Industrial Training and Teaching practice is already compulsery but, the duration is insufficient. The OND and HND holders stand a better chance with the benefit of their longer industrial training duration.
IT isn't compulsory for all courses.

Atleast you can attest that after the graduate trainee program they become more useful to the company and someother companies too.

It is not petinent for it to be for 6 years, denpending on your area of study, it may vary.
IMO, The industrial training program should be compulsory and our Tertiary institutions should be fixed, residency isn't a way to go...

so now compare the experience you will have in 6 years of a well paid traning where your employers will be very serious with you due to the money involved to the experience you will have from a 6months IT or 3months teaching practice where you are mostly not paid and your employer gives little to no seriousness to the course.

Tell me who will be able to stand before you and open his or her dirty mouth to say you are incompetent after such gargantuan experience.
And you think companies would gladly pay you for 6 years in the name of "gathering experience"?

BTW, where are the companies would be willing to do that? Something I think resemble such is the graduate trainee program that lasts a year, max 2 years, how much are they being paid? What experience (s) do they gather?? Most times they do the job of technicians (no insult intended).

How about 5 years? Ask your doctor friend.
I asked and it is generally 3 - 6 years depending in the course. Now you're suggesting a 3 - 6 years "training" for all graduates?? What happened to Industrial training? Field work? Teaching practice?

My dear you should see the joy a lecturer has within him that students passed his course. My mother a retired secondary school principal, always had a bad day when we plotted statistics on the computer to etermine the gaussian distribution of the exams she just marked (her subject), especially when the modal scores where below par mumcy shed tears.

What am I saying? Lecturers give you the concept but teachers teach you all you need, a lecturer expects you to do additional research on his course work to buttress his concepts. Life is dynamic and so are the challenges of the real world, we often come to troubled ends if we solely rely only on what is said in class. Doing the extra work sets you apart.
As much as I agree with your point, there are lecturers that love students failing, they derive joy in students failing their exams and tests.
After putting in the extra work and someone says you wouldn't get a distinction because the "A" grade belongs to him??

Most of the students complaining here are those who never intended to study mathematics, they wanted to school in UNILAG at all cost and were offered Maths as a bailout...Maths is not political science...u have to be a genius sometimes to be a maths graduate. I did Business Admin in UNILAG over 10 years ago and had an encounter with Osifodunrin (not a Dr. then)...behold, I passed his course at once!
What a Comparison!!! Electives as against Compulsory courses?? Please do a survey again in the school, take the pulse of students most especially in the faculty of Sciences, maybe your line of thought would change.

The school authority should do something... The students can't all be dullards. What's the importance of being a lecturer when every student are failing your course? It shows clearly that the lecture is not imparting on the students ;hence his salary can't be justified.

I say sack the lecturer before he completely destroy students under him.
A school where some lecturers are more powerful than the Senate, VC and DVC?? Too many sadists.....
