Politics › Re: Why Ndigbo Should Avert Distractions And Embrace The Creation Of Orlu State by onuman: 12:40am On Jun 13, 2024
BossGerald:
What federal government development is in Anambra north and central?

How many federal government development is even in SE as a whole??

People of orlu are not crying anything, they love imo state, it's your disgruntled rep member that wants to corner orlu oil and gas in his pocket telling you rubbish.

Anyways, orlu state is a dead agenda already
Lol. In 2006, Rep. Ugochinyere who now put the Bill for Orlu state might be in Primary school or Junior Secondary school.
Why do you think:
in 2006, Njaba state (same as this Orlu state) was adopted by Ohaneze Nd'Igbo for creation as 6th state in the SE?
in 2014, the same state was proposed?
in 2024, the same state is proposed?

Answer: because considering the history of state creation in the SE, a 6th state in the SE zone must come from Anambra and Imo States, or from any of the two states.

BossGerald:
Give me one sensible reason it shouldn't continue being under imo state??

Make Una try dey reason sometimes
The people in Orlu zone cry that nothing federal government institutions were left for them to develop with. As a result, more than 90% of money from federal allocations to Imo circulate only in one zone.
The same reason why attempt was made to transfer Anambra State university in Uli out, because our other side of Anambra knew that Uli and some areas in Anambra south used to be part of Orlu. How many federal government development projects do we have in Anambra South? Why little or even none?

BossGerald:
Others are saying no to orlu state, except that rep member that propose the bill and very few of his confused followers.

Come to Anambra and ask people, you can't be online talking bla bla bla.
But the 12 local government areas in Orlu zone of Imo state are even extra large for Orlu state and is the richest in natural resources in the SE.

Say no to your Anioma State for the SE zone. It's a deception on the Igbos of the SE.

BossGerald:
Nobody is dividing already small SE into any state.

All the SE states are among top ten smallest states in Nigeria and you want to divide it more??

Any additional state that isn't coming from Anioma, Adada or ikwerre is dead on arrival...period.

Yes I be Anambra
If you create Anioma State for the SE zone, it worsens the political underrepresentation in Abuja for Ndiigbo.
The reason they ask for sixth state in the SE is mainly to increase political representation for Ndiigbo.
Abakaliki is the main block of Ebonyi state which was cut off from Enugu state now left with Enugu and Nsukka.
The 6th state for the SE zone must come from Anambra and Imo States, or from any of the two states.

Why would any saner person create Adada as state whereas Imo and Anambra States still has Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi areas, Imo state still have Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe areas?

Land mass is not considered when creating state.

Dera1000:
You've got a point. The economic situation in Nigeria is undeniably frustrating, and it's understandable why people are feeling the pinch. Take a look at the skyrocketing prices – it's mind-boggling. For instance, think about something as basic as a Sure deodorant. In 2019, you could snag one for ₦1200, right? Fast forward to now, and it's a jaw-dropping ₦5800 in the Ajah market. That's over a 380% increase in just a few years!

And let's talk about leadership. Many folks feel let down, especially when they see leaders like Tinubu seemingly untouched by the economic chaos. Despite being in a position of influence, his economic strategies and body language aren't instilling much confidence. It's frustrating, especially for those of us who work in finance and can see the writing on the wall.

Sure, every leader faces challenges, but the current state of affairs demands action. Our President can't afford to sit back while the country struggles. Yet, it feels like progress is at a standstill, and the gap between the haves and the have-nots is widening. It's no wonder people are skeptical of anyone singing praises for the President – it often feels like they're getting something out of it, while the rest of us are left holding the bag.

We all want what's best for Nigeria, but it's clear we're not there yet. The economic frustration is real, and it's high time our leaders started delivering real solutions instead of empty promises.
You don't understand that Nigeria's skewed political structure under unitary government system is behind the economic woes of Nigeria you are lamenting.
The most shortchanged by the political structure seek for ways to balance it to enable emergence of good governance system or better apex political leadership for Nigeria.

But mugus and most apolitical persons, including you, beat the band marching backwards due to crude and parochial sentiments.
Politics › Re: Ihiala, Orumba, Ozubulu: Am I The Only One Thinking This About Orlu State? by onuman: 11:19pm On Jun 12, 2024
onumadu:
Am I the only one thinking that the idea of an “Orlu state” with Anambra LGAs like Ihiala, Orumba and towns like Ozubulu is, to put it mildly, highly controversial?
BTW why Ozubulu from Ekwusigo LGA, but not others from that same LGA?
Do those flying this kite actually know Ozubulu people well?
Does anyone actually think that they can separate Ihiala from the rest of the “Orsu people” in places like Ukpor, Utu, and others in Nnewi South LGA?
Similarly, how does one separate Orumba people from their Aguata LGA kins?
But the most egregious mistake is to not recognize that the LGAs mentioned above are TYPICAL ANAMBRA people.
If anyone would excise Ihiala, Orumba and towns like Ozubulu into an Orlu state, why not take Nnewi North, and Idemili LGAs, too?
If I were advising those sponsoring this Orlu state, I would advise them to first change the name of the state to something else, because the LGAs from Abambra would find subsuming them under Orlu unpalatable.
You can name the state Ojukwu state, and include Nnewi North and Idenmili LGAs too.
Overall, I think that the sixth state that South East really needs is ANIOMA state.
All these fractious people trying to split hairs in current South East region should take a chill pill.
QED.
That new state proposed in the SE zone contains the largest deposit of Natural gas in Nigeria, and has been the oil producing areas of Imo state right from te te.
Any reasonable Igbo from Anambra south senatorial district looks forward to joining Orlu state.

Loads of the local government areas in Anambra south proposed to join Orlu state share long time common ties and culture with Orsu in Orlu senatorial district.
Even loads of the parish churches, including the Catholic Church, in Anambra South are in Orlu Dioceses.

Nobody reasonable in Anambra South understands why these anti Igbo people make posts upandan, and talk "no part of Anambra State is joining Orlu state." Were we all not in the East Central State before? Stop hiding behind your desire to deny the SE commensurate political representation in Abuja, to ask for Anioma state to be created and brought to the SE, because if Anioma is created for the SE, it worsens the situation of political underrepresentation for Igbos.

Walahi, ezi okwu, some of you people on this "no part of Anambra State is leaving" are most apolitical, and deserve to be taken under a tree in Kano or Sokoto, to be taught 'Nigeria Politics 101.'

First pity Tinubu for a shattered economy. Tinubu fully understands that the unitary governmernance system of Nigeria which refuses true and fiscal federalism is behind the shattered economy.

Tinubu campaigned all over the SW region for political restructuring of Nigeria. He became president of Nigeria and political restructuring of Nigeria became his blind spot.

Tinubu benefits from their struggles but never talks about restructuring Nigeria.
He rather talks about democracy though he knows that democracy in a country with false foundation will fail.

Anioma is proposed for SS. Politicians in the SE have been asking for a sixth state in the SE. A new state between Imo and Anambra States or from any of the two states fits the cap for a 6th state in the SE.

Abakaliki the largest chunk of Ebonyi state was cut out from old Anambra State for the 5th state in the SE.
Therefore, a 6th state for the SE must be cut out from the old Imo state.

We would have avoided all these inconsistencies if there was an engagement with the public!
Now we don't even know the correct one as the number 3 citizen is still dragging with the non existent NOA about a hurriedly rushed national anthem!
Engage the public? If every intention of Tinubu's government is taken to approval at the NASS as an Executive Bill, it will not pass, unless the northern side of Nigeria benefits triple times from the Bill more than the two southern regions. The skewed and lopsided political structure of 20 new federal units (states) in the Old Northern region but 17 states in two Southern regions created by northern military dictators, ensures that the number of legislators from the north overwhelms the number of legislators from the two southern regions.

Nigeria has finally come full circle, finally one of the active participants in June 12 has become the president of Nigeria
It is a pity History is no longer taught in schools. There are four defining moments in our History as a Nation, the first is our Independence from the British, the second is the First military coup, the third is the Civil War and the fourth is June 12 1993
June 12 1993 will go down as the day Nigerians decided to come out and vote in what is described as the most free and fair election ever held in Nigeria, it was a Muslim Muslim Ticket,a Progressive Southern and Conservative Northern
Option A4 was adopted, there was minimal thuggery and the candidate MKO Abiola was coasting home to victory, then suddenly the military struck and destroyed everything
That single action took Nigeria back by another 20 years, then the wasted years began under the most despotic military regime ever witnessed
The struggle for a New Nigeria started,NADECO was formed and the mobilisation started
The likes of Chief Frank Kokori,Guerilla journalism under people like Kola Ilori,Opeyemi Bamidele,Nosa Igiebor and underground actors like student union leaders and activist like Chief Gani Fawehinmi,Dr Beko Ransome Kuti,Col Umar(rtd),
I want the president to really reflect on today, things have really changed under the last few years and the Economy is really a bad place.
June 12 1993 offered a hope of a better Nigeria,a Nigeria that works and a prosperous nation but what we have now is looking like the complete opposite
Economic Reforms under a faulty governance system and fraudulent political structure of Nigeria will certainly amount to failure.
More than 90% of the people named here by President Tinubu called for political restructuring of Nigeria and enthronement of True and Fiscal federalism upon Nigeria.

Ahmed Bola Tinubu himself campaigned all over the SW region for more than 12 years asking for political restructuring of Nigeria.
When Tinubu became president of Nigeria, every saner Nigerian expected him to quickly set up a committee to restructure Nigeria politically. But what is he waiting for?

But you had no idea then that any structure with foundation of falsehood never succeeds.
The soldiers paid you handsomely to construct a new National Anthem after they had rigged and changed Nigeria's political structure and governance system. You never saw what was their intention. The political structure and governance system created by the soldiers, as well as their Anthem, must go down before good leaders can emerge for Nigeria. Good leadership does not emerge from a vacuum.
