PoliticsComrade Iche Stages A One-man Protest In Compulsory 24-hour Starvation To Challe by onochurch(op): 4:45pm On Jun 26, 2024
Comrade Iche stages a one-man protest in compulsory 24-hour starvation to challenge the government's nonchalance over the plight of Nigerians

By Onome Naomi

Considering the situation currently plaguing Nigeria and Nigerians, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, a human rights activist and founder of the Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation ("AMPEF"wink, embarked on a one-man protest in 24 hours of compulsory starvation to advocate for the masses over the hike in the price of essential commodities.

Iche said this present government has shown nonchalance over the plight of Nigerians who can barely feed; some are compulsorily prone to starvation, while a few others can only afford to feed their families with one square meal a day for sustenance. This, he says, is a result of a hike in the prices of commodities made seemingly unaffordable due to the downturn in the economy and mismanagement of the country's resources by those in government.

In comparison, Iche explained that the prices of food and sustainable goods between yesteryear and now is marginally wide, as fruits, vegetables, food stuffs, grains, beverages, and other edibles have become 10 times more expensive. This is considered detrimental to Nigerians' living expenses.

In reference to the recent strike proclaimed by the NLC, Iche noted that the essence was meant to cushion the effect of hardship plaging Nigerians. An increase over the previously stipulated minimum wage would enable Nigerians cope with the high cost of feeding their families due to inflation.

Iche urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give Nigerians hope by critically looking into the dire situation of the hike in food prices, acknowledged as the last hope of the common man. He also noted that those in charge of the various administrative offices nominated to oversee the inflow and cultivation of food items should have their appointments terminated if no solvent decision is taken over the present crisis. He says he presumes the President is unaware of this very critical condition Nigerians are facing in the hands of incompetent appointees.

The government should implement policies that can cushion the effect of hardship by appointing representatives that can offer viable solutions to the hardships faced by suffering Nigerians, not self-centred leaders. More also, the giant of Africa (Nigeria) is becoming a shadow of itself with the recent economic situation, Iche added.

According to Iche, he led an open street protest after thoughtfully accessing the almost unstoppable turn of events caused by food inflation and food insecurity, which gradually became starvation and hopelessness for Nigerians. Urge Nigerians to pray for the president to imbibe himself with discernment to make the right decisions for peace and progress in the nation. Advise the present administration to overhaul certain offices occupied by appointees in the arms of government to discourage corrupt practices, including the misappropriation of public funds.

LIFE celebrates "The Day of the African Child" by sensitizing students from colleges on GBV

In observance of "The Day of the African Child," LIFE raises awareness among students on GBV

By Onome Naomi

Leadership Initiative for Youth Empowerment continued campaign and sensitization of youths on GBV recently hosted students from seven colleges in commemoration of "The Day of the African Child,"  held on June 21, 2024, in a bid to promote awareness on gender-based violence and protection laws guiding survivors in Lagos.

The Lagos State Domestic Violence Law was established in 2007 and is aimed at allowing children the right to justice against abuses of various forms.

About seven schools in Lagos were educated on the various abuses stemming from GBV and the protection laws guiding survivors against abusers. The list of schools that participated includes:
Ajumoni Senior Grammar School, Okota Grammar School, Okota Senior High School, Jaimurie College, Ijeshatedo Senior Grammar School, Central Senior Grammar School, Okota Senior Secondary School...

The sensitization programme commenced with a brief history on why a day is set aside to assert the rights of the African child. He noted that "The Day of the African Child," observed on June 16th of every year, raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement in the education provided to African children. The challenges and opportunities facing the full realisation of the rights of children in Africa, in reference to the June 16, 1976, incident that claimed the lives of hundreds of students in Soweto, South Africa, is a wake-up call to remind the world that African children also have rights to freedom of expression.

The Executive Director of LIFE, Abiodun Rufus, enlightened the students on the impact of GBV on individuals (students) and the community. She said;

"GBV stands for gender-based violence, and it is targeted at the weaker vessel. The act of GBV is common in today's society, but many are not aware it is an act of abuse that should be discouraged in the family or community."

"Sexual violence, economic violence, physical violence, emotional abuse, psychological violence, domestic violence, assault, and others can generally affect the educational performance and overall wellbeing of a child, leading to mental instability and underdevelopment."

"Many countries in Africa create perfectual communities where men dominate the family and wield all the power. There is a need to promote gender equality and equity as one way of stopping GBV."

"Most importantly, a legal framework to support survivors of GBV with a holistic approach should be established. People need access to counselling and legal support. Education and awareness are also important to curb the excesses portrayed by GBV. It is our responsibility as individuals or organisations to vanquish GBV."

In addition, Abiodun noted that GBV is a global issue, as world leaders also discuss solutions. Stereotyping and limiting both genders to a particular role or job should be abolished. Individuals should serve as mandated reporters of GBV in the community. Also, enlighten others that there are authorities established to address such acts. LIFE, she says, provides access to counselling to help subdue the negative impact of GBV on survivors, amongst other support services rendered.

Laura, crisis care coordinator of LIFE in commemoration of "The Day of the African Child," educated the students on recognising the signs of trauma and mental health issues amongst youths. In her words,

"Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which
affects how we think, feel, and act, while mental illness covers a wide spectrum.
ranging from: long-term worrying, anxiety
Stress, self-harm, and suicide. Mental health and mental illness Health can sometimes refer to mood disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and
anxiety disorder."

"Childhood trauma (physical and sexual abuse), especially in a repetitive form, is detrimental to the mental health of a child. Other states of mental health involving stress, academic pressure, trauma in the environment, and relationships can also affect our mental health adversely."

"We can help our own mental health by means of a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), which exposes survivors to the causes and effects of our mental health by identifying triggers, creating coping skills, and providing a support network."

"The steps to take when there is a breakdown in mental health are; to ask for support, create a safe space, practice coping skills, and review a wellness recovery action plan.

Mental health is one's state of mind. Domestic violence is not normal, but when a child gets disciplined for an irresponsible act, it's normal. For sexual violence, society blames the affected rather than helping, a very wrong approach that affects the child while they are growing up. Any child who needs help should not be afraid to speak up and ask for it. Laura educates and advises students.

The highlight of the Day of the African Child event created by LIFE is the quiz on current affairs delivered by Muoghalu Bunmi (Communication Officer), debate on the topic: Does domestic violence have any negative impact on the mental health of children? orchestrated by Oge Stephen (programme officer) and a drama presentation promoting gender equality directed by Oluwatoyin Mokwe (monitoring and evaluation officer) and LIFE volunteers with participants from the various schools.

The ABCs of Back Up: A Guide to Help Protect Your Data by Ghassan Azzi, Sales Director for Africa at Western Digital

Posted by Naomisophyblog

The exponential growth of digital data has fundamentally reshaped our lives. For instance, today most of us own a smartphone and we are constantly online – be it for uploading moments to social media, browsing through the internet, or consuming content. From irreplaceable personal photos, videos, and documents to our professional endeavours, our dependence on digital data has become absolute. However, this dependence introduces a critical vulnerability: the potential for data loss.

Hardware malfunctions, accidental deletions, and the ever-present threat of cyberattacks all pose a significant risk to the integrity of our digital assets. In this context, data backup becomes crucial for ensuring the security and accessibility of our digital lives.

The consequences of data loss can be far-reaching. Imagine the devastation of losing cherished family photos, a critical document vanishing into the digital ether, or the professional setback of irretrievable work files. Data backup serves as a vital safeguard against these potential disasters, offering a reliable means of data recovery.

Help Protect Your Digital Foundation: Beyond Disaster Recovery

The benefits of data backup extend far beyond disaster recovery. It cultivates feelings of security and empowerment, enabling us to confidently adopt new technologies.

Data backup empowers individuals to leverage the full potential of the digital world without fear of losing their digital footprint, knowing that a fail-safe mechanism exists to safeguard their invaluable information. In fact, as per Western Digital’s study, 54% of people have shown willingness to back up their data partially in the future1.

Implementing a Data Backup Strategy: A Framework for Success
Creating a robust data backup strategy may seem daunting, but with automated backup option this process can become easy. It all begins with understanding the lay of the digital landscape. Identifying what truly matters - the heartwarming family photos, the crucial documents, the treasured memories - allows us to prioritize our efforts effectively.

Once we have understood the significance of our data, the next step is choosing the right tools for the job. It's not just about finding any backup solution; it is about finding the one that fits seamlessly into our lives. We must consider not only the volume and accessibility of our data but also its scalability and budgetary constraints.

Consider, for instance, the 3-2-1 strategy - a gold standard in data backup that is recommended by Western Digital - the strategy suggests having three total copies of data, on two different types of media, with one stored off-site for added security. It's a simple yet powerful concept that ensures our digital assets remain safe from harm's way. Take, for example, our photos and videos. The original files, our first copy, reside on our trusted storage device, like the reliable My Book™ from WD®. Then comes the second copy, safeguarded on a different medium, such as the lightning-fast SanDisk Extreme® Portable SSD V2. And finally, for that extra layer of protection, the third copy finds its home in the cloud, accessible from anywhere, anytime.

These storage solutions are not just impressive; they are the guardians of our digital security. Whether it's the expansive storage capacity of the My Book from WD, the portability and speed of the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V2, or the remote accessibility of cloud storage, each serves as a strong defense against digital uncertainties.

In today's interconnected world, data backup isn't merely a precaution; it is an investment in our digital well-being. It is the assurance that our digital footprint remains intact and accessible, no matter what the future holds. Let us embrace the power of data backup – not just as a technicality, but as a testament to our commitment to safeguarding what truly matters.

CrimeCommissioner Of Police Lagos State, CP Adegoke Fayoade Meets With Igbo Tradition by onochurch(op): 7:15am On Jun 15, 2024
Commissioner of Police Lagos state, CP Adegoke Fayoade meets with Igbo traditional leaders to foster security in the state

...As Igbo-speaking Community leaders synergize with the Nigerian Police to foster security in Lagos

By Onome Naomi

Igbo traditional leaders in Lagos paid a courtesy visit to the office of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, on June 14, 2024, to pledge their support to curb crime and criminality in the state.

The move was made by Igbo leaders consisting of 'Ezes' in Lagos to synergize with the police in a bid to promote security in the state and foster cordial relationships by familiarising themselves with CP Adegoke Fayoade, Police Commissioner of Lagos State.

Igbo traditional rulers who attended the solidarity conference with CP Adegoke Fayoade include Chief Sunday Udeh, president of the Igbo-speaking community in Lagos, Eze Dr. CC Nwokedi, Eze Ndigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, Chairman Council of Ndieze Igbo Lagos, Eze Amb. Dr. Ferdinand Aguneke, Esq. Eze Ndigbo Eredo LCDA, Epe, Gen. Secretary Council of Ndieze Lagos, Eze Charles Emesim, Eze Ndigbo Oke Afa/Ejigbo LCDA, Treasurer Council of Ndieze Lagos, Eze Uche Omeiheoma, Eze Ndigbo Lekki LCDA, welfare officer council of Ndieze Lagos, Eze John Nwoche, Eze Ndigbo Ojodu, ex-officio council of Ndieze Lagos, Eze Stephen Agabiga, Eze Ndigbo Bariga, Eze Emeka Onuoha, and Eze Ndigbo Igbo-Elerin Eze E. Chukwukadibia, Eze Ndigbo Oriade, Eze Chukwuakalika Emmanuel, Eze Ndigbo Oriade, and Eze Justice Enujuba Eze Ndigbo Apapa, Eze Ifeanyi Nwagwu, Eze Ndigbo Kosofe, Chief Engr. Chukwuka Odimegwu, Secretary General of the Igbo-speaking community in Lagos, and others...

Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, Chairman Council of 'Ndieze' appreciated the presence of the Commissioner of Police for recognising the value of Igbo leaders in Lagos State, which has served as a prompter to convene a conference as observed.

During the introduction of traditional leaders in attendance at the tet-a-tet discussion with CP Adegoke Fayoade, the Secretary of the Council of Ezes in Lagos State Eze Amb. Dr. Ferdinand Aguneke, Esq. noted that the Igbo leaders in attendance were delighted to meet with the CP to discuss security matters, for he is a detribalized Nigerian by virtue.

Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Adegoke Fayoade, in his speech, appreciated the chairman of the council of 'Ndi Ezes' in Lagos, HRH Dr. Chika Nwokedi, for coordinating the convergence of the meeting, as he also appreciated the Igbo traditional rulers in attendance. He says that in solidarity and unity, regardless of tribal differences, everyone should focus on creating a good society, especially by promoting security in the state.

The CP noted that his career as a police officer started in Aba, revealing that his experience has led him to understand that the easterners are welcoming and accommodating with no form of discrimination, irrespective of tribal differences. Hence, it is imperative to recognise that the Igbos are known for their hard work and have contributed so much to the progress of the country.

According to CP Adegoke Fayoade, a crime- and criminality-free state is beneficial to indigens and non-indigene of the state. He urged Igbo leaders to be proactive by giving viable information about criminal elements in their immediate and business environs in synergy with the police, for all tip-offs will be treated as confidential. The police, he says, might not be able to reach out to all the nooks and crannies in Lagos, but as traditional leaders, a collaboration to promote security will decrease the spate of crime and criminality in the state. Criminal elements will be forced to relocate as they do not want to be caught.

The CP, in conclusion, commended the royal highnesses for their readiness to team up with the police by giving discreet information to rid the state of crime, which will aid economic activities without fear of insecurity. Buying and selling will improve, and enterprises will expand when the area is free of criminal elements. Pledges support and utmost cooperation with Igbo traditional leaders in Lagos.

HRH Dr Chika Nwokedi, the chairman of the council of 'Ndieze' in Lagos, commended the CP for showing solidarity with Igbo leaders as he enlightened on matters traditional rulers can handle, which include civil matters and humanitarian services, not criminal issues. Advises Igbo leaders to support the Nigerian Police, especially those in their jurisdiction of reign, such as the Divisional Police Officers, Area commanders and Commissioner of Police to ease policing.

Eze Chika also urged 'Ezes' to ensure security in their areas of leadership by reporting criminal acts of persons suspected of breaching the law. He particularly warned that airing Igbo leaders should not misuse the opportunity of the meeting with the CP to commit atrocities and call for a cover-up. He described the act as an insult to the office of the commissioner of police, and as such, airing leaders should be apprehended and charged accordingly. Implore CP Adegoke Fayoade to investigate when matters of Ezes are reported; some issues reported, he says, are fabricated or blown out of proportion.

The President of the Igbo-speaking community, Chief Sunday Udeh, congratulated CP Adegoke Fayoade on his appointment as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State. In a congratulatory letter, Chief Udeh stated that Ndigbo spread across the 57 local governments in Lagos appreciate CP Adegoke Fayoade's service to humanity.

CrimeIjeododo Community Protest Land Grabber Invasion, Urge Federal Gov't Interventio by onochurch(op): 2:56pm On Jun 07, 2024
Ijeododo community protest land grabber invasion, urge federal gov't intervention

...The Ijeododo community laments as land grabbers disguise FHA to demolish landed properties worth billions of naira.

By Onome Naomi

The Ijeododo community laments over some unknown developer under the guise of the Federal Housing Authority named "New Festac Development Property" to demolish and seize individual lands and properties worth billions of naira.

Subsequently, reports have it that the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association of Nigeria, an Igbo association that acquired vast land for its members to build on about 5 years ago, had a rude awakening on the morning of Thursday, March 24, 2024, that a demolition is being orchestrated by FHA on some already-erected structures on their lands.

Further investigation into the matter led the group to approach the baale of Ijeododo, High Chief Abu Jelili Ayinde Ododo, who denied knowing the reason for FHA's demolition plan. Initially, the land was sold to the Igbo association by the baale and cleared of all hindrances that could arise in the future, such as demolition or grabbing, with receipts and necessary documentation to back up the land purchase legitimately.

The Federal Housing Authority, in response to the demolition orchestrated in Ijeododo, declined responsibility for the said act, which led the affected persons to implore an inquest into the matter at hand. Information from findings by the association shows that FHA had no hand in the demolition but an external development company called "New Festac Development Property" known as ruthless land grabbers who go about with firearms and ammunition with the aim to maim any unwilling individual not ready to part with land or property of interest.

Speaking with High Chief Abu Jelili, the baale of Ijeododo, on the arising issues with demolition in his jurisdiction of reign, he said he is amazed at the demolition allegedly carried out by FHA, for such incidents have never happened in the history of the Ijeododo community. He revealed that steps taken to further make findings on why demolition was carried out in Ijeododo show that FHA was not involved but a developing company known as New Festac Development Property. Petitions against the marauders at Zone 2 is still an open case as the perpetrators didn't show up; they have remained faceless but will only reappear on people's lands with guns and weapons to terrorise land owners at very vulnerable times, he added.

Ododo Musa, the secretary of the Ododo family, made statements in accordance with Baales' summation. He also revealed that the land grabbers perpetrate their acts with the use of force carried out by the Nigerian Police Task Force to shoot and harass people. Seeks government's intervention before the issue escalates.

CrimeAMPEF Seeks IGP Intervention Over Police Inspector Unjustly Facing An Orderly Tr by onochurch(op): 8:26pm On Jun 04, 2024
AMPEF seeks IGP intervention over Police Inspector unjustly facing an orderly trial in FHQ Abuja for decisions made by her former DPO and OC.

By Onome Naomi

An Inspector of Police, Insp. Amoo Oyeyemi of the FSU Igando Police Division, is being punished and traumatised at the FHQ Abuja over the decision of her former, now-retired DPO, CSP Ekeinde, and OC Family Support Unit, DSP Felicia Akindele, to release a paedophile who allegedly sexually violated his then 8-year-old stepdaughter.

Subsequently, a case of defilement was reported at the Igando police station, FSU. On October 26, 2023, a complainant named Mrs. Ajike Bolanle Agnes. According to her, the biological mother of the victim, who's abroad in the United States, asked her to check up on her daughter, sensing all wasn't right between the kid and her stepfather. Mrs. Ajike visited the home where the stepfather and daughter stay and examined the child and her private area (the vagina), only to discover that the survivor had been dis-virgined by her stepfather after some interrogations.

Mrs. Ajike then reported her findings at the FSU department of the Igando police division that a child has been defiled by her stepdad. The violation began in 2019, when the victim was just 8 years old, and continued until 2023, when she attained 12 years of age, before the discovery that led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator. The survivor was immediately referred for a medical examination at SARC ALIMOSHO.

Meanwhile, the IPO of the case, which's facing trial, unjustly narrated that the suspect, KINGSLEY AGUNBIADE, denied the allegation but was detained as the law demands. The perpetrator was detained on Friday and was charged to court on Monday, but the court didn't sit for sessions until Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Inspector Amoo said that when she resumed work, she found out that the suspect had been released by the former DPO, CSP Ekeinde, who is now retired, and the OC Family Support Unit, DSP Felicia Akindele, with claims that the suspect fell ill in detention and was released to his elder brother for medical treatment at the Alimosho General Hospital. This was done without her knowledge, and she couldn't challenge her superiors but only hoped the suspect would return or face a rearrest.

Amoo stated that both suspect and surety didn't return to the station; as such, a tracker was initiated, which led to the arrest of the surety, who was then charged to court on March 7, 2024, awaiting trial for May 6, 2024.

Amoo noted that all efforts made to make sure justice was served were futile, as the complaint remained unsatisfied. The complainant then petitioned her 'Insp. Amoo' to SCID Panti at the D10 unit. Thereafter, Amoo was invited to the provost office at Force HQ Abuja, where she was detained for 10 days by DCP Hope Okafor (the provost) on May 22, 2023. It reveals she is currently facing an orderly room trial, with several threats from the provost to dismiss or de-rank her.

To this effect, the Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation (AMPEF), a human rights body known for its struggle against inhumanity, is saying:

"It is disappointing that a police officer who is upright and outstanding in her line of duty is being tormented."

"Lagos State is about to lose one of its capable, experienced officers for her excellent decisions in human rights activities, especially in sensitive cases involving children and family matters. (sexual and gender-based violence)."

"We do not understand the interest of DCP Hope OKAFOR in a matter that's already in court."

The AMPEF body revealed via a reliable source that the complainant had been living in DCP BASSEY EWE's apartment in a joint effort to humiliate IPO Insp. Amoo Oyeyemi.

AMPEF seeks the intervention of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, in the case of Insp. Amoo Oyeyemi, for her diligence in delivering her delegated duties uprightly and never perverting justice.

State of the Nation: Human Rights Group Evaluates President Tinubu's One Year in Office

By Onome Naomi

Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation (AMPEF), in collaboration with Know Your Rights for Justice (KnoRights), converge to discuss the state of the nation as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks one year in office on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024.

The conference attended by the Human Rights Group and members of the public is centred on the theme: Is Nigeria a failed state? This was created to evaluate President Tinubu's one year of administration since his inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.

The human rights contributors shed light on the causes of the overwhelming inflation and hardship inflicted on Nigerians, which they say are due to stringent policies and non-knowledgeable appointees by the president to sensitive areas of the government, leading to an outright economic downturn.

The President of AMPEF, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, emphasised in his opening remarks the root cause of Nigeria's retrogressive situation, which he says bothers on the maladministration in Tinubu's government as well as inherited unaddressed lingering situations from previous governments.

The first speaker, Comrade Olusegun Adeeko, the president of Know Your Right for Justice (KnoRights), summarised that Nigeria is a completely failed state, says a country with no good roads, inadequate power supply, food inflation, insecurity, a surge in fuel prices, and so on, has failed her citizens. In addition, Olusegun made reference to the constitution, saying the primary focus of a government is welfare and security, and any government that fails to provide these is a failed government.

Olusegun reiterated the words of Mr. President; he said, "Tinubu, according to his words, said that if in his 4-year tenure there is no stable security, Nigerians should not vote for him in the next election. We will hold him to his words," he noted.

The second speaker, Comrade Solomon Neye, lays emphasis on the basic salaries of workers and says it is slavery for a family to survive on N60,000 monthly salaries as proposed by the government plus the rise in cost of food, transportation, and other household bills, which include children's school fees. Security is at its poorest; the government has embezzlers, yet the prison is for the poor man who has to struggle to survive. Nigerians must speak in one voice to end the already-heating menace engulfing the country, he added.

The third speaker, Comrade Daniel Oguine from CDHR, expressed despondency over Nigeria's plight. He said the previous government of Muhammadu Buhari failed in his administration, and the present government followed suit by instilling further hardship on already suffering Nigerians as Tinubu prioritised his cabinet over the masses. Shettima says N15 billion is an outrageous amount budgeted to buy new cars for commissioners as well as the budget for Shettima's new office. He also noted that old projects are abandoned while new projects spring up and will remain uncompleted as usual, leaving a burden of inheritance for the next government.

The 4th Speaker, Comrade John Ezenwan, Lagos Coordinator for AMPEF, stated that the value of the naira will remain valueless as Nigerians consume more from importation and not produce for exportation. The N60,000 minimum wage, he says, cannot sustain families and should be reviewed.

Comrade Iche, the convener of the Congress, establishes that many human rights leaders have sold their consciences and, however, find it difficult to confront the government on sensitive, bothersome issues overriding good governance in the country. In conclusion, Iche said It is paramount to note that the solution to Nigeria's many problems is a careful deliberation on matters arising and the proffering of effective solutions, which are:

*That all the members of Tinubu's cabinet should be replaced with the right appointees who can make reasonable contributions to the growth of the economy.

*Appointment should be based on area of specialisation and progress monitored to ensure accountability.

Nigerian woman flee from her home country to stay alive

By Naomi Onome

Nigerian national and mother identified as Damilola Adefemi Salihu has fled her home country after facing severe religious oppression following her conversion from Islam to Christianity. Her decision to change her faith was a personal and deeply considered matter of conscience. However, once her conversion became known within her community, she began experiencing threats, intimidation, sustained hostility and domestic violence .
She added that threats include being asked to convert back to Islam or face severe punishment, disinheritance.

The situation escalated to the point where she feared for her safety and her life, leaving her with no choice but to flee from Nigeria. Her case arises within a broader context of ongoing violence and threats directed at christian communities in Nigeria. Since the the islamist Boko Haram insurgency began in 2009, jihadist and militant activity in Nigeria has had a devastating human and social cost:According to human rights reporting, up to 185,000 people have been killed in violence related to Islamist extremist attacks and associated conflict dynamics since 2009, including more than 125,000 Christians. In recent years, some reports indicate that in the first 220 days of 2025 alone, over 7,000 Christians were killed, an average of more than 30 Christian deaths per day.Militant groups and associated armed actors have been linked to the destruction, desecration, or forced closure of an estimated 19,100 churches since 2009—averaging roughly 1,200 churches destroyed each year (about 100 per month, or 3+ per day).Thousands of Christians —including women, children, and pastors—have been abducted by extremist groups. Some figures report over 7,800 Christian abductions in 2025 alone.Millions of Nigerians, many from Christian communities in affected regions, have been forced to flee their homes; tens of thousands of villages and settlements have experienced raids, killings, and forced displacement. These figures reflect the severity of the security crisis in parts of northern and central Nigeria, where extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), along with allied armed factions, have been active and where communities are often left vulnerable. The United States of America has acknowledged the severity of religious freedom violations in Nigeria by designating it as a “Country of Particular Concern” under its International Religious Freedom framework, citing serious violations, including violence against religious communities and attacks on churches. The United States has also provided military assistance and training support to Nigerian security forces to help address insurgency and terrorism.Additionally, members of the United States Congress have proposed legislation aimed at formally naming and designating certain Islamic extremist organizations and their alleged sponsors, as part of broader efforts to combat terrorism and hold accountable those responsible for religiously motivated violence.Despite international attention and security cooperation, individuals—particularly religious converts—remain at risk at the community level, where social and familial pressures can be severe and violent retaliation is a real threat. For converts like Ruth, the risk is immediate and personal, involving community rejection, credible threats of harm, and systemic inability to live openly according to her conscience.Freedom of thought, conscience, and religion—including the right to change one’s religion—is a fundamental human right recognized under international law.

PoliticsNigeria Is Struggling, Tinubu's Govt Performance Unsatisfactory - Ewenla by onochurch(op): 9:02am On May 27, 2024
Nigeria is struggling, Tinubu's govt performance unsatisfactory - Ewenla

 By Ifeoma Ikem

A chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Alimosho, Lagos State, and a member of the state's disciplinary committee, Prince (Dr) Adedipe Ewenla, NiL DiL Bsc Msc, has given a scorecard of the performance of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration on its first anniversary in power.

Amb. Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, in a press release signed and made available to this medium, expressed his disappointment and concern over the state of the nation, citing insecurity, economic challenges, fuel scarcity, educational failure, and mismanagement of funds as some of the pressing issues facing the country.
He described the Tinubu administration as the worst in Nigeria's democratic history, stating that it has failed to fulfill its primary purpose of promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.

Ewenla emphasized that the country is facing an existential crisis due to the failure of successive leaders to address the problems of nation-building.

Ewenla urged President Tinubu to be truthful about the state of the nation and to take immediate action to address the suffering of Nigerians.

His words, “Tinubu should come out and tell Nigerians the true position of things in the country; the country has suffered enough and we need results fast.

“After a careful study of the state of the nation and a review of administrations since Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule in 1960, especially in the civilian dispensation which started on May 29, 1999, the Tinubu administration emerged the worst in terms of not fulfilling the primary purpose of government, which is promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.”

Ewenla described the life of the ordinary citizen as a mess, owing to the economic hardship fuelled by high transportation, a fuel price hike, and exorbitant food items in the market, adding that this has made the country the laughing stock of its neighbours and beyond.

According to the PDP stalwart, “Nigeria is gradually becoming the permanent invalid ‘Giant of Africa,' and all patriots are ashamed of what is going on in the country as the polity is fast drifting towards its elastic limit.”
Ewenla therefore enjoined the Tinubu government to redouble efforts to turn around the fortunes of the nation, in line with the expectations of the citizenry and his administration’s promises of effective change.

I see nothing good in the Tinubu administration other than high corruption and insecurity, he added.

Corps member flogged by vigilantes on the order of landlord in Edo state is unjust to country serving youths

By Onome Naomi

According to viral video, the corps member was seen with stripes of marks displayed on his back by vigilantes whom upon reports from his landlord pounced on the victim without mercy on 21st May, 2024.

It is said that the corper is serving in Edo State precisely Ora, Owan West Local Govt and was living with the airing landlord who upon late rent from corper had ordered vigilantes to flog him silly.

See excerpts of message shared with the video in display;

This is a youth corper that was assaulted today in Ora,owan west local government Area of Edo state by vigilante. He had issues of rent with the landlady who then invited the vigilante to beat him up. Let’s share this for it to get to the appropriate authority.

Another narration from Joseph, a co corp member who happens to be an eye witness and lives in same building owned by an Ambrose Ali lecturer they refered to as Mama said;

The result of the situation that I witnessed on the 21st of May, evening...

Mama's daughter visited the house that day with the intention to beat up Olumide or Ayomide.

I'm saying this because I witnessed her strong tone while addressing Olumide for not greeting her loudly, which led her to add more restrictions to how we are to live going forward.

A few moments later, she encountered Ayomide who came in to attend to his laundry and she vehemently asked why Ayomide was mistreating her mother by not paying the rent.

In the cause of explaining to the daughter that, he had talked about the rent with Mama, that it will be paid at the end of May. The lady aggressively pushes Ayomide to the wall and Ayomide fled the area and the lady followed and caught up with him, dragging him and in every way, forcefully hitting Ayomide.

As Mama's daughter chased Ayomide out of the compound to the road, she returned back to the house and began to pull out all the bags, furniture and clothes in the room, causing hazard to Ayomide's and Olumide gadgets, foodstuffs and provisions. If Olumide and I did not intervene while she was forcefully tearing things down in the room, we wouldn't have been able to secure some valuables. Olumide and I got the situation a bit under control by holding and separating the lady from Ayomide.

Few minutes later, some armed personnel appeared and collected Ayomide and unknown to Olumide and I who went straight to the police station with the hope to find Ayomide there but he and the so armed personnel, including the lady were not at the police station. They had taken Ayomide to opposite St. Daniels school where he was been beaten in such a manner and the lady outrightly said out there that Ayomide slapped her which never happened in any form.

At St. Daniels Secondary school where the vigilante were dehumanizing Ayomide. Olumide spoke up to say what has Ayomide done to deserve this kind of beating and immediately the vigilante group collected him and beat him up severely. Also, seizing the Corper, Ayomide ID card and vandalized it.

Recorded audio calls put through to the head of the vigilante commander in owan West LGA of Edo State shows lack of remorse for their actions towards the NYSC member who is serving his father's land and should be accorded respect not bullied and dehumanized. There is a public call for the relevant agencies to see to this matter inorder to end the unwelcoming and mistreatment of corpers in service especially in an unfamiliar terrain where they have their primary assignments. #Godwin Obaseki #NYSC DG

PoliticsWho Is Dangote And FGN Fooling? Nigerians Need To Know Why Crude Oil Is Imported by onochurch(op): 7:19am On May 22, 2024
Who is Dangote and FGN fooling? Nigerians need to know why crude oil is imported from the US when we have surplus in Nigeria - Comrade Iche

....Why is dangote importing crude oil from the US? - Comrade Iche questions FGN inaction

By Onome Naomi

Comrade Iche writes;

In recent times, numerous reports have shown that the Dangote refinery and other refineries in Nigeria have commenced operations. Nigerians felt relief that the crisis created with pump price of petroleum products when there were no refineries will decrease in surge but the issue remained.

It is paramount to note that the most shocking of all the diverse report is; that no refineries in Nigeria commenced operation e.g Port Harcourt refinery. Dangote refinery delayed in commencement of operation as against the original belief it had commenced operation which is subject to scrutiny on the part of the govt. Another reports says the first crude oil vessel from Port Harcourt had been delivered to Dangote refinery, hopes arose again, the citizens were happy that the high price of petroleum products leading to increase of commodities especially food stuffs will become past problems, so what happened that we as Nigerians never felt the effect of this seemingly progressive changes?

Then again, another episode of fuel saga struck, Nigerians were told that crude oil which seems to have an unending source in our blessed country Nigeria is insufficient for the Dangote refinery as they could only produce diesel with it and had to source for crude oil from the USA to complement what we have in our country. Who is Dangote and the FGN fooling?

Nigeria is a comic country, a right thinking government will never allow Dangote import crude from America, If he is still importing his crude from diaspora it simply means we do not have a government. It's almost one year Nigerians saw the Dangote refinery being commissioned by the former president Muhammadu Buhari and up till date, Dangote has not refined any product in Nigeria but he is indeed importing crude oil from America. Very contradictory episodes that seems suspicious, How can one man act with so much impunity always self centered with all his forms of production and the government isn't taking a drastic step. Does it mean that we do not have crude oil anymore in Nigeria?Imagine importing crude from America and then refining in Nigeria.

Dangote is making a mockery of Nigeria as a country, our dear country is classified as one of the major producers of crude oil in the world but cannot produce sufficient petroleum products for her country? How absurd that sounds.

I want to plead with the Federal Gov't of Nigeria to give licence to other indigenous refinery as we cannot depend on Dangote refinery alone, he's proven over the years that he is a selfish Nigerian business man.

I'm also appealing to this present government led by president Tinubu, to call Dangote to order, he is obviously trying to introduce the subsidy that has been nullified by Tinubu there by using dollar to buy crude oil instead of getting crude oil here in Nigeria. If he is not checked, we will assume this is a conspiracy between Dangote and the cabal.

Nigerians are aware that the present administration removed subsidy to encourage local refinery like Dangote while others are warming up. Dangote's moves could re-encourage further increase in price of petroleum products due to the surge in exchange rate of dollars. Does this mean that Nigeria's crude is limited or it is not good enough for Dangote's refinery? This will lead Nigerians back to the era of subsidy.

Nigerian government needs to give licence to other local refineries, we need viable competitors with Dangote. I can say categorically that Dangote has never been a sincere business man. He Is fund of monopolizing his businesses without considering the interest of the masses. We need an open market just like the telecommunication sector.

CrimeFamily Suspects Foul Play Over The Death Of Insp. Sunday Peter; Seek Igp's Inter by onochurch(op):
Family suspects foul play over the death of Insp. Sunday Peter; Seek IGP's intervention

Onome Naomi

Family of the late Insp Sunday Peter draws the attention of IGP Egbetokun to order the commencement of an investigation into the death of their brother, the late inspector, who died in the early hours of Friday, May 17, 2024, at about 2 a.m. while on duty. The cause of his sudden demise is unknown to his family, as his team mates withhold valid information leading to his death. The late Inspector of Police was a team member of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and was on duty on the day of the incident that took his life.

Information gathered by Naomi Sophy Blog states that Insp. Sunday Peter and his team members were on patrol along Falomo Ikoyi when he started complaining of uneasiness and asked to be taken to a medical facility. Upon reaching the police hospital at Falomo Ikoyi, a deposit of N100,000 was demanded to be paid before the he could be attended to. Unfortunately, death struck before medical aid was given to the late Inspector. It was also learned that the colleagues of the deceased delayed paying the said amount due to the unavailability of funds.

Brother of the deceased, Mr. John Peter, on behalf of the family, narrated that he was called at about 7 a.m. on the morning of Friday, May 17, 2023, that his brother is dead. The rude awakening to reality, he said, didn't set in until he saw his brother's corpse after much restriction from the mortuary attendants, who seem to be under someone's command to conceal the body of the deceased from family members.

The brother of the deceased, John Peter, said the restriction caused by the mortuary attendants, which lasted for over 13 hours, can be described as abnormal. They asked for a documentation that shows Mr. John can rightfully see the corpse and was pertinent about it. After much ado, he was allowed access to see the corpse but noticed another foul play as he was wrapped from neck down, leaving only the face for recognition, which seemed absurd to Mr. John, who was disallowed to have a proper assessment of the corpse despite proof of relativity.

Meanwhile, Mr. John Peter had earlier visited the office of RRS Commander Lagos to obtain information about the sudden death of his brother while on duty but met with stiffly restricted information. The commander claimed he's not gotten substantial information as to the cause of the death of his inspector, only the information given by his team members, which is subject to an investigation before he can make comments. The commander also gave an order to allow Mr. John see the corpse of his brother after he was met with hours of resistance by the mortuary attendants. He said the countenance of the commander shows there is more to the incident than the information given so far.

Naomi Sophy Blog reports that the family of the deceased is concerned about the anonymity orchestrated by the police over the death of their brother by giving a sketchy account of the incident. They said the situation surrounding his death seems unusual; they insist their brother was healthy before leaving for work, and if ever he felt fatigued or distressed, there would have been a sign to note. In addition, after his demise, the family members lament being deprived of seeing the corpse first neither did the police seek their consent before further procedures of body deposition and embalming was carried out.

To this effect, the family of the late Inspector Sunday Peter affirms that the situation leading to the death of their brother remains sketchy. The family is pleading for urgent attention from the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to order the commencement of a thorough investigation to ascertain the true cause of the death of their brother and husband.

Dr Roberts Uzu, Nollywood Veterans Charles Okafor, Emeka Ani Engage Prospects in a Go-Wellness Mega Seminar in Lagos

By Onome Naomi

Go-Wellness Worldwide networking platform during a mega seminar in Lagos enlightened and engaged prospects in a wealth creation scheme by projecting the Ruzu herbal health care products to the Nigerian market where people can sell and earn.

The seminar, which took place in Lagos on May 12, 2024, was attended by Nollywood veterans Emeka Ani and Charles Okafor, who spearheaded the occasion, revealing testimonies of the productivity of the research carried out by Dr. Uzu and his team to produce a potent herbal solution for diverse ailments plaguing the body systems of people, especially in the extermination of long- and short-term illnesses.

Prospected attendees are meant to key into the various packages for the Go-Wellness networking platform, as explained by the facilitator, who extensively narrowed down on how interested investors can begin with a package and earn from selling the herbal products by registering down lines who will in turn sell and earn.

The essence of networking Ruzu Herbal Products products is to ensure that distributors and partners can offer herbal remedies to restore healthy living and also create wealth using the Go-Wellness platform. The facilitator also revealed that earners get paid promptly and massively depending on the volume of sales and numbers of prospects registered using the organogram presented for an easy track of progress report.

Professor of Phytomedicine, Professor McDonald Idu, of the department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, University of Benin, who engineered the production of the Ruzu herbal products, analysed the components that make up Ruzu herbals. He said proper research was carried out to ensure efficacy as well as enhance quality assurance. He affirms that Ruzu Herbal Products under his supervision and tests are not harmful but potent for the cure of diverse ailments, including diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, infertility in both genders, infections, and other life-threatening ailments.

In addition, Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Go-Wellness Worldwide Limited, said the effectiveness, recognition, and testament accorded to Ruzu Herbal Products are progressively increasing despite limitations and fake brands. Says distributors have been positioned in strategic areas to fish out counterfeits in a bid to maintain the genuity of the brand. It is imperative that the government consider grants for entrepreneurs, especially in the health sector, as well as endorse the creation of herbal medical councils, just as there are medical and dental councils in Nigeria to enhance herbal medicine.

Dr. Uzu, in his speech, also buttressed the need for prospects to be distributors without procrastinating. He mentioned that with the littlest amount of N10,000 as fixed by the company will enable earnings for distributors who markets Ruzu Herbal products using the Go-Wellness platform.

Testimonials;

Nollywood Veterans Affirm the Potency of Ruzu Herbals

In a statement presented by Dr Charles Okafor, he attested to the effectiveness of Ruzu herbal products and stated that he's seen how his colleague( Prince Emeka Ani) struggled through a life-threatening ailment but was redeemed with the use of Ruzu herbal products. Reveals the use of Ruzu Bitters is a routine he observes first thing in the morning and last thing at night, with achievable results so far.

Charles said it's high time the government began to consider the recommendation of herbal solutions to patients, like in ancient times, rather than Orthodox remedies with temporary effects. He added that in Ghana, some other African countries, and Asia, doctors recommend indigenous products for patients with acute illnesses, and the same should be emulated in Nigeria. He commended Dr. Uzu for collaborating with AGN to promote wellness in Nollywood by giving free health care services to ailing actors, considering the death rate in the industry. Advises all to use Ruzu herbal products to stay healthy.

Prince Dr Emeka Ani told the listening audience how he met Dr. Robert Onyemaechi Uzu, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Go-Wellness Worldwide. He says the meeting was ordained by God to restore his already fragile health some time ago. He explained that he met Dr. Uzu on an occasion in Obiaruku Delta State at a time when he was critically ill with 20-year-old diabetes that had defiled all orthodox measures at home and abroad. At the mention of Dr. Uzu by known persons at the event, Ani said he quickly approached Uzu with a torrent of pleas to be helped and was given the remedy of Ruzu Bitters, which almost immediately remedied his diabetes and restored his tissues. He confirms that he now lives healthily; he demonstrated this via a dance spree showcasing the level of strength he now possesses, and he advises all to key into the Go-Wellness platform, where they can sell and earn.

Team Leaders Projects Go-Wellness Networking Platform

Amb. Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, who happens to be the number one networker on the Go-Wellness networking platform, stated that Ruzu Herbal Products has extended its products to the 36 states of the federation. She said prospects can achieve double benefits in health and wealth if only they register as distributors with a minimum amount of N10,000 needed as start-up capital to facilitate eligibility to earn using the Go-Wellness networking platform. The earnings are paid every Tuesday by the company to assure accountability, she added.

Prince Starry said the rate of mortality is on the increase due to poor health, which has defiled orthodox medicines. Says the Orthodox remedy should be reversed to the use of herbal remedies, which tend to be more potent and have a lasting solution. Advised the public to key into the Go-Wellness products, which consist of Ruzu herbal bitters, Ruzu herbal tea, Kamkpe, Ruzu balm, Ruzu wine, etc., and start to earn while keeping healthy. Added that the government should look into the availability of resources for the industrialization of herbal products.

Mrs. Theresa said she's known Ruzu herbal products and its efficacy since 2016 with viable testimonies of restored health. She mentioned that the Go-Wellness networking platform has touched lives and will do better if the government can create accessible funding for research and production of indigenous products such as Ruzu Herbal Products. This, she says, will boost earnings, leading to self-employment for both the young and the old.

He says they are working on producing herbal cream, toothpaste, and soap indigenously made with natural herbs that have been scientifically tested to assure their potency. Uzu also revealed he's been supportive, not only by giving total wellness packages but also by being a major sponsor of the five-day training so far. Advises trainees not to be deterred by competitions and challenges in the quest for fame but should be focused and determined to do well in their acting career by enveloping themselves with the passion to succeed. She says upcoming actors should emulate the success of star actors who have made an impact in the industry, not their personalities or characters. He noted that as an awardee and a member of AGN, he will continue to give health treatments to ailing actors for free nationwide. Express sadness at the rate of mortality in Nollywood, which has prompted his support to create total wellness in the industry by way of free treatments and health care services.

He said;

In the near future, I will like to see that AGN is globally recognized. The association should also make good use of my services as a doctor in herbal medicine and take advantage of them to promote total wellness.

Their health is important and must be attended to. My love for the Nollywood industry is unquantifiable, and I will make a noteworthy impact someday soon. I am already working on it.

Emeka Rising Ibeh Chairman AGN Lagos State Chapter told pressmen at the event that the idea of a training session for aspiring actors was established to encourage the youths to pick up a skill other than wandering about idle, leading to the committing of fraudulent acts like scams, hookups, and other vices. The training session is meant to educate, nurture, and enable capacity-building amongst the youth and adults who participated.

Emeka Rising mentioned that the training of aspiring actors who were handed certificates during the actors night will be the 4th set of trainees so far since the commencement of humanitarian development in the 3 years of his administration as AGN president Lagos chapter. The first set of trained aspiring actors had 280 participants; the second set was 185; the third was 210; and the fourth set had 172 participants and was awarded a certificate of membership. I advised upcoming actors to be steadfast and focused.

Emeka Rising also commended the effort of Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu, Chairman/CEO of Ruzu Herbals Products and Go-Wellness Worldwide, for his magnanimity towards AGN in totality and his contribution towards making the free training of aspiring actors a successful venture.

Star Actor Emeka Ike, a special guest and awardee at the occasion, appreciated the organisers of the event, acknowledged guests and co-awardees, and appreciated Dr. Uzu for being a reliable support system in giving free health care services to better the healthy lives of actors. Uses the medium of attendance to advise upcoming actors to stay focused despite challenges that could occur and says comfortably acting using your own original quality, not to emulate or forcibly fall into someone else's character in the acting career, is unique. He gives instances of the days in his acting career when he's got challenging roles but interpreted them well due to his resilience to work and originality on display.

Emeka Ike also reveals that as the chaperone of a safety committee appointed by AGN to oversee actor welfare and safety in executing primary assignments by producers, he will ensure that the incident leading to the death of star actor Junior Pope will never repeat itself in Nollywood. There will be rules and binding laws to checkmate matters of safety in the association, he added.

The event was well attended by Cornel Udofia of CMC Gladiators magazine, known for promoting AGN in its entirety, other notable media organisations, trainees of AGN Lagos chapter and invited guests.

Lagos Residents Protest Four Months Darkness, Send SOS to Sanwo-Olu

Onome Naomi

Residents and community leaders in Ayetoro Community in Oto Awori Local Council of Lagos State have protested four months of blackout in the area.

The residents said they have been in total darkness since January following the removal of their fuse from the transformer by officials of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) after they complained of epileptic power supply and high estimated bills.

The community claimed that they have been experiencing epileptic power supply for years. Still, the situation got worse the first week of January 2024 as officials of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) came to their community and removed the fuse in the transformer, throwing the entire community into darkness. Subsequently, all efforts by the community to get the power supply restored have been unfruitful.

Speaking during the protest, a community leader, Chief Ganiyu Kolawole said: "They have been giving us estimated bills for years. Some houses get as much as N80,000, N100, 000 for a house in a month when the power supply is epileptic. When the outrageous bill continued we complained to the EKEDC about the development but they didn't rectify the issue.

"The situation got worse in late December 2023 till the first week of January 2024 when officials of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) removed the fuse from the transformer. For four months residents have been living in total darkness."

"Our crime was simply because we complained of outrageous estimated bills they were giving us and officials of EKEDC removed the fuse".

Explaining further, Ganiyu said: "The situation has affected our community terribly. Small and medium businesses that depend on power supply to function are closing down. We have written several letters to EKEDC head office in Marina yet nothing”

Also, speaking at the protest, the youth chairman of the community, Comrade Akoni Abdulazeez said that power supply situation is affecting schoolchildren in the community, as they are finding it difficult to read at night. “Many of their parents can’t afford alternative power, especially with the high fuel cost. Since January 17th when they removed the fuse, businesses are collapsing; people are parking out of the community. The community has become a shadow of itself. We can’t sleep with our two eyes closed because wherever there is a lack of power supply there is insecurity. We are, therefore, appealing to the Lagos state government especially the governor Babajide Sanwolu to come to our aid, we are calling on Managing Director EKEDC Marina headquarters to restore our light, the suffering is too much.”

Lamenting bitterly to a resident Mrs Olagbehinde Jumia said "I am a businesswoman in the Ayetoro community, I run a frozen food outlet, the lack of power supply in the community has affected my business terribly. We are tired of darkness. In my building, we have four flats each with four prepaid meters, yet houses like ours that have prepaid meters were not considered in their decision. For how long should residents in the community continue to stay in darkness”?

Chief Hassan, the Olori-ebi in Ayetoro community said the issue has been affecting a lot of people's businesses badly. “Our wife can't cook and preserve in the refrigerator anymore. The heat is too much, and couples can't enjoy themselves. We have been staying in darkness all these months and EKEDC is not doing anything to rectify the situation. That is why we have decided to come out and protest about this light issue. We are protesting because of the too-high estimated bill and epileptic power supply. Enough is enough; we can't continue to pay for darkness.”

Go-Wellness Worldwide In Synergy With Popular Nollywood Actors To Promote Networking Platform For Ruzu Herbal Products

By Onome Naomi

The CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products, Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu, in a meeting held in the Surulere area of Lagos with popular Nollywood actors Victor Osuagwu and Emeka Ani on April 30, 2024, urges actors to take their health seriously by taking advantage of Ruzu range of health care products and services to remedy the recent rise in death of veterans in the industry.

Health care practitioner Dr. Uzu also stated that the meeting is intended to synergize with AGN to further promote the networking platform, despite its recent breakthrough in the increased garnering of prospects. Says the power of advertising and marketing to promote a brand stems from strategies created to attract public interest and acceptance.

As a specialist in herbal solutions to remedy ailments, Dr. Uzu noted that synergizing with the media and AGN will project Go-Wellness Worldwide and Ruzu Herbal Products to further inform Nigerians of the opportunities embedded therein if a prospect joins the platform to network the Ruzu brand.

In addition, Dr. Onyemaechi said:

"The time has come for us to leverage the platform we have right now so that we can all make money while saving lives.

"There is a need for us to leverage on each other; I have the knowledge, the products, and the value; we need the media to project the brand for the world to see; and those who have the face (AGN) should also use their network to tell Nigerians the benefit of what we are doing.

"It's not just how to live a healthy life but also how to create wealth while living healthily using the Go-Wellness Worldwide platform as well as project the ranges of Ruzu Herbal Products."

Popular Nollywood star actor Victor Osuagwu commended the effort of Dr. Uzu to promote the brand using the right channels, unlike the product's initial emergence in Nigerian stores without proper promotional strategies to project the potency of the herbal formula. He gave instances of health care products created by some other health care practitioners who boycotted proper advertisements using cut-out pictures and videos from celebrity attendees of events to promote products in a way of marginalization, advised Dr. Uzu against such means. Says being consistent and genuinely secure with promoters who are public faces as well as the media will ensure credibility for his brand.

Popular actor Emeka Ani also made an input in addition to the points and strategies laid out by colleague Victor Osuagwu, promised to be part of the Ruzu brand, as he also attested to the product's efficacy.

The Go-Wellness Worldwide network platform, born out of Ruzu Herbal Products to enhance the outreach of the various health care remedies in herbal formulas, was created for Nigerians to live healthily as well as make wealth. The range of herbal products is said to be a potent solution for the treatment of a range of health issues and complications, while users and buyers of these products make money using the Go-Wellness platform.

Stop pursuing shadows, face the core objectives of your agency - Human Rights Advocate slams EFCC

By Onome Naomi

In recent times, the operations of the EFCC has been centered on celebrity and individuals who have worked and earned themselves a place amongst the rich in the society but trifled by the agency's modus operandi to sabotage their private lives with the order 'Arrest those who abuse naira by spraying' in parties rather than prioritize the arrest of looters of public funds in government.

To this effect, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, a human rights advocate questions the essence of EFCC, known as the coordinating agency for the enforcement of all economic and financial crimes. He said the motive behind this arrests of celebrities and other individual is uncertain as those who have connections are fined with exorbitant bail condition while those without the capacity of 'Man know Man' is faced with a sentence to be served.

Speaking about the core purpose of the agency, Iche condemns EFCC's pursuit of celebrities who sprays naira in parties, says the focus should be on Nigerian leaders who have looted the country's resources. The looters have committed fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, tax evasion, foreign exchange malpractices on several levels.

In his statements he said;

"EFCC should stop pursuing shadow and chasing clout, what happened to the arrest of leaders in government who have committed fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, tax evasion, foreign exchange malpractices and looting over the years? Instead, the agency is going after people like Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest for spraying money and left the most important issue killing our society, unattended to. This is shameful."

"It is expected of the EFCC to arrest the python that swallowed billions and the monkey that looted Nigeria treasure. The economy is declining in financial and material resources daily."

"EFCC is aware of the harm looters have committed economically, they have drained the government purse yet unapprehended but the agency is firm in pursuing those who spray money at parties."

"I do not support the act of abusing naira because it an offence before the law, rather I am of the opinion that the core values and functions of EFCC has been neglected but focused on naira spraying in recent times."

"The EFCC should focus more on looters of public funds in public offices to recover the country's stolen resources, cash sprayer at parties shouldn't be a priority. The agency is rated highly but discouraging in it's recent operations."

EFCC can only be taken seriously if they act independently not influenced by government's order/decisions on mode of operation. More also, the agency should not allow self be monopolized by corrupt politicians.

In reference to Yahaya Bello's arrest, Iche said the EFCC as a commendable agency should apprehend without obstruction as against what played out in Yahaya's case where his security detail stopped the agency from effecting its purpose. Says the act of obstruction of justice simply affirms the core value of EFCC is tarnished, it should be redeemed by setting the record straight.

Politicians who have looted public funds in form of budgetary for road construction and other facilities should be defaced over the increased poverty on already suffering Nigerians. Politicians found guilty after recovery of public funds looted should be jailed not released on bail, the recovered funds should affect the nation positively not further looted by others in government, Comrade Iche added.

Go-Wellness Worldwide Celebrates the Outstanding Achievers of the Moment

By Onome Naomi

Go-Wellness Worldwide, a distinguished networking platform for Ruzu Herbal Products, is making history in the Nigerian space as they celebrate outstanding achievers of the moment in Lagos on Saturday April 13, 2024.

The aim of promoting notable networkers during its celebration of achievement stems from showing the genuity of the Go-Wellness working scheme that enables a partner or distributor to earn in millions of naira by recording progressive sales of the diverse brands of Ruzu Herbal products in the Nigerian and diaspora markets.

In the chairman's opening speech, he said Go-Wellness Worldwide came into existence four months ago, in November 2023, with only 12 accounts but has recorded applauding success over time. The vision is centred on making a contribution to the function of humanity, leveraging each other for the success of one another. Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu added that the essence of the gathering is to celebrate all who have contributed to the success of Go-Wellness till date.

Onyemaechi revealed that Go-Wellness is not just a networking platform but distinguished in its aims as it focuses more on creating impact for end users as well as maintaining the value of productivity. He said the platform has built a system and procedure where people of like minds pursue a common goal: to simply grow organically. He envisioned Go-Wellness as the first-best network business in Africa.

Go-Wellness Worldwide recognition of principal achievers who have benefitted from its networking of products includes: Amb Ijeoma Chukwu (gold medalist), Dr. Collins, Ibeh Stanley, Amb. Theresa Jide Ogunlana (the 3 best networkers), Barr Ebenezer (best stockists), Ibeh Stanley, the overall winner for the Easter Go-Wellness promo who won N500,000, and others.

Dr. Dorris Yaro, aka "The Mother of Go-Wellness," confirmed the genuity of the local content, which is embedded in the organic herbal product of Ruzu herbal remedies. Revealed two years ago, she advised Dr. Onyemaechi to put his production into networking, which is now a reality. Ijeoma Chukwu, a gold medalist awardee on the Go-Wellness platform, noted that the company is unveiling itself in the Nigerian market to help people of all ages earn an income and become millionaires with a start-up capital of N10,000, which guarantees 100% earnings and can also qualify an earner for a house, car, and other valuable prices. She revealed that the products of "Ruzu" are registered with Nafdac and the American FDA to enable sales outside Nigeria's shores. Ogunlana Ebenezer stated that Ruzu Herbals has been in the Nigerian market since the 1990s, and he joined as a networker in 2003. Ruzu's unpopularity in those early years was a result of the following factors: the product must be right, the marketing must be right, and lastly, the people must respond to it rightly, he said.

Describing the acceptance of Ruzu's efficacy in the early years of its existence, Ogunlana reveals that Dr. Onyemaechi would give out his products for free to convince users of their potency, and he benefited from that free gift, which turned his health issues around to normalcy, as well as many other testimonies from users. Ogunlana also mentioned that the company has a new range of products still under review, and they are products for the heart, kidney, diabetes, and others.

Testimonials

Ajike Motunrayo Osho, a Go-Wellness distributor, affirms that the Ruzu brand of herbal products is one of a kind in Nigeria. Mention that it cures infection, fibroid (if not advanced), malaria, stroke, low sperm count, and other known ailments that have defiled orthodox medicine within 2–3 days after monitoring.

Jide Ogunlana said that as a biochemist by profession in 2000, he had an illness with affirmations from 5 doctors that he had 1 year to live but had lived for 24 years on, still counting with the help of Ruzu Herbal Bitters, which had helped remedy the lives of so many other persons.

Speaking with journalists at the event, Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert, chairman of Go-Wellness Worldwide Limited, MD Ruzu Herbal Products Limited, said Go-Wellness is celebrating achievers, the networkers who have done well in promoting the platform. Says the networking platform has a support system that cannot be manipulated but is fully automated to help members benefit with no losses.

He attested that in the last 4 months of Go-Wellness's existence, the platform blossomed from zero naira to millions as earnings for outstanding networkers of Ruzu Herbal Products. Go-Wellness is the marketing aspect of Ruzu Herbal. The various brand of Ruzu Herbal products were originally launched and certified in November 2012, surpassing challenges to offer solutions for a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu urges the government to pay more attention to manufacturers. He says SMEs contribute immensely to the growth of a nation and are the largest employer of labour, not necessarily oil and gas manufacturers, which seems to be the focus of the government. He also said the government needs to create a council for traditional doctors who practice phytomedicine like medical doctors to enhance acceptance. Herbal medicine has taken centre stage in primary health care, and the government needs to recognise that. In recent times, herbal remedies have surpassed Orthodox in efficacy and potency, as seen from various research studies, he added.

Naomi Sophy Blog reports that the IT department of 'Ruzu Herbal Products, handled by Nwaneka Dikedi and George Promise, has embellished the Go-Wellness brand with a notable identity in the public space. They disseminate information to reach the public by means of social media campaigns and redirection to the company website for needed products by consumers as an integral factor for advertisement.

PoliticsLIFE Engages Teenage Youths In A 3-day Workshop To Enlighten And Educate On Effe by onochurch(op): 2:53pm On Apr 11, 2024
LIFE engages teenage youths in a 3-day workshop to enlighten and educate on effective GBV response and access to justice

By Onome Naomi

In a bid to curb the increasing Gender Based Violence' in the Nigerian environment, Leadership Initiative for Youth Empowerment (LIFE) organised a 3-day workshop with the theme  "Scaling up leadership of female survivors for effective gender-based violence (GBV) response and access to justice in Oshodi-Isolo local government" from Tuesday, April 9th–11th, 2024, in Lagos.

The seminar had over 41 teenage boys and girls in attendance from various local government areas in Lagos State to mingle and interact while learning the act of denormalizing things that are believed to be normal. In addition, the youths were sensitised to task themselves with the mandated reporting of abuse cases to relevant agencies, irrespective of a victim's disposition.

The workshop for day 2 commenced with discussions from the previous session (day 1) to ascertain the learning and assimilation level of attendees who are teenage participants. This mental drill is meant to spur participants to realise the diverse abusive cases that could be averted or resolved if approached using the proper channels, bearing in mind that "Survivors utmost cooperation defines the outcome of a case in prospective."

Barr. Gloria from the Lagos State Office of the Public Defendant (OPD), who facilitated the day-2 workshop session, enlightened the teenage attendees on the various kinds of abuses, which include physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, exploitation, restraint of freedom, intimidation, emotional and psychological abuse, etc. She noted that ignorance of the law is not an excuse for certain behaviours termed abusive and says survivors must not condone abuses due to certain factors considered to be propelled abnormalities perceived as a normal way of life when in reality it is an abuse.

In her message to the teenage youths, she said, "Be a change agent by normalising the abnormal actions that are seen as normal."  There are protection laws for domestic violence cases that aid access to justice and also channel the mental state of survivors towards recovery from ordeals.

Barr. Gloria further enumerated the various laws and their applications to access justice for victims. To mention a few, she said:

"The protection law against violence was enacted in 2017. Sometimes people go through violence unaware that it is an abnormal act, nor do they know there is a law protecting them. It is important to educate children at the early stages of life. In Lagos State, everybody under the age of 18 is a child."

"Again, there is a thin line between discipline and abuse; any discipline that leaves a mark on the body of a child is no longer discipline but abuse. Lagos State has a protection system in place for every child."

"There are lots of children in correctional centres who have entangled themselves in a sexual abuse offense. Also, an underage person cannot give consent to sex."

"If a spouse or individual suffers domestic violence, he or she is entitled to file for a restriction called a 'Protection Order' barring any form of contact with the abuser or report to agencies that can help file for a restriction order, which is subject to withdrawal if the survivor is willing to close the case against the perpetrator. Meaning, if someone receives a protection order, the protected can apply for restrictions to be removed due to good behaviour and acceptance; however, the court will ensure that the protected is not coaxed into withdrawing but voluntarily making such a request. Protection orders are 70% guaranteed if requested, and OPD and other relevant agencies, including LIFE, can provide support systems for the aftermath of GBV cases."

"Witnesses should realise that they are mandatory reporters to report unusual activities that seem to be against the law. Filing an application in court involves an affidavit that states the facts about why you need lawful protection. It is paramount to report any form of abuse, as you can never tell the end result of an abusive act until it is fully carried out, which can lead to regret on the part of the witness."

"Abuses can be transgenerational if they are not addressed. It's a cycle that should be cut short; otherwise, they attract the wrath of the law. Be conscious of abuses; be the change we see. Obstruction of justice is the act of not putting the law into practice; there is a need to activate the law to get justice."

In participation, some of the teenage youths asked pertinent questions arising from their immediate environment in GBV cases, while Barr. Gloria gave responses by giving extensive insights on matters of concern.

David Ral, a second facilitator for the day-2 session of the workshop, talked about self-esteem and peer pressure. He enumerated how appreciating one's self promotes the quality of one's lifestyle and how low self-esteem can affect the quality of one's lifestyle. He educated the teenage attendees on several levels of low self-esteem and how to adapt to issues arising, sensitising them on ways to change their mindset from low to high self-esteem.

He further said:

"To move your mindset from low to high self-esteem, you need to change the way you think and develop self-awareness (a conscious awareness of one's own character)."

David also mentioned the factors that affect self-esteem, they are: social experience, peer influence, changes during stages of growth in life, etc. He also expanded on 'How to Improve Self-Image' by ways of challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with positive, realistic thoughts, the practice of self-compassion, engaging in self-reflection, building supportive relationships, and having positive affirmations. In addition, he entertained questions from the teenage youths.

PoliticsLIFE Creates Awareness On Improving Access To Justice For Survivors Of 'gender B by onochurch(op):
LIFE creates awareness on improving access to justice for survivors of 'Gender Based Violence' in a one-day dialogue session in Lagos

By Onome Naomi

The one-day dialogue session created by Leadership Initiative For Youth Empowerment ( LIFE) on Improving access to justice for vulnerable survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Lagos state took place on 26th March, 2024 in Ikeja.

The interactive session which attracted several ministries in collaboration with LIFE to render valuable services to victims of sexual and gender based violence is aimed at creating awareness by curbing the menace caused to disorient the mental state of victims/survivors and the best approach to apprehend perpetrators without prejudice.

In attendance is; The ministry of women affairs and poverty alleviation representatives, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs representatives and WRAHP representative, Mirabel Centre representative, DSVA representative, LASCOTA Isolo, Oshodi and Ejigbo branches, The Nigeria Police Officers Alalusa, Nigeria Neighborhood safety Agency, pressmen, others

The dialogue session commenced with an introduction of LIFE from the monitoring and evaluation officer, Mokwe Oluwatoyin Esther who expatiate on the aims and objectives of the NGO. In addition, she stated that the issue of Gender based violence stemmed from the inability of a survivor/victim to voice out sexual abuses for fear of a reprimand as instilled by the perpetrator. The need to break all bounds by creating awareness with the slogan 'See something, say something and do something immediately ' could spur victims morale to eliminate the fear of the unknown by reporting abuses.

A facilitator who spoke extensively on GBV during the dialogue session, Efundunni Sowemimo, from the Lagos state domestic and sexual violence agency noted that Lagos state has its local policies towards GBV and offers free services to victims including children and adults. She mentioned that services provided includes; Advocacy, counselling, empowerment and rescue for all GBV/sexual violence cases, convictions of perpetrators and civil cases on behalf of potential clients.

Sowemimo said the office of GBV/ Sexual and domestic violence cases was created in September 2021 and has recorded some success stories so far. She said, a case can last as long as it is yet to be resolved due to court injunctions/judgements depending on the time frame for investigation which could include visiting of crime scene to provide evidences, the access to full report on the day to day process of rehabilitation, to ensure that nobody gets blamed for whatever experiences as a result of another persons mismanagement or emotions. Advocates from the office gives a listening ear and untamed support, there's also a free toll line 08000333333 to report GBV and other sexual offence cases, she added.

The center manager, Mirabel center with speciality in creating sexual and gender awareness Joy Shokoye mentioned that Mirabel center provides support services to survivors of gender and sexual based violence by providing medical check , treatments, social support and counselling to help them overcome the trauma of sexual abuses. She said all services provided are free including feeding and transport for survivors; the support given gives rise to hope of having more survivors than victims as there is need to subdue what has happened. We don't blame our survivors for someone else bad decisions, we do not encourage covering up GBV because of shame and fear, we encourage survivors to surmount their situations, she noted.

Shokoye further said:

"A victim/survivor can have access to justice by reporting cases of abuse instead of calling family members and pastors. Mirabel center can be contacted especially on sexual and gender based violence to get guidance on how to get justice. If you are afraid to report you cannot get justice so you have to summon courage, there is a safe space as well as group support for rehabilitation process."

Oladele Olabusayo Ajoke from Ministry of Women Affairs gave a solid input by urging the public to work on prevention rather than the occurrence. She said the government is doing a lot to train workers, boys, men and women on handling GBV. The need to avoid certain situations of GBV/ Sexual and domestic violence by giving parental care with proper sensitization should be done by means of a direct approach especially when sensitizing youngsters on genitals and its uses, make them understand rights from wrongs. She also mentioned that there are many International organisation funding the creation of foundations to curb and create awareness on gender and sexual based violence. Oladele urges people in distress to dial 760, says If there is no access to call, victims or family of victims should approach a nearby police station or agencies nearby who tackles GBV cases. Let parents do the needful to complement the efforts of government, she asserted.

Ogechi Jessica Steven, the program officer  of LIFE NGO also sensitized the audience on the need to create awareness in GBV cases, how people see the dangers faced by vulnerable survivors in accessing justice and ways to help prevent being a victim. She gave instances of situations arising from silence by intimidation from perpetrators and its damaging effect on victims leading to irrational behaviours. She also emphasized on the need to report rape cases to the appropriate authority not Clerics or family members who would rather keep it a secret than making a report. She said offenders should face the full wrath of the law if found culpable, in other words, victims must not hold back when fighting for justice regardless of whom perpetrated or initiated the abuse.

Ogechi also discouraged the idea of apportioning blames on victims of abuse as this could be detrimental to their mental health but rather advocates should focus on giving moral and psychological support to the victims while the fight for justice is sustained. She declined on the motive behind why perpetrators are attracted to their victims which includes dress mode amongst other attractions, says there is no excuse for an abuser to commit sexual or violent offences.

Naomi Sophy Blog observed that during the dialogue session, some questions, concerns as well as input on GBV cases was raised by audience in attendance and was treated accordingly. The dialogue session gave an extensive insight in addressing the global concern affecting justice and ways to undo the irregularities of abuse cases. More importantly, that victims should not tamper with evidences at the scene of crime to aid investigation and prosecution of perpetrators.

PoliticsHuman Rights Advocate Says Lagos Govt Should Focus On Dissolving Agreement/ Comm by onochurch(op): 8:32pm On Mar 27, 2024
Human rights advocate says Lagos govt should focus on dissolving agreement/ commission/ caution fee rather than implement monthly rent charge.

By Onome Naomi

Comrade Iche in previous reports addressed the pros and cons attached to the enforcement of the monthly rent charge by Lagos state govt. He says the issue of monthly payment of rent has many other unaddressed issues that must be looked into as in the case of agreement and commission charged by housing agents and landlords who now sees it as a way to rip people off their sweat without much ado.

On a normal circumstance, the agents commission is embedded in the rent charges to be paid out by the landlord at the point of renting an apartment but now, house agents and landlords charges exorbitant fee separately from rent thereby subjecting interested tenants to a 'must do' otherwise walk away. For instance; If an apartment cost N100,000 to rent, the landlord pays the agent from the paid rent but now if an apartment cost N100,000 , there is an added fee of caution, agent's commission and other fees almost amounting to the cost of rent initially paid, causing hardship for aspiring tenants, Iche explained.

He further said:

There is need for today's government to address the many issues causing hardship for poor and average citizens. One of such critical situation is the sudden decision to make Lagos tenants pay rents monthly, this is absolutely not the solution to housing issues. If the government truly want to help the masses, they should look into the foundation and spot the issues to be tackled first.

Tenants faces all kinds of oppression from the landlords, the main aim is to make these tenants leave to allow for an increase in rent as another aspiring tenant surfaces. Many atimes, tenants will rather hang on to abuses rather than look for another option because the new rent of a shelter will attract exorbitant fees stemmed from agent and agreements alongsides other commissions.

This numerous fraudulent charges includes: Agent fees, caution fees, agreement fees and others with amount almost doubling the actual rent charge, sometimes this charges exceeds the rent in itself. These are the challenges we expect the government to address.

Iche went on to make a reference using self, says as a landlord he disallows tenant at the point of rentage to pay unnecessary charges and will also put his agent to check. He stated that people renting houses should be treated as humans not like cash cows, urges landlords in Lagos to do same. The government should look into easing the many problems the of the people they are representing as many are victims in the hands of their landlords, he noted.

In a bid to buttress opinion on curbing this excesses by Landlords and agents, Iche recommends that the Lagos state governor , Babajide Sanwo-olu should enforce binding laws to checkmate landlords by discouraging caution fees, agreement, agent fees. If there must be such charges it should be based on a certain low percentage of a fixed price otherwise be totally eradicated. Such laws will be of great help to the masses looking to rent a house, he opined.

In reference to the former governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Iche said he came in during his tenure as Lagos state governor and stopped 'Omo-Nile' from demanding an extra 10% on sales of land from buyers after purchase. Today's government can follow suit by creating a landmark history that Lagosians will not forget in a hurry for this seems to be the real issue aspiring tenants suffer in the hands of greedy landlord and house agents.
Our elected leaders should put more focus on unnecessary charges as one of the most inconsiderate act by Landlords that needs to be stopped rather than implement monthly rent charges, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche aka 'voice of the voiceless' added.
