Is Abuja the same as Portharcourt where the occurrences have taken place?
Why go to Abuja if not that unitary government system is being deeply entrenched in Nigeria by the northern group favoured by the unitary government system their military dictators perfected for the economic and political advantages of the northern region?
Any politician who doesn't play according to the dictates of the advantaged group is shoved out of the political process either through election rigging, court proceedings or through impeachment.

Nigeria's unitary government system with a lopsided political structure is at the root of the country's woes.
If the far north does not want the country politically restructured, let the southern regions pull out of Nigeria. There is nothing the far north can do to stop that; after all, the far north had since urinated on Nigeria's Constitution by adopting unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal laws.
Whoever asks for National Assembly involvement in political restructuring of Nigeria is on deceptive mode. The National Assembly is unduly overpopulated by legislators from the far north of Nigeria through the undue large number of states and accruing legislative seats at the NASS.

It's natural. It's understandable.
There are three major ethnic groups in Nigeria at conflict with one another, resulting in a heavy pull in three directions from Nigeria itself.
They can NEVER get together for a common cause. After the fall of the Berlin Wall,
Europeans have dissolved nearly all the multi ethnic and multi religious countries that existed in Europe because they got to see that such countries never thrive.

But because of lucre in the south of Nigeria, people of the some regions of Nigeria clutch tight to one Nigeria like passengers clutching tight to a sinking ship because the ship carries valuables. Deeping poverty is it in dysfunctional Nigeria.

Lagos State Government should demolish and build modern markets that would be designed to operate in a way to achieve the sanitary standards that these outdated markets can never meet up with.

For instance, you cannot be building roads with very wide gutters and not expect that the drain would be full of refuse, which from time to time you then need to clear out with all these shutdown threats and sanitary exercise.

Instead build the road with fully enclosed gutters that have drain opening covered by gratings to sift anything besides water.

This is the logic to be applied to new market designs compared to the old markets that require a tedious exercise to get rid of waste generation not properly managed from source.

All those rubbish we call market should be demolished.

Government provides enabling environment for entrepreneurs to build markets and other business setups. Ask for government to organise the traders to build the type of modern markets you have in mind.
It's no duty of government to build markets. You can as well ask government to build industries.
Your mindset is that of one who depends on government for everything. Revenues from crude oil in the Niger delta region are no more enough for the growing population in Nigeria.

But far north politicians tell any southerners asking for political restructuring to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring, they know full well that the National Assembly is unduly overpopulated by legislators from the old Northern region where too many states were proliferated for the undue political overrepresentation of Arewa in the National Assembly.

If not, Switzerland would have been dissolved the way the other European countries with multi cultural and multi ethnic groups were dissolved after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Multi ethnic and multi religious countries like Nigeria 🇳🇬 never thrive.
