefore it is an emotional response to a physical, psychological and spiritutal connection one develops with another human being driven by natural hormones that enhances the experience.
Marriage is different from love, it is an institutional body created to facilitate and propagate life in a meaningful and constructive manner that helps further a societies norms.
Tribes, ethnic groups, religious beliefs, creeds, and the likes are social constructs that also help foster societies which is why they are interlinked in the choice of your marriage partner.
IF they put a black man, a white woman, a jewish man an arab muslim, a catholic Asian etc on a deserted island and left them to their own demise, they would create a brand new race, a brand new culture with brand new systems and a brand new religion that would foster their survival and existence and would " fall in love" with each other as a function of proximity and attraction.
The poster of this thread is a child and best and a blind religious I.diot at worst dude why are you unsettled? |

only a fool will think politics is a simple. Generally Anglicanism is inherently liberal and all embracing and progressive while catholicism is relatively more divisive and conservative. It follows that an Anglican can be a fanatic and yet more acceptable to his community than a catholic who is a fanatic.
let me give you an example, if you called a fanatical Anglican to lead a prayer in a Christian gathering, he'll likely start with singing a lot of hymns and making bible quotations before prayer all of which the people will have no reason to reject but a fanatical catholic will likely start with "hail mary" or any such prayer that will be greeted with resentment. it follows that Anglicanism with its liberal and progressive values plays more role in driving development than Catholicism which encourages dogma and discourages "openness". This is why developed western countries are founded on liberal/protestant and progressive values. This is also why Latin america with strong Catholic influence is still struggling to catch up despite being peopled with same Caucasians. were the US to be colonized by the Portuguese or Spain, she wouldn't be different from mexico. Checkout anywhere you have the two denominations in substantial number there are more influential people who are Anglicans-at-heart than there are Catholics, even in the US. This is also true in Anambra. find out those who put Chinweoke mbadinuju, find the person who put Ngige or obi's second tenure, you'll know the Catholic dominance is a ruse. those godfathers and politicians don't have religions in mind except obi who Changed apga to a religious party. most developed Anambra towns are dominated by anglicans. |

my only problem with the law is that it seems to violate freedom of worship by restricting the Church. The law itself is very fine. All those people mentioning human right should remember that any right that potentially deprives another person of his right to life shouldn't really be a right. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Which Church Has The Best Hymn Songs by OneNigerianist: 8:26pm On Apr 16, 2017 |
melejo: I don't know what this post aims at but I join the few matured Christmas here to vehemently condemn this topic. It is an abomination in Christian faith to compare church with church. I don't need to tell anyone that no hymn actually belongs to any church because others have explained it above. This is an irrelevant topic only pushed to front-page to join immature believers from different denominations in fight and it would not work this is not absolutely true. While it is true that many hymns are not written for a particular denomination, if you look closely u'll also see that most hymns are written by people who are actually members of some denominations like Anglican, methodist etc and their denomiational leanings in some ways influenced the hymns. Some of them are even priests and notably Anglicans. There are stories, situations and life conditions behind those hymns, that is why each stage in a church service like holy communion, each service like burial service, ordination etc or each season like trinity, lent and advent have hymns associated with them. You now see, if dont be an active member of church like Anglican, you will neither fully appreciate and utilize these hymn for your spiritual life nor even get to learn that those hymns exist. In summary, while hymn are written for all, most of them grew with some church's tradition .That is why we often say 'hymns associated with Anglicans' . Or more loosely "Anglican hymns". |

judge with these accessions educated hausas add english to their language as well. Yorubas add english in their conversation more than Igbos. Aside most traditional nollywood movies which are Igbo in culture their are many nollywood movies which are complete Igbo. Watch African magic Igbo. murmee: Which Yoruba people have English last names? Just because you know a few of them (mostly Lagosians) you now want to make it look like it is common in Yorubaland. Go to Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and you hardly see anyone with an English surname. Even in Lagos and Ogun states, it is less than 1%. Yoruba Surnames, are original family/ancestral names. you want us to come to youruba hinterland but want to judge Igbos with lagos. I pity Igbos in this thread who cant see through your ulterior motives. 1 Like |

fergie001: He is very correct.Go 2 Lagos,u go see am tire. I was a victim of that play 2 where my 1st name is English and stressed from my nursery school,my mum stressed DAT.I followed DAT up even 2 d univ. Co-incidentally,my parents were born in Lagos,my dad,Ebutte-Metta and my mum Alapere, hence they murder Yoruba just like us. It was due to advise from my dad's best friend that he had to send his sons to school in d East just to learn Igbo culture, those 5 years shaped our lives. I am running my PG in UI,I speak better Igbo,am happy about it,and made sure my native name becomes my 1st name now. If any language will go extinct 1st,it is Igbo and then maybe Urhobo(from what I heard from folks there).
PS:We all wrote Yoruba in our SSCE he said he came back from Igboland not lagos. read well. |

...Black people Worldwide have to emancipate themselves from mental shackles to the White-man....Its a herculean task, but achievable. most Igbos born from 80s till date have Igbo first name. some have started going for an all Igbo names. |

ehikwe22: The name undoubtedly started from the Bini Royal House. The Binis were the first to call us Eka until the name became very popular and stuck. This is a well-known fact. According to Eguavon, S.I. Eka (Ika) means deserters from Benin because of the bloody rule of Oba Ewuare about 1440 AD. It is said that the Binis who seized the opportunity of Oba Ewuare’s absence to flee from Benin were given this name Eka by Oba Ewuare, who on his return from one of his military campaigns, found that many of this subjects had deserted him. It was then he remarked sagaciously: So ghai Eka no. “Leave them, they are deserters”.
During this period for example, Oba Ewuare lost his only two sons, Ezuware and Ekpoboyuuwa through poisoning on the same day. To show hi grief for the death of these princes, he declared three years of mourning for them. During these years of mourning, he ordered that no one was to marry, and those who were married should not have sexual intercourse within the period. He also ordered that there should be no bathing and shaving of hair during the period. Those who were of marriageable age then fled Benin Kingdom in order no to prohibited from raising up families.
Generally, there were political and social disturbances and unrest during the period. The rulers were powerful and overbearing, and there was no known punishment that they could not mete out to offending subjects. Some were forcely charged and dealt with. Life and property were insecure in the face of political uncertainties that existed in Benin Empire. Since there was social disorder, the conditions became unbearable in Benin Empire, which resulted in migration spree of adventurous subjects.
However, on settlements in the areas now known as Ika, some of the Ika clans claim to have been formed before the movement of people from Benin and Ishan Divisions to Ika Land, and these are Agbor, Owa and Umuned clans. It may be that deserters or Ika not only swelled the population of the already existing settlements but also formed new settlements. Ika appears to have grown as a result of the influx of immigrants from Benin, Ishan and Aniocha areas of the defunct Bendel State. Ika people came to Ika Land in different waves of migration, led buy different persons from different directions at different times for different reasons.
Anioma is an Acronym. Don't be silly and Stop asking for a meaning of an Acronym in Igbo or Bini. The Acronym was coined by a pro Igbo Anioma man but we accepted because we see it as an Acronym that with good meaning having all parts of Delta North on it. you are either from edo or oza in agbor |
