I know that it is convenient to kick the can a little down the road, but our fathers did not kick it down in 1967. They rose up and faced it squarely. If we Ndigbo don't do something major, and by that I mean something with international involvement, we will likely remain slaves in Nigeria for another 50 years. Onye obula gwa onwe ya eziokwu o! |
@topic I really think that there is a hidden conspiratorial vow somewhere to do everything possible to deny us our fair share in the Nigerian jungle. The same thing is happening to Enugu airport. Has anyone seen the level of work at that airport recently? If you have, please try to post pictures here. I have come in contact with some information that shows that if we Ndigbo don't do something major, and by that I mean something with international involvement, we will likely remain slaves in Nigeria for another 50 years. Umu Igbo, mepe nu anya o! |
@Bliss4Lyfe Just ignore BootyOnMe. Don't descend to its gutter level. It is one of the Nigerian demons hounding folks with clear head. It comes from a section of Nigeria that is intrinsically and inherently cursed and backward. |
@manny4life You are an intelligent dude though new here (politics section) somehow; so I feel a need to advise you with the hope that I save you from being grouped with known morons and freaking baboons of NL. IGNORE Eko-ole, and Bluemonkey. You can't teach them anything, unless you've ever owned their type of specie as pet at home. |
I have always advised my Igbo brothers to be united in everything they seek in Nigeria. Look at how just this Anambra members of the house are making solid claims to the Eastern fair share in Nigeria. I'm proud of them. Anyi ji fa agala! |
Second Niger Bridge: Anambra Assembly battles FG over PPP From EMMANUEL UZOR, Onitsha Monday, November 07, 2011 The proposed second bridge across the River Niger may be experiencing another setback as members of the National Assembly from Anambra State, under the aegis of Anambra State National Assembly caucus said they would resist the plan to execute the project under Public Private Partnership, (PPP). Speaking to journalists yesterday in Atani during Afam Ogene football competition, the leader of the Anambra caucus and member representing Anaocha/Dunukofia/Njikoka Federal Constituency, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife said they would resist the plan. According to Ekwunife, they saw the plan to execute the second Niger Bridge under PPP as one of the plots to delay the construction of the most needed bridge across the River Niger, which she said was the only entrance into South-east. “That was one of the promises Mr. President made to the South east during his electioneering campaign and I can tell you that he is keeping to the promise but some of us in the National Assembly from the South- east are going to ensure that the second Niger Bridge is built by the Federal Government and not PPP.” “We object to that PPP, we are going to reject it, we are going to object to it with whatever it is going to take to reject it. Federal Government must come out to give us second Niger Bridge. They did similar thing in other zones and those projects were not done under PPP and that of the second Niger Bridge cannot be done by PPP. We are going to reject that.” On the unity of the legislators from Anambra State, Ekwunife said they had been united by the fact that they were representing the interests of their constituents at the National Assembly irrespective of party affiliation. “We are working together, we are working like a family, especially members from Anambra State. There is no division; you will not even know that all of us are not from the same political party. Anambra is our interest as well as South-east and Nigeria at large.” Also speaking, the member representing Ogbaru in the House of Representatives, Mr Afam Ogene, who organized a football competition for his constituency said he was touched by the present condition of sports in the country, http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/nov/07/national-07-11-2011-010.html |
@EzeUche I used harsh words on Abia state to show how angry I am at the state's policy to drive away other Igbos from their jobs thereby denying them gratuity and pensions. That action is as bad is it gets, and no one can ever convince me that Orji alone is responsible. He is one man. He has advisers and technocrats working for him. They should have called him to order. They kept quiet. I wonder why this action wasn't done 12 years ago or more when they allege Enugu did the same. My angst is WHY NOW? When are we ever going to consider our group interest before some stupid local interest? If I am more concerned with checking my brother, what if a neighbor comes to kill both me and my brother while I was busy at it? Nna, I have since moved on. Onye obula cheta na anyi bu umunne. That's all. |
lol semi-literate foools all over this thread $hitting their pants over a valid point made by Rochas. We have been bowing to you thieves for 43 years! If we get our acts together, that will stop. Freaking mo-rons. |
Anyway, it is better to ignore people who have nothing to say than pull down candidates who can lift Nigeria. I saw first hand how Soludo tried his best to implement his vision for the Naira. He was severally undermined by the upper levels of government above him. What he wanted was a Nigeria that would become the economic powerhouse of Africa. If he had authority to fix power supply and roads, he could has done it as CBN governor. Yes he was that ambitious and determined. Well, he was only the CBN governor! In a Soludo presidency, I would guess that he'd make Nigeria the dominant country in terms of SPECIFIC global economic sphere. It may be manufacturing, engineering, agriculture or even mere services like outsourcing (IT, finance etc). Under Soludo, Nigeria can become a global power in 8 years! Yes the man is that ambitious! And he is intelligent enough to figure out a way to pull it off. Only such a huge move can keep Nigerians busy working and pursuing that dream, than have time for Boko Haram and secession. Other Nigerians might come and start building roads. Well, that is good, but not big enough. We need a HUGE national ambition and challenge, and only Soludo thinks that way for now, and he has held a sensitive position to know all the economic angles to the solution. I hope you now see why I endorse him powerfully. |
@lagcity I have been around Nigeria too many times and watched as they found a "qualified northerner" to run one sensitive post or another only for him/her to fail woefully. It has happened for at least 30 years. So what are you talking about? I can tell you that Obasanjo started the idea of a national ID card in 1979. It was stopped by Northerners after him. It stayed dead until he returned in 1999. They still fought against it so hard but Obasanjo prevailed this time. That is a national institution now even if not perfect yet. There are many more like that. Show me one national institution envisioned and implemented by a Northern president. |
lol lagcity cannot fault Soludo or my strong endorsement of his candidature, so he resorts to argumentum ad hominem, calling me names. If the SE keeps quiet, the same type of Nigerians would hypocritical ask why the SE is not putting forward someone or making a strong case for one of their own. Quite laughable. Imagine lagcity calling me an extremist. For your information dude, I am not holding any public office in Nigeria. I am an ordinary folk and I am entitled to my opinions. They are constitutionally protected. |
Posted by: ekt_bear Long story short, by any means necessary, Northerners must be blocked from the presidency of Nigeria in 2015. Either the FG must be weakened so much that the position is worthless (including Nigeria splitting apart), or there should be a consensus on someone else.I totally agree. David Marks candidacy sucks to high heavens. The man is part of the CORE of Nigeria's backwardness. He has achieved NOTHING as senate president. |
Posted by: Katsumoto Are you saying that Soludo's friends would be different as president from if he were governor even if he is in the same party (PDP)? If Soludo surrounds himself with the finest as president, why can he not do it as governor of Anambra? This is quite funny.lol I thought you were following my drift. PDP dictates through Uba brothers in Anambra state. The PDP governor is under them. Anything that is against their interest in Anambra state, is against PDP interest and vice versa. All these are thanks to OBJ's romance with Andy Uba. A Nigerian president is the top dog. Gerrit now? |
@ekt_bear I completely agree. But I'm really looking for that individual that can inspire the whole country to greatness. You and I are tired of mediocrity. In fact I'm sick of it! |
Posted by: Katsumoto If you concede that the Ubas in Anambra were empowered by a corrupt government in Abuja, why would PDP at the centre be different from PDP in Anambra or anywhere else? Were the ubas not working for OBJ? Was Soludo not still hobnobbing with Atiku, one of the greatest thieves in the history of thieving, earlier on this year? I only mention that to highlight my point - Soludo as governor or president would have still being sorrounded by the same motley crew.Show me Prof Wole Soyinka's friends and crew men, and inside it, you would likely find Chinua Achebe and Ben Okri. Birds of the same feather flock and fly together. Soludo is not a thug and would likely surround himself with Nigeria's finest. No doubt about that. |
Of course Abuja |
An Anambra PDP govenor was kidnapped. Tell me, who can kidnap a PDP Nigerian president in Nigeria? |
Posted by: Katsumoto Was Ngige in ACN in 2009? Quit this line of reasoning. why would a PDP governor in Anambra be different from a PDP president? Are you suggesting that Anambra is the only state with corrupt people in Nigeria? Are there more corrupt power brokers in Anambra than in other states?Of course he was. As for Anambra, you don't understand, my friend. The state was "kidnapped" by PDP for sometime. Let's just not discuss that here. |
And by "borrow a leaf from Ngige", I meant dump or ditch the Uba brothers (like Ngige) after being sworn in. I hope I'm clear about that now. |
Anambra state under a PDP governor would not be the same as Nigeria under a PDP president. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Imagine I was even willing to accept Ngige (an ACN candidate) at state level! My fear was that a PDP governor would bring back the days of the Uba brothers who BTW still own PDP in Anambra state. Is it clear enough now? |
Posted by: Katsumoto As usual you change your tune.Katsumoto please rise to your true level of intelligence. I have never (you can research this) said that Soludo would not make a great governor. I (as an Anambra man) had serious problem with PDP at state and local level. If he had good advisers, they would have advised him to run on the platform of some obscure party like Accord party or whatever. He would have given Obi a run for his money, and I would have supported him then. The party (PDP) caused a lot of damage to our state at local level. But at national level, it is a different ball game because some of the best Nigerian human resources are in PDP. That is just the whole truth. |
I am really only saying that Soludo is the only leader I've seen at the center of Nigeria that fully understands our true potential as a nation. He proved it once he articulated the problem of the North amongst other things he did. If Soludo did not create the vision for our banking system, there would be nothing for anyone to "fix" or "correct" as Sanusi is trying to do (to discredit him), because the whole banking system would have collapsed much earlier. His consolidation was a clear demonstration of genius. Because a lot of politics was deployed by his successor, there is no way to know whether there was even a systemic problem or not. But let us focus of who can lead Nigeria. I believe that man is Soludo. He is unequaled and unrivaled. The governors have never envisaged the potentials (using national statistics) of the Nigerian nation. FACT. |
In fact let me just say that both Fashola and Akpabio don't have national visions and clout to upstage Soludo IMHO. If either of them has ever held a national post, then you would have a point. |
