ThatFairGuy1:nje o ka nkan ti mo ko? Did I say nupe is Yoruba? |
If you come to Ibadan, you see people speaking a single dialect. but an indept study will reveal several people with different origins such as ekiti, ibarapo, ijebu and even nupe which is why we made it our capital. Does it mean all Ibadan have a single origin? no. |
Someone mistakes Bonny for so-called Ikwerre. "so-called" because what is today called ikwerre just like anioma ibos , and like ekiti toois more of a cultural area than a people with common origin. They migrated from various various other areas in Iboland. for instance, the founder of isiokpo itself was a man called Okpo nwagidi said to come from Awka but there are still aro migrants in in isiokpo. Much of Obio akpor came from ngwa while areas such as Diobu, Elelenwa are much older settlements themselves. This just a reflection of cross migrations and settlement in the wider Iboland. this is why even among them there still exist variations in dialects. Do you even know there are Ikwerre settlements in about two towns Anambra? Although there was no Ibo nationalism in precolonial times, it was clear that Igboland was a homogeneous entity and communities had no issue relating. It was clear also that pre-1970 when Ibo nationalism had started, the ikwerre like other Ibos were nationalistic. It is safe therefore to aver that the inertia to Ibo nationalism exhibited by many of them operates from the Nigerian state's systematic and consistent policy aimed at culturally disarticulating them from the Ibo whole. I read books about our history, the ibo history and that of igala. This happed in yorubaland too |
Miracle1991:That you bear them in your family doesn't make them Christian names. |
Miracle1991:Ibrahim means Abraham but it still Muslim name, jubril means Gabriel but it is still Muslim name, they called Jesus Is a but no Christian answers Isa. Get educated and don't be fooled. |
Miracle1991:what is it? |
omenka:I don't think they stopped him from practicing his religion. what I saw them saying was that he wasn't a true muslim. He joined only request money from Northerners for erecting mosque which he never built. Moreover some of them even said he mixed mixed "Yusuf" which is for muslims with "Chi" which I think means God almighty in Ibo languge which made God to strike him in kogi. I don't know which of these claims is true but I have lived with ibos in Lagos and can tell you they give no damn which religion you practice. Pls let's focus more on our issues before we start sounding someway. |
Bighead9:But you and I know that our own pastors are absolutely good for nothing. They are a disaster to out region. while other evangelicals world over are holding the Antichrist establishment to account like Mike pence and other evangelicals in the US, here in Nigeria osibanjo a pastor joins Muslims to slaughter Christians. Our pastor are the worst hypocrites and traitors in this world. If they are doing their jobs instead collecting tithes and money, do you think we would be having this number of Muslims in yorubaland? Look at oyakhilome, he inspired Sinach, Frank Edward, Mercy Chinwo, Ada Buchi etc See Enenche, he inspired Prospa aochimana, osinachi nwachukwu etc Even AG inspired Daniel Ekene etc How many global acclaimed gospel stars has kumuyi, adobaye, oyedepo inspired except extortion, playing politics and fostering tribal divide. Let's tell ourselves the truth, we have failed in Christianity. |
Tomiwa69:you and who? If you want Nigeria go with ishaq akintola and live in sokoto. |
I'm Yoruba but I don't think this is exemplary enough. |
Realadey:I'm not IPOB but honestly I don't understand you sir. |
We need to examine this allegation. It's been trending for long. |
I actually like Kenyans. At least, they are free spirited. She mentioned access bank acquisition of their bank, "Nigerian" businessmen, Nigerian movies and music all of which are Ibo-controlled. It does appear Ibos are the ones stealing the show in terms of wielding economic and cultural influence outside their domain. Wathoni of bbn is an example. Our people also reside in these places but less visible. we need to do more than just living all our lives in lagos. |
Ibos are cute though |
money is not a thing but money ritual, yahoo, scamming etc are a thing. |
I heard our elders were meeting kanu and I thought it was good idea but it seems we have a lot of misguided youths to deal with. How else can one elsexplain this obsession with ibos and their legitimate political aspirations? sometimes I'm pushed to regret being a Yoruba. |
Our elders actually pleaded to work with him. I'm a Yoruba but the strong words he used on our elders actually worked. otherwise, they would be running after an illusory presidency and chasing clout at the detriment of the security of our region and the future of our children. |
Congrats to her. My people were busy shouting laycon laycon since morning not knowing they were invoking village people against our brother. |
It appears our leaders are waking up. A fellow yoruba nationalist just sent a recorded broadcast of IPOB leader kanu where he asked them to stop attacking us. according to the audio he said: "From today, attacks on oduduwa must be ceased. I had a special meeting with them. We promised to work together." Let's hope God will grant our leaders the spirit of steadiness and straightforwardness to chart a new course for us. |
TheDevilIsALai:But the Jews supported South Sudan and are supporting Ibos for Biafra. Kanu's father was buried as Christian while Israel itself is Democratic contrary to your claim. I feel instead that investing in conspiracy theory that encourages us to find comfort in a failed Nigeria, we yorubas must do serious soul searching to know why we are the only ethnic group that take pride in the current condition of Nigeria to the extent that we are opposing the freedom of others. |
RichBoy247:who raised you? Here in west, we might think whatever evil but we never use nasty words and abuses. I stand for Yoruba emancipation. |
TheDevilIsALai:Which one are Ibos following now? Jews or Hausa? and why are we concerned about them more than ourselves? |
Guestlander:I'm happy you know the Yoruba race is bereaved. Such acknowledgement is the best way to start solving our problems. |
Is any of the mentioned actors an age mate of his father? Can he fit into his father's role in a movie with his present age? Where is your brain? |
Blackking98:But you're a Yoruba like me nah, why the interest in Ibo and Ibibio Biafra stuff? |
Most of them are either Ibo artistes or Ibo contents. Good for Ibos. |
My people...haba |
I don't see anything wrong with Ibos helping to develop and civilize our region. |
at a time when hushpuppi is giving the world the mixed impression that every yorubaman is a criminal. Thanks omo nna ikenna. |
my people always opening useless thread about others, but never on our own issues. What a shame! |
The piece of rag in the window was designed by our son. |
