PoliticsRe: BREAKING: Buhari Signs Executive Order Allowing Private Companies To Build Roads by Oolawepo(m): 5:12pm On Jan 25, 2019
Femsyn:
President Muhammadu Buhari has signed and executive order allowing private companies build federal roads in the country.

The Executive Order 007 2019, signed by the president, is on Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.

The president signed the order on Friday inside the council chamber of State House, Abuja.

The new order will allow private companies such as the Dangote Group, Unilver, and Lafarge Africa construct major roads across the country and be paid in the form of tax credit.

Nigeria ranks 11th on the list of countries with the world’s worst road quality and network, according go the Global Competitive Index of 2018.

Under federal laws, public roads are constructed and maintained by the government, but poor funding has seen key roads left unattended to for years, causing car accidents.

Nigeria's problem is not political, that is why Jumpology has become too natural to us.

NIGERIA'S PROBLEM is corruption. Corruption is what makes a party that ruled Nigeria for 16 years without restructuring to be promising restructuring within 6 months. Corruption is the reason why Gumi and Oyedepo, together with Kukah will converge in the House of Opertaion Feed the Nation to declare War Against Indiscipline as FAILURE.......Corruption is the reason why OBJ who wrote a book informing us that Atiku is a thief is now telling us to vote for that documented thief. Corruption is the reason why all arrested politicians fall sick chronically without Doctor's confirmation except Ovation's clarification. Corruption is the reason why Atiku cannot enter America, it is the reason why MESU adopted Atiku, it is the reason why Atiku got

TravelRe: 7 M Annual Income Or Move To Canada by Oolawepo(m): 7:32pm On Jan 03, 2019
naijaman3:
Hmmn, I don’t know how you are doing your math. It looks to me that 7M Naira (or about CAD $25,000) per annum in Nigeria will be equivalent to maximum CAD $50,000 (or 14M Naira) in Canada taking tax and cost of living into consideration.

Your math is off because you did not take into consideration a lot of other things that you will spend money on while living in Nigeria but you don’t spend money on them in Canada. Some of the other things are:

Elementary and Secondary Education: In Canada, world class quality education is free from kindergarten to the end of high school. However, in Nigeria you know what you have to pay per term for schools that are not even as good as the free ones here in Canada.

Health and Medical: In Canada, you get this for free. However, in Nigeria you know what you have to pay for medical treatment at all the death center you call hospital. It is so bad that your yeyebrity (celebrity) that are believed to be making more than 7M Naira per annum run to social medial looking for help to cover hospital bills when they are sick.

Unemployment Benefit: If you lose your job in Canada due to no fault of yours you are entitled to government paid employment payment for between 14 weeks to 45 weeks. This is in additional to whatever severance pay that your company will pay you. What do you get from government in Nigeria if you lose your job due to no fault of yours? Nothing.

Government Pension: In additional to pension you get from your employer when you retire; you also get government paid pension monthly in Canada when you retire (You don’t need to work for the government to get this). What do you get from government in Nigeria when you retire? Nothing.

Old Age Security Payment: In Canada if you are 65 years and above you get paid Old Age Security payment irrespective of whether you have worked or never worked all your life. What do you get from government in Nigeria when you are old? Nothing.

You can argue that all of the above are not free because the government uses our tax to cover for these expenses. This is why our tax is a little high. But in Nigeria since you do not pay high taxes like we pay and you still need all of the above basic needs you have to pay for them or plan for them by yourself from your 7M Naira annual income. So, if you add high tax to your Canadian expenses, you also need to add the cost of all of the above to your Nigerian expenses.

Apart from the above items covered by our taxes, there are a couple of other items below that are extremely expensive in Nigeria compared to Canada:

Generator Running Expenses: Despite paying your NEPA bill, your power is not stable or not available at all. Hence you run your generator. In Canada, I don’t have to run a generator to live so the cost is zero. What is the cost of this per month or per year in Nigeria?

Tokunbo Car: The tokunbo car that you buy for about 2.24M Naira (CAD $8,000) in Nigeria will only cost me about CAD $2000 (N560,000 Naira) in Canada.

University and College Education: In Canada my kids have the following options available tom then in financing their education without me as a parent paying anything (government tuition grant not to be paid back, academic scholarship, part time work while schooling etc). In addition, they also get tax refund from tution and books etc but in Nigeria parents have to spend their live savings sending kids to the university.

There are more but I stop here for now!

Taking all of the above, all other cost of living and taxes into consideration, I would say that 7M Naira (or about CAD $25,000) per annum in Nigeria will be equivalent to maximum CAD $50,000 (or 14M Naira) in Canada.
Wow, like ur analysis. Conparative analysis

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Christmas to pray for the country’s leaders, peace, progress and socio-economic development.

Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary, made the call in a statement on Monday in Abuja while felicitating with Christians and Nigerians on the occasion which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

“As we gather with families and friends for the Christmas festivities which are characterised by gift-giving, social gatherings and feasting, we should remember to extend love and generosity to the less-privileged around us.

“We should also emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ exemplified by self-sacrifice,” the APC spokesman said.

feddis:
National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has launched a fierce attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his support to his erstwhile estranged deputy, Atiku Abubakar who is the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the next general elections.

APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole According to him, both Obasanjo and Atiku would be divinely punished at the polls in February, saying Atiku’s political infidelity would be his main albatross at the polls. Oshiomhole spoke yesterday when he received women leaders of the APC from across the local governments of his home state, Edo who were at his private office on a solidarity visit.

The APC chairman also lambasted Messrs Atiku and Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the PDP, faulting their calls for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris and Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

He said while Atiku wants to replace the IGP, Secondus is bent on becoming the INEC Chairman with the sole aim of subverting the electoral process. Obasanjo, Jonathan, Sambo, others, grace Atiku’s turbaning Oshiomhole also described as prodigal sons, some aggrieved governors of the party who have been threatening to work against its governorship candidates in their states, adding that the party would not immediately sanction them for anti-party activities as their main punishment would come from the electorate.

PoliticsRe: President Buhari Appoints New Supreme Court Justice, Rejects One Bill by Oolawepo(m): 3:10pm On Nov 21, 2018
Mysteryque:
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Musa Abaji as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He made this announcement via a letter he sent to the Senate on Tuesday.

In the letter which was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, he said the appointment was according to the advice of the National Judicial Council.

“In line with 1999 constitution upon the advice of the National Judicial Council, I hereby refer for confirmation the appointment of Justice Musa Abaji as the Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“While hoping that this is expeditiously considered by the Senate, accept the assurances of my highest regard,” the letter read.

In another letter, the president declined assent to the Institute of Chartered Biochemist and Molecular Biology of Nigeria Bill 2018.

He said his decision to withhold assent to the bill was because, if passed, the bill will infringe on the mandate of the National University Commission and the National Board for Technology Education.

He also said there are drafting issues on the bill.

“Pursuant of section 68(4) of the constitution, I hereby convey to the senate the decision on the 5th November 2018 to decline presidential assent to the Institute of Chartered Biochemist and Molecular Biology of Nigeria bill 2018 recently passed by the National Assembly for the following reasons;

“A. The provisions of section 13(3) to give the chartered biochemist and molecular biology power to approve academic program and even close down programs in tertiary institutions will infringe on our mandate of the National University Commission and the National Board for Technology Education.

“B. There are certain drafting and administrative issues in the bill, including the failure in section 13(cool, 14 and 22(2) to designate a chairman for both the practice and publicity committee and or specific process for how a chairman should emerge for either of the education, practice and publicity committees.

“This can lead to confusion in the administration of the council,” the president wrote in his letter.

PoliticsRe: 2019 Presidency: How PDP Exposed Atiku’s Ignorance – Oby Ezekwesili by Oolawepo(m): 10:51am On Nov 03, 2018
17Ebiscoo:
The presidential candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has exposed the ignorance of its flag bearer Atiku Abubakar, with its statement on price of fuel.

Ezekwesili said PDP’s claim that Atiku will reduce pump price of petrol to N90 only showed that the former Vice President was ignorant of the economy.

In a statement during the week, the PDP promised Nigerians that it will “crash fuel
pump price to N90,” if returned to power.

But in a statement made available to DAILY POST and signed by the National Chairman of ACPN, Gani Galadima, Ezekwesili said the main opposition party was only trying to deceive Nigerians.

whats her own with Atiku

The statement said, “Today, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, reminded us of why both they and the APC are one of the same, fielding a single candidate
called #BuTiku.

“This is 419, and it betrays the PDP candidate’s ignorance of how
Basic Economics and the solutions Nigeria truly needs.

“The country ended 2018 with 4trillion of Fiscal Deficit.

“Where will they find money to slash fuel price? Even if FG had such money, is it because they want another round of Subsidy-Slush Fund that they want to take the country deeper into the corrupted and market-distorting fuel price fixing method?

“The Obiageli Ezekwesili For President 2019 campaign is all for market-determined pricing which will end up more favourable to the poor who have been and continue bearing the effect of corrupted subsidy regimes more while the rich enjoy the benefits.

“This is a reminder to Nigerians that Abubakar Atiku’s so-called and questionable business acumen does not qualify him to run this economy. Obiageli Ezekwesili is the only candidate in the race who has built and rebuilt national economies in Nigeria and outside, with a track record to show for it.”
